Uncertainty Quantification of the Short‐ and Long‐Term Behavior of COx Claystone and Reliability Analysis of the IL‐LLW Repository's Concrete Liner Based on In Situ Convergence Data
International audienceABSTRACT The excavation‐induced fractured zone (EFZ) and the anisotropic evolution in time of drifts’ convergence, as observed in the Mesue/Haute‐Marne Underground Researche Laboratory (MHM URL), reveal the complex behavior of Callovo‐Oxfordian (COx) claystone, the host formation for geological radioactive waste disposal project (Cigéo) in France. Especially, the dispersion of the in situ convergence monitoring exhibits the non‐negligible uncertainty of the host rock properties that must be quantified and considered in the stability analysis of the repositories’ support systems. In this work, the well‐known Bayesian inference with the transitional Markov chain Monte Carlo sampling technique is chosen to quantify the uncertainty of the short‐ and long‐term behavior of COx claystone and EFZ using the convergence data of a drift excavated in the major horizontal stress direction. An engineering approach is adopted to simulate the anisotropy of drift convergence. To reduce the computational cost of the numerical model prediction during the probabilistic inversion, the artificial neural network–based surrogate is chosen. The uncertainty of the visco‐elastoplastic behavior of COx claystone, as well as the uncertainty of the EFZ shape, is then considered in the reliability analysis of the concrete liner of an intermediate‐level long‐lived radioactive (IL‐LLW) repository. The numerical applications allow verifying the robustness of the current design for the repository support system

Advanced theory of mind predicts adolescents’ evaluation of source benevolence while reading
International audienceSourcing skills support online readers' assessment of relevance by establishing the credibility of a message. But many adolescents struggle to efficiently engage in the critical evaluation of the information they read online. This study investigated the relationship between adolescents’ Advanced Theory of Mind (AToM), their executive and verbal skills, and their abilities to assess specific dimensions of source reliability (i.e‥, source expertise, benevolence, and level of editorial control). Seventy-six French eighth graders completed tasks assessing their AToM, lexical quality, Working Memory (WM) updating, and sourcing abilities. The data showed a statistically significant relation between AToM and source benevolence assessment, after controlling for WM and lexical quality, suggesting that AToM plays a role in inferring the intentions of sources. However, no statistically significant relationship was found between AToM and other source attributes such as expertise or editorial control. Additionally, no association was observed between WM and AToM or sourcing. These findings highlight the importance of considering AToM in understanding adolescents' sourcing abilities and suggest the need for specific perspective-taking training to support their critical reading
Disruption of deoxyribonucleotide triphosphate biosynthesis leads to RAS proto-oncogene activation and perturbation of mitochondrial metabolism
International audiencePerturbation of the deoxyribonucleotide triphosphate (dNTP) pool is recognized for contributing to the mutagenic processes involved in oncogenesis. The RAS gene family encodes well characterized oncoproteins whose structure and function are among the most frequently altered in several cancers. In this work, we show that fluctuation of the dNTP pool induces CG->TA mutations across the whole genome, including RAS gene at codons for glycine 12 and 13, known hotspots in cancers. Cell culture addition of the ribonucleotide reductase inhibitor thymidine increases the mutation frequency in nuclear DNA and leads to disruption of mitochondrial metabolism. Interestingly, this effect is counteracted by the addition of deoxycytidine. Finally, screening for the loss of hydrogen bonds detecting CG->TA transition in RAS gene of 135 patients with colorectal cancer confirmed the clinical relevance of this process. All together, these data demonstrate that fluctuation of intracellular dNTP pool alters the nuclear DNA and mitochondrial metabolism

La prière du Notre Père à la Renaissance
International audienceThe Our Father is the prayer taught by Jesus to his disciples. The Gospels offer a plural account of it, transmitting two prayer formulas, one shorter (Lk, 11:2-4) and the other longer (Mt, 6:9-13). In Renaissance Europe, humanists and reformers took up the Lord’s Prayer in particular, which, like the Psalms, gave rise to new texts in the vernacular – translations, commentaries and paraphrases – and were included in a host of printed books that evolved over the course of the 16th century, such as liturgical books, catechisms, confession manuals, prayer books, treatises on spirituality, and also lives of Christ, all texts connected with a variety of communities, ideologies, and practices. Confessional differences appear not only in the interpretation of the petitions that make up the Lord’s Prayer, but also in its transmission with other texts essential to the Christian faith, such as the Creed, the Ten Commandments and the Ave Maria. After an overview of key texts circulating throughout Europe and influencing new conceptions and practices linked to the Our Father, the study case of Italy as a cultural crossroad illustrate, from the beginning of the press to the seventeenth century, how new forms and content, at first mingled with old ones, appeared, then gradually or abruptly disappeared or imposed themselves.
Praying in Renaissance. A plurality of Theories, Texts and Practices in a Changing Europe
International audienceThe European Renaissance saw a deep renewal of the form and content of prayer. Even before the Reformation (whether Protestant or Catholic), the growing role played by lay people, women and men, in the religious sphere created new forms of worship, developing new practices and new texts. The renewal became even more intense during the 16th and 17th centuries, two centuries defined and devastated by changing confessional identities, but also vitalized by the printing press and confraternal activities. The project intended to study, from a multidisciplinary perspective, the changes which took place in this everyday and universal practice in the early modern period. The results offer an important contribution to knowledge on the topic for two reasons: first, it goes beyond existing studies on prayer, which do not go later than the 15th century and are focused on monastic prayer and books of hours; second, because it took into account under-studied aspects, such as domestic practices, the contributions of women, devotional images, books of prayer, catechisms, and parodies, offering a truly new picture that may suggest much further research. Moreover, having involved scholars who specialise in the fields being studied, the results offer an unparalleled academic contribution on the various topics considered. Contents: I. New Theories and Historical Changes; II. Texts; III. Practices (22 chapters)
