HOW BIG DATA WILL BE AN ADDED VALUE TO SCM?
It is the era of digital information technology where almost everything is going smart. Thus, organizations move towards digitalization that cause the emergent of Big Data. Analyzing big data is the big challenge today. Being smart puts the world under a big challenge to adapt, change, and upgrade systems to analyze the Big Data using the high technology. Challenges are growing with the market and appears in different forms. Many of these challenges can be hard or difficult to handle on your own if you are a small to medium size business without the help of supply chain management system. The main objective of this paper is to contribute and examine these research questions: What are the Big Data Analytical tools used in SCM? In addition to the Impact of Analyzing Big Data on Supply Chain Management? The methodology used was a systematic review over the existing literature including Big Data, supply chain, SCM, and the impact of BD analytical tools on SCM. Data collected and unsystematically interpreted and the findings summarized in a subjective way that describes and discusses the literature from a contextual or theoretical point of view. Big data can tremendously affect the supply chain units and can add values to the overall supply chain operations by improving the processes to be more effective and efficient based on the analysis results. Big data analytics become a core differentiation factor for any organization that acquire it in the last few years
CONCRETE MIX DESIGN USING ABRAMS AND BOLOMEY METHODS
This research studied concrete design methods. To design concrete using two methods, including the Abrams law and the modified Bolomey method. Concrete with assumed compressive strength 25, 30, 35, 40, and 45 MPa was researched. The research was conducted in the laboratory using two types of samples: cubic 15x15x15cm for compressive strength tests and cylinders ϕ-15cm, h-30cm for the splitting strength tests using the Brazilian method.
The analysis of the cement content in the composition of 1m3 of the mixture showed very large differences depending on the calculation method used. The cement content calculated according to the Abrams method ranged from 180 kg/m3 (25MPa) to 497 kg/m3 (45MPa) depending on the class and determined according to the Bolomey method from 286 kg/m3 (25MPa) to 983 kg/m3 (45MPa). Significant differences were shown in the concrete strength test.
The obtained test results can be the basis for future modifications of the concrete design methods, taking into account additives and admixtures, and can be the basis for the application of artificial neural networks (ANN) to design the composition of concrete
TAM EXTENSION IN E-LEARNING SYSTEM APPLICABLE IN PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES IN LEBANON
The paper’s purpose is to investigate the influence of selected elements (Accessibility, personal innovativeness (PI), resistance to change, facilitating conditions, perceived usefulness (PU), perceived ease of use (PEOU), attitude) on university students’ to intend e-learning usage. The objective of this paper is to advance a conceptual framework to analyze and to recognize the intention of students to use e-learning in Lebanese private universities. The collection of the data was from 444 private universities students in Lebanon. The SEM analysis had been used to evaluate the influence of these components to intend e-learning system. The results stated that relationships between accessibility on perceived usefulness are not accepted. Furthermore, the associations between (PI) and PEOU are also not accepted. However, all other relationships are accepted in the framework model. Finally, results discussed then conclusions and future research are presente
EXAMINING BANKS’ FAILURE IN THE MENA REGION
This paper investigates whether or not banks in the MENA region are susceptible to failures. Two z score models are investigated in predicting the health of ninety banks across ten countries. Using discriminant and regression analysis, one can determine which ratios are statistically significant in predicting the health of the selected banks and which zone they belong to safe, grey, or distressed zone. The study spans the years 2006 to 2016. The goal of this study is to compare two z scores to assess if banks within MENA are subject to failure. According to the findings of this study, the Z score developed by El Ansary may be a better way for emerging economies to measure the indicators that rigger banks\u27 risk level
SMART CONTRACTS AND LEGAL ACTS -THE EVOLUTION OF THE THEORY OF CONTRACTS
In this research, we discuss the smart contracts, legal acts, Block Chain rules and their scope, the legal problems that they arise, and how the theory of contracts has been developed accordingly. At the current time, the smart contracts, specially those relating to Block chain rules and cryptocurrency trading, are creating a radical transformation where the conventional language has fallen back and a new and unique phenomenon, known as the language of codes, has emerged. Thus, the digital relationships performed within smart contracts raise several questions. Hence, the question arises here: to what extent these contracts need a specific legislation to address all the problems that they pose
THE OBJECTION BY INVALIDITY BY SYRIAN CIVIL PROCEDURES LAW
