    Synthesis of new trisubstituted hexahydro-isoindole-1,3-dione derivatives regio- and stereoselectivity: spectroscopic and theoretical studies

    2-Hydroxy-5-alkylhexahydro-4H-oxireno[2,3-e]isoindole-4,6(5H)-diones were synthesized, and their C-2 selective ring opening products were obtained through nucleophilic additions such as with MeOH. The methoxydiols obtained from the ring-opening reactions were converted to corresponding acetate derivatives. The structures of the methoxydiacetates were determined by H-1 and C-13 NMR and X-ray analyses. Furthermore, theoretical computations were carried out to explain the regioselectivity in the ring-opening reaction of epoxy alcohols. The theoretical calculations showed that the ring-opening reaction of epoxy alcohols proceeds in a thermodynamically controlled manner and regioselectivity occurs depending on the stability of the intermediate.[GRAPHICS

    Treatment of cervical cancer by electrochemotherapy with bleomycin, cisplatin, and calcium: an in vitro experimental study

    Low-dose chemotherapy in advanced stages of cancer does not give a positive response in treatment. The use of high-dose antineoplastic drugs creates significant side effects. The limiting situation in treatment creates a need for new generation drugs with less side effects and new treatment methods that will enable low-dose drug use. Electroporation (EP), a phenomenon, is a technique in which the membrane permeability is increased by the establishment of hydrophilic pores in the cell membrane with short and high-voltage electrical pulses. In the present investigation study, we aimed to inspect the effects of EP plus bleomycin, cisplatin, and calcium administration (CaEP) on cell viability, apoptotic activity, gene expression p53, Bax/Bcl-2 rate mitochondrial membrane potential (ΔΨm), and cell cycle in HeLa cervical cancer cell line. The permeabilization of the membrane was evaluated in flow cytometry with the PI method, and cell viability was measured in an ELISA reader with the WST-8 method. For bleomycin and cisplatin doses applied to HeLa cells, the concentration values (IC50) that inhibited 50% of the cells were found to be 214.11 ± 4.7 µM and 35.16 ± 3.3 µM, respectively. The IC50 values of the groups administered together with EP were calculated as 0.44 ± 0.3 µM for bleomycin and 20.55 ± 4.3 µM for cisplatin. There was no change in cell viability in calcium alone application, but a statistically notable reduction in cell vitality was observed in CaEP application. An increase in ΔΨm was found in bleomycin and CaEP exposure with EP. It was determined that EP exposure caused G0/G1 arrest in the cell cycle at all electric field intensities. It was determined that EP application in HeLa cells increased bleomycin cytotoxicity 487 times and cisplatin cytotoxicity 1.71 times, and CaEP could be an alternative treatment method. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature

    Synthesis, characterization, thermal, DFT study, antioxidant and antimicrobial in vitro investigations of indazole and its Ag(I) complex

    In this study, experimental and computational analyses were performed on free indazole and its silver metal complex. By using spectral methods, thermal studies, and analytical analysis, a new synthesized Ag(I) complex has been characterized. The geometric structures were optimized, structural parameters were calculated, and the chemical reactivity of the synthesized compound was investigated using the DFT calculations. Topological (AIM, RDG) investigations were done to look into molecular properties in order to learn more about the complex's attractive bonds and van der Waals interactions. The antioxidant activities of indazole and its silver metal complex were determined in vitro using the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) method. Ascorbic acid and BHT (butylatedhydroxytoluene) were used as the standard substances. As a result, it was determined that the antioxidant capacity of the indazole substance was higher than the Ag (I) complex. The antimicrobial activity of the Ag(I) complex against both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria was superior to that of the free ligand. The result analyses were supported by molecular docking approaches to explore the possible interaction of each compound with anti-microbial and antioxidant agents. © 2023 Elsevier Lt

    Does Patents on Environmental Technologies Matter for the Ecological Footprint in the USA? Evidence from the Novel Fourier ARDL Approach

