Sangam poems in the Tholkappiyam scriptural textual tradition
Sangam literature was also being published at the time when Tholkappiyam was published along with its speeches. The Tholkappiyam commentators have quoted from various texts, including the Sangam literatures, while explaining the sutras. These quotations had a great impact on the literary editions of the Sangam. It is necessary to examine in detail the textual quotations of great importance. In this way, this article examines the Sangam poems in the Tholkappiyam epigraphical texts at various levels. This study is intended to explain the nature and inconsistencies of quotations in the Tholkappiyam text. Moreover, the study will help us to understand how the problem of contradiction can be solved by using versions of the text, the inconsistencies in the poetry program, and the versions of the songs in which the texts they show are contained
Puberty Ceremony of Palanimalai Pulaiyar
The Pulaiyars are one of the hill Peoples living in the Palanimalai range. Just as each ethnic group has its own uniqueness in their life, this hill tribes also having their uniqueness. It includes their all ritual events, peculiarly their puberty ceremony. The ritual event held especially for the blooming woman is seen as unique. Data was collected from field work in Nallurkadu Valavu village under Kodaikanal circle in Dindigul district. Presence of woman in the literary works of women writers
In this era where short story genre is spreading and increasing, most of the women writers have mentioned the presence of women in their literary works. Women hold an indispensable place in this society, but it can be seen that they suffer mentally and physically which are also reflected in the short stories of women writers. Tamil literature, to this day continues to express life or lifestyle. In this way, in the short story genre, the essence of the story is to depict a small part of life or a small event. Although women writers choose the plot of the story like other writers, the reason for the presence of woman is because they themselves are women. Women writers reveal the sufferings and the injustices against women albeit they emphasize their pleasures to a lesser extent. A man and a woman come together. They also bring out the evils of women working against women. Women writers bring out the frustrations of women psychologically and casually. Women writers bring out the injustices against women in every era, how the family and society she depends on are responsible for her wrong decisions, and also insist that women too have heart, longings and expectations through the female characters in their short stories. A woman suffers in every phase of her life because of her dependents, the social view that women are the only ones to make mistakes, and she tries to escape from it, and finally the situations where life itself is questioned, and the crimes committed by men depend on women. Among the contemporary writers, Thilagavathy’s literary works emphasises on the development and improvement of the people who belong to the low income sector. In particular, the plight of the construction workers is still worse. The novel, Kalmaram draw on the upliftment of the construction industry as a conceptual tool. The novel enkindles the concept through the women characters who protest and raise voice against the highclass society. This novel discloses the suffering, misery, burden, oppression and misfortune of the construction workers through its fictional characters. This study exposed the deplorable condition of workers in the construction industry in the novel.
