The Role of Kindergarten Curriculum in Developing Soft Skills among Children from the Perspective of Kindergarten Teachers
Get PDFThe present study aimed to explore the role of kindergarten curriculum in developing soft skills among children from the perspective of kindergarten teachers. The researcher adopted a descriptive survey approach and utilized a questionnaire as the primary data collection tool. The study sample consisted of 275 kindergarten teachers from public schools under the Mafraq District Directorate of Education. The results indicated that the role of the kindergarten curriculum in developing children\u27s soft skills was high, with a mean score of 3.76. Furthermore, the findings showed no statistically significant differences at the (α ≤ 0.05) significance level in participants’ assessments based on their academic qualifications. However, statistically significant differences were found based on teaching experience, favoring teachers with 10 or more years of experience
Manifestations of Referential and Methodological Dualities in Postcolonial Literary and Critical Discourse
Get PDFPostcolonial discourse is a literary and critical postmodern discourse that operates both internally and externally, intertwining politics, knowledge, literary texts, and critical analysis to examine the effects of the postcolonial experience. This study aims to uncover the referential and methodological dualities which shape postcolonial discourse and guide its methodological approaches and tools. The study concluded that postcolonial discourse exhibits two main types of dualities. The first is referential dualities, which can be categorized into five types: colonial literature vs. postcolonial literature, colonialism vs. imperialism, postcolonial literature vs. postcolonial criticism, the relationship between innovation and tradition in postcolonial literature and criticism, and the intersection of Eastern and Western thought in shaping postcolonial discourse. The second type is methodological dualities, classified into four categories: the relationship between center and periphery, the self vs. other, language and hybridity, and military colonialism vs. cultural colonialism. These referential and methodological dualities play a crucial role in shaping postcolonial discourse, both descriptively and analytically
The Role of Public School Principals in the University District Education Directorate in Enhancing Teachers\u27 Professional Growth from their Perspective
Get PDFThis study aimed to identify the role of school principals\u27 self-management practices in enhancing teachers\u27 professional growth from their perspective. The study utilized a descriptive method with a questionnaire as the data collection tool. The sample consisted of 275 male and female teachers from public schools in the University District Directorate of Education, selected through simple random sampling. The results showed that school principals\u27 self-management practices in enhancing teachers\u27 professional growth in the University District Directorate of Education, from their perspective, were rated high, with a mean score of 3.85. Additionally, the results indicated that there were statistically significant differences at the significance level (α≤0.05) in teachers\u27 assessments of the role of principals\u27 self-management practices in enhancing their professional growth, attributed to experience, with differences favoring those with 10 or more years of experience. However, no significant differences were found related to the gender variable. Based on the study results, the researcher presented several recommendations, the most important of which was the necessity of continuing to delegate administrative authority to schools and granting principals more powers related to managing their schools, particularly concerning methods and areas for teachers\u27 professional growth
The Interpretation of Historical Referencing in the Novel ‘Morisco’ by Hassan Ouriad
Get PDFThe historical dimension in the novel operates within a tense reference framework, characterized by continuity and expansion, dictated by the law of succession between two texts separated by the aesthetic distance required by the art of the novel. Direct engagement with this reference framework can lead to superficial judgments regarding the authenticity and artistry of the work. Narrative analysis alone does not suffice in revealing its secrets or resolving its complexities, due to the intertwining of historical references with ideological and narrative aspects. Therefore, it relies on the concepts of sequential semiotics, as established by Vladimir Krizinsky, represented through a set of mechanisms that examine the relationship between the historical and the imaginative, such as mediation, embodiment, blending, illusion, and density. This study aims to apply these concepts to Hassan Ouriad\u27s The Morisco (2011), a novel that adopts the tragedy of the Moriscos as its historical reference. The Moriscos were Muslims of Andalusia who remained after its fall in 1492, suffering under the Inquisition before being forcibly exiled to various lands. Hassan Ouriad’s novel is based on two main sources: the travelogue of Shihab al-Din Ahmed ibn Qasim al-Hajari, known as Afuqay (1569-1642) in Al-Shihab Ila Liqa\u27 al-Ahbab (1611-1613), and the historical writings of the contemporary Morisco historian Muhammad Qashtillo. The Effect of Psychological Variables associated with Aging on the Psychological State of Seniors in Jordan according to Gender and Exercise Habits
Get PDFThis research aims to identify the level of psychological variables associated with aging (depression, anxiety, and stress) and their impact on the mental health of older adults in Jordan, based on gender and physical activity variables. The researchers used a descriptive approach, and the sample consisted of 63 older adults, including 30 males and 33 females, aged 60 years and older. The research tool employed was the DASS-21 scale to measure depression, anxiety, and stress. The results showed that the level of psychological variables associated with aging among older adults in Jordan was moderate. Statistically significant differences were found in the areas of anxiety and stress in favor of females, while no significant differences were found in the area of depression based on gender. The results also revealed significant differences in the level of depression, with older adults who did not engage in physical activities showing higher levels compared to those who did. Additionally, there were differences in the level of anxiety, favoring older adults who exercised once a week compared to those who exercised twice or more per week. The researchers concluded that a lack of physical and sports activities negatively impacts mental health and increases psychological manifestations associated with aging, such as anxiety, depression, and stress. They also pointed out that older adults are often unaware of the psychological benefits associated with physical activity and that regular physical and sports activities play an effective role in reducing the severity of depression, anxiety, and stress among older adults