    The outcome of patents on environmental (POET) technologies on the EF in the USA has not been comprehensively explored. Therefore, to close this breach in the literature, the present study discovers how patents on ecological technologies affect ecological footprint (EF) in the USA while regulatory for GDP and EC using the Fourier-based approaches. The conclusions of the present study reveal that POET are an important predictor of EF in the USA and cause a reduction in ecological deprivation in the long run; as expected, economic growth negatively affects environmental sustainability. The outcomes suggest that it is possible to resolve conflicts between the economy and the environment by using technological innovation. The USA government must reconsider its policy focus, particularly on coal energy sourcing and industrial energy, while continuing with heavy investments in its ambitious renewable energy technology development plan.     Carboxylate- and Sulfonate-Containing Quinazolin-4(3H)-one Rings: Synthesis, Characterization, and Carbonic Anhydrase I–II and Acetylcholinesterase Inhibition Properties

    Quinazolines are a group of bioactive heterocyclic compounds with a wide range of biological activities and have gained an important place in the design of active drugs with various targets due to their pharmacological properties. Carbonic anhydrase (CA) and acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitors are very important pharmacologically. In this study, inhibition effects of newly synthesized quinazolin-4(3H)-one derivatives on human erythrocyte CA-I (hCA-I) and CA-II (hCA-II) isoenzyme and AChE activity were investigated. The structures of the novel compounds were characterized by fourier-transform infrared (FTIR), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and high-resolution mass spectroscopy (HRMS). All molecules showed strong inhibitory effect in all three enzymes. 4-[(4-Oxo-2-(phenoxymethyl)quinazolin-3(4H)-ylimino)methyl]phenyl furan-2-carboxylate for hCA-I (IC50: 205 nM), 4-[(4-oxo-2-(phenoxymethyl)quinazolin-3(4H)-ylimino)methyl]phenyl isobutyrate for hCA-II (IC50: 209 nM), and 4-[(4-oxo-2-(phenoxymethyl)quinazolin-3(4H)-ylimino)methyl]phenyl propionate for AChE (IC50: 14.2 nM) were the molecules that showed the strongest inhibitory effect. Molecular docking studies were carried out to elucidate the possible interaction mechanism of the molecules in the active site of the enzymes. The affinity scores of the most active compounds for hCA-I, hCA-II, and AChE were determined as −134.765, −147.423, and −175.354 MolDock Score, respectively. © 2023 Wiley-VCH GmbH

    The Influence of the Coupling Effect of Physical-Mechanical Fields on the Forced Vibration of the Hydro-Piezoelectric System Consisting of A PZT Layer and A Viscous Fluid with Finite Depth

    The paper deals with the study of the mechanical time -harmonic forced vibration of the hydro -piezoelectric system consisting of the piezoelectric plate and compressible viscous fluid with finite depth. The exact equations of motion of the theory of linear electro-elasticity for piezoelectric materials are employed for describing the plate motion, however, the fluid flow is described by employing the linearized Navier-Stokes equations for a compressible (barotropic) viscous fluid. The plane -strain state in the plate and the plane flow of the fluid are considered and the corresponding mathematical problems are solved by employing the Fourier transform with respect to the space coordinate which is on the coordinate axis directed along the plate -lying direction. The expressions of the corresponding Fourier transform are determined analytically, however, the inverse transforms are found numerically. Numerical results on the interface pressure and the electrical potential are obtained for various PZT materials and these results are discussed. According to these results, in particular, it is established that the electromechanical coupling effect can significantly decrease the interface pressure

    The Effect Of Covıd-19 On Hba1c And Fastıng Blood Sugar Levels In Dıabetıc Patıents

