Lifestyle characteristics and health literacy characteristics of self-exercising women and women training according to exercise plans prepared by sports club instructors.
Problem. Health literacy is directly and indirectly related to various health outcomes. The World Health Organization (WHO) Global Strategy for Digital Health states that digital health should be an integral part of health priorities and benefit people in an ethical, safe, reliable, equitable and sustainable manner. In addition, the digital transformation of healthcare has been shown to improve health outcomes through improvements in: medical diagnosis, data-driven treatment decisions, digital therapy, clinical research, self-monitoring and person-centered care. One of the hallmarks of health literacy is awareness of physical activity, and the health benefits of regular physical activity include: lower risk of being overweight, improved cognitive function, reduced risk of dementia, and reduced risk of cancer at various sites. However, many women exercise for better body shapes and what others think of them. This is due to the lack of research on health literacy and health literacy. The aim: To determine the characteristics of health literacy of women who exercise independently and women who train according to exercise plans prepared by sports club instructors. Tasks: 1. To determine the health literacy characteristics of women who exercise independently. 2. To determine the health literacy characteristics of women training according to exercise plans prepared by sports club instructors. 3. To compare the differences in literacy characteristics of women who exercise independently and women who train according to exercise plans prepared by sports club instructors. Methods. The research used an online survey method. The questionnaire consisted of the abbreviated European Health Literacy Questionnaire HLS-EU-Q16, which consists of 16 questions from the HLS-EU-Q47. General health literacy was assessed. Subjects: 31 women exercising independently and 30 women exercising according to exercise plans prepared by gym instructors. Result and conclusions. The study revealed that there are certain differences between the study groups. 1. Self-exercising women have a sufficiently high level of health literacy, more than 50% of them answered questions assessing health literacy answers that her finds and understands information easily. 2. The level of health literacy of women training according to the exercise plans provided by sports club instructors can also be assessed as good - their answers to questions assessing health literacy do not differ much from the answers of women exercising independently. 3. Self-exercising women are able to understand and find information about health literacy presented to them more easily than women training according to the plans drawn up by sports club instructors, because the situation/circumstances of self-exercising women require a deeper understanding of the necessary and significant information for this activity, which leads to better health literacy
Parents’ opinion on the effects of aquatic physiotherapy on delayed motor development in infants.
Background. Aquatic therapy is commonly utilized in the rehabilitation of children with developmental disabilities and as a form of physical activity in water for children without developmental disabilities. Aim. To analyze parents’ opinions regarding the impact of physiotherapy in water on the delayed motor development of babies aged 2–9 months. Methods. Ten parents whose babies were diagnosed with motor developmental disorders and received aquatic physical therapy for motor developmental delay were interviewed during the study. A semi-structured interview comprising 18 questions was employed in the qualitative study. Results. The study revealed that parents often notice developmental disorders in their babies when they fail to achieve age-appropriate milestones, leading to later diagnosis by doctors. Following the diagnosis of motor development disorders, doctors recommended various treatment methods to the participants. While parents primarily selected physiotherapy as the main treatment method, they also opted for aquatic physiotherapy as an additional approach for enhanced effectiveness. The Halliwick method was commonly employed to address motor development disorders. Almost all participants expressed willingness to recommend aquatic physiotherapy to friends or acquaintances if their children were diagnosed with motor development disorders. Conclusions. Parents emphasized that water physiotherapy improved their babies’ motor skills and had a calming and relaxing effect. Most interviewees indicated a positive inclination towards recommending aquatic physiotherapy, considering it an effective intervention

Factors shaping a coach's career in a fitness club.
