How to Improve Brand Relationships Using Intergenerational Capital ?
International audienceThis research explores the influence of culinary practice transmission on the consumer-brand relationship. To investigate how brands could better leverage intergenerational transmissions in their strategies, we rely on the theoretical frameworks of intergenerational capital (Guillemot, 2018, Ladwein et al., 2009) and consumer-brand relationships (Fournier, 1998). These theoretical frameworks are especially pertinent within the context of culinary practices, where transmission is expected to fortify emotional and identity-driven bonds across generations (Certeau, 1994), providing brands with a distinctive opportunity for differentiation (Fox and Alldred, 2019). The intergenerational transmission of culinary practices thus prompts the central question of this research: to what extent can intergenerational transmissions through intergenerational capital enrich the consumer-brand relationship? To address this question, an experimental study (N=320) involving two brands (authentic, practical-economic) and three representations of intergenerational capital (sharing between two generations, product as the centerpiece of transmission, integration of life dynamics) is conducted, demonstrating that consumer-brand relationships vary according to these factors. An integrative model is then proposed and tested. Our results establish the benefits of a positioning centered on intergenerational capital. This approach provides brands an opportunity to integrate into the family dynamic, allowing them to embody shared practices (Kessous et al., 2015). Intergenerational capital, therefore, has tangible impacts on the consumer-brand relationship. L’univers du self-care : entre autonomisation du consommateur et enrichissement de la marque-enseigne. Le Cas des Compléments Alimentaires en France.
International audienceThis research delves into a relatively understudied practice in marketing, from both the consumer's and the brand's perspective, that has garnered significant interest among consumers: the consumption of dietary supplements. This product category belongs to the realm of self-care and contributes to consumer empowerment. Distribution channels tend to diversify in a market where pharmacies maintain a dominant position. Recent developments, including successful startups and the need to democratize this practice, have led to the emergence of offerings from major retail players. Hence, dietary supplements could serve as a tool for enhancing brands through the listing of products that foster consumer empowerment. Consumer empowerment (Nistar et al., 2018) and brand management (Zentes et al., 2008) thus constitute a highly pertinent theoretical framework for exploring the launch of dietary supplements in major retail settings. Based on a qualitative study through interviews, we present the nature, the interest in use, and the integration of dietary supplements within the self-care domain. Subsequently, we employ a quantitative study via a questionnaire to identify the profile of dietary supplement consumers and the key success factors for listing such offerings by retail-brands. Thus, our research highlights theoretical and managerial contributions.Cette recherche s’intéresse à une pratique peu étudiée en marketing, tant du point de vue du consommateur que de celui des marques-enseignes, et qui suscite un réel intérêt auprès des consommateurs : la consommation de compléments alimentaires. Cette catégorie de produit appartient à l’univers du self-care et contribue à l’autonomisation des consommateurs. Les circuits de distribution tendent à se diversifier sur un marché où les officines conservent une large hégémonie. L’actualité récente avec des startups à succès ou encore le besoin de démocratisation de la pratique donnent naissance à l’apparition de l’offre auprès des acteurs de la grande distribution. Ainsi, les compléments alimentaires pourraient représenter un outil au service de l’enrichissement des marques-enseignes par le biais du référencement d’une offre contribuant à l’autonomisation des consommateurs. L’autonomisation des consommateurs (Nistar et al., 2018) et la marque-enseigne (Zentes et al. 2008) constituent donc un cadre théorique des plus pertinents afin d’approfondir le lancement des compléments alimentaires en grande distribution. A partir d’une étude qualitative par entretien, nous présentons la nature, l’intérêt d’utilisation et l’intégration des compléments alimentaires au sein de l’univers du self-care. Nous mobilisons dans un second temps une étude quantitative par questionnaire afin d’identifier les profils des consommateurs de compléments alimentaires et les facteurs clefs de succès pour le référencement de l’offre à destination des marques-enseignes. Uncovering a new family of conserved virulence factors that promote the production of host‐damaging outer membrane vesicles in gram‐negative bacteria
International audienceCprA is a short‐chain dehydrogenase/reductase (SDR) that contributes to resistance against colistin and antimicrobial peptides. The cprA gene is conserved across Pseudomonas aeruginosa clades and its expression is directly regulated by the two‐component system PmrAB. We have shown that cprA expression leads to the production of outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) that block autophagic flux and have a greater capacity to activate the non‐canonical inflammasome pathway. In a murine model of sepsis, a P. aeruginosa strain deleted for cprA was less virulent than the wild‐type (WT) strain. These results demonstrate the important role of CprA in the pathogenicity of P. aeruginosa . It is worth noting that CprA is also a functional ortholog of hemolysin F (HlyF), which is encoded by virulence plasmids of Escherichia coli . We have shown that other cryptic SDRs encoded by mammalian and plant pathogens, such as Yersinia pestis and Ralstonia solanacearum are functional orthologs of CprA and HlyF. These SDRs also induce the production of OMVs which block autophagic flux. This study uncovers a new family of virulence determinants in Gram‐negative bacteria, offering potential for innovative therapeutic interventions and deeper insights into bacterial pathogenesis
The underground weathering of Toarcian black shales from SE France and its paleoenvironmental, taphonomical and biogeochemical consequences