    Korona virüsü (Covid-19) (Şiddetli Akut Hava Sendromu) tip II (SARS-2), 2019 yılında ortaya çıkmıştır ve tüm dünyaya yayılmıştır. Virüsün diyabetik hastalarda hayati fonksiyonları olumsuz yönde etkilediğini bildiren çalışmalar bulunmaktadır. Virüsün β- hücrelerini direk etkileyerek metabolizma bozukluklarına yol açması diyabetiklerde hastalığın daha ağır seyretmesine neden olabilir. Bu çalışma diyabetik hastalarda Korona virüsün HBA1C ve günlük açlık kan şeker düzeylerine etkisini incelemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Bu çalışma 1 Şubat 2022-1 Ağustos 2022 tarihleri arasında Irak’ın Ramadi ilinde bulunan bir karantina hastanesinde yürütülmüştür. Çalışmaya 54 kadın, 54 erkek olmak üzere 130 kişi dahil edilmiştir. Çalışma gruplarından 22 kişi diyabetik olmayan kontrol grubunu oluşturmaktadır. 108 kişi ise daha önce diyabet tanısı almış ve Covid-19 testi pozitif olan hastalar oluşturmaktadır. Hastalarda Covid-19 tedavisine başlamadan önce 1. Gün (GLU1) ve tedaviden sonra 2. ve 3. Gün (GLU2 ve GLU3) açlık kan glukoz düzeylerine bakıldı. Ayrıca tedaviye başlamadan önce (HbA1c 1) ve tedaviye başladıktan sonra 2 ay arayla 2 kere (HbA1c 2 ve HbA1c 3) HbA1c düzeyleri incelendi. Grup 2, Grup 3 ve Grup 4 ‘ün GLU ve HbA1c düzeylerini Kontrol grubu (CONT) (GRUP 1) ile karşılaştırdığımızda hem GLU hem de HbA1c düzeylerinin yüksek olduğu belirlenmiştir (Sırasıyla p<0,02, p<0,03). Grup 2’nin GLU 1, GLU 2, GLU 3 ve HbA1c 1, HbA1c 2, HbA1c 3 düzeylerinin sırayla 214,63 ± 100,28, 166,58 ± 50.70, 134,10 ± 35.51 ve 10.10 ± 0.21, 8.30 ± 0.29, 6.80 ± 0.31 olduğu belirlenmiştir ve tedavi sonrası ölçülen GLU 2, GLU 3 ve HbA1c 2, HbA1c 3’te azalma olduğu görülmüştür. Grup 3’ün GLU 1, GLU 2, GLU 3 ve HbA1c 1, HbA1c 2, HbA1c 3 düzeylerinin sırayla 175.80 ± 60.38, 215.10 ± 95.73, 268.40 ± 135.51 ve 7.60 ± 0.33, 9.60 ± 0.23, 12.20 ± 0.21 olduğu belirlenmiştir. Bu gruptaki hastaların tedavi sonrası ölçülen GLU 2, GLU 3 ve HbA1c 2, HbA1c 3 düzeylerinde ise artış olduğu görülmüştür. Grup 4’ün GLU 1, GLU 2, GLU 3 ve HbA1c 1, HbA1c 2, HbA1c 3 düzeylerinin sırayla 179.0 ± 62.18, 238.10 ± 115.43, 192.0 ± 86.91 ve 7.90 ± 0.31, 10.70 ± 0.20, 8.70 ± 0.31 olduğu belirlenmiştir. Grup 4 hastalarının tedavi sonrası ölçülen GLU 2, GLU 3 ve HbA1c 2, HbA1c 3 düzeylerinin tedavi öncesine göre yüksek ve sabit olmadığı görülmüştür. Çalışmamız sonuçlarına göre 108 diyabet hastasının 28’inin (Grup 2) tedaviye cevap verdiği ve kan glukoz düzeylerinde azalma olduğu görülmüştür. Hastalardan 28’inin (Grup 3) tedaviye rağmen kan glukoz düzeylerinde artış olduğu belirlenmiştir. 52 hastanın ise (Grup 4) kan glukoz düzeylerinin yüksek ve düzensiz olduğu görülmüştür. Bu sonuçlar bize diyabetik hastaların büyük çoğunluğunda Covid-19 geçirdikten sonra kan glukoz düzeylerinin daha fazla artabileceğini göstermektedir

    Bazı Kinantropometrik İndekslerin Özel Yetenek Sınav Parkur Puanları İle İlişkilerinin İncelenmesi

