Digitization of Older Manuscripts in the Franciscan Library in Ljubljana
Mineva leto dni, kar se je v obnovljeni knjižnici Frančiškanskega samostana Ljubljana Center začel projekt digitalizacije starejšega rokopisnega gradiva, in javnosti je že na voljo prvih sto digitaliziranih rokopisov iz samostanske zbirke. Dostopni so v spletni čitalnici vodilne mednarodne organizacije za ohranjanje rokopisne dediščine Hill Museum and Manuscript Library (HMML), ki ima sedež na benediktinski univerzi Saint John’s University v Minnesoti. The large-scale displacement caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022 exposed the Czech Republic’s systemic unpreparedness for delivering professional community interpreting. This article presents a qualitative case study, forming part of a larger research project on interpreting during the Ukrainian refugee response. Focusing on a Regional Assistance Centre (KACPU) in Olomouc, the study draws on ethnographic observation and 17 interviews with interpreters, coordinators, and psychologists, including follow-up interviews with six interpreters conducted three years later. It explores how interpreting was organized in the absence of formal infrastructure, how interpreter networks emerged, and how the role and status of community interpreters evolved over time. Thematic analysis reveals blurred role boundaries, ethical dilemmas, and emotional strain as interpreters navigated encounters in law enforcement, healthcare, and social services. Although many interpreters remained active in the field, often in precarious roles, systemic support structures have lagged behind. The article concludes by calling for reforms in training for both interpreters and providers, ethical frameworks, and institutional recognition to strengthen resilience in future crises.Obsežna razselitev, ki jo je leta 2022 povzročila ruska invazija v Ukrajino, je razkrila, da je Češka republika sistemsko nepripravljena, da bi zagotovila profesionalno skupnostno tolmačenje. V prispevku predstavljamo kvalitativno študijo primera, ki je del širšega raziskovalnega projekta o tolmačenju v času bivanja ukrajinskih beguncev na Češkem. Študija, ki se osredotoča na regionalni center za pomoč (KACPU) v Olomoucu, temelji na etnografskem opazovanju in 17 intervjujih s tolmači, koordinatorji in psihologi, vključuje pa tudi dodatne intervjuje s šestimi tolmači, opravljene tri leta pozneje. Raziskava se osredotoča na vprašanje, kako je bilo tolmačenje organizirano v odsotnosti formalne infrastrukture, kako so se oblikovale mreže tolmačev ter kako sta se vloga in status skupnostnih tolmačev razvijala skozi to obdobje. Rezultati tematske analize so razkrili zabrisane meje vlog, etične dileme in čustvene napetosti, ki so se pojavljaje, ko so tolmači krmarili skozi pogovore z organi pregona in drugimi zaposlenimi v zdravstvu in socialnem varstvu. Čeprav so številni tolmači ostali dejavni na tem področju, pogosto v negotovih vlogah, pa se sistemske podporne strukture niso razvijale vzporedno. Članek se zaključi s pozivom k reformam na področju izobraževanja tolmačev in izvajalcev storitev, po vzpostavitvni etičnih okvirov in institucionalne uveljavitve, ki bi okrepili odpornost v prihodnjih krizah
Subfosilna debla navadne jelke iz 5. tisočletja pr. Kr.