Relevance of the Topic: The human factor plays a crucial role in today's management, not only in achieving the organisation’s objectives, but also in competing fiercely with competitors. Sports and wellness cubes understand that they need to work in partnership with their employees to achieve success (Cetin, 2020). Current innovation developments are trying to be service-oriented. And also on the service providers who are directly involved in the process of delivering the services. Sport has a strong socially responsible, community-embedded nature, the importance of which has grown within and beyond the sport sphere. This explains the increasing number of corporations that consider sport organisations, events or athletes as appropriate tools to fulfil their social and commercial objectives (Walzel, Robertson, & Anagnostopoulos, 2018). Sport and health clubs are responsible for the development of sport in their countries and the structural arrangements that facilitate the effectiveness of knowledge creation and sharing. A key factor in career success is adaptability. Career adaptability refers to an individual's ability to navigate and adapt to changes and challenges along the career path (Wu & et all., 2022). In a changing world, the sport sector needs employees who express their ideas and respond to external demands (Cetin, 2020). Research Question: What factors shape a coach's career? Objective: Identify the factors that shape a coach's career in a fitness clubs. Research Tasks: 1. Discuss the career of an employee and the factors determining it. 2. Determine the coach's attitude towards career management. 3. Reveal the factors influencing the formation of a coach's career. Research Object: Factors shaping a coach's career. Subjects: Trainers working in health and fitness clubs. 6 sports coaches (2 women and 4 men) participated in the study. The interview sample was a criterion-based, convenience sample, i.e. employees who had been working as a coach in a sports and health club for at least six months were selected. Research Method: Analysis of scientific literature, interviews, qualitative content analysis. Data collection, analysis and synthesis are carried out using research methods appropriate to this type of research - interviews for data collection and qualitative content analysis for data processing. The interviews are conducted according to pre-developed interview guidelines developed on the basis of the advice of H.J. Rubin and I.S. Rubin (2011) (Vveinhardt & Fominiene, 2021). The interview guidelines consist of an introductory, main and a concluding part. Research Conclusions: 1. Career, defined as an individually perceived sequence of attitudes and behaviors related to work-related experiences and activities over the course of a person's lifetime, can be determined by both personal and organisational factors. In a personal career, the individual is free to choose his or her career direction, but in an organisational career he or she has to adapt to the wishes of the organisation. 2. Coaches feel responsible for managing their own careers, but the organisation becomes an important context to help them achieve their career goals and develop. This shows that while the individual employee has an important role to play in shaping his or her own career, the organisation also has an influence by providing resources and opportunities for professional development and growth. A successful interaction between the coach's personal aspirations and the organisation's support is essential for a successful and influential coaching career. 3. A coach's career is directly dependent on several important factors. These include the ability to communicate effectively with clients, the desire to continuously develop as a person and as a professional, and an understanding of the governance of the organisation in which the coach works. It is also important to remember that successfully dealing with challenges is also essential. These factors are essential to achieve and maintain a successful coaching career
The relationship between the state of subjectively assessed fatigue and the change in indicators of the functional state of the cardiovascular system during intense repeated exercises.
Perceived fatigue occurs as a result of afferent information from the CNS, CVS, skeletal muscle and lungs. The aim of the study is to determine whether there is a relationship between the change in the functional state of the heart rate and subjective fatigue state estimates during intense repeated loads. Hypothesis: there is a strong correlation between the change in the indicators of the functional state of the heart and the estimates of the subjective state of fatigue during high-intensity physical exertion. The objectives of the study: to determine the characteristics of changes in subjectively perceived fatigue, HR and BP indicators when repeated physical loads of (1)dosed intensity and (2)high intensity are performed in health-enhancing exercises, and (3)to determine wheter the change in subjectively perceived fatigue estimates has a correlation with the change in HR and BP indicators. Eleven men of age 18-35 participated in the study. Two studies were conducted: I – Ruffier test load, during which subjects performed a relatively light dosed load task; II – high-intensity interval training. During both studies, before, during and after exercise, estimates of subjectively perceived fatigue (Borg scale), ECG and BP indicators were recorded. The results showed that statistically significant correlations of the highest degree (p<0,05) were observed between Borg scale estimates and BP pulse values (r=0,75±0,2) during jump sets, between systolic BP – moderate (r=0.52±0,2) statistically significant (p<0.05) correlation, between diastolic BP – statistically signififcant (p<0.05) average inverse correlation (r= -0.66±0,2). Conclusion: during intense repeated exercise, the subjective state of fatigue is most strongly influenced by changes in pulsatile and diastolic BP, which are determined by the changing state of peripheral blood vessel during exercise