    Bu çalışmanın amacı, bazı kinantropometrik indeksler ile özel yetenek sınavı parkur puanları arasındaki ilişkileri incelemektir. Bu kapsamda erkek sporcularda üst ekstremite uzunluğu, alt ekstremite uzunluğu, ön kol uzunluğu, üst kol uzunluğu, biacrominal genişlik, bicristal genişlik, göğüs çevresi, oturma yüksekliği alt bacak uzunluğu, uyluk uzunlukları incelenmiştir. Bu antropometrik parametreler günlük yaşam aktivitelerinde birçok fonksiyonu yerine getirmekle birlikte spor branşlarında sporcuların performansını önemli derecede etkileyen parametrelerdir. Spor etkinliklerinde alt ve üst ekstremitelerin çeşitli şekillerde sporcu performansına etkisi farklılık göstermektedir. Yaptığımız literatür çalışmasında erkek sporcuların; üst ekstremite uzunluk değerleri ortalama 77,67±4,06 cm; alt ekstremite uzunluk değerleri ortalama 96,79 ±13,52 cm; ön kol uzunluk değeri ortalama 26,83±2,07 cm; üst kol uzunluk değerleri ortalama 34,77±3,27 cm; biacrominal genişlik değeri ortalama olarak 37,71±5,68 cm; bicristal genişlik değeri ortalama 27,95±2,07cm; göğüs çevre genişlik değeri ortalama 95,60±4,07 cm; oturma yükseklik değeri ortalama 97,26±14,97 cm; alt bacak uzunluk değeri ortalama olarak 42,35±4,98 cm ve uyluk uzunluk değerleri ortalama 44,72±3,23 cm olarak tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak, araştırmaya katılan özel yetenek sınavına başvuran erkek adayların tüm değişkenleri arasında anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmamıştır (p>0,05). Bu sonucun adayların antropometrik yapıları, fiziksel, fizyolojik ve spor geçmişi gibi faktörlerden kaynaklandığı düşünülmektedir

    The effects of the use of lactobacillus plantarum in wheat produced silage on silage quality and fermentation

    Bu tez çalışması buğday yem bitkisinden elde edilen silajlara Lactobacillus plantarum (LP) inokülasyonunun silaj kalitesi, fermantasyon, aerobik stabilite ve mikroorganizma gelişimi üzerine etkilerinin belirlenmesi amacıyla yürütülmüştür. Araştırma grupları buğday kontrol (KB), buğday+Lactobacillus plantarum 106 kob/g (LP6B), buğday+ Lactobacillus plantarum 108 kob/g (LP8B), buğday+ Lactobacillus plantarum 109 kob/g (LP9B) şeklinde oluşturulmuştur. Lactobacillus plantarum laktik asit bakterisi silajlara 1x106, 1x108 ve 1x109 kob/g oranında ilave edilmiştir. Araştırma grupları 4 grup, 5 tekerrür olmak üzere toplamda 20 adet silaj ile oluşturulmuştur. Hazırlanan silajlar laboratuvar ortamında 23 ± 2 ºC'de 90 gün boyunca muhafaza edilmiştir. Silolama döneminin sonunda açılan silajlara kimyasal, fiziksel ve mikrobiyolojik analizleri yapılmıştır. Silajların açımı tamamlandığında 5 günlük aerobik stabilite testine tabi tutulmuştur. Çalışma sonuçlarının analiz verilerine bakıldığında, Lactobacillus plantarum laktik asit bakterisinin kullanımı lactobacilli yoğunluğunda istenilen düzeyde artış sağlamadığını, maya ve küf oluşumunu engellediğini ve pH değerlerinin düşmesini sağlayarak istenilmeyen mikroorganizma oluşumunu baskıladığını gözlemlenmiştir.This thesis was carried out to determine the effects of Lactobacillus plantarum (LP) inoculation into silages obtained from wheat forage plants on silage quality, fermentation, aerobic stability and microorganism growth. Research groups were formed as wheat control (KB), wheat+Lactobacillus plantarum 106 cfu/g (LP6B), wheat+ Lactobacillus plantarum 108 cfu/g (LP8B), wheat+ Lactobacillus plantarum 109 cfu/g (LP9B). Lactobacillus plantarum lactic acid bacteria were added to the silages at the rate of 1x106, 1x108 and 1x109 cfu/g. The research groups were formed with a total of 20 silages, 4 groups and 5 replications. The prepared silages were stored in a laboratory environment at 23 ± 2 ºC for 90 days. Chemical, physical and microbiological analyzes were made on the silages opened at the end of the ensiling period. When the silages were opened, they were subjected to a 5-day aerobic stability test. Looking at the analysis data of the study results, it was observed that the use of Lactobacillus plantarum lactic acid bacteria did not increase the lactobacilli density at the desired level, prevented the formation of yeast and mold, and suppressed the formation of unwanted microorganisms by reducing the pH values

