    THE ROLE AND CONTRIBUTION OF MILITARY FIELD HOSPITALS IN ENSURING THE HEALTH SECURITY OF MILITARY PERSONNEL

    This article explores the importance of military field hospitals in safeguarding the health and well-being of Armed Forces personnel, the optimal organization of their provision, and a comparison of international practices with the current situation in our country. Effectively organizing the provision of military field hospitals is a multifaceted endeavor that is a global concern, encompassing various organizational, technical, and human elements. While countries approach this issue with their unique experiences, tactical strategies, and technological advancements, there are common trends, technological solutions, and organizational principles that have been adopted by many nations.  Research shows that effective field hospital operations have a significant impact on combat readiness, with studies indicating that providing primary medical care within one hour can increase survival rates to over 85 percent. The article examines the hierarchical structure of field medical care from Role I (tactical combat first aid) to Role IV (permanent hospital transfer), looking at successful implementations by NATO forces, the US Army, Israeli Defense Forces, and lessons learned from recent conflicts. The experiences of the Mongolian Armed Forces' field hospitals in international peacekeeping missions and domestic emergency responses are assessed against global standards. Key findings suggest that modern military field hospitals need modular design, rapid deployment capabilities, advanced technological integration including drone support, and comprehensive logistics coordination. The study concludes that while Mongolia has shown operational competence in various international missions, significant improvements in equipment modernization, personnel training systems, and logistical infrastructure are necessary to meet contemporary military medical standards and ensure optimal health security for military personnel

    Background: Cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) is a partially ionized gas produced at near-room temperature and atmospheric pressure. It has gained significant interest in recent years due to its diverse biomedical applications, especially in oncology, dermatology, and wound healing. The therapeutic potential of CAP is primarily based on the generation of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (RONS), as well as minor ultraviolet radiation. Aim: The aim of this review is to summarize current knowledge from 2020 to 2025 regarding the biological effects and clinical applications of CAP, with particular emphasis on its role in cancer treatment, dermatological conditions, and wound management. Material and methods: A literature review was conducted using the PubMed database, focusing on articles published in English between 2016 and 2025 with a particular focus on recent evidence from 2021 to 2025 that address the medical use of CAP. Studies without full text, control groups, or of poor methodological quality were excluded. Results: In oncology, CAP demonstrates selective cytotoxic effects against tumor cells by disrupting cellular signaling, inducing oxidative stress, and modulating the tumor microenvironment. Studies report efficacy in cancers such as melanoma, breast cancer, and head and neck tumors. In dermatology, CAP exhibits antimicrobial activity, enhances skin barrier repair, modulates immune responses, and improves transdermal drug delivery. In wound care, CAP supports tissue regeneration by promoting cell proliferation, angiogenesis, and the breakdown of microbial biofilms. Conclusions: CAP is a promising tool in modern medicine with broad therapeutic potential. Despite encouraging results, further research is necessary to standardize treatment protocols, ensure long-term safety, and optimize plasma devices for clinical use

    THE IMPACT OF MOBILE APPLICATIONS ON HEALTHY LIFESTYLES AND CHRONIC DISEASE MANAGEMENT

    Introduction: Mobile applications (mHealth) are playing an increasingly important role in promoting healthy lifestyles and supporting patients with chronic diseases. Evidence from evidence-based medicine (EBM) studies indicates that they can support behavioral change, improve clinical parameter control and facilitate contact with the healthcare system. Objective: The aim of this study was to present current scientific evidence on the effectiveness of mobile applications in the field of health, with particular emphasis on behavioral and social effects. Methods: Systematic reviews, meta-analyses and randomized trials on the use of mobile applications for physical activity, weight loss, diabetes control, hypertension and other chronic diseases, as well as for improving adherence to pharmacotherapy recommendations, were included. Reports on data security, digital inequalities and WHO recommendations on mHealth were also analyzed. Results: According to meta-analyses, diabetes management apps lead to a significant reduction in HbA1c (by ~0.5% on average), especially when they are part of integrated clinical care. Apps that remind users to take their medication improve health behaviors related to pharmacotherapy, while those that promote physical activity and diet promote moderate, short-term weight loss and increased physical activity. Interventions using behavior change techniques such as self-monitoring, feedback and reminders are most effective. Positive social effects include increased motivation through support networks and facilitation of telemonitoring, but there are challenges related to data security, digital inequalities and lack of standardization in app quality. Conclusions: Mobile applications have potential as a tool to support the prevention and management of chronic diseases, but their effectiveness is moderate and variable. Further long-term randomized trials and the implementation of quality and safety standards are needed to fully exploit their clinical and social potential

