Parents’ Language Beliefs and Attitudes toward the Indonesian Language in Transnational Families

Parents’ language beliefs and attitudes play a significant role in shaping language practices at home. This descriptive qualitative study focuses on the families’ perspectives on multilingualism and their views on the necessity of learning the Indonesian language in order to find out parents’ beliefs and attitudes toward the Indonesian language. In collecting the data, this study used semi-structured interviews with 11 Indonesian-Australian families in Melbourne. The collected data were subsequently analyzed by using NVivo software. The findings indicate that all parents support multilingualism, recognizing its cognitive benefits, economic advantages, and the influence of their own multilingual experiences. However, variations exist regarding the inclusion of the Indonesian language in their children's multilingual repertoire. While eight families emphasized the importance of learning Indonesian to maintain family bonds and cultural heritage, three families perceived it as unnecessary due to their children’s primary identity as Australian citizens, infrequent visits to Indonesia, and the limited global utility of the language. These findings suggest that while multilingualism is believed to be widely valued, parental attitudes toward specific languages are influenced by their personal experiences, perceived utility, and cultural connections. Further research into how these beliefs translate into actual language practices at home would provide deeper insights into family language management

Balancing Agricultural Development and Conservation: Community Perspectives on Land Use Challenges in Lebong Regency, Indonesia

This research analyzes community perspectives on agriculture, plantation, and food programs in Lebong Regency, with a particular focus on the Double Cropping Season (MT2) program. This research draws upon three interconnected theoretical frameworks: Political Ecology Framework for analyzing power relations in environmental access, Sustainable Livelihoods Approach for examining rural community adaptations, and Adaptive Co-Management Theory for analyzing collaborative natural resource management. Using a mixed-method approach, the study was conducted in seven sub-districts with 100 respondents selected through cluster random sampling. The findings reveal varying levels of community satisfaction, with satisfaction indices reaching 76 in three main sub-districts and 66 in four companion sub-districts. 78% of the community supports program continuation with noted improvements. Key implementation challenges include inequitable land ownership structures, where the majority are tenant farmers, agricultural land conversion, and land conflicts related to conservation areas that cover 69.89% of Lebong Regency. Analysis through these theoretical frameworks reveals that successful agricultural development in Lebong requires fundamental changes in power distribution, institutional support, and program implementation approaches. The research recommends establishing a multi-stakeholder governance platform, modifying the MT2 program to focus on agricultural intensification, and adopting more flexible management approaches to balance agricultural productivity with conservation needs

Crisis as Catalyst: The Moral Origins of Collaborative Governance in Tourism Village

This study aims to explore how culturally rooted moral crises can trigger the emergence of collaborative governance in rural tourism development. While collaborative governance has become a normative approach in sustainable tourism, existing literature rarely examines how emotionally charged incidents catalyze stakeholder mobilization. This research investigates the case of Kaligono Village, Indonesia, where the misuse of a sacred waterfall provoked widespread moral outrage and initiated community-led governance transformation. Using a single embedded case study design, data were collected through 19 in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis over six months. The findings show that the moral crisis activated inclusive village deliberations, reasserted collective values, and fostered grassroots leadership. These dynamics evolved into a formalized collaborative governance regime featuring dual Pokdarwis (tourism groups), village regulations, enforceable SOPs, and multi-level partnerships. The study introduces the concept of crisis-led collaborative genesis, emphasizing the role of moral rupture in aligning stakeholders through shared cultural identity and emotional resonance. It concludes that in contexts of strong cultural cohesion, a crisis can serve as a disruption and a foundational moment for participatory and resilient governance. These insights offer practical implications for tourism planning in culturally embedded rural settings

The Indonesian government implemented a substantial change in building permit regulation through the transformation of the IMB (building permit) to PBG (building approval) as a result of the Omnibus Law on Job Creation Act. The policy reforms intend to increase investment and optimize the arrangement of buildings and environments to enhance disaster resilience and encourage sustainable development. During the implementation stage has resulted in several challenges such as lack of regulation and implementation guideline for district or city administrator, complexity of technical standard requirement for PBG, unclear technical recommendation letter from regional technical services, and insufficient PBG services related to human resources issues. This study aims to analyses the PBG implementation challenges experienced by the local government as well as the Indonesian community, to figure out the government's steps for tackling these public issues. Using multiple research methods including a literature review, a fishbone diagram, systems thinking, and SWOT analysis, this research finds the form of policy recommendation for effectively addressing the problems. This strategy includes intensive coordination with central government, in this case Kementerian PUPR, collaboration with licensing regional agencies, improvement support facilities to meet building standards, expanding monitoring of construction by enforcing penalties and strict sanctions, and setting up task force team to expedite the building permit approval, which could help boosting up local government income

Making organic fertilizer from manure waste using the role of worms can reduce pollution originating from manure waste. The more worms you cultivate, the greater the absorption of waste from the environment, so that environmental pollution resulting from piles of livestock manure can be reduced. Earthworms also have the ability to convert insoluble nutrients into soluble forms with the help of enzymes contained in the worm's digestion, so that they are absorbed more quickly by plants. The increasing development of animal husbandry provides opportunities for the development of organic fertilizer from manure on a wider scale. This not only has a positive effect on the environment but also opens up profitable business opportunities. The aim of this activity is to provide insight to breeders regarding the use of earthworms (Lumbricus rubellus) in converting manure waste into fertilizer, which can be used as fertilizer. organic in plant cultivation. The method used in this activity is to give a lecture about earthworms and fertilizer making, hold discussions and questions and answers, and practice fertilizer making activities. The impact obtained is an increase in farmers' knowledge regarding the role of earthworms in the fertilizer-making process or indirectly regarding the role of earthworms in animal husbandry

The province of Lampung is one that utilizes fish resources of up to 380,000 tons per year of the total fish stocks landed in existing fishing ports. One of them is the Lempasing Fishing Port Beach (PPP), which has a strategic location and directly borders the Gulf of Lampung. However, according to the annual report of PPP Lempasing from 2013 to 2022, landed catches tend to decrease every year. Therefore, it is necessary to make maximum use of fish resources. In this study, fish stocks were analyzed using the surplus production approach using the equilibrium state method, the Schaefer 1954 model, and the Fox 1970 model, and then the non-equilibrium state model, the Walter-Hilborn 1976 model, in one and two ways. From the results of the analysis it was found that the correct model for determining the level of utilization and catch status used the Walter-Hilborn model of the second way which has the second highest R2 value which reaches 80% and for the highest value of R2 obtained the model Walter- Hilbron one way reaches 95% but with the utilization rate of 313% this is less relevant because it does not correspond to the facts on the field, in this case the utilizing rate in PPP Lempasing according to the Walter -Hilborne model of second way reached 97% which means fully exploited recommended in utilizing the fish resources can refer to the value (YMSY) 713 tons/year, maximum catch effort (FMSY), of 1240 tons/ year, with the number of allowed catches (YJTB) of 571 trips/year in which each trip (UMSY) can catch as much as 0.58 catches. In this case, too, the catch effort can be increased, but by considering the value of the sustainable stock or fish stocks that exist at the depth of Be 727 ton