International audienceOrganic-rich strata deposited under poorly oxygenated waters known as ‘black shales’ constitute key targets for paleobiological and paleoenvironmental studies. Little is known, however, about how these oxidation-sensitive lithologies and their key paleoenvironmental information can be affected by recent chemical weathering. In this study, we present new geochemical (organic and inorganic stable isotopes, TOC, CaCO3) and mineralogical (concentration and size distribution of pyrite framboids) data from weathered and unweathered black shales and limestone beds recording the Toarcian Oceanic Anoxic Event (T-OAE) from Beaujolais (SE France). These analyses show that the organic carbon of the weathered samples have decreased by 97% and is generally 13C-enriched relative to coeval pristine samples. The resulting offset in organic carbon isotope (δ13Corg) varies from 0.1 to as much as 4‰ along the studied succession, likely reflecting temporal changes in the carbon isotope composition of the labile and refractory end-members across the T-OAE. Mildly weathered samples contain >50% less pyrite framboids than pristine samples, but preserve their size distribution, making this the latter a reliable proxy of original water column oxygenation. Pyrite dissolution was total in the highly weathered samples, which produced sulfuric acid and a moderate loss of the CaCO3 fraction. The substantial 13C- and 18O-depletion recorded in the most weathered samples indicate that a part of the dissolved carbonate reprecipitated after exchanging with CO2-rich meteoric waters. These results imply that underground continental weathering can dramatically alter the paleoenvironmental and taphonomical signals in organic rich-strata located at >40 m below the surface and should hence be more systematically considered when analyzing outcrop and subsurface data. In addition, our tentative estimates of petrogenic carbon oxidation rates at the study site are 2 to 10 times higher than that of other sedimentary rocks, suggesting that the fault-assisted oxidation of black shales in regions located away from active orogenic areas may contribute disproportionately to the global carbon cycle budget

Search for charge-parity violation in semileptonically tagged decays
International audienceAn analysis of the flavour oscillations of the charmed neutral meson is presented. The ratio of and decay rates is measured as a function of the decay time of the meson and compared with the charge-conjugated system to search for charge-parity violation. The meson flavour at production is double-tagged by the charges of the muon and pion in the preceding and decays, respectively. These decays are selected from proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of . The flavour oscillation parameters, relating to the differences in mass and width of the mass eigenstates, are found to be and . Analyse rétrospective de la mission ESCRIM sur Mayotte pendant la période noire Covid 19 en février 2021
Introduction : la pandémie COVID-19 frappe massivement le département français de Mayotte en janvier 2021. Malgré toutes les mesures prises au niveau local, le système de santé est saturé. Devant ce tableau, l’État décide d’envoyer des moyens en renfort. L’ESCRIM (Élément de Sécurité Civile Rapide d’Intervention Médicalisé) est le seul hôpital de campagne français certifié par l’Organisation Mondiale de la Santé (OMS). Il est habituellement envoyé sur des catastrophes. Il est déployé sur Petite Terre afin d’y créer un service d’urgence et une ligne de véhicule léger de secours médicalisé (VLSM) jour et nuit, 7 jours sur 7, pour décharger l’hôpital principal de Mamoudzou (CHM). L’objectif principal de cette étude est d'analyser l’activité de l’ESCRIM du 26 février 2021 au 22 mars 2021. Les objectifs secondaires sont l’analyse de l’activité de la ligne de VLSM assurée par le personnel de l’ESCRIM sur la même période et l’analyse comparative de l’activité des urgences de Mamoudzou au moment de la mission de l’ESCRIM. Matériels et méthodes : cette étude observationnelle descriptive s’appuie sur l’analyse des dossiers médicaux des 708 patients ayant consulté sur l’ESCRIM, des 25 patients pris en charge en SMUR et des données des patients ayant consulté au service d’urgence du CHM du 25/01/21 au 22/04/2021. Résultats et analyse : l’ESCRIM a, du 28 février 2021 au 24 mars 2021, accueilli 708 patients sur sa structure, soit 28 par jour en moyenne. Les pathologies traumatiques représentaient un tiers des motifs de consultations, les deux autres tiers représentant les pathologies médicales. Ces données sont comparables à un service d’urgence en métropole. 11% (79) des patients étaient critiques versus 24% au CHM. L’ESCRIM a permis de décharger un secteur entier pour la ligne de VLSM (Petite Terre) avec 25 prises en charge (primaire et secondaires confondus, soit 1 par jour en moyenne). Il a permis de détourner 22% du flux de patientèle des urgences du CHM pendant 1 mois.Conclusion : l’ESCRIM a été déployé dans un contexte de pandémie mondiale pour la deuxième fois mais dans des conditions particulières. Si de nombreuses difficultés, dans la mise en place, la réarticulation et l’originalité de cette mission ont été soulevées, l’adaptation et le soin de cultiver des liens avec les partenaires locaux ont permis la réalisation de cette mission et de soulager le Centre Hospitalier de Mayotte. Module d'urgence et de catastrophe unique en France, l’ESCRIM et ses personnels ont permis une nouvelle fois de mettre en avant leur expertise pour prodiguer des soins en situation critique
Liquidity, Collateral Quality and Interest Rate
This paper analyzes how collateral quality shocks affect banks' liquidity management and the risk-free rate. We develop a model where banks manage liquidity through near-cash assets and marketable securities subject to idiosyncratic and/or aggregate shocks. Collateral quality deterioration leads to non-monotonic changes in liquidity holdings: moderate declines reduce cash holdings via lower market returns, while severe declines cause precautionary hoarding and market freezes. Reduced collateral quality depresses the risk-free rate. Policy interventions, including liquidity regulation and negative interest rate policies can mitigate these effects. Our findings highlight the risks of collateral quality shocks and the importance of policy complementarities in addressing liquidity issues