    "Abdal" kelimesi tarihsel süreçte o kadar çok anlam değiştirmiş ki kimi zaman Anadolu tarihini değiştiren, kimi zaman derviş, kimi zaman budala, kimi zaman garip, kimi zaman da bülbül olmuş. "Abdala malum olur" atasözü ile "Abdal ata binince bey oldum sanır, şalgam aşa girince yağ oldum sanır" atasözüne bakıldığında bile bu anlam farkını anlamak mümkün olacaktır. Türk tarihinde önemli bir yer tutan abdalların bugünkü yaşantısına bakıldığında ise bir statü kaybı yaşadıkları ve yalnızlaşmış oldukları, yaptıkları müzik ile hayatta kalma mücadelesi verdikleri gözlemlenmektedir. Hatta saz ve sözdeki başarıları bu yalnızlaşmanın bir mirasıdır. Çünkü abdallar, içinde bulundukları durumu saz ve sözleriyle dışa aktarmışlardır. Sanatsal bu yetenekleri sayesinde, yaşadıkları şehrin, 2019 yılında Unesco Yaratıcı Şehirler Ağı'na müzik alanında Türkiye'den dahil olan ilk şehir olmasında başrol oynamışlardır. Somut olmayan kültürel miras il envanterinde kayıt altına alınan Abdallar, ulusal boyutta bile yeteri kadar tanınırlığı olmayan Kırşehir'e, bir anda uluslararası alanda önemli bir statü kazandırmışlardır. Bu sayede şehrin sürdürülebilir gelişiminde en önemli rolü, yaptıkları müzik ile Abdallar üstlenmiştir. Bu çalışmanın amacı; geçmişten günümüze yaşanan toplumsal ve kültürel değişimin ulusal ve uluslararası müzikal üne sahip, Somut Olmayan Kültürel Miras unsuru olan Abdallar üzerindeki etkisini, yaptıkları müziği devam ettirme çabasını, verdikleri yaşam mücadelesini, var olan projelerle yaşam kalitelerinin nasıl güçlendirilebileceğini ortaya koyabilmek ve yetkililerden beklentilerini tespit edebilmektir. Bu doğrultuda abdalların sosyo-ekonomik durumunu ortaya koyan çeşitli haberler incelenmiştir. Nitel veri analizi kapsamında 20 abdal ile derinlemesine mülakat gerçekleştirilmiştir. Nicel veri analizi kapsamında ise 84 abdal üzerinde yaşam standartları hakkında araştırma anketi uygulanmıştır. Araştırmaların sonucu elde edilen veriler üzerinden çeşitli önerilerde bulunulmuştur.The word "Abdal" has changed many meanings in the historical process. Even their success in saz and vocals is a legacy of this isolation. Because the abdals expressed their situation with their instruments and words.Thanks to these artistic talents, they played a leading role in making Kırşehir the first city from Türkiye to be included in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in 2019 in the field of music. Abdals, who were recorded in the intangible cultural heritage provincial inventory, suddenly gave Kırşehir an important status in the international arena, which was not sufficiently recognized even at the national level. In this way, Abdals played the most important role in the sustainable development of the city with their music. The aim of this study, is to reveal the impact of the social and cultural change from the past to the present on the Abdals, who have a national and international musical reputation and are an Intangible Cultural Heritage element, their efforts to continue their music, their quality of life can be strengtened with existing projects and to determine their expectations from the authorities. In this direction, various news revealing the socio-economic status of the abdals were examined. Within the scope of qualitative data analysis, in-depth interviews were conducted with 20 abdal. Within the scope of quantitative data analysis, a research questionnaire on living standards was applied to 84 abdal.
