Robust k-means pixel clustering via dominant pixel filtering

    No full text
Image smoothing is a fundamental operation in various image processing domains, including Remote Sensing, Photogrammetry, and Computer Vision, primarily aimed at simplifying image texture. It is frequently employed to limit fluctuations in local contrast within high-resolution imagery. A critical requirement for any smoothing algorithm is that it must be performed without sacrificing significant structural details, such as edges and corners. Conventional methods, such as the Bilateral filter, often introduce blurring artifacts or impose a substantial computational burden. This paper introduces the Dominant-Pixels based Mean Filter (DMF), a highly efficient method developed for detail-preserving image smoothing. The DMF exhibits a low computational burden and reduced algorithmic complexity compared to classical methods, rendering it computationally efficient. The methodology is based on a conditional mean calculation within a local window, where only pixels with intensities similar to the central pixel, as determined by a threshold, are included in the averaging operation. This mechanism effectively preserves local discontinuities that correspond to fine details. Furthermore, this paper investigates the potential of the DMF to enhance the performance of pixel-based image clustering algorithms. Analysis of the experimental results confirms that the DMF achieves statistically successful outcomes in image smoothing tasks

From Vision to Practice: Comparative Dynamics of Islamic Economics in Indonesia and Malaysia

    No full text
This paper aims to compare the development of Islamic economics in Indonesia and Malaysia, with emphasis on the banking sector as the core pillar. The study employs a descriptive-analytical method and a juridical-normative approach, analysing secondary data from official reports (OJK, Bank Negara Malaysia, IFSB), regulatory documents (Law No. 21/2008; Islamic Banking Act 1983; IFSA 2013), and peerreviewed literature (2010–2023). Findings show that Indonesia’s Islamic banking assets grew by 13% in 2021, supported by digitalisation and market-driven strategies, though financial literacy remains low (below 40%). Malaysia, by contrast, records a 30% share of Islamic banking assets nationally and dominates the global sukuk market, strengthened by comprehensive regulation and the Shariah Advisory Council. The results imply that Indonesia must enhance literacy and financial inclusion, while Malaysia should innovate further to sustain its global leadership. This study contributes comparative insights for policymakers on aligning regulatory frameworks with maqāṣid al-sharīʿah and strengthening cross-border collaboration

Effects of Different Application Routes of Ozone on Testicular Tissue in Rats with Spinal Cord Ischemia and Reperfusion Injury

    No full text
Background: Spinal cord ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) is a serious condition that can develop after spinal and thoracoabdominal surgeries or spinal cord traumas. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of different administration routes of ozone on testicular tissue in rats with spinal cord ischemia and reperfusion injury. Methods: Rats were divided into five groups (n:5): control (C), ischemia-reperfusion (IR), IR-rectal ozone (IR+RO), IR-intratechal ozone (IR+ITO), and IR-intraperitoneal (i.p) ozone (IR+IPO). Ozone-oxygen mixture was administered 30 minutes before midline laparotomy: 1 mg/kg (50 mu g/mL) by rectal insufflation to the IR+RO group, 20 mu L (20 mu g/mL) intratechally to the IR+ITO group, and 0.7 mu g/kg (50 mu g/mL) intraperitoneally to the IR+IPO group. The spinal cord IR model was established. The testicular tissue was collected for histopathological and biochemical analyses. Results: The Malondialdehyde (MDA) levels and Paraoxonase-1 (PON1) activities were significantly lower in the IR+RO, IR+ITO, and IR+IPO groups than in the IR group. Catalase (CAT) was significantly higher in the IR+ITO and IR+IPO groups than in the IR group. While the Cosentino score was significantly higher in the IR group than in the C group (p Conclusion: Ozone can regulate the negative effects of IRI by regulating cellular oxidative stress mechanisms. This effect can be achieved most effectively on testis tissue in the spinal cord IRI model through intrathecal and intraperitoneal administration