Na območju Čadrga nad Tolminom so odkrili subfosilna debla navadne jelke (Abies alba), zakopana v mokrih tleh. Dendrokronološke raziskave so pokazale, da je bilo 5 raziskanih dreves velikih in starih in da so rasla v ugodnih razmerah (največji premer in starost nad 80 cm in 187 let). Radiokarbonski datumi zadnjih branik pod skorjo 3 dreves so bili: 4660 ± 64 kal. pr. Kr. (2σ), 4524 ± 64 kal. pr. Kr. (2σ) in 4272 ± 46 kal. pr. Kr. (1σ). Sestavljeni sta bili tudi dve kronologiji širin branik za obdobji okoli 4831–4524 pr. Kr. in 4367–4272 kal. pr. Kr. Svetlobna mikroskopija je potrdila, da je subfosilni les razmeroma dobro ohranjen, vendar ima območja, kjer so celične stene v različnih fazah bakterijskega razkroja. Predstavljamo pomen subfosilnih jelk za paleo-ekologijo, arheologijo, opredeljeno s koncem mlajše kamene dobe in začetkom bakrene dobe, ter za podaljšanje kronologij jelke v Sloveniji in srednji Evropi.Subfossil stems of silver fir (Abies alba) trees buried in wet soil were discovered in the Čadrg area above Tolmin, Slovenia. Dendrochronological analysis showed that the five studied trees were large and old, having grown in optimal conditions (maximum diameter and age over 80 cm and 187 years). The radiocarbon dates of the last tree rings below the bark of three trees were 4660 ± 64 cal BC (2σ), 4524 ± 64 cal BC (2σ), and 4272 ± 46 cal BC (1σ), and two tree-ring chronologies for the periods 4831–4524 and 4367–4272 cal BC were compiled. Light microscopy confirmed that the wood is mostly fairly well preserved, but there are areas in the wood where the cell walls are in various stages of decay caused by erosion bacteria. We discuss the significance of the subfossil trees for palaeoecology, archaeology, at the end of the Neolithic and the beginning of the Copper Age and to prolong the silver fir chronologies for Slovenia and Central Europe
Polimorfizmi genov ACTN3, IL-6 in PPARA ter anaerobna zmogljivost pri odbojkarjih
The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between ACTN3 rs1815739, IL-6 rs1800795, and PPARA rs4253778 gene polymorphisms and anaerobic test parameters among volleyball players. A total of 22 volleyball players voluntarily participated in the study. DNA isolation from buccal epithelial cell samples were performed using a PureLink DNA isolation kit, following the manufacturer\u27s instructions. The genotyping of ACTN3 rs1815739, IL-6 rs1800795, and PPARA rs4253778 gene polymorphisms were determined using the real-time polymerase chain reaction technique. Statistical analysis of the test results was performed using the SPSS 23 software package. Homogeneity of variance was assessed with the Levene test, and normal distribution was evaluated using the Shapiro-Wilk test. The One-Way ANOVA test was applied for the analysis of all parameters, and significance was set at p < 0.05. When the data were evaluated, no statistically significant differences were observed between PPARA rs4253778 and ACTN3 rs1815739 gene polymorphisms and anaerobic performance parameters (p>0.05). Statistically significant differences were observed between the IL-6 rs1800795 gene polymorphism and anaerobic performance parameters of back strength (p> 0.05). In conclusion, in volleyball, PPARA rs4253778 and ACTN3 rs1815739 gene polymorphisms did not cause differentiation in anaerobic performance parameters. However, IL-6 gene polymorphism caused differentiation only in the back strength parameter. Additionally, the good performance of athletes with different prevalent level of genotypes in the studied performance criteria does not fully reveal which performance outcomes are influenced by the gene or genotype distributions. It is understood that