La Roma antigua en el cine
Get PDFCinema has played a fundamental role in society for more than a century, and currently this role has increased through the use of new technologies, television and video games. History has always been an object of interest for film buffs and producers, who see it as a different way of telling the past but through their own ideals of the moment, with the aim of entertaining. For some historians, the scientific and historical accuracy offered by these films is little or non-existent, but what is important in them is the role of history and its transmission through film. If it had not been for these films from the middle of the last century, what concept or history of antiquity would most people of those generations have learned? This paper briefly analyses the films and series that are best known to society, have the greatest impact, and, above all, whose transmission and repercussions help to keep classical antiquity alive in the minds of past, present and future generations.El cine juega un papel fundamental en la sociedad desde hace más de un siglo y, actualmente, ese papel se ha visto incrementado mediante el uso de las nuevas tecnologías, la televisión y los videojuegos. La historia siempre ha sido objeto de interés para los cinéfilos y productores, viendo en ella un modo diferente de contar el pasado, pero a través de sus propios ideales del momento, con la finalidad de entretener. Para algunos historiadores, el rigor científico e histórico que ofrecen estas películas es escaso o nulo, pero lo importante en ellas, es el papel de la historia y su transmisión a través del cine. Si no hubiese sido por dichas películas de mediados del siglo pasado, ¿qué concepto o historia de la Antigüedad hubiesen aprendido la mayoría de las gentes de aquellas generaciones? Este trabajo analiza brevemente las películas y series más conocidas por la sociedad, con mayor impacto, y, sobre todo, cuya transmisión y repercusión ayuda a mantener con vida la Antigüedad Clásica en el pensamiento de las generaciones pasadas, actuales y futuras
La necrópolis romana bajoimperial del yacimiento de La Magdalena (Alcalá de Henares, Madrid))
Get PDFThe Late Roman Empire phase of La Magdalena archaeological site (Alcalá de Henares) is defined by a necropolis that started around the second third of the III century and would end towards the first half of the V century. The site is located near the Camino de los Afligidos, marking the position of what could be the ancient roman road that would connect Emerite Augusta with Caesar Augusta, with Complutum existing halfway between those cities, serving as a crossroads with other roads, like the one passing through Segobriga and reaching Carthago Nova. This necropolis has 156 graves in which 164 individuals were buried, a complex system of hydraulic structures that encircle the sacred space, as well as numerous minor structures linked to various offerings and ritualistic behaviour.La fase romana bajoimperial del yacimiento de La Magdalena (Alcalá de Henares) queda determinada por una necrópolis que tendría sus inicios en el segundo tercio del s. III y que se extendería hasta la primera mitad del s. V. Se localiza próxima al Camino de los Afligidos, fosilizando lo que probablemente sería la antigua vía romana que uniría Emerita Augusta con Caesar Augusta, de la que Complutum sería un punto intermedio y que, a su vez, conectaría con otras vías como la que discurriendo por Segobriga llega hasta Carthago Nova. Cuenta con 156 tumbas donde fueron inhumados hasta 164 individuos, un conjunto de estructuras hidráulicas que periféricamente delimitarían el espacio sagrado, así como un alto número de estructuras menores que se vincularían con actividades características del ritual funerario

No full textIn 1930, Luis Buñuel made Menjant garotes, a small documentary film of just over four minutes, in which he films some scenes from the daily life of Salvador Dalí Cusí and his wife Catalina Domènech. The film was filmed during the filming of some scenes from The Golden Age in Cadaqués. Everything seems to indicate that its production was motivated by the need to ingratiate himself with the powerful notary who, very angry about the family scandal caused by his son, could cause problems or setbacks in the filming of the feature film. Buñuel will not only “thank” the notary for allowing him to film the film in Cadaqués without any setbacks, it will also be the pretext to end the stage of collaboration with his friend and, in addition, it will serve to settle accounts with the bourgeoisie who The notary represents so well. To do this, Buñuel will use allusions to An Andalusian Dog, Nosferatu or The Phantom of Liberty which, being much later in time than the Dalí film, ended up, by the whim of history, becoming a “precedent” of the same. Todo parece indicar que su realización estuvo motivada por la necesidad de congraciarse con el poderoso notario que, muy enfadado por el escándalo familiar