    No full text
In the study, rectal swabs taken from 300 ruminant animals including cattle (100), sheep (100), and goats (100) were inoculated into Mac Conkey Agar and incubated for 18 h at 37degree celsius. Escherichia coli isolates were confirmed by biochemical tests and the BBL Crystal rapid diagnosis system. O26, O45, O103, O111, O121, O145, and O157 serotypes by PCR test following DNA isolation; ETEC (elt, Stla); EPEC (eaeA,bfpA); STEC (stx1, stx2, eaeA); EHEC (EhlyA); EAEC (CVD432) tested for virulence and/or toxigenic genes. As a result of the isolation studies, 50 E. coli from cattle feces, 92 from sheep feces, and 80 from goat feces were isolated and identified. Apart from the first 5 serotypes frequently seen in studies (O157, O26, O103, O111, and O145), higher rates were found in serogroups such as O45 and O121, and subtypes such as STECs (stx1 and stx2), EPEC (eaeA and bfpA) and EAEC (CVD432) types compared to other studies. The EAEC (CVD432) subtype was found to be very high in this study. It has been determined that serotypes and subtypes detected at high rates in cattle, sheep, and goat feces in our region may cause an increase in the incidence of some critical food-borne infections in humans. Within the framework of the concept of one health, taking the necessary precautions is important for public health

The aim of this paper is to define a new class of surfaces in Euclidean space using the concept of osculating circle. Given a regular curve C, the surface of osculating circles generated by C is the set of all osculating circles at all points of C. It is proved that these surfaces contain a one-parametric family of planar lines of curvature. A classification of surfaces of osculating circles is given in the family of canal surfaces, Weingarten surfaces, surfaces with constant Gauss curvature and surfaces with constant mean curvature.Projects I+D+i [PID2020-117868GB-I00, A-FQM-139-UGR18, P18-FR-4049]The authors thank to the referees for their comments and suggestions, which have notably improved the presentation of this paper. Serum creatinine was higher in the COPDstable group (p=0.043), while serum c-reactive protein (CRP) values were higher in the COPDattack group than in the others (p<0.001). Arterial blood gas parameters taken in room air were similar between the groups. FEV1 (lt and %), FVC (lt), % FEV1/FVC were similar in the COPDattack and stable groups and statistically significantly lower than the control group (all p<0.001). FEF25-75 (lt) was as COPDstable < COPDattack < Control, respectively (p<0.001). There was no statistically significant difference between the respiratory test parameters in the pairwise comparison between the COPDattack and COPDstable groups. In subgroup analysis, gender, residence, education level and smoking did not affect the microplastic level in sputum, while it was found to be higher in those receiving LTOT and those exposed to biyoyakıt (p=0.006 and p=0.021). The highest microplastic level in sputum was detected in COPDattack (1.53±0.63 units/ml) < COPDstable (0.60±0.47 units/ml) < control group (0.36±024 units/ml) (p=<0.001). Microplastic level in COPD patients in the attack period was higher than COPDstable patients and the control group (p=<0.001). Microplastic levels were higher in COPDstable patients compared to the control group (p=0.036). Risk factors for COPD exacerbation were examined by multiple regression analysis. Considering age, gender, and smoking, sputum microplastic level, blood neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio, and blood eosinophil elevation were found to be significant risk factors for COPD exacerbation. Discussion: This study showed the presence of microplastics in sputum samples of COPD patients and healthy controls. The most important finding we obtained within the scope of the study was that microplastic levels were clearly higher in COPDattack patients than COPDstable and control group. Microplastic exposure may be a new risk factor for COPD disease and COPD exacerbations. In order to understand the risk further studies are needed. Dependencies of Parameter and Load Toque Sensitivities of Electric Motor Outputs on Design Requirements

