(R2066) New Results of Ulam Stabilities of Functional Differential Equations of First Order Including Multiple Retardations

    Get PDF
In this study, we pay attention to a functional differential equation (FDE) of first order including N-variable delays. We construct new sufficient conditions in relation to the Hyers-Ulam stability (HUS) and the generalized Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability (GHURS ) of the FDE of first order including N-variable delays. By using Banach contraction principle (BCP), Picard operator and Gronwall lemma, we confirm two new theorems in relation to the HUS and the GHURS. The results of this study are new and extend, improve some earlier results of the HUS and the GHURS

Mindfulness Training To Reduce Perceived Stress Among Manufacturing Employees: An Evidence-Based Project

    Get PDF
Background: Stress, a state of emotional or physical tension, is experienced by individuals for various reasons. The American Psychological Association identifies money, work, and the economy as the most frequently cited sources of stress. Workers in manufacturing settings are particularly susceptible to increased levels of perceived stress due to the demanding nature of their work. To reduce stress levels, some manufacturing companies have begun implementing different interventions, including mindfulness-based stress reduction. Objectives: The aim of this project was to implement a weekly 30-minute mindfulness training program over six weeks to reduce perceived stress levels among manufacturing employees at a company located in a large metropolitan region in south-central Texas. PICOT Question: Will implementation of an evidence-based mindfulness program (I) reduce perceived stress levels (O) in manufacturing workers (P) compared to the pre-intervention period (C) within six weeks (T)? Methodology: This project employed a pre-and post-intervention survey design. The perceived stress scale (PSS) survey, a traditional stress assessment tool consisting of a 10-item questionnaire and a demographics questionnaire, was administered to 37 workers before training. For six weeks, mindfulness-based interventions, such as breathing exercises, meditation, journaling, and guided body scan training, were introduced through weekly reading materials, videos, and practice sessions. After the six-week training, a follow-up assessment using the PSS survey was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention. Data evaluation was performed using Intellectus Statistics, and two-tailed Wilcoxon signed-rank tests were used to determine the significance of the pre-and post-intervention findings. Results: The findings demonstrated a significant (p = 0.41) reduction in perceived stress levels among manufacturing workers of African American, White, and Asian ethnicities, due to the evidence-based mindfulness training program. Conclusion: Mindfulness practices can improve manufacturing-employee well-being, enhance performance, and foster positive interpersonal relationships. Mindfulness training can contribute to a healthier and more productive manufacturing environment by promoting present-moment awareness and reducing stress. Implication for Practice: Mindfulness practices enhance the well-being of manufacturing workers by increasing self-awareness, reducing perceived workplace stress, and fostering an environment for daily practice. Keywords: mindfulness, stress, manufacturing worker

(R2050) Dual Quaternion Matrices and MATLAB Applications

    Get PDF
There are many studies in the literature on real quaternions and real quaternion matrices. There are few studies in the literature on dual quaternions. Definitions of the matrices of dual quaternions used in this study will be given. The originality of our research, the set of dual quaternion matrix we studied, will be defined for the first time in this study, and its properties will be given. Moreover, this study is critical because it is an applied study related to dual quaternion matrices. It will be easier to solve examples with large matrix sizes with MATLAB. People who use different programs can also write applications inspired by them. In this work, the set of dual quaternion matrices is examined. Among the dual quaternion matrices, additional features such as addition, multiplication, inverse, transpose, conjugate, power, and trace are explored. In addition, real matrix representations of dual quaternion matrices and their characteristics were developed. These were utilized to determine the dual quaternion matrices’ determinants and inverses. In addition, many types of determinants and inverses of dual quaternion matrices were created, and MATLAB applications were developed to facilitate the solution of cases utilizing these techniques. Finally, the results and methodologies were compared to the actual quaternion matrix characteristics

The Relationship Between Student Academic Performance, Pre And In-College Factors, And Trends Since Covid-19 At An HBCU

    Get PDF
This study used the Ecological System theory developed by Bronfenbrenner (1992) to understand African American students’ academic performance at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU). The systems include the microsystem (for example, family, school, and peers), mesosystem (for example, relationships between different microsystems), exosystem (for example, community and societal institutions), and macrosystem (for example, cultural and societal values) (Peppler, 2017). These systems can all have an impact on student academic performance. This quantitative study utilized archival data to examine three research questions to reveal the relationship between student academic performance and (a) pre-college factors (high school GPA and SAT), (b) student financial dependency status, and (c) the COVID-19 pandemic. Keywords: covid-19 pandemic, dependent status, dependent student, independent studen