The problem that the subject of the research centers arounf is that the Syrian legislator did not specify clearly and explicitly what are the cases in which the objection of invalidity relates to private interests? Therefore, we divided this study in two main requirement: the first requirement : The objection of invalidity which is related to public order. The second requirement: the objection of invalidity which .is not related to public order The reason why the Syrian legislator did not specify the cases in which the objection of invalidity is related to public order or not, is that there is no fixed rule that absolutely defines public order, consistent with every time and place, because public order is also a relative thing, and its idea is very flexible, and it is difficult to agree on an acceptable formula. It has all aspects, except when the legislator decides by the text of the law that the judge must rule the invalidity of his own this happen
EXPLORING THE ATTRIBUTES OF OPEN PUBLIC SPACES IN THE DEVELOPING CITIES
Open Public Spaces, according to Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE), are vital elements of urban fabrics that animate communities in cities. These significant spaces not only provide the residents with different facilities, but also promote social, economic, environmental and health opportunities. Successful open public spaces meet the needs of people of various social classes, ethnicities, and different backgrounds in general. Despite its importance within the city, the lack of appropriate design and planning strategies in developing cities have resulted in a degradation of the urban environment and subsequently the quality of urban life. The problem needs to be addressed with sensitivity to space as well as the people- its main users. The research, therefore, aims to explore the attributes of successful open public spaces that contributes to enhance the quality of public life from users’ perspective. The research focuses on one case study: Horsh Al-Sanawbar, Beirut, Lebanon, which is perceived as the largest green public space in the heart of Beirut, where it plays a significant role in enhancing the public quality within the city. The paper argues that open public space dimensions consist of several attributes that makes an open public space successful, where these spaces can act as catalysts for enhancing the quality of life within the developing city. To prove this hypothesis, the paper adopts a qualitative approach, first, through desk research for defining the main keyword, and examining data from previous works and articles on the same topic wrote by various architects, urban planners, and theorists. Second a field methodology will be supported by questionnaire survey, walking interviews, and onsite observations regarding the four key attributes of successful open public spaces that are: physical, social, functional, and perceptual attributes. The author finally suggests a series of dimensions found in the design and development of open public spaces, that will contribute to create a design guideline for using the attributes in achieving better open public spaces
RESILIENCE THROUGH READING AND WRITING IN LAMBEAUX BY CHARLES JULIET
Lambeaux writen by Charles Juliet is the result of a trauma in his early infancy. A month after his birth, he is separated from his mother interned in a psychiatric hospital after a suicide tentative. His biological father entrusts him to a family who will love him and raise him like their own. When he becomes an adult he decides to write his biological mother’s biography with his imagination because he had not enough information about her life and his autobiography bind to his adoptive mother. Writing becomes his resilience. Two people help him to achieve his goal: his adoptive mother and his French teacher who become resilience tutors. To improve his writing, the author reads French writers looking for words he can use in his own work. Lambeaux is finally the re-creation of the biological mother and her son as a writer
FACTORS ASSOCIATED WITH SLEEP QUALITY AND DURATION AMONG BEIRUT ARAB UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
Sleep is part of the everyday physiological rhythm that is vital for enhancing wellness and appropriate body functions. University students are vulnerable to sleep disturbance due to many factors that affect their sleep–wake behavior. No study has so far evaluated the association between sleep quality and duration and the health and nutritional status of Lebanese college students. Thus, the present study was designed to evaluate the sleep quality and duration of Beirut Arab University (BAU) students in North Lebanon and to examine associations with their nutritional status, sociodemographic, eating behaviors, lifestyles and health characteristics. To do so, a cross-sectional study was conducted among a sample of 288 students (168 males and 120 females) aged between 17 and 25 years who were registered in the Fall of 2018–2019 in Tripoli Campus, and randomly selected from the different faculties. Students completed a multi-component questionnaire. According to this study, more than half of BAU students had poor sleep quality (64.2%) and short sleep duration (71.5%). The multiple regression analysis revealed that employed students were 82% less likely to have poor sleep quality (ORadj: 0.181; 95% CI: 0.062–0.528) (
PALLADIUM (II)-CATALYZED SELECTIVE REDUCTION OF 4’-(PHENYLETHYNL)ACETOPHENONE IN THE PRESENCE OF A FORMIC ACID-TRIETHYLAMINE MIXTURE
An efficient and straightforward palladium acetylacetonate-catalyzed hydrogen transfer of 4\u27- (phenylethynyl)acetophenone was developed in this study. Formic Acid was found to be the best hydrogen source in this catalytic system in the presence of triethylamine. Excellent conversions and selectivity were obtained in reducing the starting internal aromatic alkyne to either (E)-1-(4- styrylphenyl)ethanone or an interesting cyclic product, 1-(phenanthrene-3-yl)ethenone, over the ketone functional group present. Over-reduction was rarely seen. The reaction conditions were optimized in terms of the choice of the palladium catalyst, temperature, solvent, and the H-donor/base combination. Using this catalytic system, a one-step synthetic pathway of the hindered cyclic ketone was afforded in excellent yields