Choosing the Ideal Husband from a Girl\u27s Perspective: The Case of University Students in Jordan
Get PDFThe study aims to identify the factors and reasons that influence the decision to choose an ideal husband from the perspective of university students. A descriptive approach was applied in this research, and a questionnaire was developed as the primary tool for data collection. The questionnaire included general characteristics of the study sample and 16 items. Additionally, a non-probability convenience sample of 100 undergraduate students from the University of Jordan was selected. The results revealed that the largest percentage of the study sample had an average economic income, with many participants residing in Amman and Fuhais. Regarding the importance of marriage, emotional stability was identified as the most important factor by most participants, followed by forming a family. In contrast, economic security received the least emphasis concerning their willingness to leave university for marriage. When asked about the desired personal qualities in a future husband, the responses indicated that older females place greater importance on educational attainment, followed by a man’s kindness and tenderness. Wealth and outward appearance were given the least attention among the respondents. Moreover, most participants preferred an intelligent man, followed by a light-hearted (funny) man. Regarding the factors that attract girls to young men, the responses primarily highlighted personality traits, followed by external appearance, fitness, and popularity. Based on these findings, the study recommends the implementation of educational programs that emphasize the principles of upbringing in choosing a life partner, as well as enhancing the role of the media in promoting the values of married life

Sustainable Leadership in Family-Owned Businesses: The Practice of Searching Profitability and Evaluating the Business’ Effects on the Environment
Get PDFObjective: This research studies family business sustainability leadership adoption obstacles especially regarding their dual need to achieve both profitability and environmental impact targets while examining potential solutions to these problems. Methodology: A research methodology included literary analysis and field studies along with questionnaire distribution for obtaining qualitative and quantitative data. The research survey gathered information about how family businesses handle sustainability measures that focus specifically on their energy consumption as well as energy efficiency and water management plans. Results/Findings: The analysis revealed renewable energy adoption by 80% of the businesses along with energy efficiency implementation in 75% of the examined companies yet only 40% of the organizations practiced water conservation practices. Sustainability commitments within the businesses were clearly evident to researchers but they also recognized that water conservation remained a major point of weakness. Family businesses demonstrate a business model which gives precedence to profitability over environmental sustainability. Family businesses need encouragement for adopting comprehensive sustainable strategies and water conservation strategies through direct support from both public and private institutions. Conclusion/Recommendations: Further investigations in sustainability practices at the sector level need to evaluate neglected measures while improving environmental responsibility of family businesses
Analysis of Linguistic Issues in Audiovisual Translation - Subtitling
Get PDFAbstract. Audiovisual Translation (AVT) is a term used for the translation which appears on screen. This product can be written in the form of subtitles, or spoken as in dubbing and it could be also done as a voiceover. This study discusses the AVT with subtitling as an example. Due to the massive growth of media, the need for professional translators and good translation is high. This study used an animated TV series called Fruits Basket as the main example of subtitling. This TV show is an English dubbed version of the Japanese series consisting of 26 episodes. Therefore, the first mission here is to subtitle the first three episodes from this series, Fruits Basket, from English into Arabic. This series has been chosen to be subtitled because of its creative unusual plot and the excessive use of slang and idioms. In addition, this animated show is known for its emotional characters’ lives and morals depicted in a touching way. For that reason, one of the aims of this project is to put these morals into words that catch the target audience’s hearts
Impact of Innovation on Competitive Advantage in Palestinian Telecommunications
Get PDFObjective: This study aimed to establish that innovation is a major axis that supports the competitive advantage of telecommunications companies, enabling them to launch innovative products and services that meet and exceed customer expectations. It helps improve the quality of services, reduce costs, and exploit new market opportunities, such as new generation networks. Innovation also enhances flexibility and adaptability, which prepares companies to effectively meet market challenges. Methods: The study included a random sample of employees of Palestinian telecommunications companies out of 3,000 employees. 350 responses were collected through an electronic questionnaire and a personal interview, 341 of which were considered valid for statistical analysis. Results: The study shows that there is a weak positive relationship between innovation in self-risk and competitive advantage with a rate of 0.488. The relationship between product, process and technology innovation with competitive advantage is weak and positive. This study analyzes the impact of innovation in different dimensions (product, process, technology and self-risk) on companies\u27 competitive advantage. “The study found that technological innovation explains 23.3% of competitive advantage, while process innovation accounts for 18.2%, product innovation contributes 6.1% to competitive advantage, and inherent risk innovation explains 23.8% of competitive advantage. The results show the importance of each of these dimensions in enhancing firms’ competitive advantage to varying degrees. Recommendations: The researchers recommend that investments in R&D and fostering a culture of innovation are crucial to maintaining the competitive advantage of Palestinian telecom companies. They also emphasize the importance of improving technological infrastructure and developing team skills to support creativity and sustainable innovation
