    Sustainable Protein Recovery and Wastewater Valorization in Shrimp Processing by Ultrafiltration

    International audienceThis study investigated the use of ultrafiltration for sustainable protein recovery and the treatment of shrimp washing wastewater (SWW). Three ultrafiltration membranes with molecular weight cut-offs of 5, 10, and 50 kDa were tested using a combined ultrafiltration–diafiltration process (UF-DF). The performance of each membrane was assessed based on protein recovery efficiency, chemical oxygen demand (COD) reduction, turbidity, fouling behavior, and cleaning efficiency. The 5 kDa membrane showed superior performance, achieving over 90% protein and COD rejection and producing the highest protein-enriched retentate. It also exhibited the lowest fouling index and best cleaning recovery, confirming its suitability for protein concentration and wastewater treatment. This research highlights UF-DF as a promising, eco-efficient technology for valorizing seafood processing effluents by recovering high-value proteins and reducing environmental discharge loads

    International audienceThe construction of an axial flux machine rotor involves the rolling of electrical steels, which generates mechanical stressesthat alter their magnetic properties. This study aims to experimentally evaluate the impact of rolling and annealing on thepermeability and iron losses of FeCo and FeSi sheets, both grain-oriented and non-oriented. To this end, the sheets wererolled into diameters of 200 mm, 160 mm, and 120 mm. The results show a significant degradation of magnetic performance,with a clear correlation between roll diameter and the extent of magnetic property deterioration.     International audienceLa pollution causée par les rejets de l'industrie textile est un problème environnemental sérieux, ces rejets sont lourdement chargés en colorants. Ces derniers ont un effet néfaste sur l'environnement notamment la contamination des milieux aquatiques. Parmi les techniques de dépollution des eaux chargées en colorants, on retrouve l'adsorption. Dans ce contexte, notre étude porte sur l'adsorption du bleu de méthylène sur un biochar issu d'une biomasse agricole. L'effet de la masse, pH, temps d'agitation et concentration ont été étudié et il a été constaté que la capacité maximale d'adsorption du biochar était 76,58mg/g à pH=8. Les calculs d'erreur SSE ont indiqué une cinétique d'adsorption de second ordre, et les isothermes d'adsorption ont suivi le modèle de Freundlich. Le biochar a été caractérisé à l'aide de la technique de Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) et la microscopie électronique à balayage (MEB)

    Key account managers and customer experience: A service ecosystem approach

    International audienceProviding a positive customer experience is essential for building and maintaining long-term customer loyalty, especially when it comes to key accounts—the most strategic clients for a business. Although Key Account Managers (KAMs) are responsible for overseeing these critical relationships, there is a limited understanding of how they directly influence customer experience. Based on 43 interviews with KAMs, this study draws on the service ecosystem perspective and on the concept of crossing points. The findings reveal that KAMs play a pivotal role in refining customer experiences by better managing crossing points. Specifically, KAMs participation in the thinning of crossing points by establishing the company's credibility, building relationships with several actors, and implementing automation to improve processes. Our study illustrates that KAMs rely on their ecosystem of actors within their organization and leverage technology to create a better customer experience. Our findings also warn that KAMs need to carefully balance their approach, as crossing points can become problematic if they are either too thick or too thin, potentially disrupting the customer experience. The article's broader contribution is that KAMs play an essential role in providing customer experience and can guide businesses in refining their approach to key account management and ultimately strengthen long-term customer relationships

    Identification of Biosynthetic Precursors and Optimization of 7-Hydroxytropolone Bioproduction by Pseudomonas sp. PA14H7

    International audienceCell-free supernatant of the strain Pseudomonas sp. PA14H7 has previously shown interesting activity against Soft Rot Pectobacteriaceae (SRP), the bacterial pathogen responsible for blackleg and soft rot diseases in potatoes. A deeper understanding of its mode of action is essential to optimize its use as a biocontrol agent. We previously reported that Pseudomonas sp. PA14H7 produces a specialized metabolite, the 7-hydroxytropolone (7-HT), which acts as an iron chelator, limiting the growth of SRP. In this study, we have constructed a Δhts10 deletion mutant of Pseudomonas sp. PA14H7, encoding a putative acyl-CoA dehydrogenase corresponding to the ortholog of orf10 in Pseudomonas donghuensis. We demonstrated that this mutant was deficient in 7-HT biosynthesis, confirming that this molecule is the metabolite responsible for the antagonist activity. After finding a minimum culture medium (MK) allowing the Pseudomonas sp. PA14H7 growth without 7-HT production, we investigated the biosynthetic pathway of this metabolite. We identified phenylalanine and phenylacetic acid as 7-HT precursors and demonstrated that the addition of 150 mg/L of phenylalanine to the MK medium enhanced the 7-HT bioproduction by Pseudomonas sp. PA14H7 up to 30 mg/L. These findings provide new insights into the biosynthesis and regulation of 7-HT, paving the way for the use of Pseudomonas sp. PA14H7 as a biocontrol agent

    Endorsing voice behavior can be as devastating as rejecting it when the endorsement is laced with a hint of anger

    International audienceVoice endorsement—managers’ approval of employees’ voiced suggestions—has largely been regarded as positive, yet little research examines how managers’ emotional expressions during endorsement affect employees. Drawing on the Emotions as Social Information (EASI) model, we propose that not all instances of voice endorsements are necessarily positive events for employees. Specifically, we propose that managers’ anger while endorsing voice, negatively impact employees’ perceptions of psychological safety and their future voice behavior. Across two experimental studies, we find that participants who faced an angry manager endorsing their voice reported both lower psychological safety and future voice behavior than those whose voice was endorsed by a happy or neutral looking manager. Study 2 further found that employees experiencing voice endorsement with anger felt as psychologically unsafe as those whose voice was outright rejected, suggesting that anger-laden endorsements are just as detrimental as voice rejections. Our findings contribute to the literature by challenging the notion that all voice endorsements are inherently positive, emphasizing the role of managers’ emotions on managerial reactions to voice
