Šabac exhibition: the suffering of the Jews and the "Blood March"
Stevan Marinković is the author of two exhibitions that were presented in September 2021 at Šabac Victims' Square. Of the 20 chronologically arranged panels, 12 are dedicated to the "Bloody March", one is transitional and seven panels show the suffering of Jews in Šabac. In the presentation for Zoom Shabbat, the author introduces us and shows through two bloody events from the Second World War. One exhibition is "Bloody March 1941-2021" which talks about the suffering of the people of Šabac that began on September 24, when the German punitive expedition picked them up and banished them from the city into uncertainty. 4,410 people had to cross the 23-kilometre-long road, from Šabac to the improvised camp in the village of Jarak, in 4 hours. With the unprecedented violence of the Germans and Ustasha, 120 people died - 96 Serbs and 24 Jews. The presentation also showed 33 pictures of murdered Serbs and Jews. The second exhibition tells about the event that happened on October 12 and 13 - the shooting of Jewish men from Šabac, refugees from the Kladovo-Šabac transport. That part of the exhibition shows Jews from Central Europe, Vienna, Berlin, Gdańsk and Bratislava who, fleeing Nazi persecution, came to Yugoslavia by ships and were stopped because they did not have permits to cross through Romania. They stayed in Kladovo, and from there they were transferred to Šabac, then to a camp that was also the first Jewish camp in Serbia. Their suffering and exhumation in the village of Zasavica are shown.Predavanje održano 8. oktobra 2021. godine preko Zoom platforme (Zoom Šabat) sa početkom u 19.30 časova. The lecture was held on October 8, 2021, via the Zoom platform (Zoom Shabbat) starting at 7:30 p.mTrajanje 51:09 minuta (duration 51:09 minutes).Izložbeni panoi mogu se videti preko linka (the exhibition panels can be seen via the link): [http://www.makabijada.com/sabat/sabac/panoi.htm]
Holokaust, evropske vrednosti i lokalna istorija: lokalni arhivi u evropskom i kulturnom mozaiku
Responding to the new needs, archives are adapting to provide services to the local and global communities. A massive modernization is happening in the area of archival pedagogy. Still, archival pedagogy has not yet been systematically organized. As a result, most of the smaller historical archives
in Central Europe and the Balkans still do not have specific educational outreach strategies or
departments specialized in archival pedagogy. In parallel, the European evolving cultural heritage infrastructure of digital humanities is rapidly creating new spaces and opportunities for exchange and presentation of the rich and multilayered European culture and heritage. In this process of shaping new European identity and narratives, there is a growing interest in the interaction between micro and macro levels of history and culture. (The project is part of the official program of the "Novi Sad European Capital of Culture 2021"). Videti (see):

Shirey Zelda
Zelda Schneurson (1914-1984) was a religious poet who united several worlds in her personality and poetry. She was born in 1914 in Ukraine in a Hasidic family, followers of Chabad, one of the most famous ultra-orthodox movements in the world. Her writing, language and lyrics were influenced by Jewish mysticism. As an ultra-orthodox Jew, she kept to her traditions. Nevertheless, she wrote modern poetry, poetry almost without rhyme or heaviness. Her poems became part of early Israeli poetry in the first decades after the establishment of the State of Israel. The young Israeli society, which at that time moved away from religious tradition, found in her songs the ancient Jewish world, which awakened a deep longing in their hearts. Zelda truly believed that poetry had a duty to fulfil the role of Hasidic story, Jewish fable and melody. For her, these were ways of connecting man with his God. Zelda immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1926 and blended into the young Jewish community. She worked as a teacher in Jerusalem, and one of her students was the late Amos Oz, who became a famous writer.Biblioteka Gea (Stajer graf)
Camp at Sajmište: testimonies of two prisoners
In the Zemun concentration camp, two periods should be distinguished. In the first period, it was the Jewish camp Zemun (Judenlager Semlin) and was the place of suffering for members of the Jewish community, in the second it was primarily a place of execution for Serbian people both from Serbia and from the territory of the Independent State of Croatia and it was renamed to Zemun concentration camp (Anhaltelager Semlin). In the Historical Archive of Belgrade, material relevant to research on that camp is stored in several funds. Unfortunately, a significant part of that material has not been used to a sufficient extent. That fact pushed us to create a small project of publishing the testimonies of former detainees. We were not in a dilemma when it came to the number of testimonies, the bigger problem was the selection of available and preserved materials created among the members of the side that was defeated in the (Serbian) civil war. Namely, it is known that during the second period of the existence of the camp at Sajmište, supporters and members of the National Liberation and Ravnogorsk movements, as well as Milan Nedić's unit, were detained. It is not known, however, whose supporters there were more, although it can be assumed that members of the communist-partisan movement made up the larger population of detainees, so this publication is the result of cooperation of mutual and general benefit. After the introductory study, we publish two testimonies: one is the testimony of a Communist, that is, a Partisan (Mihailo Berberian) and the other of a Chetnik (whose name and surname, despite all efforts, we have not been able to determine). It is not for us to judge the value of the content, we leave that to the readers.Biblioteka Svedočanstva (Muzej žrtava genocida) ; knj.
