Indoor air quality assessment in mines with fuzzy logic approach

    No full text
Some sad accidents and incidents recently in mines reveal the need for more research, studies, and output in this sector. Mine air quality is one of the most important research topics in the mining industry in terms of worker health and safety. The amount of gas in mines, the humidity in the air, and the amount of dust inside are among the factors that determine indoor air quality. The research aims to evaluate indoor air quality and air quality in and around mines with a fuzzy logic approach. There are three sub- and one main fuzzy inference system, which include nine different parameters and three main factors affecting the problem. The parameters of the proposed decision support system were determined by existing studies in the literature and regulations and instructions related to relevant institutions. The main factors used in the proposed system are gase rates (GR), climate conditions (CC), and air criteria (AC). Parameters of GR are defined as flammable gases, choking gases, toxic gases and oxygen; parameters of CC are temperature and humidity, and parameters of AC are PM10, PM2.5 and air speed. Main factors are calculated by entering data regarding 9 parameters into the system, and the final result is achieved by running these main factor values in the main system. Additionally, the application of the system according to certain data is also shown. By regular monitoring of these data, it is aimed to prevent possible risks from occurring negatively as much as possible and to increase the security of the environment. No sponso

Comparison of brand and retailer equity regarding purchase intentions of customers in Turkish automotive sector

    No full text
Several studies attempted to investigate brand equity and retailer equity regarding their relationship with the purchase intentions of customers. However, there is little research that studied both concepts in one single study. The first aim of the study is to investigate the relationship between brand equity and purchase intentions of customers; retailer equity and purchase intentions of customers. The second aim is to test the moderating effects of perceived advertising spending and retailer equity regarding the impact of brand equity on purchase intentions. Data were collected from Turkish customers. Results indicated the positive effect of brand and retailer equity on purchase intentions where the effect of brand equity was stronger. There were no moderating effects of retailer equity and perceived advertising spending regarding the impact of brand equity on purchase intentions. The most important findings were that brand equity and retailer equity have considerable and positive effects on the purchase intentions of customers; however, they act independently from each other.Müşterilerin satın alma niyeti kapsamında marka değeri ve perakendeci değerini araştıran çeşitli çalışmalar bulunmaktadır. No sponso

Substantiating EU citizenship: An unintended route to anti-establishment support

    No full text
This study explores the relationship between European Union citizenship and support for anti-establishment parties across the EU’s older and newer, post-communist democracies. By conceptually linking EU support to substantive EU citizenship, this study identifies the contingent nature of EU citizenship’s effect on support for anti-establishment parties. We conduct a multilevel regression analysis across 22 EU member-states, using data generated by a Eurobarometer survey conducted in 2018. This survey counts on support for EU coordinated foreign policy, in addition to conventional EU support measures, enabling an analysis at different levels of EU politics. Findings show that citizens’ support at these different levels depresses their support for anti-establishment parties across old democracies, yet increases it across new democracies. Hence, the effect of EU citizenship emerges as being contingent on whether citizens are in an old or a new, post-communist democracy of the EU, and on where the borders of the EU are drawn. This contingency has potential to be an instrument of deepening the emerging transnational cleavage between liberal, cosmopolitan and traditional, authoritarian values for old democracies and of manipulation by inward looking parochial, populist politics for new democracies. This will affect the nature of European politics and the future of integration. No sponso

A novel supercritical carbon dioxide combined cycle fueled by biomass: Thermodynamic assessment

