In this context, a consistent relational screening model was used for the purpose of the quantitatively conducted study. The research group consisted of 89 women and 167 men, with a total of 256 physical education and sports teachers. In the selection of this research group, easy sampling method was used. A survey form was used as a data collection tool and this form consists of three parts. The first part of this survey form is "Personal Information Form", the second part is "Toxic Leadership Scale" and the third part is "Maslach Burnout Inventory-Learner Form". The raw data obtained through this form was first calculated with identifying statistics being taken into account by the data type. Differences and correlations analysis of the data obtained in the research were performed. Accordingly, significant differences were found in the context of the participants' perception of toxic leadership according to the variables of the state of active sports and perceived monthly personal income level. However, according to the gender, marital status, educational status, school level, administrative duty history, school location and perceived monthly family income level variables, no significant difference was identified in toxic leadership perceptions. However, a significant relationship was found between the family income level variable of the participants and their perception of toxic leadership. On the other hand, no significant relationship was identified between the age, personal income level and work year variables and toxic leadership perceptions of the participants. In addition, in the context of burnout of the participants, significant differences were found according to marital status and school location variables. However, the gender of the participants, education status, school level, administrative duty history, active sports status, etc, no significant differences in burnout were identified based on perceived monthly personal income level and perceived monthly family income level variables. However, significant associations were found between the age, family income level and the study year variables and burnout of the participants. On the other hand, no significant relationship was identified between the personal income level variable and burnout of the participants. As a result, it was found that there were positive and meaningful relationships between the participants' perceptions of toxic leadership and their professional burnout. In this respect, it can be argued that as the toxic leadership perceptions of the participants increase, their professional burnout increases. Manufacturing high-quality casting parts with complex geometries requires high engineering skill and precision. One essential quality concern is isolated hot spots within the castings, often in thick sections. Each hot spot must be consistently fed or mitigated through directional solidification techniques. The impact of various mold sands and the geometry of chill parts on solidification direction was investigated using specialized casting and general-purpose simulation programs. A parametric optimization method was employed to analyze directional solidification to adjust the geometry of the chill parts. The results indicate that employing diverse mold sands to enhance cooling in the thick sections was a viable strategy for achieving directional solidification in parts where the feeding pathway is obstructed due to changes in cross-section. Furthermore, the study revealed that intricate details in the chill part's geometry are not critical; however, a minimum volume (or weight) was necessary for adequate directional solidification. Lastly, an easily applicable mathematical model has been developed to determine the required volume of chill parts to ensure successful directional solidification. We thank Dr Li Wang for his help with the COMSOL program. Determination of the Natural Frequency Change of Different Bayburt Stone (Tüfit) Sizes During the Transportation in the Screw Conveyor

    No full text
The mechanism that carries the powder or tiny granular particles with the rotational movement of the spiral shaft is called the screw conveyor. The working principle of screw conveyors is transporting dust particles due to rotating the screw shaft placed in a cylindrical pipe with engine power. The transport process transfers the powder particles to the conveyor from the feed pipe at the top of the mechanism to the wings (helix) of the helix shaft. In this study, a scaled prototype of the screw conveyor was produced. Different Bayburt stone (Tüfit) sizes were transported utilizing the prototype, and changes in the natural frequency of the screw conveyor were measured during particle transportation. The natural frequency value of the fine particles of Bayburt stone is determined as the lowest (15.67 Hz), and the natural frequency value is determined as high in the coarse particles (20.32 Hz). This is expected for this test, which is an example of forced vibration. The increase in the weight of the particles with increasing volumetric size also causes an increase in the external force values they create. The increase in mass value and the change in dynamic loads increased the natural frequency value for forced vibration. It has been observed that the natural frequency values increase in the range of 10-15 percent with the increase in particle sizes from fine to coarse. As a result, it has been determined that the size of the particles carried on the conveyor is important in determining the natural frequency of the system