suscitado por su hijo, podía llegar a generar problemas o contratiempos en el rodaje del largometraje. Buñuel no solo va a “agradecer” al señor notario que le permita filmar en Cadaqués sin contratiempos la película, también será el pretexto para dar por finalizada la etapa de colaboración con su amigo y, además, le servirá para cuadrar cuentas con la burguesía que tan bien representa el notario. Para ello, Buñuel se valdrá de alusiones a Un perro andaluz, Nosferatu o El fantasma de la libertad que, siendo muy posterior en el tiempo a la película de los Dalí, acabó, por capricho de la historia, convertida en un “antecedente” de la misma. Años después, tras su regreso a Europa, Buñuel vuelve a recuperar su pelicula familiar en Así es la aurora pero, después de Auschwitz, las cosas habían cambiado mucho

Get PDFThis article delves into the ongoing debate on the interconnections between housing design and habitat, highlighting how moments of crises drive innovation, often showcased in housing exhibitions. The article proposes three key design approaches for participatory housing design: Incrementality (accommodating growth and change), Typology Mix (accommodating diverse patterns of inhabitation), and Clustering (creating meaningful communities). These design approaches acknowledge housing as a dynamic process and emphasize the importance of giving priority to human agency and inclusiveness, overturning the commodification of human habitats. The article highlights the significance of transdisciplinary collaboration in housing design decision-making, acknowledging the importance of an array of factors that are vital to promote resilient and inclusive urban communities. The article concludes by advocating for architectural education and research to focus on temporality as a crucial dimension in housing design, essential for tackling evolving challenges and shaping sustainable urban futures.Este artículo profundiza en el debate actual sobre las interconexiones entre el proyecto de vivienda y el hábitat, destacando cómo los momentos de crisis impulsan la innovación, a menudo mostrada en exposiciones de vivienda. El artículo propone tres enfoques clave para el proyecto participativo de vivienda: Incrementalidad (con la adaptación al crecimiento y el cambio), Diversidad Tipológica (con la adaptación a diversos patrones de habitabilidad) y Agrupación (con el sentido de pertenencia a la comunidad). Estos enfoques de proyecto reconocen la vivienda como un proceso dinámico y enfatizan la importancia de dar prioridad a la acción humana y la inclusión, evitando la mercantilización de los hábitats humanos. El artículo destaca la importancia de la colaboración transdisciplinar en la toma de decisiones sobre el proyecto de vivienda, reconociendo la importancia de una variedad de factores vitales para promover comunidades urbanas resilientes e inclusivas. No full textThe Calima culture is an archaeologically well known pre-Hispanic society of Colombia, but it lacks studies on the layout of its settlements under the approach of territorial organization. This work proposes a methodology based on three development tools: the theory of sociocultural evolution, iconography and ethnohistory. The cultural context is analyzed on the basis of its geographical location, considering environmental aspects, as well as its chronological development and certain relevant sociocultural characteristics. The territory, as a space transformed by human activity, has its own connotations in pre-Hispanic societies that adapted to their living conditions while adapting to it. In these cultures, the absence of physical vestiges of urban structures is shown as a basic problem in their research. It is in this context where the results of the research on the settlement patterns of the Yotoco and Sonso cultures in the Calima region presented in this paper are inserted.La cultura Calima es una sociedad prehispánica de Colombia arqueológicamente bien conocida, pero que carece de estudios en torno a la disposición de sus poblados bajo el enfoque de la organización del territorio. En este trabajo se plantea una metodología basada en tres instrumentos de desarrollo: la teoría de la evolución sociocultural, la iconografía y la etnohistoria. El contexto cultural se analiza a partir de su localización geográfica, considerando aspectos medioambientales, así como su desarrollo cronológico y ciertas características socioculturales de relevancia. El territorio, como espacio transformado por la actividad humana, tiene sus propias connotaciones en las sociedades prehispánicas que lo acomodaron a sus condiciones de vida al tiempo que se adaptaban al mismo. En estas culturas, la ausencia de vestigios físicos de las estructuras urbanas se muestra como un problema básico en su investigación. Es en este contexto donde se insertan los resultados de la investigación sobre los patrones de asentamiento de las culturas Yotoco y Sonso en la región Calima que se presentan en este trabajo