Jasenovac between numbers and victims: contribution to the study of the number of victims in the Jasenovac concentration camp system
Ona predstavlja i završetak jednog vrlo mukotrpnog istraživanja, kakvo nikada ranije nije bilo preduzeto. The issue of the number of victims in the Jasenovac concentration camps system in the Independent State of Croatia represents a controversial and disputable matter, even though more than seventy years have passed since the end of World War II. During the Yugoslavia disintegration, particularly in the last decade of the 20th century, although seemingly a technical and statistically more than a historical issue, it proved to be one of those that, for a number of reasons, appeared to have been inviting to conflict rather than to a scientific challenge to establish at least a rough truth. The exact number of victims will probably never be established. An essential subject of the research is a systematic analysis of the testimonies of camp survivors primarily as regards the number of the Ustasa genocide victims in the Jasenovac concentration camp system, and the presentation of the results based on the analysis with the aim of establishing the approximate number of victims. It is extremely significant to emphasize that the presented data related to the number of victims does not mean that they correspond to the actual number of victims.Edicija Sine ira et studio = Bez gneva i pristrasnosti.2. izdanje (2nd ed.)
Jewish Subotica: tourist guide
This catalogue/brochure describes typical and significant Jewish religious and sacred buildings in Subotica, as well as the activities and manifestations that were, and still are, held by the Jewish community in the city. All texts are accompanied by characteristic and rich photographs. These are synagogues, buildings that belonged to Jewish institutions (such as the Jewish hospital), or individuals (such as the building of the "First Subotica Candy and Chocolate Factory"). The buildings designed by recognized and well-known Jewish architects are listed. There are also busts that preserve the memory of significant Jewish writers from Subotica. Unfortunately, the time of the Holocaust and the date of the suffering of local Jews were also mentioned. In the end, the current life and work of the Jewish Community of Subotica and the traditional cultural autumn festival of Jewish culture are briefly presented
A talk with Loui Pechi
The authentic life story of Ljubomir Peći, who as a boy survived the Holocaust in Yugoslavia. Mr. Peći participated in Steven Spielberg's project related to the multimedia documentation of the life stories of survivors. His video interview, lasting over three hours, became the basis for a book published under the simple title "I am Lubo". In his book, and this presentation, the author touches on his carefree, completely idyllic boyhood in Zagreb. Then in a direct, childlike and completely naked way, he describes his experience of surviving the Holocaust and the consequences that the Second World War left on his parents' marriage and his life in the post-war years. He unobtrusively, but quite unambiguously, also touches on the often hushed-up and suppressed elements of the historical experience that followed the Holocaust: identity crises, transgenerational trauma and latent antisemitism that very much existed after 1945. Ljubo Peći's life story is about a man whose life threw him into many difficult trials and tribulations, but who, defiantly, always and only wanted to be who he was - Ljubo. The introduction to Mr. Peći's presentation is given by Dr. Aleksandar Stojanović, a senior research associate at the Institute for Recent History of Serbia and a Haver volunteer, who is currently working on translating and editing Peći's biographical book into Serbian.Predavanje održano 9. novembra 2021. godine. The lecture was held on November 11, 2021.Trajanje 1:31:41 minuta (duration 1:31:41 minutes).YouTube link: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSIprbOP5go

Мotives for the visit of Israeli tourists to Serbia: Jewish cultural and historical heritage in Vojvodina: Master's thesis
Jews have been present on the territory of today's Vojvodina since the Roman period and the early Middle Ages. The modern history of the Jewish community on the territory of Vojvodina has left much more material remains. Unfortunately, the horrors of the Holocaust almost destroyed this community and led to the destruction of a large segment of the Jewish material heritage. Tourists from Israel are certainly motivated in their travels by various motives characteristic of tourists from other countries. However, the specificity of the Jewish history of the 20th century may have led to the creation of a special kind of cultural tourist, a tourist who starts a journey with the desire to get to know his own culture. This includes the visit of the Israelis to the countries from which their ancestors originated and which they left after the Second World War, that is, the visit to the family house, the synagogue in the place where the ancestors lived, etc. The aim of this work is to analyze the current state of Jewish cultural and historical heritage in Vojvodina and its tourist organization, then to discover the real motives for the visit of Israeli tourists to Serbia (through a questionnaire) and to determine how much Jewish cultural and historical heritage motivates these tourists to visit Serbia.Master rad odbranjen 2021. godine na Univerzitetu u Novom Sadu, Prirodno matematički fakultet, Departman za geografiju, turizam i hotelijerstvo (Master's thesis - University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Department of Geography, Tourism and Hotel Management in 2021)