    No full text
As a carbon-neutral type of renewable energy, biomass is beneficial for reducing carbon emissions in the electricity sector. A biomass gasification process integrated with a combined cycle is proposed here. Wood is chosen as the fuel and air as the gasifying agent. A supercritical carbon dioxide (SCO2) power cycle with recompression is selected for the recovery of waste heat from the combustion chamber. The net power output is considered to be 1 MW for the combined cycle in the investigation of component ratings and biomass feed rate. For a comprehensive thermodynamic analysis of this combined cycle, we examine three key parameters: gas turbine inlet temperature (1200–1400 K), topping cycle pressure ratio (5-10) and CO2 turbine inlet temperature (600–700 K). The maximum energy efficiency is achieved for the system at a specific pressure ratio and CO2 turbine inlet temperature. The energy efficiency rises with gas turbine inlet temperature, which reduces biomass consumption (at a fixed net power output). The CO2 emission rate to the environment is examined for various parameters; it is observed to decrease as biomass consumption decreases and to take on a value of 0.254 kg/s at an optimized state. No sponso

Bridging brand parity with insights regarding consumer behavior

    No full text
Previous research has investigated some of the relationships among brand parity (BP), brand image (BI), brand satisfaction (BS), and brand loyalty (BL). However, there is not a model investigating all of them in a single conceptual model. Based on information processing theory, the first aim of the article is to investigate the important, direct effect relationships among these variables. Moreover, scant information is available regarding the moderating role of BP. Consequently, the second purpose of the study is to test the moderating effect of BP regarding the effect of BI on BL and BS on BL. The data were collected from customers of chain stores in Antalya. The results supported the positive, direct effect of BI on BS and BL, plus BS on BL. There were no direct and moderating effects of BP. Based on the microeconomic behavior of consumers and because of the bounded rationality of consumers, as BP rises, consumers’ decisions are not affected regarding the effect of BI on BL and BS on BL. This is an important insight that brands should consider in terms of points of parity associations that affect consumers’ decision-making process and create a brand-loyal customer base.No sponso

Social media marketing activities and purchase intentions: Investigating mediating and direct effects regarding brand equity dimensions

    No full text
The first aim of the study is to investigate the effect of social media marketing activities (SMMA) on brand equity dimensions, and the impact of brand equity dimensions on purchase intentions in one single conceptual framework. The second aim is to explore the mediating effects of brand equity dimensions regarding the effect of SMMA on purchase intentions. A dataset of 907 Turkish youth consumers were analyzed. The findings revealed the direct and mediating effects regarding all brand equity dimensions in the context of SMMA and purchase intentions. Brand loyalty and perceived quality are more important dimensions considering the strength of the effects. The study shows the importance of brand equity dimensions in the context of SMMA and purchase intentions with significant direct and mediating effects. Additionally findings of the study guides marketing managers to efficiently use SMMA and build brand equity, which eventually turns into future purchases of consumers.Çalışmanın amacı öncelikle tek bir kavramsal model üzerinde sosyal medya pazarlama çabalarının (SMPÇ) marka değeri boyutları üzerine ve marka değeri boyutlarının satın alma niyeti üzerine olan etkisini incelemektir. No sponso

Evaluation of public transportation sustainability factors in Twin Cities of Pakistan: A DEMATEL analysis

    No full text
This study proposes a decision making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) approach for the evaluation of public transportation (PT) sustainability factors in Pakistan. The methodology both explores the priorities PT sustainability factors and lists cause and effect groups. After briefly reviewing the related literature, the PT sustainability framework is constructed, and the DEMATEL-based multiple-criteria decision analysis (MCDM) approach is introduced. Our methodology is then applied to evaluate PT sustainability factors in the Twin Cities (Islamabad, Rawalpindi) of Pakistan. A sensitivity analysis is also performed by assigning different weights to decision-makers. The results reveal the following: 1) Traffic congestion, infrastructure and aesthetics are the most prominent factors for PT sustainability. 2) Air pollution, infrastructure, accident damage, affordability, and aesthetics are in the cause group. 3) Traffic congestion, accessibility, and human health impact are consistently in the effect group, emphasizing their secondary nature. Their resolution depends on tackling the problems in the cause group. 4) Although environmental factors such as air pollution emerge as the most significant causal factor, they are ranked lower in significance. No sponso

