    Estimations for (n,a) reaction cross sections at around 14.5MeV using Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm-based artificial neural network

    Prediction of neutron-induced reaction cross-sections at around the 14.5 MeV neutron energy is crucial to calculate nuclear transmutation rates, nuclear heating, and radiation damage from gas formation in fusion reactor technology In this research, the new approach of reaction cross-section is presented. It has been assessed by utilizing the artificial neural network (ANN) when compared to more advanced algorithms, the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm-based ANN can be exceedingly fast. The correlation coefficients for a training R-value of 0.99283, a validation R-value of 0.991190, a testing R-value of 0.97337, and an overall R-value of 0.98515 demonstrate that Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm-based ANN is well suited for this purpose. . The obtained results were compared to theoretical calculations of TALYS 1.95 nuclear code. As a consequence, it has been demonstrated that the ANN model can be used to determine the systemic study for (n, α) reaction cross-sections.No sponso

    Determination of the effectiveness of beeswax in preventing nipple pain and cracks in primiparous breastfeeding mothers: a randomized controlled trial

    Objective Beeswax is a natural ingredient used effectively for wound healing. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of beeswax and breast milk in preventing nipple pain and cracks in the early postpartum period. Materials and Methods This non-blinded, randomized controlled trial was carried out between November 15, 2019, and April 1, 2020, in the postpartum clinic of a state university hospital and at mothers' homes. Ninety primiparous mothers meeting the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into beeswax (n=30), breast milk (n=30), and control (n=30) groups using simple randomization. Mothers in the beeswax, breast milk, and control groups were assessed for nipple pain and cracks on postpartum days 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 10th. Results On postpartum day 10, nipple pain and cracks occurred highest in the control group (%53.3), whereas nipple pain and cracks were encountered least in the beeswax group (%20,0) on postpartum observation days. The differences between the groups in terms of nipple cracks and pain severity were statistically significant (p < 0.05, p=0.004, and p=0.000, respectively). Conclusion Beeswax is more effective than breast milk in preventing nipple pain and crack formation. A beeswax barrier can be used to prevent nipple pain and cracks.No sponso

    Kronik bel ağrılı hastalarda alt ekstremite kemiksel diziliminin postüral kontrol ve fiziksel performansla ilişkisinin incelenmesi

    Amaç: Bu çalışma, kronik bel ağrılı (KBA) hastalarda alt ekstremite kemiksel dizilimi ile postüral kontrol ve fiziksel performans arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesi amacıyla yapıldı. Yöntem: Çalışmaya, 18-65 yaş arası KBA’lı 60 hasta dahil edildi. Hastaların alt ekstremite dizilimleri mekanik lateral distal femoral açı (mLDFA), medial proksimal tibial açı (mPTA), mekanik tibiofemoral açı (mTFA), eklem çizgisi yakınsama açısı (JLCA), anatomik tibiofibular açı (aTFA), anatomik mekanik açı (AMA), anatomik lateral distal femoral açı (aLDFA) ve Q açısı ile, ağrı şiddetleri Numerik Ağrı Skalası (NAS) ile, statik dengeleri Tek Ayak Üzerinde Durma Denge Testi, dinamik dengeleri Yıldız Denge Testi ve fiziksel performansları Fiziksel Performans Değerlendirme Test Bataryası (FPTB) ile değerlendirildi. Bulgular: Hastaların baskın taraf alt ekstremite aTFA ile anteromedial, medial ve posterolateral dinamik denge ölçümleri arasında, Q açıları ile baskın taraf alt ekstremite anteromedial ölçümleri arasında orta kuvvetli ilişki bulundu. Hastaların AMA ile çorap testi, yuvarlama ve parmak ucuna dokunma testi arasında orta kuvvetli ilişki bulundu. Q açısı ile çorap testi, yerden toplama ve parmak ucuna dokunma testi arasında orta kuvvetli ilişki bulundu (P<0,05). Çıkarımlar: Bu çalışma sonucunda bel ağrılı hastaların, alt ekstremite kemiksel dizilim açılarından aTFA ve Q açılarının postüral kontrol ile, AMA ve Q açılarının fiziksel performansları ile ilişkili olduğu görüldü. Bu hasta grubunun mevcut rehabilitasyon programlarına postüral kontrolü ve fiziksel performansı arttırmaya yönelik uygulamaların eklenmesi gerektiği düşünüldü.No sponso

    The perception of Turkish tourists for sustainable hotels and its impact on their hotel selection