further studies are needed to better determine the gene-performance relationship.Cilj te študije je bil ugotoviti povezavo med polimorfizmi genov ACTN3 rs1815739, IL-6 rs1800795 in PPARA rs4253778 ter parametri anaerobnih testov pri odbojkarjih. V raziskavi je prostovoljno sodelovalo 22 odbojkarjev. Izolacija DNK iz vzorcev bukalnih epitelijskih celic je bila izvedena s pomočjo kompleta PureLink za izolacijo DNK, v skladu z navodili proizvajalca. Genotipizacija polimorfizmov genov ACTN3 rs1815739, IL-6 rs1800795 in PPARA rs4253778 je bila določena z uporabo tehnike verižne reakcije s polimerazo v realnem času (real-time PCR). Statistična analiza rezultatov je bila izvedena s programskim paketom SPSS 23. Homogenost varianc je bila preverjena z Levenovim testom, normalnost porazdelitve pa z uporabo Shapiro–Wilkovega testa. Za analizo vseh parametrov je bil uporabljen enosmerni ANOVA test, statistična značilnost pa je bila določena pri p < 0,05. Rezultati so pokazali, da med polimorfizmoma genov PPARA rs4253778 in ACTN3 rs1815739 ter parametri anaerobne zmogljivosti niso bile ugotovljene statistično značilne razlike (p > 0,05). Statistično značilne razlike so bile ugotovljene med polimorfizmom gena IL-6 rs1800795 in parametrom anaerobne zmogljivosti hrbtne moči (p < 0,05). Torej, pri odbojki polimorfizma genov PPARA rs4253778 in ACTN3 rs1815739 nista povzročila razlik v parametrih anaerobne zmogljivosti. Vendar je polimorfizem gena IL-6 vplival na razlikovanje zgolj pri parametru hrbtne moči. Poleg tega dobra zmogljivost športnikov z različno zastopanimi genotipi pri proučevanih merilih ne razkriva popolnoma, katere dejavnike zmogljivosti dejansko določajo geni oziroma njihova porazdelitev. Jasno je, da so potrebne nadaljnje raziskave za natančnejšo opredelitev odnosa med geni in zmogljivostjo
ASSESSMENT OF MEAT OXIDATIVE STABILITY, NUTRITIONAL AND FATTY ACID COMPOSITIONS OF EARLY AGE ACCLIMATED AND GENETICALLY THERMORESISTANT BROILERS
This study explores the implication of early-age heat conditioning (EHC) and genetic thermotolerance on fatty acid compositions and oxidative stability in broiler meat quality. We employed an early heat stress strategy, involving a 24-hour exposure to 39±1°C on the fifth-day post-hatch, to acclimatise broiler chicks. Three groups were compared: control (C), acclimated (Ac), and naked neck (NN). The acclimated group exhibited significant changes in fatty acid composition compared to the control. The concentration of oleic acid (C18:1 n9) in the acclimated group was higher by approximately 8.5% compared to the control group. Similarly, linoleic acid (C18:2 n6) increased with a fold change of about 12%. The essential fatty acids like eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) also showed notable increases, with a more balanced n-6/n-3 ratio. In terms of meat composition, Ac and NN demonstrated increased levels of ash and minerals, while maintaining comparable protein contents to C. The percentage differences in these fatty acids highlight the impact of EHC on improving the nutritional broilers’ meat quality. Furthermore, lipid peroxidation was significantly reduced in the Ac group, with thiobarbituric reactive substances (TBARS) concentrations at 0.100 mg/kg, a 56% reduction compared to that of controls 0.227 mg/kg. This reduction underscores the effectiveness of EHC in enhancing meat\u27s oxidative stability. These results suggest that early-age heat stress acclimatization and genetic thermotolerance strategies can play a key role in enhancing the quality and nutritional value of broiler meat, offering a sustainable method to counter the challenges posed by increasing global temperatures in poultry production.
