Efficiency of minimized circuits of a heart roller pump on systemic inflammatory response syndrome and multiorgan effects in a rat model
Get PDFThe aim of this study is to com-pare the effects of tubing length on systemic inflamma-tory response syndrome and myocardial protection in a rat model of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) from a histologica standpoint. Methods: Twelve adult male Wistar Albino rats weighing >180 g were randomly selected and divided into 2 groups. In 1 group, the pump lines were kept 1 m shorter than stan-dard. The right jugular vein and tail artery were cannulated using a 16-gauge catheter. Animals received 500 IU/kg intra-venous heparin. Cardiac index and rectal temperature were set at 2.4 mL and 36°C, respectively. Total line volume was maintained at 8 mL. A roller pump was adjusted to supply a blood flow of 6 to 28 mL/min (mean 10 mL/min), simi-lar to the typical cardiac output of rats. CPB duration was 15 minutes throughout the experiment. After sacrifice, tissue samples were collected from heart, liver, and kidney for histomorphologic examination. Results: All histochemical and histomorphologic analy-ses, performed by 2 blinded researchers, revealed band loss incardiomyocytes, mononuclear (MNL) cell infiltration, and impaired fibrillar organization in the standard-line group. Additionally in that group, sinusoidal dilatation in the liver, low-level congestion, focal necrosis, and periportal MNL infiltration were noted. In the shorter-line group, on the other hand, MNL cell infiltration, band loss in myofibrils, and car-diomyocyte degeneration were rarely observed. Higher liver congestion and lower MNL cell infiltration were observed in the shorter-line group. No significant differences were found in kidney samples. Conclusion: In a shorter-line roller pump test model, less multiorgan damage and fewer systemic inflammatory responses were observed. It may be applicable to keep CPB lines as close to the table as possible, especially in pediatric cardiac surgery cases
A Different correlation matrix for factor analysis in categorical data: Goodman-Kruskal Lambda
Get PDFIntroduction: Factor analysis is frequently carried out with categorical data in the field of education and social sciences. Tetrachoric/polychoric correlation matrix is used in exploratory or confirmatory factor analysis performed with categorical data. However, it is stated in the literature that tetrachoric/polychoric correlations require large sample size.
Aim: The aim of this study is to investigate whether a Goodman-Kruskal Lambda correlation can be an alternative for exploratory factor analysis (EFA) performed with a tetrachoric/polychoric correlation matrix.
Method: This study is a Monte Carlo simulation. Simulation conditions; number of categories of indicators (2, 3, 4 and 5), average factor loading (0.40, 0.70), distribution of variables (left skewed, normal, right skewed) and sample size (100, 200, 500, 1000 and 5000). There are 4x2x3x5 = 120 simulation conditions. 100 replications were generated. EFA was carried out with the generated data sets. Principle axis was used for factor extraction method. Datasets have 20 indicators and they are unidimensional. Relastive bias (RB) values are considered as dependent variables.
Findings: As a result of the research, it was observed that as the number of categories increased, the Lambda correlation matrix was biased within acceptable limits (RB < |0.10|). In addition, it has been observed that Lambda correlations are acceptable bias in some conditions where polychoric correlation matrix cannot be calculated. It can be said that Lambda correlations tend to overestimate for factor loadings. According to the results of the research, it can be suggested to consider that lambda correlation can also be used in small samples, especially in which the polychoric correlation coefficient cannot be calculated

Aim: Aim of this paper is to provide a proposed framework for explaining the purchasing behavior in baby care products industry.
