Effet des temps brefs de pleine conscience sur la variabilité de la fréquence cardiaque: une revue systématique de la littérature
International audienceHeart Rate Variability (HRV) is considered as an objective assessment of stress, that considerably increased the last decades. The influence of Brief Mindfulness Meditation (BMM) on HRV contains gaps in the literature. This study aims to investigate the influence of BMM on HRV. A systematic search was conducted in four databases (i.e., PubMed NCBI, Cochrane Library, Scopus, and Web of Science). To be included, these studies were required to evaluate HRV before and during or after a BMM intervention. The methodological quality of the included studies was evaluated with the revised Cochrane Risk-of-Bias and the quality of the evidence was assessed with the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation. Seven studies met the inclusion criteria. Three studies had within subject design, two studies compared BMM with other relaxation techniques, one study was a controlled trial, and one study was an uncontrolled trial. Three studies, including 120 participants, found that BMM is associated with an increase of Root Mean Square of Successive Differences (RMSSD). Two studies reported an increase of the LF/HF ratio; however, the quality of the evidence was low. Although the large amount of heterogeneity can be seen as the main limitation, the results suggest that RMSSD may increase in the short-term during or after BMM, suggesting that BMM might be a promising psychological intervention to temporally reduce the physiological stress of the population. Future randomised controlled trials, measuring long-term effects of BMM on HRV, need to be conducted.Registration and information: This systematic review was registered on the international Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (PROSPERO) database (#CRD42022291907)
Practically Feasible Proof Logging for Pseudo-Boolean Optimization
International audienceCertifying solvers have long been standard for decision problems in Boolean satisfiability (SAT), allowing for proof logging and checking with very limited overhead, but developing similar tools for combinatorial optimization has remained a challenge. A recent promising approach covering a wide range of solving paradigms is pseudo-Boolean proof logging, but this has mostly consisted of proof-of-concept works far from delivering the performance required for real-world deployment. In this work, we present an efficient toolchain based on VeriPB and CakePB for formally verified pseudo-Boolean optimization. We implement proof logging for the full range of techniques in the state-of-the-art solvers RoundingSat and Sat4j, including core-guided search and linear programming integration with Farkas certificates and cut generation. Our experimental evaluation shows that proof logging and checking performance in this much more expressive paradigm is now quite close to the level of SAT solving, and hence is clearly practically feasible
Oxygen Vacancy Formation at Metal-TiO<sub>2</sub> Interface Yielding Enhanced Photocatalytic Hydrogen Generation
International audienceStrong Metal-Support Interaction (SMSI) is a key concept in heterogeneous catalysis, but it remains underexplored in the context of photon-to-hydrogen conversion, as coupling of metallic nanoparticles with photocatalysts is overlooked and only discussed in terms of Schottky barrier formation. In this study, we provide deep insights into the effect of Au encapsulation with TiO2 overlayer on enhancing photocatalytic hydrogen generation. Our findings reveal that the construction of a SMSI-like nanostructure induces the formation of oxygen vacancies at the Au‒TiO2 interface which actively facilitate charge carrier separation through interfacial band reconstruction. The presence of defects is evidenced by Electron Paramagnetic Resonance and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy, unveiling their relationship with photocatalytic activities. Consistent with experimental results, Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations demonstrate that Au promotes oxygen vacancy formation. These vacancies located at the TiO2 surface significantly enhances H2O and MeOH adsorption during H2 evolution reactions. The SMSI-like concept was extended to Pt, Pd, and Ag, in which the oxygen vacancy formation energy at the metal-semiconductor interface varied depending on the metal, as computed by DFT. The results suggest that photocatalytic activity is related to the ease of oxygen vacancy formation, which is influenced by the nature of the metals

Astronomie pour l’éducation dans l’espace Francophone: Édition 2023
International audienceLa seconde édition du colloque AstroEdu-Fr a eu lieu du 9 au 11 no-vembre 2023 au lycée Pierre Mendès France de Tunis et à l’Institut Régional de Formation (IRF) zone Maghreb-Est. Son ambition était de poursuivre la constitution d’une communauté francophone dans le domaine de l’astronomie pour l’éducation, en s’appuyant sur le bureau international de l’astronomie pour l’éducation (OAE) fondé par l’Union astronomique internationale (UAI), et en particulier le nœud francophone (OAENF-CY) hébergé par CY Cergy Paris Univer-sité. Quarante-cinq représentants de 11 pays francophones se sont retrouvés.Le programme du colloque a été constitué de conférences sur des thèmes liés à l’enseignement et la médiation de l’astronomie et sur des sujets d’actualités en astronomie, ainsi que d’ateliers en groupe restreint pour permettre la mise en œuvre et l’analyse de séances avec une participation active de chacun. Ce colloque s’adressait donc aux enseignants et enseignantes, formateurs et formatrices, médiateurs et médiatrices, chercheurs et chercheuses, intéressé.e.s par l’utilisation de l’astronomie pour l’éducation for-melle et informelle. Scaling Up Purcell-Enhanced Self-Assembled Nanoplasmonic Perovskite Scintillators into the Bulk Regime
International audienceScintillators convert high-energy radiation into detectable photons and play a crucial role in medical imaging and security applications. The enhancement of scintillator performance through nanophotonics and nanoplasmonics, specifically using the Purcell effect, has shown promise but has so far been limited to ultrathin scintillator films because of the localized nature of this effect. This study introduces a method to expand the application of nanoplasmonic scintillators to the bulk regime. By integrating 100-nm-sized plasmonic spheroid and cuboid nanoparticles with perovskite scintillator nanocrystals, nanoplasmonic scintillators are enabled to function effectively within bulk-scale devices. Power and decay rate enhancements of up to (3.20 ± 0.20) and (4.20 ± 0.31) folds are experimentally demonstrated for plasmonic spheroid and cuboid nanoparticles, respectively, in a 5-mm thick CsPbBr3 nanocrystal-polymer scintillator at RT. Theoretical modeling also predicts similar enhancements of up to (2.26 ± 0.31) and (3.02 ± 0.69) folds for the same nanoparticle shapes and dimensions. Moreover, a (2.07 ± 0.39) fold increase in light yield under 241Am γ-excitation is demonstrated. These findings provide a viable pathway for utilizing nanoplasmonics to enhance bulk scintillator devices, advancing radiation detection technology
Impact Measures for Gradual Argumentation Semantics
International audienceArgumentation is a formalism allowing to reason with contradictory information by modeling arguments and their interactions. There are now an increasing number of gradual semantics and impact measures that have emerged to facilitate the interpretation of their outcomes. An impact measure assesses, for each argument, the impact of other arguments on its score. In this paper, we refine an existing impact measure from Delobelle and Villata and introduce a new impact measure rooted in Shapley values. We introduce several principles to evaluate those two impact measures w.r.t. some well-known gradual semantics. This comprehensive analysis provides deeper insights into their functionality and desirability