Ocena oksidativne stabilnosti mesa, hranilne vrednosti in sestave maščobnih kislin zgodaj aklimatiziranih in genetsko termoodpornih brojlerjev
Izvleček: Raziskava je preučevala vpliv zgodnje toplotne aklimatizacije (EHC) in genetske toplotne odpornosti na sestavo maščobnih kislin in oksidativno stabilnost pri kakovosti mesa brojlerjev. Za aklimatizacijo piščancev brojlerjev smo uporabili strategijo zgodnjega toplotnega stresa, ki je vključevala 24-urno izpostavljenost temperaturi 39 ± 1 °C peti dan po izvalitvi. Primerjali smo tri skupine: kontrolno (C), aklimatizirano (Ac) in skupino z golim vratom (NN). Pri aklimatizirani skupini so se v primerjavi s kontrolno skupino pokazale znatne spremembe v sestavi maščobnih kislin. Koncentracija oleinske kisline (C18:1 n9) v aklimatizirani skupini je bila za približno 8,5 odstotka višja v primerjavi s kontrolno skupino. Podobno se je linolna kislina (C18:2 n6) povečala za približno 12 odstotkov. Tudi esencialne maščobne kisline, kot sta eikozapentaenojska kislina (EPA) in dokozaheksaenojska kislina (DHA), so se občutno zvišale, razmerje n-6/n-3 pa je bilo bolj uravnoteženo. Kar zadeva hranilno vrednost mesa, sta imeli skupini Ac in NN povečano vsebnost pepela in mineralov, pri čemer sta ohranili primerljivo vsebnost beljakovin v primerjavi s skupino C. Odstotne razlike v omenjenih maščobnih kislinah poudarjajo vpliv EHC na izboljšanje prehranske kakovosti mesa brojlerjev. Poleg tega se je lipidna peroksidacija v skupini Ac znatno zmanjšala, pri čemer je bila koncentracija tiobarbituričnih reaktivnih snovi (TBARS) 0,100 mg/kg, kar je 56-odstotno zmanjšanje v primerjavi s kontrolno skupino (0,227 mg/kg). To zmanjšanje poudarja učinkovitost EHC pri izboljšanju oksidativne stabilnosti mesa. Rezultati kažejo, da lahko imajo zgodnja aklimatizacija na vročinski stres in strategije genetske toplotne odpornosti ključno vlogo pri izboljšanju kakovosti in hranilne vrednosti mesa brojlerjev, kar ponuja trajnostno metodo za spopadanje z izzivi, ki jih v proizvodnji perutnine predstavljajo naraščajoče globalne temperature.

EFFECTS OF SELENIUM NANOPARTICLES AND CHITOSAN ON MEAT QUALITY, LIPID PROFILE, TISSUE MINERAL CONTENT AND TIBIAL BONE MORPHOMETRY IN HEAT STRESSED BROILERS
This study aimed to assess the effects of selenium and selenium nanoparticles with chitosan on broiler chickens during heat stress. In this study, total 336 chicks were raised. These birds were split into seven groups, each with six sets of eight birds, depending on the treatments they received. There were two control groups: one with the regular diet (negative control) and another with the regular diet plus heat stress (positive control) known as A and B Groups respectively. The remaining groups were as follows: Group-C (Basal diet+0.3mg/kg selenium), Group-D (Basal diet + 0.3mg/kg nano selenium + heat stress), Group-E (basal diet+300mg/kg chitosan+heat stress), Group-F (basal diet+0.3mg/kg selenium+300mg/kg chitosan+ heat stress) and Group-G (0.3mg nano selenium + 300mg/kg chitosan/+basal diet + heat stress). The various parameters were analyzed, including drip loss, cooking loss, lipid profiles, mineral content, and bone characteristics was significantly improved in Group G, receiving nano selenium and chitosan under heat stress. Moreover, Group G showed higher selenium, calcium, and phosphorus content in breast muscle tissue, along with tibial bone characteristics such as weight, length, wall thickness, density, and medullary canal diameter as compared to group-B. Although weight/length index showed no significant differences, Group G demonstrated the highest Tibiotarsal Index (TTI) and Robusticity Index (RI). These findings suggest the beneficial effects of nano selenium and chitosan supplementation, particularly evident under heat stress conditions.