    THE ROLE OF DIET IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF ACNE VULGARIS: A REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE

    Background: Acne vulgaris is a chronic inflammatory skin disorder influenced by genetic, hormonal and environmental factors. In recent years, the role of diet in acne development and severity has received increasing attention. Objective: The aim of this review was to summarise and evaluate the current evidence regarding the association between dietary patterns and acne vulgaris. The review focused on key nutritional factors, such as the glycemic index, dairy products, omega-3 fatty acids, probiotics and micronutrients. Methods: A literature search was conducted using the databases PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science and Google Scholar to identify studies published between 2010 and 2025. Twenty-six peer-reviewed articles, including clinical trials, observational studies and reviews, were included in the analysis. The data were synthesised qualitatively based on dietary categories and reported acne outcomes. Results: Diets with a high glycemic load, dairy consumption and whey protein supplementation were associated with acne prevalence and severity. By contrast, omega-3 fatty acids, adherence to the Mediterranean diet and probiotic supplementation demonstrated anti-inflammatory and protective effects. Micronutrients such as vitamins A, D and E, as well as zinc, also contributed to improved skin health and reduced lesion counts. However, despite these consistent trends, the heterogeneity of study design and dietary assessment limited the possibility of making direct comparisons between studies. Conclusion: Diet plays a significant role in modulating acne vulgaris. Low-glycaemic, anti-inflammatory and nutrient-rich diets may complement conventional acne therapies. Further randomised controlled trials are needed to confirm causal relationships and establish evidence-based dietary recommendations for managing acne

    Background: Recurrent urinary tract infections remain a significant clinical and public health concern due to their high prevalence, considerable recurrence rates, and the growing challenge of antimicrobial resistance. In light of the limitations associated with long-term antibiotic use, non-antibiotic prophylactic strategies have garnered increasing interest. This review synthesizes current evidence on the efficacy of various non-antibiotic interventions, including behavioral and dietary modifications, probiotics, cranberry products, D-mannose, methenamine hippurate, topical vaginal estrogen, and immunoprophylaxis. Aim: This study aims to introduce non-antibiotic approaches to the prevention of recurrent urinary tract infections and to highlight how their integration into clinical practice may decrease reliance on antibiotics and improve long-term patient outcomes. Methods: This narrative review synthesizes current research findings on the topic.     ONE DRUG TO FIX IT ALL? THE ROLE OF TIRZEPATIDE IN TREATING COMPONENTS OF METABOLIC SYNDROME

    Metabolic syndrome is a growing global health concern, driven largely by lifestyle-related factors such as poor diet, physical inactivity, and obesity. It is defined as a cluster of risk factors - including abdominal obesity, insulin resistance, hypertension, and dyslipidemia - that significantly increase the risk of developing cardiovascular disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes. With its prevalence rising worldwide and substantial impact on morbidity and mortality, there is an urgent need for effective, multifactorial treatment strategies. Tirzepatide, a dual GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist, has recently emerged as a promising therapeutic agent. The aim of this article is to review the current state of knowledge regarding tirzepatide’s potential in addressing key components of metabolic syndrome. Evidence from the SURPASS clinical program and the SURMOUNT-1 trial demonstrates tirzepatide’s robust effects on several metabolic parameters. It has been shown to significantly reduce HbA1c levels, promote substantial and dose-dependent weight loss, improve lipid profiles, and lower blood pressure. Notably, in a post hoc analysis of the SURPASS trials, tirzepatide led to normalization of blood glucose in a large proportion of patients and reduced the prevalence of individuals meeting the criteria for metabolic syndrome. Although metabolic syndrome was not a primary endpoint in these studies, the improvements seen across its components support tirzepatide’s potential as a comprehensive treatment. These findings suggest that tirzepatide may represent a significant advancement in the management of metabolic syndrome and offer new hope for patients burdened by multiple cardiometabolic risk factors

    Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to present the physiological changes occurring in the human body with increasing altitude and decreasing barometric pressure, and to summarize current knowledge on high-altitude diseases, with particular emphasis on Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). The article outlines the pathophysiological basis of its clinical manifestations, risk factors, diagnostic criteria, differentiation from other conditions, and methods of prevention and treatment. It also aims to raise awareness of high-altitude risks and promote safe practices during mountain travel. This work is intended as educational material for medical students, health professionals, travellers, and those beginning their high-altitude journeys.  Materials and methods: This review paper is based on data obtained from peer-reviewed scientific articles and reports published in reputable databases and journals, including PubMed, Taylor & Francis, CDC, SAGE Journals, ScienceDirect, and Practical Medicine, as well as Modern Management Review, The American Journal of Medicine, PLOS One, and High Altitude Medicine & Biology. The analysis also draws on the official position of the UIAA Medical Commission. Clinical studies, reviews, guidelines, and reports on high-altitude diseases published between 2010 and 2025 in English or Polish were included.  Conclusions: Acute mountain sickness arises from inadequate acclimatization to high-altitude hypoxia. Key risk factors include rapid ascent and prior AMS episodes. Gradual acclimatization is the most effective preventive measure, while pharmacological support may aid high-risk individuals. Early symptom recognition and prompt intervention are essential to prevent severe, potentially life-threatening complications, underscoring the importance of understanding human physiological limits and adaptation in extreme environments.&nbsp

    WEARABLE HEALTH TECHNOLOGIES IN CHRONIC DISEASE MANAGEMENT: CURRENT APPLICATIONS, BARRIERS, AND FUTURE PERSPECTIVES

    Wearable technologies are driving a paradigm shift in chronic disease management from clinics to patients 'everyday environments. Their applications are diverse: early arrhythmia detection in cardiology, optimal glycemic control in diabetology, remote monitoring in pulmonology, and opening new paradigms for objective assessment in neurology and medication adherence. This constant stream of data drives proactive, personalized & data-driven healthcare. Many of those advances are still limiting widespread clinical integration. Technical challenges regarding data validation and algorithmic transparency remain, alongside complex ethical questions about data privacy and the risk of algorithmic bias. Also, unresolved economic issues like reimbursement models threaten to increase health inequalities  The future of digital health will depend on integrating wearable data with artificial intelligence. It will unlock predictive analytics to forecast disease exacerbations and enable the development of reliable digital biomarkers within the vision of P4 medicine - predictive, preventive, personalized, and participatory. This narrative review critically summarizes the available data, identifies these ethical and practical obstacles, and suggests ways to safely, successfully, and fairly incorporate wearable technology into standard medical procedures

    Introduction: Mental health is a critical component of overall well-being, shaping daily functioning and resilience. Amid rising stress and the increasing prevalence of mood and anxiety disorders, interventions that enhance psychological well-being are of growing interest, including physical activity. Running, as an accessible and cost-effective exercise, has been associated with mood improvement, stress reduction, and decreased risk of mental health disorders. Despite robust evidence of its benefits, individual differences and potential limitations in psychological responses to running remain underexplored. This review synthesizes recent research on the physiological and psychological mechanisms linking running to mental health, highlighting its impact on stress, depressive symptoms, and overall well-being. Understanding these multidimensional effects can inform tailored, evidence-based strategies for promoting mental health through running. Methods: This review synthesizes recent literature (2015–2025) on running and mental health. A comprehensive search of PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar was conducted using keywords including "running," "mental health," "depression," and "psychological well-being." All relevant studies were considered to provide an inclusive overview of current evidence. Aim of The Study: The aim of this perspective review is to synthesize and critically evaluate current research on the effects of running on mental health as documented in the recent literature. Conclusion: Running constitutes a multidimensional activity with both beneficial and potentially adverse effects on mental health. Evidence supports its role in reducing depression and anxiety symptoms, enhancing mood, cognitive function, and self-efficacy. Effective use of running as a mental health intervention requires consideration of individual differences in motivation, personality, and emotional state, alongside strategies to balance physical exertion with psychological well-being and prevent burnout. Future research should adopt an interdisciplinary approach, integrating psychology, physiology, and public health, to elucidate mechanisms underlying these effects. Such insights can inform personalized and sustainable training recommendations, promoting both physical performance and long-term psychological well-being
