The pandemic has shifted museums to a new paradigm in which technology plays an increasingly important role in museum operations. More museums are investing in technology installations to give visitors a more distinctive and meaningful experience. Concerning technology, millennials (also called Generation Y) are an important market segment for museums. The increasing number of millennials visiting museums requires the related stakeholders to understand the millennial visitors' profile to serve them better. Hence, the purpose of this study is to assess the profile of Millennial visitors of the smart museum and investigate the role of technology in visitors’ satisfaction. This study employed five trained enumerators to approach the millennial visitors at the study location, the Borneo Culture Museum in Kuching, Sarawak.  The descriptive analysis was used to achieve the first objective followed by the simple linear regression for the second objective. The findings include demographic background, types of visits, source of information about the museum, travel companion, motivation to visit, time spent inside the exhibition galleries and the influence of technology on visitors’ satisfaction. The findings will be helpful as an addition to the existing knowledge of the museum research and can aid the future study in extending the study related to the millennial generation and the smart museum. &nbsp

An Overview of Financial Stress and Health Outcomes: The Moderating Role of Social Support

Investigating the population's health and well-being has been a topic of interest in recent years due to the remarkable growth.  The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) index indicates that Malaysian health and wellbeing issues remain significant challenges.  Taking into account the important aspects, a PwC Asia Pacific survey from 2023 revealed that individuals’ financial circumstances have been the primary cause of stress, which affects both their mental and physical health.  This is also confirmed by the Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) which reported that household members are currently experiencing financial stress with B40 income groups being particularly vulnerable to issues related to the increase in cost of living and loss of income. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to discuss the influence of financial stress on health-related outcomes and social support as the role that buffers the relationship. The role of social support, as suggested by previous research, as an element in reducing stress, may improve the emotional stability, mental and physical health of individuals. The present study offers valuable insights for employers and organizations to provide focused interventions in strengthening social support to improve employees’ health and well-being. &nbsp

Institutional Environment and the Quest for Stable Exchange Rate in Nigeria

This research empirically investigates the influence of Nigeria's institutional environment on exchange rate stability using annual data from 1981 to 2023. The study uses co-integration analysis to find a co-movement between exchange rate volatility and the institutional environment measures (measured by political risk and the unpredictability of revenue sources), with the expansion of the financial sector and adjustments to exchange rate policy serving as control variables. Political risk and the unpredictability of revenue sources have a positive and substantial short- and long-term impact on Nigeria's exchange rate volatility. The results suggest that exchange rate policy only has a negative and significant impact on exchange rate volatility over the long period, while financial sector expansion has a positive but insignificant influence in both periods. The causation test reveals a unidirectional correlation between the volatility of revenue sources and the volatility of currency rates, even though there is a bidirectional association between exchange rate volatility and both political risk and revenue source volatility. This suggests that the institutional environment is endogenous to the volatility of Nigeria's currency rate. The findings suggest that restructuring Nigeria's political system and diversifying its economy away from its reliance on oil could stabilize currency rate volatility and mitigate the effects of demand fluctuations and global oil price fluctuation

The increasing living costs have put a strain on people's ability to afford necessities like housing, transportation, education, and healthcare, which affects the quality of life in many countries. These factors have led to a rapidly growing trend of digital freelancing activities that utilize crowdsourcing technology to provide people with opportunities to earn additional income. However, a comprehensive understanding of the digital crowdsourcing landscape is hampered by the lack of studies examining it through a geographical lens, freelancer performance metrics, skillsets, and platform information. Therefore, this study addresses this issue by scraping data from various crowdsourcing platforms to analyze digital freelancing trends, particularly in Malaysia. Using descriptive analytics and visualization techniques, this study has revealed insights into the geographical distribution of Malaysian freelancers, freelancer skillsets in demand, platform preferences among freelancers, and factors influencing freelancer performance. The findings highlight the growing economic significance of digital freelancing and the role of crowdsourcing platforms in shaping the industry. Key information gaps were identified, including limited insights into freelancer demographics and performance metrics. These findings can empower individuals, inform stakeholders, and stimulate further research, ultimately contributing to the development of a more robust, inclusive, and thriving digital freelancing ecosystem in Malaysia