Method: A broad literature review has been executed and possible variables have been discussed thoroughly and with the help of Theory of Reasoned Action, conceptual model has been built. Anxiety and attitudes of health management students about accounting course: case of Ankara Hacı Bayram Velı Universıty
Get PDFÇoğunlukla sağlık yönetimi bölümü öğrencileri için zorunlu olan muhasebe dersi, öğrencilerin en fazla zorlandıkları dersler arasında sayılmaktadır. Dolayısıyla sağlık yönetimi öğrencilerinin muhasebe dersleriyle alakalı birtakım endişeleri bulunmaktadır. Öğrencilerin bu endişeleri onların muhasebe dersine ilişkin tutumlarını da etkileyebilmektedir. Muhasebe eğitimine dair endişe ve tutumlara yönelik akademik çalışmalara pek rastlanmazken istatistik, matematik, İngilizce, bilgisayar öğrenmede endişeleri ve buna yönelik tutumları ölçen çalışmalara rastlanmıştır. Çalışmanın amacı, elde edilen verilerle üniversite öğrencilerinin muhasebe dersine yönelik endişe ve tutumlarının incelenmesi; derse yönelik endişe ve tutumlarıyla çeşitli değişkenler arasında anlamlı bir farklılığın olup olmadığını ortaya koymaktır. Bu çerçevede, muhasebe dersine yönelik endişe ve tutum ifadelerinin yöneltildiği 60 adet anket sorusu Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli Üniversitesi Sağlık Yönetimi öğrencilerine sorulmuştur. Araştırma sonucunda katılımcıların muhasebe derslerine karşı endişelerini ortaya koyan ifadelere 2,98 (orta seviye) düzeyinde bir katılım sağladıkları belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca öğrencilerin tutumlarını ortaya koyan ifadelere 2,68’lik düzeyde (orta seviye) katılım sağladıkları tespit edilmiştir. Ek olarak katılımcıların muhasebe derslerine yönelik endişeleri ile tutumları arasında pozitif yönlü ve doğrusal bir ilişki bulunduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.Accounting course, which is mostly compulsory for the students of health management department, is considered as one of the most challenging courses for students. Therefore, healthcare management students have some concerns about accounting lessons. These concerns of the students may also affect their attitudes towards the accounting course. While academic studies on anxiety and attitudes about accounting education are not very common, there are studies that measures anxiety and attitudes towards statistics, mathematics, English, computer learning. The aim of the study is to examine the concerns and attitudes of university students towards the accounting course; to reveal whether there is a significant difference between various variables with their anxiety and attitudes towards the course. To do so, 60 questionnaire questions about anxiety and attitude statements regarding accounting lesson were asked to Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University Healthcare Management students. As a result of the research, it was determined that the participants expressed a level of 2.98 (intermediate level) participation in the statements expressing their concerns about accounting lessons. In addition, it was revealed that the students express their attitudes at the level of 2.68 (middle level). Finally, it was found that there was a positive and linear relationship between the participants’ anxieties and attitudes towards accounting courses
Using instagram as a public relations tool for cinema films: a case of Müslüm film

Diğer pek çok sektörde olduğu gibi sosyal medya, sinema sektörü için de vazgeçilmez bir tanıtım süreci unsuru haline gelmiştir. Dijital dünyanın her geçen gün farklılaşan olanakları, içerik üretimindeki farklı görsel kullanımları, hedef kitleyi zaman ve mekân sınırı olmadan yakalayabilmesi sinema filmlerinin tanıtımı açısından önemli avantajlar sağlamaktadır. Görsel paylaşıma dayalı bir sosyal medya platformu olması nedeni ile Instagram paylaşımlarını incelendiği bu çalışmada, bir halkla ilişkiler aracı olarak Instagram’ın sinema filmi tanıtımında kullanım pratikleri ortaya konmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu amaçla, 2018 yılında Türkiye’de en fazla izlenen sinema filmi olan Müslüm’ün resmi Instagram hesabı üzerinden ilk paylaşımın yapıldığı 3 Ocak 2018 tarihinden 3 Mart 2019 tarihine kadar yapılan 101 paylaşım betimsel analize tabi tutulmuştur. Araştırma sonunda Türkiye’de en fazla kullanılan sosyal medya platformlarından biri olan Instagram’ın sinema filmi tanıtımında diyalogsal halkla ilişkiler aracı olarak kullanımının sunduğu olanaklar ortaya konulmaktadır.With the developing technology and ease of access to the internet without time and space limitations, social media has become one of the most preferred public relations tools. As in many other sectors, social media has become an indispensable promotional process for the cinema sector. The differentiating possibilities of the digital world, the different visual uses in content production, and the ability to capture the target audience without time and space limit provide important advantages in terms of the promotion of cinema films. In this study, where Instagram shares are examined due to being a social media platform based on visual sharing, the practices of using Instagram as a public relations tool in the promotion of cinema films are tried to be revealed. For this study, thirty teachers were selected from the schools in İzmir by convenience sampling method. In this quasi-experimental study with a pre-test – intervention - post-test design, data was collected thorough Teaching Style Rating Scale (TSRS), Classroom Atmosphere Rating Scale (CARS) and Semi-structured Interview Form. According to the findings, the exprimental teachers performed better on problem solving, preventing misbehaviours, classroom management, and applying discipline. Children in in the experimental group were more positive, cooperative and adoptive rather than disruptive compared to control group’s children in the classroom atmosphere. Moreover the teachers expressed that they preferred more to use preventive and supportive approach rather than restrictive approach to cope with undesirable behaviors.selected from the schools in İzmir by convenience sampling method. Analysis of online marina news as a digital marketing tool