Učinki nanodelcev selena in hitozana na kakovost mesa, lipidni profil, vsebnost mineralov v tkivih in morfometrijo golenice pri toplotno obremenjenih brojlerjih
Izvleček: Namen raziskave je bil oceniti učinke selena in selenovih nanodelcev s hitozanom na piščance brojlerje v času toplotnega stresa. V tej študiji je bilo vzrejenih 336 piščancev. Razdeljeni so bili v sedem skupin, vsaka je vsebovala šest enot, v katerih je bilo nastanjenih po osem piščancev, odvisno od zdravljenja, ki so ga prejeli. Bili sta dve kontrolni skupini: ena z običajno prehrano (negativna kontrola) in druga z običajno prehrano in toplotnim stresom (pozitivna kontrola), imenovani skupini A in B. Druge skupine so bile: skupina C (osnovna prehrana + 0,3 mg/kg selena), skupina D (osnovna prehrana + 0,3 mg/kg nanoselena + toplotni stres), skupina E (osnovna prehrana + 300 mg/kg hitozana + toplotni stres), skupina F (osnovna prehrana + 0,3 mg/kg selena + 300 mg/kg hitozana + toplotni stres) in skupina G (0,3 mg nanoselena + 300 mg/kg hitozana/+ osnovna prehrana + toplotni stres). Analizirani so bili različni parametri, vključno z izgubo vode iz mesa, izgubo vode pri kuhanju, lipidnimi profili, vsebnostjo mineralov in značilnostmi kosti, ki so se v skupini G, ki je prejemala nanoselen in hitozan pod vročinskim stresom, znatno izboljšali. Poleg tega so bile pri skupini G v primerjavi s skupino B ugotovljena višja vsebnost selena, kalcija in fosforja v prsni muskulaturi piščancev ter boljše lastnosti golenice, kot so masa, dolžina, debelina stene, gostota in premer medularnega kanala. Čeprav indeks mase/dolžine ni pokazal bistvenih razlik, sta bila pri skupini G ugotovljena najvišja tibiotarzalni indeks (TTI) in indeks robustnosti (RI). Te ugotovitve kažejo na ugodne učinke dodajanja nanoselena in hitozana, ki so še posebej očitni v razmerah vročinskega stresa.

THE EFFECT OF EGGSHELL HYDROXYAPATITE POWDER AND AUTOLOGOUS BONE MARROW ON THE HEALING OF BONE DEFECTS IN RABBITS
The repair of bone defects remains a challenge for clinical orthopedic surgery. Therefore, the present study was designed to evaluate the effect of using eggshell hydroxyapatite (eHA), which was prepared previously from avian eggshell by hydrothermal method and autologous bone marrow aspirated from the femoral bone, on the healing of bone gap defect on the radius bone of the right forelimb in rabbits. This study was conducted on 28 male rabbits divided randomly into four groups each (n=7); in all experimental animals (10 mm length × 2mm width), a bone gap was induced at the mid-shaft of the radius bone reaching the marrow cavity at the right forelimb. The defect in GI was left open as a control group without any additives. In GII, the bone gap was filled with eHA powder; in GIII, it was filled with eHA powder. The bone gap was filled with autologous bone marrow, and in GIV, the bone defect was equally filled with a combination of eHA and bone marrow. Experimental animals were followed up clinically, radiographically at (2, 4, 6, 8) weeks post-operatively, and histopathologically at (4, 6) weeks post-operatively. The radiological and histopathological findings revealed promising results in treated groups compared to a control group, with the best results in the combination of eHA and autologous bone marrow. In conclusion, the use of eHA and autologous bone marrow is considered a beneficial graft material in bone defect regeneration.
