Preemptive DoS attacks on Time Sensitive Networks
Time-sensitive networking (TSN) is a promising technology for real-time communication in industrial and automotive networks. One of its key features is frame preemption, which allows high-priority traffic to interrupt the transmission of low-priority traffic, thereby reducing the delay of high-priority critical traffic. However, the deterministic nature of TSN frame preemption also makes it vulnerable to denial of service (DoS) attacks, which can severely impact flow quality of service (QoS) by increasing delays and packet loss. In this paper, we introduce the concept of preemptive DoS attacks and evaluate their impact on TSN QoS performance. We describe a strategy that attackers can use to estimate the preemption scheme configured in the switch and then demonstrate how an active attacker can use this information to degrade TSN QoS. Our simulation results indicate that even a single attacker can significantly deteriorate the QoS of TSN traffic. It is important to address this vulnerability in TSN and develop countermeasures to prevent preemptive DoS attacks from occurring

Grönland: So warm wie seit 1000 Jahren nicht
Greenland: Warmer than it has been for 1000 years - In 2012, temperatures above freezing were measured for the first time in the centre of the Greenland ice sheet. The associated surface melting, particularly in the lower marginal areas, influences the mass balance of the ice sheet and contributes to global sea level rise. In order to understand whether these episodes of increased temperature represent single extreme events of strong climate variability or whether they are signatures of global warming that will occur more frequently in the future, the observations of recent years must be placed in a historical context. What is the natural variability of temperature in central Greenland? How often have comparable warm episodes occurred in the past? Are these events isolated extreme cases or are they the result of a longer-term warming trend? This chapter reports on a new temperature reconstruction of the last 1000 years from Greenland ice cores and shows that the exceptionally high temperatures of the decade from 2001 to 2011 resulted from a superposition of natural variability and a long-term warming trend that has been visible since 1800 AD. This disproportionate warming in the north and centre of Greenland is accompanied by an increased outflow of meltwater in the peripheral areas of the ice sheet. The data show that anthropogenic global warming has also reached the remote area of northern and central Greenland and is now affecting the entire ice sheet, which could further accelerate global sea-level rise through the Greenland ice sheet

Unity Written Artefacts Infopanel template for displaying text and images inside the Virtual Theatre of Miletus. The template contains sample text and content and is provided as a Unity Prefab and uses only Unity Components. Additional Scripts for interacting with the panel are removed - depending on the use case and platform, custom scripts have to be created and added. The template is packed inside a .zip-file and contains two versions of the prefab - one using UHH fonts and one using Unity fonts. It also includes a sample image and Unity .meta-files. After unpacking, copy all files from the folder into the Unity Asset folder to use the template.

The interdisciplinary project RFB02 "Immersive City Scripts: Inscriptions and the Construction of Social Spaces in Miletus (Asia Minor)" investigates how inscriptions structured public spaces in the ancient city Miletus and Didyma. Part of the project is an immersive virtual reality application of the Milesian theatre, where you can explore and experience the inscriptions with the help of reconstructions, different light settings and agents in the virtual space. The project belongs to the Research Field B “Inscribing Spaces” of the first phase (2019-2025) of the Cluster of Excellence “Understanding Written Artefacts”.

Corpus Description
The INEL Evenki Corpus has been created within the long-term INEL project (Grammatical Descriptions, Corpora and Language Technology for Indigenous Northern Eurasian Languages), 2016–2033.
The corpus makes possible typologically aware corpus-based grammatical research on the Evenki (< Tungusic) language and expands the documentation of the lesser described indigenous languages of Northern Eurasia.
The INEL Evenki Corpus covers Northern (Taimyr, Khantayskoe Ozero, Ilimpi, Yerbogachyon) and Southern (Sym, Barhahan, and to a smaller extent Stony Tunguska and Nepa) Evenki dialects. These are exactly the dialects which are or were in contact with other languages included in the INEL project, that is first and foremost Dolgan and Selkup. The INEL Evenki Corpus contains texts from different sources:
Published texts from several text collections: Vasilevich (1936): the Ilimpi, Yerbogachyon, Sym, Nepa dialects; Anisimov (1936): the Stony Tunguska dialect; Brodskaya (1967): the Khantayskoe Ozero dialect.
Transcripts of recordings obtained from the Taimyr House of National Arts (TDNT) in Dudinka (2000s) as well as transcripts of recordings made by and from Tat`yana V. Bolina, all of them representing the Khantayskoe Ozero dialect. For these texts, corresponding time-aligned audio files are available.
Texts from the handwritten archive of the Russian ethnographer and linguist Konstantin M. Rychkov recorded in the 1900s/1910s, covering the Taimyr, Ilimpi, Sym, and Barhahan dialects.
Each text in the corpus is provided with morphological glossing, translation into English, Russian, and German, as well as annotation of Russian borrowings. Some texts also have annotations for syntactic functions, semantic roles, information status, as well as for existential, locative, and possessive predication.

