Healthy bread quality index based on food label information

    No full text
The label on the package shows important information such as the origin, type, price, and nutritional and energy value of the product during the purchase of the product. A decision support system is aimed at obtaining health index corresponding to energy and nutritional values with different inputs by using fuzzy logic on bread, one of the most consumed food products, in order to increase the awareness of consumers about using label information and to make a healthy and accurate evaluation among product types. The proposed model consists of two subs and one main Mamdani type fuzzy inference systems. The main fuzzy inference system has six inputs consisting of nutrient content, total fat, sugar, salt, additives, and energy. Sub-fuzzy inference systems, on the other hand, produce outputs for total fat and nutrient content inputs, where the inputs for total fat are fat and saturated fat; the inputs for nutritional content are fiber, protein, and carbohydrates. The healthy bread quality index is determined by processing the data related to these inputs on the label into the system. Label data of 54 breads packed in 18 different types sold in supermarket chains is used. Finally, the graphical user interface and sensitivity analysis of the methodology are presented. No sponso

    No full text
Aim: This study was conducted to compare wrist proprioception, grip strength and fine motor skills between individuals with chronic neck pain and those without neck pain. Material and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 40 young people aged 18-25 with and without neck pain. After taking the sociodemographic characteristics of the participants, their pain intensity was evaluated with the Numerical Pain Scale (NPS), their cervical region functionality was evaluated with the Neck 29 Disability Index (NDI), and their mental status was evaluated with the Beck Depression Scale (BDS). A goniometric platform was used to evaluate wrist joint position perception in four different positions (flexion, extension, radial and ulnar deviation). Participants' gross hand grip was measured with a Jamar hand dynamometer. Coordinated movements and skills of hands, fingers and arms were evaluated with the Purdue Pegboard Test, and wrist joint range of motion values were evaluated with a universal goniometer. Results: Participants with neck pain were found to have moderate neck pain (4.38±1.68) and mild to moderate disability in terms of neck disability levels. A statistically significant difference was found in terms of insomnia problems in participants with neck pain compared to those without neck pain (p0.05). Conclusion: In conclusion, wrist position perception, grip strength and fine motor skill results were similar in young people with and without chronic neck pain. These findings highlight that chronic neck pain may be linked to other physiological or psychosocial factors and therefore, it emphasizes the importance of adopting a broader perspective. No sponso

Bu bağlamda arşiv-doküman taramasından yararlanılarak arkeoloji-turizm-göç düzleminde arkeoturizm alan yazınına katkıda bulunulacak; Paleolitik Dönemin tüm evrelerinin gerçekleştiği Karain Mağarası’nın arkeoturizm açısından taşıdığı önemi ortaya konulacak, Karain Mağarası’nın sürdürülebilirliği, uzun vadeli ekonomik, sosyal ve çevresel nasıl geliştirilebileceği konusunda bazı stratejiler sunulacaktır.No sponso

The judicial reflections of the termination ban and unpaid leave as interim measures during Covid-19 pandemic in Turkish labour law

    No full text
In order to align with the ILO Termination on Employment Convention no. 158,Turkish Labour Law has adopted job security system. This system protects certain workers against unfair and invalid terminations. Employers have to use the right of termination, which must be based on a valid reason either resulting from the employee or the enterprise. This usage of right should be in good faith, non-arbitrary; so Turkish Court of Cassation has developed some principles to assess this termination over the last decades. Although there are a great number of employees who are outside the scope of this protective norms, there are some other protective measures like severance pay, which is considered in the large-scale job security. After the coronavirus outbreak, Turkish Government has adopted the Law on Minimizing the Impacts of the New Coronavirus (Covid-19) Outbreak on Economic and Social Life and the Amendment of Certain Laws (7244) (“the Amendment Law”) published in the Official Gazette (31102) on 17 April 2020. This law included transitional provisions for the Labour Law no. 4857 and adopted an interim termination ban for all of the employers. On the other hand, employers forced to close down their workplaces had the opportunity to propose unpaid leave and employees were able to apply for the short-time allowance. Even though the unpaid leave proposal is a substantial alteration in the labour agreement, this measure was considered as a principal way for the agreements to continue. Generally, these interim measures were based on balancing mind-set and both parties of labour agreement were sharing the negative results. This paper would like to discuss the effects of these interim measures. In order to pursue this aim, firstly we briefly explain the general job security tools provided in Turkish Labour Law. Following this explanation, we will try to understand the preventive measures’ effects by examining the cases. Finally, we would like to address our view regarding the results and current and upcoming jurisprudential problems. No sponso

Safe resection of gastrointestinal stromal tumor adjacent to the esophagogastric junction: Endoscopic transgastric wedge resection

    No full text
Introduction: Gastrointestinal (GI) tumors are submucosal lesions with malignant potential, most commonly found in the stomach. Materials and Methods: Between 2017 and 2023, patients with a pre-diagnosis of GI stromal tumors (GISTss) located adjacent to the gastroesophageal junction, exophytic growth into the stomach and masses below 5 cm were excised with endoscopic stapler placed transgastrically under endoscopic vision. The gender, age, length of hospitalization, post-operative complications, and pathology results of the patients were recorded retrospectively. Results: 58 patients with a pre-diagnosis of GIST were operated. 19 of them were located adjacent to the esophagogastric junction. 2 of 19 patients underwent total gastrectomy and 3 underwent proximal gastrectomy. 14 patients underwent transgastric resection and 2 of these patients were excluded from the study because the pathology result could not be GIST. No signifcant complications were observed in any of the 12 patients included in the study. Conclusion: Transgastric wedge resection under endoscopic visualization is a safe and organ-sparing surgical method for GISTs below 5 cm located adjacent to the esophagogastric junction. No sponso

Mosquitoes are vectors of various illnesses like malaria, West Nile fever, yellow fever, and Zika virus, all of which can cause significant health issues in people. Chemical insecticides are used with to control mosquito infestations. In recent years, due to the improper use of insecticides, mosquitoes have developed resistance to these chemicals. In this study, the larvicidal effects of ethyl alcohol and acetone extracts of the flower part of the Sisymbrium officinale (L.) Scop. (Brassicales: Brassicaceae) plant species collected in the flowering period from the Döşemealtı district of Antalya against Culex pipiens L. (Diptera: Culicidae) mosquito species were tested under laboratory conditions. Second and third instar larvae were exposed to six different doses (10, 25, 50, 100, 250, and 500 ppm) for 120 hours. According to the results, the ethyl alcohol extract was more toxic on Cx. pipiens than the acetone extract, and the LC50 values were found to be 98.024 and 104.19 ppm, respectively. At the end of 120 hours, 96.67% mortality was observed in the ethyl alcohol extract at a dose of 500 ppm (the highest dose), while 90% mortality was observed in the acetone extract. It is thought that the plant-based commercial insecticides obtained from the S. officinale plant may be effective in mosquito control. No sponso

    No full text
With an emphasis on the most audacious choices taken, this study investigates the connection between courage and emotions in individual decisions and behaviors. This study used semi-structured interviews with 45 people to examine how courage is perceived and the emotional dynamics that surround heroic deeds. Participants consider their most daring actions and the feelings they had both before and after the deed by answering three thought-provoking questions. The results indicate what kinds of incidents are thought to be the most daring in the lives of regular people. Qualitative content analysis also reveals the emotional journey of courage, exposing a spectrum of feelings from anticipation and dread to relief, pride, and success thereafter. These varied tales add to the body of knowledge on courage and emotions and provide insightful information for studies on decision-making, psychology, personal growth, and how emotions interact with courage in big life decision. No sponso
