INVESTIGATION OF ACTIVATED CARBON FROM RICE WASTE USING SUPERHEATED STEAM
Activated carbon is essential in many industries and applications, especially in removing odor and color in sewage treatment plants. The most common activated carbon used is generated from coconut shells, which are difficult to obtain in many countries, especially in the Middle East, as coconut trees do not grow in the environment there; therefore, it was essential to find local alternatives from the national agricultural waste. This study presents the investigation of activated carbon from rice husks using superheated steam in a rotary kiln. The effect of thermal activation on the porosity of the activated rice husks at different temperatures was investigated. Additionally, the ability to hold onto substances and the balance of how much can be held were looked at for the carbonized samples at various temperatures. According to the results, the optimal carbonization temperature for obtaining maximal adsorption capacity was 800°C. The maximum capacity reached was 298 mg/g— about three times the capacity of commercial carbon from the coconut shell. The efficiency of dye removal for the prepared carbon was about 99% compared to 86% for the commercial activated carbon. Clear scanning using an electron microscope to monitor the analysis process of developing the rice husk until it is converted to activated carbon
Investigation the effect of integrating solar desalination systems with firefighting networks for coastal cities
This study investigates integrating solar desalination systems with seawater-based firefighting networks as a sustainable solution for coastal cities facing freshwater scarcity. This study evaluates technical feasibility, economic impact, and operational performance by comparing conventional seawater firefighting infrastructure with systems utilizing desalinated water produced via solar energy. The methodology includes a detailed component and cost analysis of both systems, supported by experimental pump performance tests using varying salt concentrations and seawater. Results indicate that desalinated water systems offer significant economic savings—approximately 48.82%—due to reduced corrosion, lower maintenance demands, and improved pump efficiency. Experimental findings also show that increased salinity accelerates cavitation and reduces both pump head and efficiency. The study concludes that integrating solar-powered desalination with firefighting infrastructure enhances system sustainability, operational reliability, and long-term cost-effectiveness, making it a viable alternative for resilient emergency water supply in coastal environments
The Level of Practice of Public School Principals in Ajloun Governorate Regarding Community Participation
The study aimed to identify the extent to which public school principals practice community participation in Ajloun Governorate. Algerian Viewers’ Attitudes toward Taboo Language: A Case Study of Mourad Oudia’s Humorous YouTube Content
The present research aims to investigate taboo language within an online setting. The study has two main objectives: (1) to identify the taboo language themes frequently used by Algerian comedian Mourad Oudia to create humorous content, based on Ljung\u27s (2011) and Qanbar\u27s (2011) classifications, and (2) to examine the impact of age and gender on Algerians\u27 attitudes toward these themes. It focuses on exploring perceptions of taboo language across different generations in Algeria. The study employs a mixed-methods approach for data collection and analysis. To address the first research question, the initial step involved collecting primary data through content analysis. This data was then used to develop two subsequent questionnaires. The first questionnaire consisted of multiple-choice questions to identify the most offensive expressions, which informed the second questionnaire. The second questionnaire included two sections: demographic questions and a 14-item, five-point Likert scale measuring Algerians’ attitudes toward taboo language used by Mourad Oudia. The findings revealed that Mourad’s most frequently used taboo themes are words related to the hearer’s physical or social defects, references to the mother (family), and scatological expressions. Further results indicated that, regardless of age and gender, participants considered the religious (supernatural) theme to be the most offensive among the presented taboo expressions. While the study found that age does not significantly influence perceptions of taboo language, there was a significant gender difference, with males and females differing in their selection of the most offensive themes
The Level of School Directors\u27 Practice of Creative Management in the Central District within the Green Line Area from the Perspective of Teachers and Educational Counselors
The purpose of this study is to determine the degree of practice of school principals in the Central Area within the Green Line for Creative Management, from the perspectives of teachers and educational guides. Additionally, the study aims to explore the effect of variables (gender, educational qualification, school type, and job title) on the estimates of the study sample members regarding that degree. The researchers employed a descriptive survey methodology. The study sample consisted of 350 teachers and educational guides, selected through stratified random sampling from a population of 3,603 teachers and educational guides. A questionnaire was used to collect the data necessary to achieve the study’s objectives. The results indicated that the sample members’ perceptions of the principals’ practice of Creative Management were moderate. Furthermore, the study found no statistically significant differences in the estimates of the practice degree of school principals for Creative Management, attributable to the variables examined
Renewable Energy as a Mediating Variable in the Relationship between Strategic Planning and Sustainable Development in Palestinian Local Authorities
This study primarily aims to explore the correlations between strategic planning practices and the achievement of sustainable development in Palestinian local authorities. To accomplish the study\u27s objectives, a descriptive-correlational approach was employed to examine the relationship and impact between the study variables from the perspectives of members of strategic planning committees in the major governorates of the northern West Bank (Nablus, Tulkarm, Jenin, Tubas, Salfit, and Qalqilya). The study model was tested using a sample of 262 members, whose responses were collected through an electronic questionnaire. Non-probability (convenience) sampling was used for ease of data collection. The questionnaire served as the research tool, and the data were analyzed using the Smart-PLS4 software. The results revealed a statistically significant correlation between strategic planning and sustainable development, between strategic planning and the orientation toward renewable energy, and between the orientation toward renewable energy and the achievement of sustainable development. The study emphasized the role of renewable energy as an intermediary between strategic planning and sustainable development. These findings highlight the importance of strategic planning focused on sustainability and the transition to renewable energy as key drivers for achieving sustainable development in Palestinian territories
