Application of artificial intelligence in higher education institutions for developing soft skills of future specialists in the sphere of information technology
Get PDFThis paper aims to delineate the significant role of artificial intelligence (AI) in developing the soft skills of future information technology (IT) professionals. To achieve this goal, the authors give some relevant considerations concerning using AI in teaching humanitarian subjects and explore the use of AI to develop soft skills essential for future IT professionals. First, the analysis of the survey results confirms that students are not aware that using AI in education is very helpful. That is why many students (51.8%) do not use them at all. Therefore, we have an intention to give the examples of the use of AI tools for educational purposes to equip students, first of all, with understanding of soft skills value, and, secondly, let them complete the tasks that contribute to the development and improvement of their soft skills. Second, we defined that the soft skills (communication, negotiation, problem-solving, finding a common language with colleagues and clients, public speaking, and intercultural) are essential for conducting professional communication with colleagues in the sphere of IT to satisfy the demands of the IT industry in the modern-day world. Third, the paper contributes scientifically to investigating the integration of AI technologies in the university-level educational landscape. Integrating AI in higher education institutions offers a promising route for developing or boosting the soft skills necessary for future specialists in the field of IT. Drawing on a comprehensive review of literature focusing on the use of AI technologies in the contemporary world and considering the empirical data from the online survey, the study investigates the opportunities of AI tools to foster soft skills required to achieve the active collaboration of IT employees for companies

Get PDFThe basis of teaching geography is the process of forming scientific geographical concepts in students. Concepts are the basis of geographical knowledge. The process of their formation has a number of peculiarities that need to be taken into account in teaching geography.
The most important of these features is that concepts cannot be learnt only by memorising their definitions. A concept and its definition are fundamentally different things. In teaching geography, it is important, first of all, to ensure active cognitive activity of students and not to limit oneself to memorising verbal formulations and definitions of concepts. It is important to remember that the cognitive activity of students is always aimed at transforming the subject and is based on various sources of knowledge.
The second feature of concept formation is due to the fact that scientific concepts are a system in which some concepts are related to others. It is known that in geographical science and the system of school geography corresponding to it there is a system of fundamental, most general concepts (categories) that are interconnected and constitute the «language» of geography. These include, for example, «natural-territorial complex», «geographical shell», «component of nature», etc.
The third feature of the formation of geographical concepts is that they are not learned immediately, not at one moment, but gradually, step by step as the geographical content is studied and only in the process of logical linguistic thinking. Method for early ignition detection based on the sampling dispersion of dangerous parameter
Get PDFThe object of the study is the selective dispersion of dangerous parameters of the gas environment during material fires. The practical importance of research consists in using the difference of sample dispersions of dangerous parameters of the gas environment on the intervals of absence and presence of ignition of materials for detection of ignition. The theoretical substantiation of the method of detecting fires in premises based on sample dispersions of current measurements of an arbitrary dangerous parameter of the gas environment, corresponding to the general populations of reliable absence and presence of fire, has been carried out. The method, at a given level of significance, determines the unbiased uniformly most powerful fire detection rule. This makes it possible to determine how much differences in sample variances are significant with a given level of significance and are caused by ignition or are random factors. Laboratory experiments were conducted to verify the proposed method. It was established that the influence of ignition on the value of the difference in the sample dispersion at the corresponding intervals of monitoring the carbon monoxide concentration, smoke density, and temperature of the gaseous environment of the laboratory chamber is different and depends on the type of ignition material. At the same time, the minimum difference of the sample dispersions is characteristic for observing the smoke density for all the studied materials. However, early detection of ignition of alcohol, paper, wood, and textiles when observing the smoke density is carried out when the threshold is exceeded by 9.01, 5.31, 2.13 and 2.55 times, respectively. It is shown that the method of early detection of fires, which is based on the detection of significant differences in sample dispersions of data from the relevant general population
Методичні аспекти відображення історії географічних відкриттів у сучасній культурі
Get PDFУ статті розглядається вплив історії географічних відкриттів на сучасну культуру (на прикладі відкриття Північної Америки вікінгами) і методика застосування відповідних мистецьких творів в шкільному курсі географії. Наведено приклади відображення історії подорожей вікінгів та їх взаємодії з індіанцями у численних творах художньої літератури, кінематографу, музиці та ін. Методику виявлення впливу подорожей вікінгів на етимологію географічних назв наведено на прикладі о. Гренландія. Проаналізовано географічні локації наявних в Америці пам’ятників вікінгам та причини їх встановлення. Зазначено особливості проведення національного свята у США «День Лейфа Еріксона». Відображення відкриття Америки вікінгами у сучасній музичній культурі наведено на прикладі музичних альбомів і окремих пісень (пісня «Immigrant Song» Рок-групи Led Zeppelin; концептуальні альбоми «Vinland Saga» і «Legend Land» рок групи Leaves’ Eyes; концептуального альбому «Sagas оf Iceland» рок групи Rebaelliun). До кожного прикладу запропоновано відповідні завдання. Відображення взаємодії вікінгів і індіанців розглянуто на прикладі художніх фільмів «Норман» 1978 р., «Слідопит» 2007 р. Наведено напрямки їх обговорення і відповідні завдання для учнів на підставі аналізу цих фільмів. Особливу увагу приділено виявленню полярної зміни зображення у фільмах індіанців і вікінгів. У статті наведено приклади творів художньої літератури з відображенням історії відкриття Америки вікінгами, а також більш детально розглянуто вплив цих подій на створення фантастичного роману Г. Гаррісона «Машина часу «Техніколор» або «Фантастична сага». Застосування нестандартних засобів навчання не лише демонструють відображення історично-географічних фактів у сучасній культурі, але й показують зв'язок географії з повсякденним життям, з захопленнями та розвагами людини, виявляють практичне значення географічних знань