Televizyon, radyo, gazete, dergi gibi geleneksel medya araçları dijital pazarlamanın internet, mobil cihazlar ve uygulamalar, sosyal medya, kullanıcı tarafından yaratılan haber ağları, çevrim içi haber kanalları gibi araçlarının gerisinde kalmaktadır. Dijital pazarlama marinacılık sektöründe de etkin kullanılması gereken bir araç olmaya devam etmektedir. Çevrim içi haber kanalları sektörel haber oluşturma kaynakları arasında en üst sıralarda yer almakta olup, denizcilik alanında da yaygın olarak kullanılmaktadır. Araştırmanın konusunu oluşturan marinacılık sektörü ile ilgili haberlere yaygın olarak yer veren www.virahaber.com araştırmaya veri kaynağı olarak seçilmiştir. Genellikle ortak içeriğe sahip olan haber portalı ve eposta haberleri iki yıl zaman aralığında taranmış ve marinaların konu edildiği 102 habere ulaşılmıştır. İçeriğinde marina ve marinacılık bulunan haberler özenle incelenmiş, iki yazar tarafından dokuz ana 32 alt kod elde edilmiştir. Değerlendiriciler Arası Güvenilirlik (DAG) Cohen Kappa yaklaşımı ile değerlendirilmiş, Kappa Değeri %82,1 olarak ölçülmüştür. Taranan haberlerde en çok kullanılan marina haberi 13 haber ile fuara katılım olurken, 10 haberle eğlence haberleri ve sekiz haberle sportif yat yarışı haberleri takip etmektedir. İçerik analizinin sonucu, oluşturulmuş kavram haritaları ve sözcük bulutları üzerinden incelenmiştir.Digital marketing tools are developing rapidly in terms of both prevalence, effectiveness and diversity. Traditional media tools such as television, radio, newspapers and magazines fall behind the tools of digital marketing such as the internet, mobile devices and applications, social media, user-created news networks, online news channels. Digital marketing continues to be a tool that should be used effectively in the marina industry. Online news channels are among the top sources of sectoral news creation and are widely used in the maritime field. www.virahaber.com, which provides a wide range of news about the maritime industry, which is the subject of the study, was chosen as the data source for the research. The news portal and e-mail news, which generally have common content, were scanned in a period of two years and 102 news on marinas were reached. News covering marinas were carefully analyzed, nine main and 32 sub-codes were obtained by two authors. Inter-Coder Reliability (ICR) was evaluated via Cohen Kappa approach, and the kappa value was calculated as 82.1%. While the most used marina news in the scanned news is participation in the fair with 13 news, it is followed by entertainment news with 10 news and sports yacht race news with eight news. No full textGünümüzde teknolojinin hızla ilerlemesiyle birlikte medya da bu gelişime kayıtsız kalamamıştır. Dergi, gazete ve televizyon gibi kitle iletişim araçlarının yanına yeni medyayı temsil eden iletişim araçları da hızla eklenmektedir. İnteraktif iletişim özelliğini içinde barındıran söz konusu araçlar sayesinde, tüketicilerin daha aktif bir role sahip oldukları söylenebilir. Yeni iletişim ortamlarının oluşması sonrasında hikâye anlatımı da değişim yaşamaktadır. Hikâye anlatımındaki değişimler arasında “Transmedya hikâyeciliği” dikkat çekmektedir. Bu kavram yeni hikâye anlatma yöntemlerinden biridir. Trasmedya hikâyeciliği, çeşitli iletişim araçları yoluyla tüketiciyle etkileşim oluşturarak çift yönlü iletişime imkân tanımaktadır. Transmedya hikâye örnekleri son yıllarda giderek artmaktadır. İletişim alanında yaşanan gelişmeler sonucunda yeni sosyal ağların yaratılması transmedya hikâyeciliğine pozitif yönde katkı sağlamaktadır.

Among these irrevocable problems, though not yet at a level of colossal devastation, we have already begun to feel some of the impacts of global warming. With this urgency of action mind, the theme of the 4th International Applied Social Sciences Congress was “Applicable Knowlegde for A Sustainable Future”.
The conference was held between 22nd and 24th October, 2020, virtually due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with the partnerships of academics from Malta University, İzmir Kavram Vocational School, Aydın Adnan Menderes University (Faculty of Tourism), and Balıkesir University.
With the ever increasing internationalisation of the conference, the international participation in this congress reached its peak over the four consecutive years. There were 70 scientists from 20 different countries on the scientific board of the 4th C-IASOS Congress. Over 70 papers were presented by academics participating from 30 different countries in five continents. There were participants from as far places as Australia, Ecuador, South Africa, Pakistan and Mexico, and also from neighbouring countries, such as, Greece, Serbia, Georgia, and Azerbaijan