    The United Nations defined sustainability in 1987 as meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Due to reasons such as climate changes, drought, depletion of the ozone layer, and reduction of natural resources, the concept of sustainability has started to invade in our lives incrementally since late 1980s. The three main dimensions of sustainability are defined as environment, economy and society. Goals for sustainable development have been determined and countries have been making plans on how they can develop in line with these goals. In addition, tourism sector has also been discussed in terms of sustainability and concepts such as sustainable destination, sustainable city, sustainable tourism have emerged. Among these, one concept that should be handled carefully is the concept of sustainable hotel. Hotels aim to provide the highest level of customer satisfaction with 24-hour customer service. However, issues such as high energy and water consumption and waste generation are among the functions that need to be meticulously managed for hotels, as in other service businesses. The concept of sustainability in Turkish tourism attracts increasing attention. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism has been pioneering and guiding in this field. Hotel businesses, on the other hand, are taking steps to obtain the necessary certificates in terms of sustainability, to develop measures and to become green and sustainable hotels. This research examines the perceptions of Turkish visitors on the concept of sustainable hotel; its impact on their hotel selection and questions whether the demographic differences may impact their perception. For this purpose, a scale is developed. In the first part of the developed scale, perception for the sustainable hotel concept is questioned; in the second part, their hotel selection preferences are asked. The data obtained are evaluated according to demographics like age, occupation, income level, education etc. to find out the impact of demographic differences on their perception and preferences. The results of this research may contribute to understand the perception level of Turkish visitors for sustainable hotels and how this perception may be further developed. Further studies may be performed to compare the perceptions of different countries with different variables. Sustainability has become an important driver for our future. However, its future depends on the level of peoples’ understanding and consciousness. Therefore, the findings of this research may contribute to the sustainability progress and development by providing important information for the society’s understanding for sustainable hotel concept. The findings will help tourism stakeholders to develop further strategies to implement better sustainability applications for hotels and tourism.No sponso

    Construction of a miniaturized monosaccharide detection system based on measuring electric current and testing its performance using a bodipy fluorescent dye

    In this study, a low-cost, miniaturized fluorescence-based measurement system for optical biosensors has been developed. A 3D-printed setup with a blue light-emitting diode (LED) and photodiode was used for electrical detection and monitoring of fluorescence light intensity. The system was used to explore the fluorescence quenching of boron-dipyrromethene (Bodipy) in the presence of boronic acid functionalized benzyl viologen (o-BBV) to develop a monosaccharide detection platform by studying at different pHs and temperatures. The results showed that the system has potential for further development and optimization. This study provides a proof-ofconcept for a low-cost and miniaturized optical biosensor for monosaccharides.No sponso

    Nicolai Hartmann Marburg'da ordinaryüs olduktan sonra en seçkin öğrencilerini akşamları evine davet ediyor ve geç saatlere kadar onlarla felsefi tartışmalar yapıyordu. Her dönem belirli bir felsefe problemine yoğunlaşan bu tartışmalara düşünürün verdiği ad "felsefi tartışma çevresi" idi. 1920-1950 yıllarında 40^tan fazla sayıda gerçekleşen bu çevrelere 1935-1938 arasında Berlin'de öğrenim görmekte olan Takiyettin Mengüşoğlu da katıldı. Hartmann'ın tek Türk doktora öğrencisi olan Mengüşoğlu'nun Türkiye'de de aynı şekilde az sayıdaki öğrencileriyle "felsefi tartışma çevresi" düzenlediğini biliyoruz. Bu kitapta Mengüşoğlu'nun Berlin'de katıldığı Yanılmanın İşlevi (Güz Dönemi 1935/36) ve Kavramların Değişimi Hakkında (Bahar Dönemi 1937) başlıklı tartışma çevrelerinin yanı sıra, onun İstanbul'da düzenlediği Fikirlerin Soysuzlaşması Hakkında (Güz Dönemi 1962/63) başlıklı tartışma çevresinin notları yer alıyor. Bu notlar filozofların yönetiminde gerçekleştirilen tartışmalar esnasında felsefi düşüncelerin nasıl geliştirildiğine ve terimlerin nasıl kavramlaştırıldığına mükemmel örnekler veriyor. Platon'un diyaloglarında neredeyse sadece Sokrates bunu yaparken Hartmann kavramlaştırmayı öğrencilerinin katkılarıyla gerçekleştiriyor. Bu işlevi sayesinde felsefi tartışma çevrelerinin notları felsefe dünyasında yeni bir yazın türü olarak karşımıza çıkıyor.No sponso