Vpliv prahu hidroksiapatita iz jajčne lupine in avtolognega kostnega mozga na celjenje kostnih poškodb pri kuncihIzvleček: Sanacija kostnih defektov ostaja izziv za klinično ortopedsko kirurgijo. Zato je bil namen te raziskave oceniti učinek uporabe hidroksiapatita iz jajčne lupine (eHA), predhodno pripravljenega iz jajčne lupine ptic s hidrotermalno metodo, in avtolognega kostnega mozga, pridobljenega iz stegnenice, na celjenje kostnega defekta na radialni kosti desne sprednje okončine pri kuncih. Študija je bila izvedena na 28 samcih kuncev, naključno razdeljenih v štiri skupine (n = 7); pri vseh poskusnih živalih (dolžina 10 mm × širina 2 mm) je bila ustvarjena kostna vrzel na sredini desne koželjnice, ki je segala do kostnega mozga. Vrzel v skupini GI je ostala odprta kot kontrolna skupina brez kakršnihkoli dodanih snovi. V skupini GII je bila kostna vrzel zapolnjena s prahom eHA. V skupini GIII je bila kostna vrzel zapolnjena z avtolognim kostnim mozgom, v GIV pa s kombinacijo eHA in kostnega mozga. Poskusne živali so bile klinično spremljane, rentgensko pregledane 2 tedna ter 4, 6 in 8 tednov po operaciji, histopatološko pa 4 tedne in 6 tednov po operaciji. Radiološke in histopatološke ugotovitve so pokazale obetavne rezultate v zdravljenih skupinah v primerjavi s kontrolno skupino, pri čemer so bili najboljši rezultati pri kombinaciji eHA in avtolognega kostnega mozga. Sklenemo lahko, da uporaba eHA in avtolognega kostnega mozga velja za koristen presadni material pri regeneraciji kostnih defektov.

MORPHOLOGICAL AND MOLECULAR DIFFERENTIATION OF Clinostomum complanatum (Digenea: Clinostomidae) METACERCARIAE INFECTING Cyprinus carpio IN ARAS RIVER
Clinostomiasis is one of the parasitic diseases infecting freshwater fish caused by digenean trematode of the Clinostomidae family. In this study a total of 100 fish belonging to the nine species were collected from Aras River in 2021-2022. The collected fish then analyzed for infection with Clinostomum complanatum (C. complanatum) metacercaria. The partial mitochondrial COX-I gene were amplified for sequencing and phylogenetic analyses. Only one specimen belonging to Cyprinus carpio were found to be infected with metacercariae with the prevalence of 5%. The sequence analysis confirmed morphological identification as all metacercariae were belonging to C. complanatum with homology of 100% with other sequences of C. complanatum available in the NCBI database. The present study reports the first case of C. complanatum in Cyprinus carpio in Iran by morphological and molecular methods and emphasizes the possible risk of transmission for consumers.
Morfološka in molekularna diferenciacija metacerkarij Clinostomum complanatum (Digenea: Clinostomidae), ki invadirajo Cyprinus carpio v reki Aras
Izvleček: Klinostomoza je ena od parazitskih bolezni sladkovodnih rib, ki jo povzročajo digeni trematodi iz družine Clinostomidae. V raziskavi je bilo v letih 2021–2022 v reki Aras ulovljenih 100 rib, ki pripadajo devetim vrstam. Ulovljene ribe so nato analizirali na prisotnost metacerkarij Clinostomum complanatum (C. complanatum). Delni mitohondrijski gen COX-I je bil pomnožen za sekvenciranje in filogenetske analize. Z metacerkarijami je bil invadiran le en primerek, ki je pripadal Cyprinus carpio, in sicer s 5-odstotno prevalenco. Analiza zaporedja je potrdila morfološko identifikacijo, saj so vse metacerkarije pripadale C. complanatum s 100-odstotno homologijo z drugimi zaporedji C. complanatum, ki so na voljo v podatkovni bazi NCBI. Pričujoča študija poroča o prvem primeru C. complanatum pri Cyprinus carpio v Iranu z morfološkimi in molekularnimi metodami ter poudarja morebitno tveganje prenosa na potrošnike.

