The impact of ethical logos on purchase intention: the mediating role of product social responsibility
International audienceThis paper aims to better understand an increasingly prevalent practice whereby firms affix certified ethical logos (e.g. Fairtrade, 100% organic, Ecolab, etc.) to their products, leveraging perceived product social responsibility (PSR) to enhance purchase intention. Design/methodology/approach A between-subjects experiment was conducted among 484 French consumers, focusing on two brands of chocolate bars. Findings The study reveals a significant increase in purchase intentions when products feature an ethical logo, with PSR acting as a mediator. Additionally, three variables – logo equity, brand equity and the attribution of altruistic motivations to the brand – emerge as significant predictors of PSR in the presence of an ethical logo. Surprisingly, neither the fit between the brand and the logo nor the attribution of strategic motivations influence PSR. Moreover, the impact of PSR on purchase intention is found to be moderated by consumers’ moral identity. Research limitations/implications The research continues and deepens the work of Brown and Dacin (1997) by precisely defining and measuring PSR. In addition, its antecedents are identified, and it is shown that PSR is almost a complete mediator of the identified variables on purchase intention. This result demonstrates that the PSR construct provides both greater explanatory and predictive power than similar concepts and is therefore very useful. The research also contributes to a better understanding of ethical logos as a special kind of brand and sheds light on the complex mechanism of consumers’ attribution. Practical implications From a managerial perspective, this work contributes to explaining why, how and for which target it is relevant to certify consumer goods with ethical logos. Some guidelines on labeling strategy are thus provided. Originality/value This research contributes to the literature on labeling and social responsibility by delineating the concept of PSR, assessing its measurement and identifying its antecedents and consequences for purchase intention

Enhancing urban transportation flow modeling through a graph neural network-based spatially weighted interaction model: a case study of Chicago taxi data
International audienceTransportation flow modeling is critical in predicting and analyzing movements within networks, enabling effective travel forecasting, infrastructure optimization, and urban planning enhancement. Conventional studies often focus on origins and destinations to understand movement patterns but overlook the spatial characteristics of flows. The Spatially Weighted Interaction Model (SWIM) directly models flows but simplifies them as direct lines between origins and destinations, ignoring their spatial distributions. This limitation hinders SWIM’s ability to address spatial non-stationarity, which reduces prediction accuracy. This study aims to enhance transportation flow modeling by integrating a network-constrained approach into SWIM. It introduces the Graph Neural Network-Based Spatially Weighted Interaction Model (GNN-SWIM). It leverages GNNs to capture complex, nonlinear spatial relationships in transportation flows and estimate spatial similarities more effectively. By incorporating these spatial similarities as weights into SWIM, GNN-SWIM better represents spatial non-stationarity, leading to improved prediction accuracy. A real-world experiment using Chicago taxi trip data demonstrates that GNN-SWIM effectively captures spatial non-stationarity. It estimates coefficients that vary across geographical areas and outperforms conventional methods in prediction accuracy. These findings provide valuable insights for urban planners and policymakers to optimize transportation networks and enhance urban mobility

International audienceThe general aim of this article is to analyze the conditions for participating in the construction of a francophone Quebec identity based on narratives of immigrants from the Maghreb. My discursive analysis of a body of interviews on the development and realization of the migration project in Quebec reveals a dissonance between the political objectives of francophone immigration and the experiences of individuals. For example, pre-migratory representations of Quebec, constructed by a set of discourses promoting immigration, are called into question when immigrants’ idealized image of the mobility experience is confronted with the difficulties of their socio-professional integration in Quebec. At the same time, francophone identity can hardly be conceived of as a composite identity. Moreover, the social legitimacy of varieties of French from different francophone areas has yet to be confirmed. In conclusion, the participation of plurilingual francophones from the Maghreb, as all francophones from the French peripheries, in the linguistic identity of Quebec is conditioned by the inclusive character of a “français d’ici” (French from here), understood as a “français d’ici comprenant des français d’ailleurs,” in other words, a French that reflects Quebec society, which is intrinsically heterogeneous and changing.L’objectif général de cet article est d’analyser les conditions de participation à l’édification de l’identité francophone québécoise telles qu’elles apparaissent dans les récits d’immigrant·e·s du Maghreb.

Cardiogenetics and uncertainty: Evaluation of professional vulnerability in France
International audienceScientific advances in genomics are transforming healthcare and prevention. However, they also increase situations of uncertainty, which in turn increase vulnerability not only for patients and their families but also for professionals. Cardiogenetics plays a crucial role in preventing sudden death in young individuals, but it can pose complex challenges for healthcare teams. To study professionals' perspectives and experiences regarding cardiogenetics-related vulnerability, a national online survey was conducted in France to gather insight from professionals involved in the care pathway of individuals with cardiogenetic conditions. The survey targeted clinical geneticists, genetic counselors, cardiologists, nurses, and psychologists, in collaboration with the CARDIOGEN network. Out of 86 respondents, the majority (64%) reported experiencing vulnerability, which was not correlated with their profession, experience, or the organization of their clinics. Acknowledged vulnerabilities were mainly related to uncertainties regarding incomplete penetrance, variable expression, and genotype-phenotype disparities in cardiogenetics, exacerbated by the evolving interpretation of genetic data, due to the increased access to genomics. Additionally, the implications of these issues, particularly in cases of unexplained sudden deaths that necessitated genetic investigations and family follow up recommendations, raised further concerns. The reported vulnerabilities encompassed both the need for specialized knowledge and the structural complexities of teams combining skills in genetics and cardiology. In addition, the professionals' capacity to empathize can add a degree of vulnerability. Finally, it seems important to focus on how cardiogenetics teams are organized, particularly through close collaboration among genetics and cardiology units, which could help reduce this feeling of vulnerability
