Research problem. The analysis of competitive performance indicators is usually done during the season, but by analyzing the team's performance over many seasons, it is possible to determine the development of changes and the impact on the team's style of play. Aim. To determine and evaluate the change of the most important championship indicators of the Lithuanian men 's basketball team in the research period 2003-2021. Objectives: 1. To determine and evaluate the change of quantitative indicators of the most important championships of the Lithuanian men's basketball team; 2. To determine and evaluate the change in the quality indicators. Hypothesis. With the introduction of the new rules of the game, the performance of the competition should change due to the accelerating basketball, the number of ball possessions should increase, and therefore the number of throws and rebounds. Research methods. The Lithuanian national basketball national team match (n=78) in the period 2003-2021 (11 tournaments) was used for the analysis. The method of statistical analysis was used to determine the arithmetic mean, standard deviation (), significance level of mean differences (p <0.05) using the MS Excel statistical package (TTEST function). Main findings. The number of points scored by the Lithuanian men's team in the match ranged from 73.0 ± 8.1 (2013) to 90.7 ± 8.4 points (2003). The number and accuracy of throws in the basket (two-point and three-point) did not change significantly. The steals taken by the Lithuanian national team fluctuated greatly, from 3.6 to 10.2 balls per game, which is a relatively low rate compared to other men's national teams. The team makes an average of about 11-13 turnovers per game, except for the 2005 (5th place), when the team made an average of 16.8 ± 3.4 turnovers. The assists changed insignificantly, ranging from 17 to 20 passes per game. Comparing the statistical indicators of the Lithuanian national team - European champions (2003) and 2021 selection for the Olympic Games, it was found that this year's National team earned less points from the free throw line and collected fewer personal fouls (p <0.05). Conclusions. The indicators of the competitive activity of the Lithuanian men's basketball team have not changed significantly for almost 20 years. The lower results of the national team may have been influenced by the lower activity of the players in the offense and defense, which may have been influenced by the change of players and coaches, new features of the organization of the competition

    No full text
Background Physical fitness status is a key aspect of health and, consequently, it is important to create and adopt appropriate interventions to maintain or improve it, and assess it using valid measures. While in other testing contexts, standard operating procedures (SOPs) are commonly and widely adopted, in physical fitness testing, a variety of unstandardized testing protocols are proposed. Aims The topic of this review was to evaluate the existing literature on SOPs in physical fitness assessment and to provide guidelines on how SOPs could be created and adopted. Method The electronic databases PubMed, Web of Science and Scopus were screened and original, peer-reviewed studies that included SOPs, related to physical fitness, were recorded. Results After the inclusion and exclusion criteria screening, a total of six studies were included and these were critically and narratively analyzed. Conclusions Standard operating procedures are rarely adopted in the field of physical fitness and a step by step guide has been provided in this manuscript. In the future, it is suggested to follow protocols as a routine, because this is the only way to generalize and contextualize findings

Every parasport is currently encouraged to consider evidence-based classification to develop their respective classification system. Therefore, the aims of this study were to: (1) assess the relationship between trunk function and anaerobic power determining proficiency in wheelchair basketball, and (2) define “natural classes” in wheelchair basketball based on anaerobic power. Fifty-nine elite players (representing five national teams) were divided into four main functional classes: Group 1 (n=17), Group 2 (n=14), Group 3 (n=16), Group 4 (n=12). They performed the 6x10s Anaerobic Power Test using an arm crank ergometer. Average values of mean power, peak power, relative mean power, relative peak power, and power decrement were calculated for the 6x10s and 3x10s tests. The Spearman’s correlation matrix revealed significant correlations between classes and values recorded in the 6x10s test. This confirmation between anaerobic power and players’ classification endorses the division of players into different classes. Furthermore, cluster analysis (with fair quality) divided players into two “natural classes”. The first resulting class was mainly formed of participants from Group 1 (71%). An important complement to this research could be to consider wheelchair acceleration and the volume of trunk action in wheelchair basketball classification

The aim of the study was to determine the change in cognitive functions using a physiotherapy program that uses virtual reality in children with developmental disorders. Tasks: 1. To identify and assess perceptions before and after participation in a 5-week physiotherapy program that uses virtual reality . 2. Identify and evaluate memory and visual memory before and after 5 weeks of physiotherapy programs that uses virtual reality . 3. To determine and evaluate attention and persistence of attention before and after participating in a 5-week physiotherapy program that uses virtual reality . 4. To analyse the indicators of cognitive functions by gender and age. A scientific problem. Body motion sensor technologies such as Microsoft Kinect provide innovative and advanced ways to foster child development. For children with developmental disabilities, this technology provides an additional stimulus to develop abilities and cognitive functions. A particular advantage of using virtual reality and computer games for cognitive therapy in children with developmental disabilities is that they do not require social skills. In contrast to the traditional social environment, virtual reality and computer cognitive therapy can provide a rapid, predictable, and repeatable response (Si-nae Ahn, 2021). Hypothesis. The physiotherapy program that uses virtual reality has a positive effect on the cognitive functions of children with developmental disabilities. Research methods. Bronislava Grigaitė's "Tasks of Cognitive Child Development Research" method were used. 1) Perception. The aim of the task is to determine the peculiarities of the subjects' perception by choosing colours or shapes. 2) Memory. The aim of the task is to find out the ability of the subjects to hear and remember the instruction, to coordinate the actions according to the instruction. 3) Visual memory. The aim of the task is to determine the peculiarities of children's visual memory. 4) Attention. The purpose of this test is to determine the level of concentration, the development of voluntary attention. 5) Persistence of attention. Identifies the characteristics of the persistence of attention during long monotonous work. Research results. Summarizing the results of the study, it can be stated that the cognitive functions of children with developmental disorders have improved, so Microsoft Kinect can be used to improve perception, memory, visual memory, attention and endurance of attention. Conclusions. 1. The perception of developmentally impaired subjects improved after participation in a five-week physiotherapy program using virtual reality, but no statistically significant change was observed. 2. Subjects' memory improved, and visual memory improved statistically significantly after participating in a physiotherapy program using virtual reality. 3. After participating in a five-week physiotherapy program using virtual reality, subjects performed significantly better on the focus research tasks. Their attention and persistence of attention improved statistically significantly. 4. Analysis of cognitive function indicators by gender showed that boys' memory also improved significantly after participating in physiotherapy activities using virtual reality. Visual memory and attention improved statistically significantly in both the group of girls and boys. Analysing cognitive functions by age, attention was found to improve statistically significantly in 15–17-year-old subjects. The other indicators did not differ significantly