Propolis, owing to its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, acts as a cariostatic agent, capable of preventing the accumulation of dental plaque and inhibiting inflammation. The anti-inflammatory properties of propolis are attributed to caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE), which is present in European propolis. The objective of the conducted study was to assess the anti-inflammatory effects of the Polish ethanolic extract of propolis (EEP) and isolated CAPE on stimulated with LPS and IFN-alpha, as well as the combination of LPS and IFN-alpha. The cytotoxicity of the tested compounds was determined using the MTT assay. The concentrations of specific cytokines released by the HGF-1 cell line following treatment with EEP (25-50 mu g/mL) or CAPE (25-50 mu g/mL) were assessed in the culture supernatant. In the tested concentrations, both CAPE and EEP did not exert cytotoxic effects. Our results demonstrate that CAPE reduces TNF-alpha and IL-6 in contrast to EEP. Propolis seems effective in stimulating HGF-1 to release IL-6 and IL-8. A statistically significant difference was observed for IL-8 in HGF-1 stimulated by LPS+IFN-alpha and treated EEP at a concentration of 50 mu g/mL (p = 0.021201). Moreover, we observed that CAPE demonstrates a stronger interaction with IL-8 compared to EEP, especially when CAPE was administered at a concentration of 50 mu g/mL after LPS + IFN-alpha stimulation (p = 0.0005). Analysis of the phenolic profile performed by high-performance liquid chromatography allowed identification and quantification in the EEP sample of six phenolic acids, five flavonoids, and one aromatic ester-CAPE. Propolis and its compound-CAPE-exhibit immunomodulatory properties that influence the inflammatory process. Further studies may contribute to explaining the immunomodulatory action of EEP and CAPE and bring comprehensive conclusions.Medical University of SilesiaThis work is the product of an Erasmus + mobility project

Progranulin (PGRN) is a multifunctional protein that is critical in the retention of embryos in the endometrium of the uterus and the protection of cervical tissue during fetal growth. In case of PGRN release and dysfunction, cervical tissue may remodel (regeneration) and lead to the risk of abortion. Serum PGRN level in sheep and its variation according to different physiological periods and its relationship with some biochemical parameters are unknown. In this study, the relationship between early lactation, early and late pregnancy serum PGRN levels and some biochemical parameters in Akkaraman sheep was investigated for the first time. In the literature search, no similar studies were found on the relationship between early lactation, early and late pregnancy serum PGRN levels and some biochemical parameters in Akkaraman sheep. The research was carried out on 90 Akkaraman sheep reared in the same herd under the same care and feeding conditions. In the study, Akkaraman ewe were divided into 3 groups as early lactation, early pregnancy and late pregnancy. 1st group is early lactation period ewe (first 60 days of lactation), (n = 30), 2nd group is in the first period of pregnancy (on the 0-90th day of the first pregnancy (n = 30)), 3rd group is in the late pregnancy of pregnancy (100-150 days of pregnancy (n = 30)) was created. Blood samples from vena jugularis were taken before morning feeding from the animals that formed the study groups. PGRN levels in serum were determined by ELISA method. In addition, glucose, calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), phosphorus (P), total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low density lipoprotein (LDL), high density lipoprotein (HDL), very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) levels were analyzed in biochemistry autoanalyzer. As a result of the study, lactation and early pregnancy and late pregnancy mean serum PGRN levels were determined as 1.93, 1.78, 1.33 ng mL-1, respectively. The serum PGRN, glucose, Ca, Mg, P, TC, TG, LDL, HDL and VLDL levels of sheep with late pregnancy, early lactation and early pregnancy periods, which constitute the study groups, were found to be statistically significant (P<0.05). Our results have shown that due to the physiological role of PRGN in keeping the embryo in the endometrium of the uterine and in preserving the cervical tissue during fetal growth, there may be a useful parameter in the pursuit of the pregnancy process

Erratum: Evaluation of benzaldehyde derivatives as being bovine kidney aldose reductase inhibitors

    No full text
Aldose reductase (AR) catalyzes the production of sorbitol from glucose in the polyol pathway, and it is a critical enzyme that causes an aberrant aggregation of sorbitol in insulin- independent tissues, create some problems including retinopathy, neuropathy, and nephropathy. AR inhibition has been shown to be a viable approach for reducing these side effects. The current study aimed to introduce new AR inhibitors to the literature. For this purpose, benzaldehydes were examined as being AR inhibitors. Firstly, the homogenate was prepared from the bovine kidney, then inhibition studies were carried out. It was found that all derivatives inhibited AR. The inhibitory potency of 4- Phenyl benzaldehyde (3) and 2- Bromobenzaldehyde (6), having IC50 values as 0.23 and 1.37 ?M, respectively, was determined higher than standard inhibitor sorbinil. After in vitro inhibition studies, estimated binding energies and binding modes of derivatives with enzyme were predicted by molecular docking. Compound 3 exhibited a maximum docking score of -8,61 kcal/mol. In conclusion, these compounds especially compound 3 may be guiding agents that can be used to synthesize new drug candidate molecules to treat or prevent diabetic complications
