Implementing an Inquiry-Based Learning Model to Deepen Students’ Conceptual Understanding
This study examines the effectiveness of the Inquiry-Based Learning model in enhancing students’ conceptual understanding of the SMAW and GMAW welding processes, an area that remains underexplored in vocational education. The research addresses the gap between the development of procedural skills and the acquisition of conceptual reasoning by investigating whether inquiry-oriented instruction can promote deeper cognitive engagement. A quasi-experimental design was implemented involving two intact groups, with the control group receiving conventional teacher-centered instruction and the experimental group experiencing structured IBL activities. Data were collected through pretests, posttests, observations, and semi-structured interviews, and analyzed using paired-sample and independent-sample t-tests, ANCOVA, effect size calculations, and normalized gain measures. The findings reveal that the experimental group demonstrated a substantial and statistically significant improvement in conceptual understanding compared with the modest gains observed in the control group. The intervention produced a very large effect size and a medium-high normalized gain, indicating strong learning effectiveness. Students exposed to IBL were better able to analyze parameter interactions, interpret defect mechanisms, and connect theoretical principles with laboratory outcomes. Overall, the study provides strong empirical evidence that Inquiry-Based Learning is a highly effective pedagogical approach for strengthening conceptual mastery in welding technology and should be considered for broader integration into vocational curricula
The Role of Organizational Culture, Leadership Behavior, and Job Satisfaction in Enhancing Teacher Productivity in Early Childhood Education Management
This study aims to analyze the influence of organizational culture, leadership behavior, and job satisfaction on the work productivity of kindergarten teachers in Binjai City. Using a quantitative research approach, data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 120 teachers across several early childhood education institutions. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, reliability tests, and multiple regression analysis. The results revealed that all three independent variables significantly affect teacher productivity, both partially and simultaneously. The coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.726 indicates that 72.6% of productivity variation is explained by these factors, while job satisfaction emerged as the most dominant variable. The findings suggest that a strong organizational culture promotes discipline and cooperation, effective leadership encourages motivation and commitment, and job satisfaction enhances enthusiasm and performance. Overall, the synergy among these three aspects creates a conducive and productive educational environment for early childhood teachers. This study emphasizes the importance of strengthening organizational culture, applying transformational leadership, and improving job satisfaction to optimize teacher productivity in early education institutions
Islamic Religious Education Strategy Based on Multiple Intelligences
This study examines the implementation of Multiple Intelligences (MI)-based strategies in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at MTs Al-Ittihadiyah Pekanbaru, focusing on how these strategies address student heterogeneity in learning abilities, styles, and motivations. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation to explore the planning, implementation, and evaluation of MI-based PAI learning. The treatments studied were the first factor of SP-36 dose with four levels of treatment (0 (control), 112.5 Kg/Ha, 225 Kg/Ha, 337.5 Kg/Ha and the second factor was the dose of liquid organic fertilizer of red devil fish (0 (control), 3 g/plot, 5 g/plot). The results showed that the provision of SP-36 had a significant effect on the observed variable, namely the fresh weight of plants per plot. Giving Red Devil Fish Liquid Organic Fertilizer can significantly increase plant height, plant fresh weight per plot, plant fresh weight per sample, number of tubers per plot and tuber diameter
Case Report: Femoral Neck Fracture in the Elderly
A fracture, commonly referred to as a broken bone, is a complete or partial disruption of bone continuity, which may involve the articular cartilage and epiphyseal cartilage. In the elderly population, fractures most often result from a combination of falls and decreased bone density. This case report discusses a 62-year-old male patient who presented to Cendrawasih Community Health Center with complaints of right hip pain for two days. The pain worsened with right leg movement and subsided with rest. The onset of pain occurred after the patient fell while walking at home, landing directly on his right hip. For the past decade, the patient had been dependent on a walking aid following a right-sided stroke. After the fall, he was unable to stand or walk due to severe pain. Owing to persistent pain, he was subsequently referred to the emergency department of Ibnu Sina Hospital for further management. The patient’s medical history revealed hypertension controlled with routine medication, diabetes mellitus treated with metformin three times daily at a dosage of 500 mg, and a history of SNH, for which he had been regularly consuming Aspilet 80 mg daily for the past ten years. A femoral neck fracture refers to a break occurring at the neck of the femur, just below the femoral head and within the hip joint capsule. It is among the most common types of hip fractures in older adults, typically caused by falls. Arthroplasty, either hemiarthroplasty or total hip replacement, is regarded as the treatment of choice for most elderly patients with displaced femoral neck fractures
