La grammaire du dopage cognitif au travail : un cadrage flou
No full textInternational audienceLe recours au smart drugs dans le travail intellectuel et les disciplines de l’esprit n’est pas chose nouvelle mais il tend à se diffuser à toutes sortes de travailleurs et aux multiples efforts psychiques imposés par la quête de performance que le travail contemporain porte en lui : productivité, gestion de l’incertitude, adaptation à des environnements contraints, résolution de problèmes, capacité d’engagement et motivation. Le tournant de l’intensification du travail portée par les nouveaux modèles productifs déployés à partir des années 90 en particulier dans les activités de service, et plus globalement la compétition généralisée entre individus et l’impératif moral du dépassement de soi comme piliers des sociétés néolibérales, ont fait du recours au smart drugs un révélateur des évolutions du travail et des sociétés. Cependant, les frontières de ce champ de pratiques restent troubles et les normes y sont peu stabilisées entre stigmatisation et tolérance sociale, entre appel à la distinction et au conformisme, entre pratique licite et illicite, entre individualisation des épreuves au travail et mode de régulation collectif, entre naturalisation du recours et sanitarisation des risques, entre potentialisation de soi et expression du mal-être au travail, entre rétablissement des chances et accentuation des inégalités… Si la quête de performance est une motivation traditionnelle dans l’usage de drogues, la grammaire du dopage cognitif au travail reste à écrire
Les « bouilleurs de graisse », un titre inédit à Malqatta
No full textInternational audienceThe Malqatta Palace was built in the vicinity of modern Luqsor for the celebrations of the first sed festival of Amenhotep III. This archaeological site is renowned for its decorations but also for the thousands of jar labels found. They provide valuable information concerning the food product, the date, the origin, the stewart responsible for the area and the associated titles, the person in charge of the preparation and, thus, his specific title. One of those jobs' designation, "responsible for fat preparation", hasn't been read accurately so far. This article aims to provide an answer to this shortcoming. This title, which seems attested only at Malqatta and during the last years of Amenhotep III, should read p/fs(w) ʿḏ and should be translated as "fat-boiler"
Ionization wave propagation and cathode sheath formation due to surface dielectric-barrier discharge sustained in pulsed mode
No full textInternational audienceThis work deals with the experimental study of a surface dielectric-barrier discharge (DBD), as a part of the ongoing interest in the control of plasma induced electro-fluid dynamic effects (e.g., plasma actuators). The discharge is generated using a plasma reactor consisting of a fused silica plate which is sandwiched between two printed circuit boards where the electrodes are developed. The reactor is driven by narrow high voltage square pulses of asymmetric rising (25 ns) and falling (2.5 μs) parts, while the discharge evolution is con-sidered in a temporarily and spatially resolved manner over these pulses. That is, conventional electrical and optical emission analyses are combined with high resolution optical emission spectroscopy and ns-resolved imaging, unveiling main characteristics of the discharge with a special focus on its propagation along the dielectric-barrier surface. The voltage rising part leads to cathode-directed ionization waves, which propagate with a speed up to 10^5 m s−1. The voltage falling part leads to cathode sheath formation on the driven electrode. Τhe polarization of the dielectric barrier appears critical for the discharge dynamics

No full textInternational audienceThis project aims to take into account the singularity of a mycelium network in a mode of interaction with humans that is based on listening and attention. We are building a setup for the development of sensitive interactions with the mycelium, an organism that facilitates symbioses, through an interpretation of the specificity of its electrical expressions connected to our human musical world. To build this interaction we will develop AI models to map the behavior of the mycelium, co-compose sounds with the recorded and classified electrical variations and finally build an interspecific and sensitive relationship. This model will attempt to retain the dimension of otherness in sensory interaction. It will share an experimental process that will allow us to enter into a relationship with a non-human organism, to observe its behavior and to adjust our behavior in interaction with it. Thus questioning the notions of intelligence and adaptation in a three-agent human/AI/Mycelium compositional process. What would be the mycelium's intelligence compared to that of the human musician and that of the artificial intelligence: what do we mean by this? This installation addresses the importance of recognizing the otherness of non-human beings in the ecological project of caring for the living

No full textPolitical discourse has become a linguistic and cultural issue, with the introduction of democracy and the rapid expansion of the role of the media in modern cultures. The use of language in politics goes beyond the simple expression of ideas, but also the concealment of the truth or the manipulation of public opinion. Our problem can be formulated as follows: How can discursive analysis contribute to the understanding of the manipulation of political discourse in modern democratic societies? We explore the importance of discursive analysis to understand political discourse and how political actors can use language to control public opinion and influence citizens. To better understand how politicians use language to impose their opinions and influence citizens, this study proposes to analyse political discourse by focussing on the pragmatic components of political communication, such as linguistic acts and rhetoric.Le discours politique est devenu une problématique linguistique et culturelle, avec l'introduction de la démocratie et l'expansion rapide du rôle des médias dans les cultures modernes. L'usage du langage en politique va au-delà de la simple expression d'idées, mais aussi de la dissimulation de la vérité ou de la manipulation de l'opinion publique. Notre problématique peut être formulée comme suit : Comment l'analyse discursive peut-elle contribuer à la compréhension de la manipulation du discours politique dans les sociétés démocratiques modernes ? Nous explorons l'importance de l'analyse discursive pour comprendre le discours politique et comment les acteurs politiques peuvent utiliser le langage pour contrôler l'opinion publique et influencer les citoyens. Pour mieux comprendre comment les politiciens utilisent le langage pour imposer leurs opinions et influencer les citoyens, cette étude propose d'analyser le discours politique en se concentrant sur les composantes pragmatiques de la communication politique, telles que les actes linguistiques et la rhétorique