Nonlocal abstract Ginzburg-Landau type equations and applications

    No full text
We study a nonlocal abstract Ginzburg-Landau type equation. The equation includes variable coefficients with convolution terms and an abstract linear operator function A in a Fourier-type Banach space E. For sufficiently smooth initial data, assuming growth conditions for the operator A and the coefficient a, the existence and uniqueness of the solution and the L-p -regularity properties are established. We obtain the existence and uniqueness of the solution, and the regularity of different classes of nonlocal Ginzburg-Landau-type equations by choosing the space E and operator A that occur in a wide variety of physical systems. No sponso

Phase-space analysis of tumor growth with an immune responses

    No full text
International European Conference on Mathematics, Engineering, Natural & Medical Sciences (19. : 2024 : Mingachevir, Azerbaijan)We present a phase-space analysis of a mathematical model of tumor growth with an immune responses. We consider mathematical analysis of the model equations with multipoint initial condition regarding to dissipativity, boundedness of solutions, invariance of non-negativity, local and global stability and the basins of attractions. We derive some features of behavior of the three-dimensional tumor growth models with dynamics described in terms of densities of three cells populations: tumor cells, healthy host cells and effector immune cells. We found sufficient conditions, under which trajectories from the positive domain of feasible multipoint initial conditions tend to one of equilibrium points. Here, cases of the small tumor mass equilibria-the healthy equilibrium point, the "death" equilibria have been examined. Biological implications of our results are discussed. Beginning with this article we intend to investigate the problems of mathematical and biological approaches to model the cancer growth dynamics processes and operations. It is important to take into account "the nonlinear property of cancer growth processes" in construction of mathematical logistic models. The nonlinearity approach appears very convenient to display unexpected dynamics in cancer growth processes expressed in different reactions of the dynamics to different concentrations of immune cells at different stages of cancer growth developments. Taking into account all the complex processes, nonlinear mathematical models can be estimated capable of compensation and minimization the inconsistencies between different mathematical models related to cancer growthanticancer factor affections. Of course, the development of powerful cancer immunotherapies requires an understanding of the mechanisms governing the dynamics of tumor growth. No sponso

The distributional consequences of globalization: a nonlinear analysis of Canada’s economic, social, and political dimensions

    No full text
This study examines the effects of globalization on income inequality with its economic, social, and political dimensions in the period 1995–2022, in the case of Canada. The model measures income inequality using the Gini Index as the dependent variable and incorporates three globalization dimensions, along with control variables like human capital, GDP per capita, foreign direct investment, and urban population growth. We employ Fully Modified Ordinary Least Squares (FMOLS) and Canonical Cointegration Regression (CCR) methods to assess long-term relationships. The study addresses the nonlinear effects of globalization’s economic, social, and political dimensions on income inequality. The findings indicate that economic and social globalization initially exacerbate income inequality, but eventually lead to improvements in income distribution as their effects reverse beyond a certain threshold. This demonstrates the nonlinear nature of these impacts on income distribution. Additionally, we find that human capital, foreign direct investment, and urban population growth reduce income inequality. However, GDP per capita exhibits a nonlinear relationship with income inequality, consistent with the Kuznets Curve hypothesis. Initially, GDP growth worsens income distribution, but at higher levels, it contributes to improving equality. This relationship was confirmed by the FMOLS estimates, but the CCR method did not confirm this result, suggesting that the impact of GDP on inequality should be interpreted with caution. Similarly, while FMOLS indicates a significant effect of political globalization on income inequality, the CCR method does not confirm this result, implying that the findings for political globalization should also be considered carefully. Overall, this study shows that economic and social globalization initially increase inequality, but their impact diminishes at higher levels. While human capital, foreign direct investment, and urban population growth all contribute to reducing inequality, these results reveal that when income equality is taken into consideration, globalization policies and economic growth strategies should be designed more carefully, with balancing policies aimed at reducing income inequality. In this context, a more detailed examination of the effects of different dimensions of globalization on income distribution will have important implications for policymakers. No sponso
