A proximal approach to IVA-G with convergence guarantees
No full textInternational audienceIndependent vector analysis (IVA) generalizes independent component analysis (ICA) to multiple datasets, and when used with a multivariate Gaussian model (IVA-G), provides a powerful tool for joint analysis of multiple datasets in an array of applications. While IVA-G enjoys uniqueness guarantees, the current solution to the problem exhibits significant variability across runs necessitating the use of a scheme for selecting the most consistent one, which is costly. In this paper, we present a penalized maximum-likelihood framework for the problem, which enables us to derive a non-convex cost function that depends on the precision matrices of the source component vectors, the main mechanism by which IVA-G leverages correlation across the datasets. By adding a quadratic regularization, a block-coordinate proximal algorithm is shown to offer a suitable solution to this minimization problem. The proposed method also provides convergence guarantees that are lacking in other state-ofthe-art approaches to the problem. This also allows us to obtain overall slightly better performance, and in particular, we show that our method yields better estimation in average than the current IVA-G algorithm for various source numbers, datasets, and degrees of correlation across the data

The relationship of the philanthropic organizations concerned with these approaches is complex. A repositioning of some of them towards a closer relationship with their donees raises several issues. A key to the known species of Girardelater Schimmel is given. New geographic country records are given for 25 species of the genus Girardelater Schimmel (2), Procraerus Reitter, 1905 (9) and Xanthopenthes Fleutiaux, 1928 (14).Un total de 24 nouvelles espèces appartenant aux genres Girardelater Schimmel, 1999 (Elaterini) (3) (Népal, Thaïlande, Vietnam, Cambodge), Procraerus Reitter, 1905 (Megapenthini) (14) (Philippines, Indonésie, Malaisie, Thaïlande, Inde ) et Xanthopenthes Fleutiaux, 1928 (Megapenthini) (7) (Indonésie, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodge, Thaïlande) sont décrites de la Région Orientale. Plus précisément, il s’agit de réaliser une conversion progressive de sa dette existante en capital afin de désintéresser les créanciers de celle-ci. Des outils issus du droit de l'ingénierie financière en font un montage inédit.Following the Ukrainian conflict, which affects peace on the European continent as well as the stability of the financial markets, the rise in the cost of energy is causing a new recession in the member countries of the European Union. Publicly listed companies fear the worst. Their leaders seek to avoid resorting to growing indebtedness. In order to stem this scourge which is gradually poisoning European regulated markets, a new legal structure has just appeared: equitization.Faisant suite au conflit ukrainien qui affecte la paix sur le continent européen ainsi que la stabilité des marchés financiers, la hausse du coût de l'énergie engendre une nouvelle entrée en récession des pays membres de l'Union européenne. Symmetry breaking organizes the brain's resting state manifold
No full textInternational audienceSpontaneously fluctuating brain activity patterns that emerge at rest have been linked to brain's health and cognition. Despite detailed descriptions of the spatio-temporal brain patterns, our understanding of their generative mechanism is still incomplete. Using a combination of computational modeling and dynamical systems analysis we provide a mechanistic description of the formation of a resting state manifold via the network connectivity. We demonstrate that the symmetry breaking by the connectivity creates a characteristic flow on the manifold, which produces the major data features across scales and imaging modalities. These include spontaneous high amplitude co-activations, neuronal cascades, spectral cortical gradients, multistability and characteristic functional connectivity dynamics. When aggregated across cortical hierarchies, these match the profiles from empirical data. The understanding of the brain's resting state manifold is fundamental for the construction of task-specific flows and manifolds used in theories of brain function such as predictive coding. In addition, it shifts the focus from the single recordings towards brain's capacity to generate certain dynamics characteristic of health and pathology

ACTIVITÉS DU CBNBP SUR LA Réserve Naturelle Nationale DE LA TRUCHÈRE-RATENELLE (71): Volet 2022
No full textLa Réserve Naturelle Nationale de La Truchère-Ratenelle a été créée le 3 décembre sur les communes de La Truchère et de Ratenelle en Saône-et-Loire. D’une surface de 93,04 ha, le site revêt un caractère exceptionnel de par la présence de dunes de sable continentales, qui représentent le motif principal de classement. La Réserve naturelle accueille également une tourbière (Tourbière de la Lioche et un étang (Etang Fouget), deux entités également remarquables.Dans le quatrième plan de gestion de la réserve, figurent deux actions :• TB7 "Suivi quinquennal par placettes sur un lot de buttes à sphaignes", qui concerne la tourbière• CS23 " Inventaire de la bryoflore de la Réserve Naturelle"Le CEN Bourgogne a missionné le CBNBP en 2022 pour mettre en oeuvre ces deux actions, la seconde devant se focaliser sur l'Etang Fouget pour profiter de sa mise en assec pour travaux de réfection des ouvrages hydrauliques.Les principaux résultats sont• Un inventaire bryologique de la réserve porté à 125 taxons avec notamment une espèce nouvelle pour la Bourgogne -Franche-Comté (Polytrichum perigionale), avec également encore beaucoup de secteurs à prospecter et plusieurs espèces non retrouvées ;• Un inventaire bryologique de l'Etang Fouget contrasté, avec peu d'éléments intéressant dans les zones d'assec mais très riche dans ses vieilles saulaies de queue d'étang ;• La mise en place de deux placettes de suivi dans la tourbière de la Lioche pour le suivi de Sphagnum fuscum et le suivi de la dynamique de végétation aux marges de la clairière tourbeuse• La localisation dans la tourbière de toutes les populations de sphaignes rencontrées, avec confirmation du maintien de Sphagnum fuscum, très précaire, sur 0.3m² enviro