Midwifery Philosophy in Islam and Its Implications for Midwifery Practice: A Scoping Review
Modern midwifery practice is increasingly shaped by medical technology and evidence-based approaches, which may at times create ethical and cultural tensions when applied in Muslim contexts. Islamic midwifery philosophy offers a value-based framework that integrates spiritual, moral, and ethical principles with clinical care. This study aimed to explore how the philosophy of midwifery in Islam provides guidance and solutions to challenges encountered in contemporary midwifery practice. A scoping review design was employed following the PRISMA-ScR guidelines. Literature searches were conducted across multiple electronic databases, including PubMed, Google Scholar, Scopus, JSTOR, ScienceDirect, and university libraries. Studies published between 2019 and 2025 that addressed Islamic values, ethics, or philosophy in relation to modern midwifery practice were included. Of 1,013 records identified, six studies met the final inclusion criteria and were analyzed thematically. The findings indicate that Islamic midwifery philosophy supports woman-centered, culturally sensitive, and holistic care, emphasizing respect for dignity, informed decision-making, ethical use of medical technology, and attention to emotional and spiritual well-being. Islamic values were found to enhance communication, trust, and patient engagement without opposing evidence-based practice. This review concludes that Islamic midwifery philosophy complements modern midwifery by providing ethical and practical guidance that strengthens culturally responsive, safe, and patient-centered maternity care in contemporary healthcare setting
Development of a Weight-Faltering Flyer as a Strategy to Strengthen Stunting Prevention
Stunting remains a major public health challenge in Indonesia. Educational interventions through visual media such as flyers show promise in improving understanding of early detection of weight faltering, yet many existing materials are not designed participatorily nor tailored to local contexts. To develop, pilot, and evaluate the effectiveness of a weight-faltering–based flyer in improving mothers’ knowledge on stunting prevention in Sukaharja Village. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) design with a mixed-methods approach. The stages included: an FGD to identify learning needs, media design by a multidisciplinary team, expert validation, limited field testing, and impact evaluation using a quasi-experimental design with two groups (flyer intervention vs. lecture control), each consisting of 20 mothers. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test assessments as well as in-depth interviews. Data analysis was conducted using a convergent approach integrating quantitative and qualitative findings. The FGD revealed low community understanding of weight faltering. The developed colored A4 flyer included growth charts, stunting risk indicators, complementary feeding guidelines, and encouragement to visit the posyandu. The trial showed that 90% of respondents agreed on the clarity and attractiveness of the media. Impact evaluation demonstrated a significant increase in the knowledge scores of the flyer group (76.0 → 78.5; p = 0.043), while the lecture group showed no significant improvement (73.0 → 73.5; p = 0.480). Follow-up interviews revealed positive shifts in attitudes and behavioral intentions regarding monitoring children’s growth and development
Exploration of the Benefits of Kusam as a Complementary Effort in Reducing the Intensity of Menstrual Pain in Adolescent Girls
Many adolescent girls suffer from menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea), which can interfere with daily functioning, academic performance, and overall quality of life. While pharmacological treatments are commonly used, complementary therapies using natural ingredients such as turmeric and tamarind (known locally as kusam) have gained attention due to their safety and fewer side effects . The aim of this study was to assess how dullness can function as a supportive therapy to reduce the level of menstrual pain experienced by female adolescents at SMA Negeri 1 Batu Engau. A quantitative method was applied in this study, with a quasi-experimental design and pretest–posttest with a control group. Fifty eligible participants were divided into two groups: the intervention group received kusam (a turmeric and tamarind herbal drink) for three consecutive days at the beginning of menstruation, while the control group received no intervention. Pain intensity was measured using a Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), and the Wilcoxon test and the Mann–Whitney U test were applied to analyze the data. This study revealed a significant reduction in menstrual pain levels among the intervention group compared to the control group. The Wilcoxon test showed that the intervention group experienced significant improvement after consuming kusam (p < 0.05). Similarly, the Mann–Whitney U test showed a significant difference between the groups at post-test, with the intervention group achieving a higher mean score. Turmeric has been shown to be effective as a complementary treatment for reducing menstrual pain. intensity in adolescent girls