No full textThe objective of the VOLTURMAC project (MAC2/4.6c/298), funded by the INTERREG VA Spain-Portugal MAC 2014-2020 Territorial Cooperation Program, is to contribute to the strengthening of the conservation, protection, promotion and development of natural and cultural heritage associated with the volcanic phenomenon in Macaronesia through tourism volcano and contribute to the diversification of the tourist offer of the four Macaronesian archipelagos (Azores, Madeira, Canary and Cape Verde). To achieve the main objective of this project, nine different activities are proposed and grouped around three main axes: (1) analyze, evaluate and identify the potential of volcano-tourism in Macaronesia; (2) create geo-itineraries and touristic geo-routes that value the natural and cultural resources of the volcanic landscapes of Macaronesia by identifying, selecting, mapping and evaluating geosites, geomorphosites and sites of geotourist interest (SGIs) and (3) promoting and strengthening training on natural and cultural resources linked to the volcanic phenomenon in the tourism.El proyecto Volturmac (MAC/4.6c/298) fue financiado por el programa de Cooperación Territorial MAC 2014-2020 de INTERREG VA. La entidad que lideró el proyecto fue el Instituto Volcanológico de Canarias y participaron nueves socios. El objetivo general era contribuir a la conservación, protección, promoción y desarrollo del patrimonio natural y cultural asociado el fenómeno volcánico de la región Macaronésica a través del turismo volcánico y diversificar la oferta turística de Azores, Madeira, Canarias y Cabo Verde. Para conseguir el objetivo general se propusieron tres objetivos específicos y nueve actividades. 1-Analizar, evaluar e identificar el potencial del turismo volcánico en la Macaronesia. 2-Crear itinerarios geoturísticos a partir de identificar, seleccionar, cartografiar y evaluar geositios, geomorfositios y lugares de interés geoturístico y 3-promover programas formativos sobre turismo volcánico a los diferentes actores implicados en el turismo
Abriendo calles entre urbanizaciones cerradas. Simulación de una malla viaria intermedia para el territorio periurbano de Mendoza, Argentina
Get PDFGated communities are now one of the common forms in the expansion of Latin American cities. In Greater Mendoza area (Argentina), there are about 384. Their size and aggregation are causing the saturation of part of the peri-urban territory, thus fostering a landscape marked by large enclosures with specific accesses and a road structure with large block sizes and roads. This work considers that this is pathological for the future of peri-urban fabrics. A careful reading of their size and relative position demonstrates the dominance of laissez-faire, since the current regulations excessively allow possible locations. However, the study focuses on the absence of active thinking about the streets that structure the territory. As if it were an urban laboratory, a possible proposal for a new grid of intermediate streets is presented, which meets two purposes: (1) ensuring the urban quality of territories in extension through gated communities and (2) enhancing the existing grid. The work uses network analysis to evaluate the achievement of these two objectives, observing the proposal\u27s capacity to multiply intermediate streets, to expand pre-existing local centralities, to promote the proliferation of new intersections, and to obtain a fine-grained block structure that safeguards peri-urban quality.Las urbanizaciones cerradas son hoy una de las formas habituales en la extensión de las ciudades latinoamericanas. En el Gran Mendoza (Argentina) existen unas 384. Su medida y agregación está produciendo la saturación de parte del territorio periurbano, propiciando así un paisaje marcado por grandes recintos con accesos puntuales y una estructura viaria con manzaneros de grandes dimensiones y calles-carretera. Este trabajo considera que ello resulta patológico para el futuro de los tejidos periurbanos. La lectura atenta sobre su dimensión y posición relativa demuestra el imperio del laissez faire puesto que la normativa vigente permite las localizaciones posibles desmesuradamente. Sin embargo, el estudio concentra el interés sobre la ausencia de un pensamiento activo sobre las calles que estructuran el territorio. Como si de un laboratorio urbano se tratara, se expone una propuesta posible de nueva malla de calles de rango intermedio que reúne dos propósitos: (1) asegurar la calidad urbana de los territorios en extensión mediante urbanizaciones cerradas y (2) poner en valor la retícula existente. El trabajo utiliza el análisis de redes para evaluar la consecución de estos dos objetivos, observando la capacidad de la propuesta para multiplicar las calles intermedias, para ampliar las centralidades locales preexistentes, para favorecer la proliferación de nuevos cruces y para obtener un manzanero de grano menudo que salvaguarde la calidad periurbana