Northern dialects (Ilimpi, Yerbogachyon, Khantayskoye Ozero, Taimyr):
176 texts, 7,091 sentences, 34,931 tokens
Southern “sh” dialects (Sym, Barhahan):
425 texts, 12,395 sentences, 55,674 tokens
Southern “s” dialects (Stony Tunguska, Nepa):
11 texts, 445 sentences, 2,659 tokens
Total: 612 texts, 19,931 sentences, 93,264 tokens
Total duration of audio: 3 hours 58 minutes (69 texts)
New in release 2.0
The total size of the corpus has increased about twice (from 47,708 to 93,264 tokens):
new texts in the Sym dialect from the Rychkov archive have been added (15,495 tokens), the entire Sym collection from the archive is now included in the corpus
a text collection in the Barhahan dialect from the Rychkov archive has been included in the corpus (30,061 tokens)
Some errors in glossing have been fixed
Glossing has been unified at some points (e.g. the analysis of finite past tense forms as finite verbs vs. participles: all such forms are now glossed as finite verbs)
Many glossing labels have been changed; in particular, most ambiguous grammatical glosses have been disambiguated by numbers and/or by semantic specifications: e.g. DIM for four affixes ⇒ DIM1, DIM2, DIM3, DIM4; NMLZ ⇒ NMLZ.TMP, NMLZ.PT, etc.
The structure of metadata has been slightly modified (e.g. fields for the source type and availability of audio files have been added)

The corpus has been produced in the context of the joint research funding of the German Federal Government and Federal States in the Academies’ Programme, with funding from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. Die schädlichen Folgen des von uns Menschen verursachten Klimawandels treffen immer mehr Menschen in allen Regionen der Erde. Insbesondere tragen hierzu die immer häufiger und intensiver auftretenden Extremwetterereignisse bei. Hitzewellen, Dürren und Starkregen mit Überflutungen
nehmen immer extremere Ausmaße an – wie kürzlich die Hitzewelle in Südasien, bei der in der indischen Hauptstadt Delhi 52,3°C gemessen wurden, Dürren in Teilen Südeuropas (2024) und großflächige Überflutungen in Brasilien (2024). Auch in Deutschland hat es in einigen Regionen in diesem Winter und Frühjahr schon Schlag auf Schlag Starkregenereignisse mit großflächigen Überflutungen gegeben, z.B. das Hochwasser
in Norddeutschland (Januar 2024), Überschwemmungen im Saarland und Rheinland-Pfalz (Mai 2024) sowie in Süddeutschland (Juni 2024). Auch wenn solche Ereignisse nicht direkt mit dem Klimawandel verknüpft werden können, sagt uns die Zuordnungswissenschaft, dass die meisten von ihnen in der vom Klimawandel betroffenen Welt deutlich wahrscheinlicher geworden sind
Wie realistisch ist das Pariser Temperaturziel?
How realistic is the Paris temperature goal? The interpretation of the Paris Climate Agreement has changed since it was adopted in 2015, as a result of political and scientific practice. The original two-part goal of holding global warming to well below 2°C and pursuing efforts to limit it to 1.5°C has transformed such that in public discourse the Paris temperature goal has de facto been equated with limiting global warming to 1.5°C. Latest research suggests that this limit can no longer be met. Global warming of 1.5°C is expected to be exceeded already in the 2030s. It is not realistic to expect that emissions will fall quickly enough thereafter and reach net negative levels so that global warming will again drop below 1.5°C during the 21st century. This creates a communication dilemma for the scientific community, because 1.5°C seems to be an immovable political goal, regardless of the scientifically established ability to achieve it. One way out of this dilemma could be to retain 1.5°C as an ideal goal, but to supplement it with the goal formulated in the Paris Agreement of achieving greenhouse-gas neutrality in the second half of the 21st century

Der vom Menschen verursachte Klimawandel hat bereits Auswirkungen auf viele extreme Wetter- und Klimaereignisse weltweit. Extreme Ereignisse können für jede Klimavariable auftreten, wie z.B. Temperatur, Niederschlag, Luftdruck oder Wind. Statistisch betrachtet sind Extreme seltene Ereignisse, die am Rand der Verteilung einer Klimavariablen auftreten. Eine Unterscheidung zwischen Wetter- und Klimaextremen kann aufgrund ihres zeitlichen Auftretens und ihrer räumlichen Ausprägung gemacht werden. Die Zeitskala von Wetterextremen reicht typischerweise von Minuten bis zu Tagen, wie z.B. ein Sturm oder ein schweres Niederschlagsereignis, während ein Klimaextrem üblicherweise eine Zeitskala von Monaten oder Jahren hat, wie z.B. eine langanhaltende Hitzewelle oder Dürre