The Batik Tuah & Teja program is a creative effort that aims to engage university students in preserving Malaysia's intangible cultural heritage through batik-making while also developing entrepreneurial skills. The program combines traditional arts with business education to achieve the dual goals of cultural protection and youth empowerment. In conjunction with local artisans and industry experts, students were introduced to hands-on batik techniques like batik pelangi, as well as design and colouring workshops. An entrepreneurship module based on the Business Model Canvas (BMC) and mobile sales events provided practical experience with business development and marketing. This initiative aims to address the dual need for cultural preservation and youth empowerment by equipping students with knowledge of batik's historical significance and its potential in the modern entrepreneurial ecosystem. To analyze the program's impact, semi-structured interviews were performed with 40 participants' group leaders. The findings demonstrated that students had increased cultural awareness and respect for batik, as well as increased confidence in their business ability. The findings suggest that Batik Tuah & Teja effectively integrates cultural education with entrepreneurial development, offering a scalable model for youth-focused heritage preservation. Future implementations may benefit from expanded partnerships and the inclusion of digital tools to broaden impact. This study highlights the program's success in bridging tradition with innovation, supporting sustainable cultural engagement among the younger generation

Reforming Housing Policies in Malaysia: Insights from Singapore’s Success, the UK’s Challenges and Budget 2025 Initiatives

Housing policies are crucial in shaping accessibility, affordability, and social stability. This study critically examines housing policy frameworks in Malaysia, Singapore and the United Kingdom to identify actionable insights to enhance Malaysia’s housing landscape. The study draws on government reports, policy documents, and international academic literature using a qualitative research design based on secondary data. A comparative methodology highlights the successes of Singapore’s comprehensive policies, including affordability-driven strategies and ethnic integration, alongside the challenges faced by the UK’s fragmented and market-driven housing approach. Key findings reveal that Singapore’s policies, underpinned by centralized governance and proactive planning, have achieved high homeownership rates, inclusivity, and economic resilience. Conversely, the UK’s housing policies illustrate the detrimental effects of inadequate regulation, insufficient investment in social housing, and over-reliance on private markets, contributing to housing unaffordability and social disparities. Malaysia’s current housing policies, while showing promise through initiatives like subsidies and loan guarantees, remain constrained by issues such as affordability gaps, project delays, and market volatility. The study proposes policy recommendations for Malaysia, including expanding financial assistance programs, adopting a Build-Then-Sell system, aligning house prices with median income levels, and fostering social cohesion through community-centric policies. Furthermore, strengthening governance structures, enhancing land use strategies, and addressing market inefficiencies are emphasized to create a sustainable and inclusive housing framework. This research highlights the importance of adapting successful international models while avoiding their pitfalls, providing a roadmap for Malaysia’s housing policies to ensure affordability, equity, and resilience

Technology has undoubtedly enhanced the significance of convenience in learning, especially in tertiary educational institutions, as the dynamic integration between online and traditional learning is demonstrated. However, it is fair to debate whether this technology has also helped to enable the students to be more engaged in the classroom or whether the learning related factors are more prominent determinants. This descriptive research was a correlational study which was intended to examine relationship between elements of Community of Inquiry, comprised of teaching, learning and social presence and student engagement in UiTM Puncak Alam. The study has applied convenience sampling method, involving 378 respondents from 22,441 undergraduates of UiTM Puncak Alam. A self-administered questionnaire of three sections was used as instrument for this study to collect the students’ perspectives on how elements can influence their student engagement. A Pearson correlational and multiple regression analysis was conducted to ensure achievement of the research objectives. The results have found that social presence has the strongest relationship with student engagement, supporting a similar finding from the regression analysis. Regardless, it was also found that independent variables have explained 35.3% of the dependent variables, whereas the remaining 64.7% of student engagement can be explained by other variables that are not included in this study. Therefore, all three research objectives were achieved, and three hypotheses were supported. The researchers have then discussed and recommended further actions that can be taken by the authorities involved in ensuring that a quality education is accessible to all students in Malaysia