    Yara, çeşitli travmalar nedeniyle deri, müköz membranlar ve organ dokularının biyolojik bütünlüğünün bozulmasıdır. Kaybedilen biyolojik bütünlüğün yeniden kazanılması ise yara iyileşmesi olarak adlandırılır. Yara iyileşmesinde birbirinden ayrı ancak iç içe geçmiş karmaşık süreçler bulunmaktadır ve sürecin mümkün olan en hızlı ve en az hasarla tamamlanması için etkili bakıma ihtiyaç vardır. Yara bakımında amaç; mümkün olan en kısa sürede doku onarımını sağlamak, enfeksiyonu önlemek, iyileşme için uygun ortamı sağlamak, ağrıyı azaltmak ve en iyi estetik sonuca ulaşmaktır. Etkili ve başarılı bir yara yönetimi bireyin, yaranın ve yara çevresindeki derinin detaylı bir şekilde değerlendirilmesi ve uygun yara kapama ürünleriyle sağlanabilir. Yara kapama ürünleri aktif ve pasif yara kapama olarak iki kategoride sınıflandırılmaktadır. Pasif kapama ürünleri; çeşitli yara örtüleri, deri greftleri ve greft eşdeğerleridir. Aktif kapamalar ise; topikal negatif basınç, elektrik stimülasyonu, ışın tedavisi, hiperbarik oksijen, topikal oksijen tedavisi, ozon tedavisi, larva debritmanı, kök hücre teknolojileri, lazer ve ultrason tedavisi olarak sınıflandırılmıştır. Aktif kapama yöntemlerinde yara bakım yaklaşımları farklılıklar göstermektedir. Bunun için aktif yara kapama sistemlerinin bilinmesi ve uygun hasta bakımının sağlanması önemlidir. Bireylerin yaşam kalitelerini olumsuz etkileyen yaranın yönetimi multidisipliner bir ekip işidir. Bu ekibin vazgeçilmez üyesi hemşire; yaranın etkili yönetiminde hastalara kaliteli bakım sağlamak amacıyla bireyi, yarayı, iyileşme sürecini, yara bakımına ilişkin ürünleri ve yara bakım uygulamalarını değerlendirerek uygun girişimleri önerir ve uygular. Yaranın iyileşme sürecinde birey ve aileye bakım, eğitim ve danışmanlık sağlar. Bu derlemede aktif yara kapama sistemleri ve hemşirelik bakımı ile ilgili alanyazın incelenerek sunulmuştur.Wound is the deterioration of the biological integrity of skin, mucous membranes and organ tissues due to various traumas. Regaining lost biological integrity is called wound healing. There are complex processes that are separate but intertwined in wound healing, and effective care is needed to complete the process as quickly as possible and with the least damage. Purpose of wound care; to provide tissue repair as soon as possible, to prevent infection, to provide a suitable environment for healing, to reduce pain and to achieve the best aesthetic result. An effective and successful wound management can be achieved with a detailed evaluation of the individual, the wound and the skin around the wound, and appropriate wound closure products. Wound closure products are classified in two categories as active and passive wound closure. Passive closing products; various dressings, skin grafts, and graft equivalents. Active closures are; Topical negative pressure, electrical stimulation, radiation therapy, hyperbaric oxygen, topical oxygen therapy, ozone therapy, larval debridement, stem cell technologies, laser and ultrasound therapy. Wound care approaches differ in active closure methods. For this, it is important to know active wound closure systems and to provide appropriate patient care. The management of the wound, which negatively affects the quality of life of individuals, is a multidisciplinary team work. The indispensable member of this team is the nurse; In order to provide quality care to patients in the effective management of the wound, it evaluates the individual, the wound, the healing process, wound care products and wound care practices, and recommends and implements appropriate interventions. It provides care, education and counseling to the individual and family during the healing process of the wound.     Immigration, growth and unemployment nexus: a long-run analysis for Türkiye

    This study employs VECM, FMOLS, DOLS, and CCR methods to comprehensively explore the diverse effects of total immigration, including regular, irregular, and refugee movements, on unemployment in Türkiye from 2000 to 2022. Model 1 analyzes the overall influence of immigration, revealing a quadratic relationship wherein immigration initially reduces unemployment before triggering subsequent growth. Notably, the study identifies a rise in GDP per capita following increased unemployment linked to immigration, attributed to a surge in refugees, especially post-2013. Refugees, with their informal employment contributions, are seen as positively influencing economic growth, but at the expense of higher unemployment rates. Conversely, Model 2 dissects the effects of regular and irregular immigration, coupled with economic, educational, and inflationary factors, on unemployment. The analysis discerns that irregular immigration heightens unemployment, while regular migration alleviates it. A significant proportion of regular immigration comprises short-term and student permits, contributing positively to economic development and mitigating unemployment. Irregular migration, akin to refugee influx, fosters economic growth through informal employment, adversely impacting formal unemployment rates. The model also reveals a negative association between education and unemployment, emphasizing that heightened education levels lead to skill development and reduced unemployment. Additionally, the study notes the simultaneous rise in unemployment and inflation, potentially linked to informal employment resulting from immigration.No sponso