    No full text
Sensitivity analysis is useful for parameter estimation and decision-making processes. It guides researchers in which input is more effective for controlling an output and which output provides more information to estimate a system parameter. This study is concerned with the sensitivities of the measurable states of electric motors to the model parameters and load torque. Its contribution is investigating the sensitivities’ dependencies on design requirements. It has been revealed that some design requirements such as rated voltage, power, and speed have no effect on most sensitivities to the motor parameters. A similar study on transformers is also included with similar results. The results evoke some optimization choices about adjusting the sensitivities since the search space dimension is reduced. They also yield some educational benefits. Since such a theoretical study requires precise measurements or disturbance-free information, experimental work could not be very useful. Therefore, either mathematical model analysis or simulations have been used to calculate the sensitivities. For the same reason, design requirements are considered from the algorithms determining the model parameters of electric machinery according to desired operating conditions for simulation purposes. Dependencies have been found analytically for dc motors but numerically for ac motors, and transformers.Sensitivity analysis is useful for parameter estimation and decision-making processes. In this study, the recording techniques for string instruments such as violin, viola, and cello in a group setting have been examined. The introduction section discusses the impact of developing technology on music production and the art of music. Following this, the history of sound recording is explored, with a focus on the techniques used in the 19th century. The study emphasizes how this journey has evolved up to the present day. In the findings section, live observations were made of group string instrument recordings conducted in three different studios. In the first studio, there are five violinists, while the second and third studios each have four violinists. Each of the three studios also includes one violist and one cellist. It was observed that different recording techniques and microphone placements were employed in each of the three studios. The precautions that should be taken when using both close and distant miking techniques simultaneously are discussed. The impact of XY miking techniques on group string instrument recordings is highlighted. Techniques used in recordings conducted in different rooms are also examined. As a result, it was found that the number of group members and the number of microphones used influenced the recording techniques. Large-diaphragm condenser microphones were preferred. It is noted that the stereo positioning that will be applied during the mixing stage actually begins during the recording process. Additionally, it is stated that time-based processors (reverb and delay), which are preferred during the mixing stage, are also used during recording, whereas dynamic and frequency-based processors should not be used during the recording phase. © 2024, Tolga Karaca. Anahtar Kelimeler: Kedi, Diş hastalıkları, RadyolojiDental diseases in cats are encountered frequently. Some of the most common diseases include tooth resorption, periodontal disease, broken tooth, missing tooth and persistent primary teeth. In diagnosis of dental diseases a detailed clinical and radiological examination is crucial. For the submitted study, 50 cats that were brought with various complaints to Kırıkkale University Veterinary Faculty Animal Hospital Clinic of the Department of Surgery were included regardless of the breed, age, or gender. In order to collect and process the data, a dental examination form was created. As a result of the clinical and radiological examination, diseases were detected in 44 out of 50 cats and on a total of 125 teeth. 31 cases were detected in canine teeth, 22 cases in incisive teeth, 50 cases in premolardis teeth and 22 cases in molar teeth. In canine teeth, the most common cases were persistent primary teeth: Whereas in incisive, premolar and molar teeth, it was the lost teeth. While the most common condition was periodontal disease with 16 cases, it was determined to be followed by tooth resorption with 14 cases. While at least one disease was detected in 88% of the cats included in the study, it was observed that none of the animal owners applied any dental care to their pets at home and almost had no knowledge on the matter. If a cat's oral and dental health is not in good shape, it causes severe pain and significantly reduces their quality of life

Comprehensive analysis of a CI engine fuelled with blends of diesel fuel/ safflower seed oil biodiesel/ TiO2 or SiO2 nanoparticles produced by green synthesis technique

    No full text
It can be confidently stated that there is limited research on the usability of nanoparticles as alternative fuel additives for diesel fuel (DF), particularly those produced from organic substances through the green synthesis method. On this basis, the present research focused on the usability of the fuels formed by adding metal-based titanium dioxide (TiO2) and silicon dioxide (SiO2) nanoparticles produced through green synthesis technique at different ratios to safflower oil biodiesel and commercial DF blends considering the thermodynamic, economic, and environmental analyses. In this sense, performance and emission tests were carried out in a single-cylinder diesel engine at four ranging loads (25 %, 50 %, 75 %, and 100 %) at a fixed speed of 1500 rpm. To conclude, the exergy efficiency enhanced as the load increased. Actually, for B10Si50 blend at 25 %, 50 %, 75 %, and 100 % loads, the exergy efficiency was calculated to be 16.46 %, 19.48 %, 21.08 %, and 21.95 %, respectively. As the amount of biodiesel infused to DF increased, the cost of losses went up gradually. In this context, the cost of losses for DF was calculated as 2.099 USD/h at the maximum engine load, meanwhile the cost of losses for B10 and B20 was figured out to be 2.326 USD/h and 2.487 USD/h, respectively. At the peak load, the ratio of the power taken from the engine shaft to the cost achieved for DF was 129.76 USD/GJ, while it was found to be 151.55 USD/GJ for B20. In addition, it was determined as 191.21 USD/GJ for B20Si250 fuel and 197.97 USD/GJ for B20Ti250. As stated in the exergoenviroeconomic analysis findings, the cost of monthly CO2 emissions ascended as the amount of nanoparticles augmented regardless of the type of fuel blends. At 75 % engine load, the cost of CO2 emissions for B20Si50 fuel was notified as 43.89 USD/month whereas it was found to be 47.74 USD/month for B20Si250.Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkiye (TUBITAK) [122M850]The present study received support from projects numbered 122M850, funded by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkiye (TUBITAK)

The Effect of Combining Blood Flow Restriction with the Nordic Hamstring Exercise on Hamstring Strength: Randomized Controlled Trial

    No full text
    (1) Background: It is a matter of curiosity what effect the blood flow restriction (BFR) method, which is usually combined with low-intensity resistance exercises, will have when used with high-intensity eccentric exercises. (2) Methods: The present study examined the effects of combining BFR with nordic hamstring exercises (NHEs) on hamstring muscle strength, bilateral deficit (BLD), and training volume. Thirty young female volleyball players, who trained three times a week, participated voluntarily in the study. These players were stratified into three groups, each comprising ten individuals: a control group (CG), an NHE group, and an NHE + BFR group. Hamstring muscle strength and BLD values were determined using an H-BORD device, while training volume was measured in terms of sets and repetitions. (3) Results: Statistical analysis revealed that there were no statistically significant differences in non-dominant and dominant leg peak torque parameters in the exercise groups (F = 2.65; p = 0.097; eta p2 = 0.17; F = 1.15; p = 0.0334; eta p2 = 0.084), while the total training volume was lower in the NHE + BFR group. (4) Conclusions: As a result, it was seen that adding the BFR method to NHE did not provide additional gains. However, due to the low training volume of BFR + NHE, it may be recommended to apply BFR together with NHE to athlete groups.Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia [PNURSP2024R 286]We would like to sincerely express our appreciation to Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University Researchers Supporting Project number (PNURSP2024R 286), Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for supporting this project.