A PRELIMINARY ASSESSMENT OF THE IMPACT OF HONEY ON THE REPRODUCTIVE PERFORMANCE OF NAKED NECK HENS: EFFECT OF HONEY ON NAKED NECK HENS PERFORMANCE
Honey is natural nectar that bees gather from a variety of flowers. Different chemicals found in honey are essential for the growth of tissues and organs in all living things. The goal of the current study was to compare the effects of three different honey concentrations [0 g (control), 5 g (group A), and 10 g (group B)] on the reproductive efficiency and egg quality attributes of naked neck hens over a 35-day period. A total of 90 (72♀:18♂) naked neck hens (75 weeks old) were stratified at random into three experimental groups, each with three replicates of 10 birds (8♀:2♂) each, under a completely randomized design (CRD). The experimental groups—control, A, and B received supplemental treatments of honey in drinking water at concentrations of 0 g/liter, 5 g/liter, and 10 g/liter, respectively. One-way ANOVA with CRD was used to analyze the data. In comparison to the control and group A, group B had significantly increased egg production, egg fertility, and egg hatchability. However, statistical analysis revealed no changes (P>0.05) in the fertile hatch rate between the treatment groups. In the first and second week of the experiment, there were no statistically significant differences between the eggs from different treatments in terms of eggshell weight and eggshell ratio. There were also no significant differences between three treatments in the thickness of the eggshells in the first week of the experiment. Nonetheless, when compared to the control and group A, a positive (P<0.05) effect was seen in the group B\u27s overall means of egg weight, eggshell weight, eggshell ratio, and eggshell thickness in the third week of the experiment. Similar to this, group B had significantly higher mean values for egg length, egg breadth, egg shape index, egg volume, and egg surface area than did group A and the control. In conclusion, honey at a concentration of 10 g/liter (w/v) may prove effective when given orally to elderly laying hens.
Preliminarna ocena vpliva medu na reproduktivno zmogljivost kokoši z golim vratom
Izvleček: Med je naravni nektar, ki ga čebele nabirajo na različnih cvetovih. Različne kemikalije, ki jih najdemo v njem, so bistvene za rast tkiv in organov vseh živih bitij. Cilj te študije je bil primerjati učinke treh različnih koncentracij medu [0 g (kontrola), 5 g (skupina A) in 10 g (skupina B)] na reproduktivno sposobnost in kakovost jajc pri kokoših z golim vratom v 35-dnevnem obdobju. Skupaj 90 (72 ♀ : 18 ♀) kokoši z golim vratom (starih 75 tednov) je bilo naključno razdeljenih v tri poskusne skupine, vsaka s tremi ponovitvami po 10 kokoši (8 ♀ : 2 ♀) v popolnoma randomiziranem vzorcu (CRD). Poskusne skupine – kontrola, A in B – so dobile med v pitni vodi v koncentracijah 0 g/liter, 5 g/liter in 10 g/liter. Za analizo podatkov je bila uporabljena enosmerna ANOVA s CRD. V primerjavi s kontrolno skupino in skupino A so se pri skupini B znatno povečale proizvodnja jajc, oplojenost in valilnost jajc. Vendar statistična analiza ni pokazala sprememb (P > 0,05) v deležu oplojenih jajc med skupinami. V prvem in drugem tednu poskusa med jajci iz različnih obravnav ni bilo statistično značilnih razlik glede mase jajčne lupine in razmerja jajčnih lupin. Prav tako med tremi obravnavami v prvem tednu poskusa ni bilo statistično značilnih razlik v debelini jajčne lupine. Kljub temu je bil v primerjavi s kontrolo in skupino A v tretjem tednu poskusa opažen pozitiven (P < 0,05) učinek pri skupnih povprečnih vrednostih mase jajc, mase jajčne lupine, razmerja jajčne lupine in debeline jajčne lupine v skupini B. Podobno je imela skupina B bistveno višje povprečne vrednosti dolžine jajc, širine jajc, indeksa oblike jajc, prostornine jajc in površine jajc kot skupina A in kontrolna skupina. Zaključimo lahko, da se med v koncentraciji 10 g/liter (m/v) lahko izkaže za učinkovitega, če se daje peroralno starejšim kokošim nesnicam.
