Indoor Localization with Ensemble Machine Learning via Visible Light Communication Channels
An indoor localization system based on received signal strength, visible light communication (VLC) and several machine learning approaches is proposed in this paper. Our proposed framework is divided into two strategies. The first one is consisting of gathering our dataset based on MATLAB software to create indoor VLC channel model. While the second phase is depending on training the gained dataset using ensemble machine learning models. Specifically, random forest, decision tree and gradient boosting models. In order to evaluate the robustness of the proposed framework, several evaluation metrics are applied, specifically, training time, testing time, classification accuracy (CA), area under curve (AUC), F1-score, precision, recall, logloss, and specificity.
It is observed that the proposed framework achieves 0.991 for AUC, 0.986 for CA, F1-score, precision and recall. While logloss, and specificity obtains 0.077 and 0.991, respectively. Moreover, additional several evaluation error metrics are applied, mean square error (MSE), root mean square error (RMSE), mean absolute error (MAE) and coefficient of derivation of RMSE (CVRMSE). The gained results are 0.003 for MSE, RMSE is 0.055, MAE is 0.041 and CVRMSE 1.316 is Our proposed framework achieves the best performance based on different evaluation metrics
The Impact of Job Rotation on the Constitutional Rights of Public Employee: A Comparative Study
Objectives: This study aims to analyze the job rotation policy from a constitutional and legal perspective by evaluating the texts of this policy and its adherence to constitutional guarantees for public employees. It also seeks to establish a theoretical framework for this policy as a significant topic in modern administrative organization. Methodology: The study adopted a descriptive approach to analyze the issues related to job rotation based on legislative and judicial frameworks, alongside an analytical approach to evaluate the relationship between this policy and constitutional guarantees for public employees. Additionally, a comparative method was employed to study relevant legislation in Jordan and Yemen. Results: The study concluded several key points: 1. Job rotation contributes to achieving organizational legitimacy and addressing gaps arising from breaches of public employee guarantees, while also enhancing administrative accountability. 2. There are no clear regulations in Jordan for organizing job rotation, except for some principles in the Judicial Independence Law. Conclusions: The study made several recommendations, including: 1. The Jordanian legislator should amend Article 120 of the Constitution to assign the regulation of civil service to the legislative authority instead of the executive authority, to preserve acquired rights and stable legal positions. 2. The Yemeni legislator should specify penalties and procedures against the administration in case of non-compliance with the job rotation law and ensure explicit articulation of constitutional and organizational guarantees. 3. Relevant authorities in Jordan should form a committee to study a draft job rotation law, considering the need to amend Article 120 of the Constitution, to achieve transparency and enhance regulatory and accounting legislation in combating corruption
Structural Transformation and Employment Trends in Jordan
Historical experience suggests that improving employment and working conditions is not achievable without structural transformations in the economy. Through these transformations, surplus labor in informal sectors and activities can be moved to higher-productivity economic activities. In this research paper, the trends in the relationship between structural transformation and employment in Jordan during the period 1990-2022 were analyzed. The research highlights several key findings from the analysis. First, it identifies long-term equilibrium relationships between structural transformation and employment fluctuations. Secondly, the main research variable total production (LY) is statistically significant in all models, but it varied in terms of magnitude and direction. Its impact was positive in the agricultural and industrial models, with an elasticity of approximately 2.2%, and 0.48% respectively. In the services sector, the coefficient of total production was negative 1.4%. Thirdly, the results show that the impact of financial crises, Arab sprig, and COVID-19 on the role of structural transformation in employment was negative as indicated by the significant and negative dummy coefficients
THE DESIGN STUDIO DILEMMA The “Slicing Method”
The design studio presents a multifaceted challenge due to the absence of a direct teaching approach, relying heavily on the teacher\u27s expertise, design acumen, and pace. Furthermore, much of the existing literature on design studio methods tends to be philosophical or opinion-based, lacking practical solutions for ongoing challenges in this domain. While it\u27s easy for scholars to theorize, offering comprehensive procedures to address design studio issues proves considerably more difficult. There\u27s no unanimous agreement on the topic; most design studio models are based on individual opinions as scholars and practitioners view the topic from different angles, developing their own perspectives. However, interpretations, opinions, suggestions, or theories attempting to address the drawbacks in teaching the design studio may not be helpful when architecture students struggle to develop their design skills. Recognizing the varying levels of intelligence and understanding among students as crucial factors influencing the design process and project quality, it becomes essential to devise a teaching method that provides a clear design sequence to mitigate flaws in the design studio. This paper aims to introduce a new and comprehensive design studio model calling it the Slicing Method, a design studio teaching model that offers a systematic, gradual, and step-by-step design sequence. By implementing a clear and straightforward design sequence, this method ensures simplicity, consistency, and structure in the design process for students to follow. The Slicing Method emphasizes simplicity at each step, encouraging the creation of clear and uncluttered architectural spaces. It also ensures compliance with building codes and emergency evacuation protocols, distributes responsibilities and workload evenly among tutoring team members, and provides meticulous daily monitoring of students\u27 design processes. Additionally, it incorporates three jury rehearsal simulations before the final project defense, enhancing students\u27 confidence and presentation skills. This paper moves beyond most of the available worldwide design studio models that offer theoretical guidelines only, - by presenting a detailed description of the Slicing Method, covering studio themes, design sequence, tutoring modes, defined workloads, project complexity and consistency across the undergraduate syllabus, rigorous progress follow-up systems, fair grading procedures, considerations for student’ grade improvement petitions, tutors\u27 competence and attitude, and an effective jury system. The new method is tested and verified in two different studio environments, currently during the 2023-2024 academic year in a physical design studio, and during 2019-2020 Covid pandemic in an online environment with introducing extensive illustrated examples form the students’ work in both studios