Identifying the peculiarities of students’ aggressive behaviour in physical education lessons /
Background. Recently, a lot of special attention has been paid to the school environment where students’ aggressive behaviour that spreads quickly is getting more expressed and reflects processes in the modern society and their consequences for the young generation. It can often have various short- and long-term consequences for a student’s behaviour, communication with others, emotional state or his/her self-esteem. Thus, this complex situation encourages to get interested in understanding the underlying causes of students’ aggressive behaviour and peculiarities of its frequent manifestation. Objectives. The study aimed to reveal the peculiarities of students’ aggressive behaviour expression in physical education lessons in the context of age and gender aspects. Material and methods. A total of 197 students participated in the study, comprising 52 girls aged 12-13 years, 44 boys of the same age group, 60 girls aged 14-15 years and 41 boys of the same age. Results. The findings of the study indicated that 14-15-year-old students were more prone to the following forms of aggressive behaviour in physical education lessons: negativism, offence, irritation, physical and verbal aggression compared with 12-13-year-old students. It was also determined that older students demonstrated statistically significant higher levels of hostility and aggressiveness than younger counterparts. When analysing the students’ aggressive behaviour in the aspect of gender, it was found that boys often expressed the following forms of aggressive behaviour: negativism, offence, irritation and physical aggression; meanwhile, girls were more prone to the feeling guilty and verbal aggression. Higher hostility is more characteristic to boys than to girls, but the aggressiveness observed in the groups of boys and girls was assessed similarly according to the aggressiveness index. Conclusions. The results obtained could be subjected to further analysis in order to enhance their effectiveness, for example, by examining concrete life situations of students
The association between smoking/vaping habits and self-reported respiratory symptoms /
Background: Smoking is well known for its harmful effect on the respiratory system, but whether vaping is less harmful is unknown. Therefore, the aim of this study was to assess the association of smoking/vaping habits with self-reported respiratory symptoms in vapers and cigarette smokers. Methods: An online survey was developed and shared on different vaping and smoking social media platforms and communities. Results: Out of the 891 respondents, 788 were vapers (77 pure vapers and 711 ex-smokers) and 103 were cigarette smokers. Smokers reported more frequently respiratory symptoms such as chest pain, wheezing and whistling, sputum production, cough, dry mouth, and smokers suffered from more shortness of breath, sore throat and disturbed sleep compared to vapers. The self-reported respiratory symptoms in vapers were mainly related to the nicotine strength of the product and number of puffs per use. There were no significant differences between pure vapers and vapers who were ex-smokers. Conclusion: Self-reported severe respiratory symptoms were less frequent in vapers than smokers, irrespective of their smoking history. This suggests that vaping is less harmful than cigarette smoking
Acute effects of combined and distinctive stretching, foam rolling, and eccentric exercise in young men with hamstring tightness /
This study investigated the changes in fascicle length (FL), musculotendinous unit (MTU) stiffness, muscle oxygen saturation (SmO2), and muscular performance following a single bout of a combination of static stretching (SS) or dynamic stretching (DS) with foam rolling (FR), SS only, and eccentric exercise (ECC) only in young men with hamstring tightness. Twenty-five men (20.5 ± 1.5 years) participated in a crossover randomized study of the four conditions (DS+FR, SS+FR, SS, and ECC); each session was spaced seven days apart. FL, MTU stiffness during the straight leg raise (SLR), hamstring SmO2, and isometric and eccentric torque were measured before, immediately and 30 min after exercise. Immediately after exercise, the SLR increased significantly by means of 7.4% (d = 1.07), 6% (d = 1.27), 6% (d = 1.10), and 8% (d = 1.04, all p 0.05), but it was increased immediately after those three exercises. Hamstring isometric torque was significantly reduced by an average of 6–9%, but eccentric torque changes varied among conditions. In conclusion, substantial and similar immediate increases in hamstring flexibility, coupled with reduced isometric torque following various exercises, were accompanied by condition-specific alterations in fascicle length, MTU stiffness, or SmO2. These findings provide practical insights for acutely enhancing range of motion in individuals with tight hamstrings
An exploration of the perceived impact of COVID-19 on physical activity of Irish adolescents /
Background Physical activity (PA) behaviours of adolescents were impacted by the stringent measures designed to prevent the spread of COVID-19, but little is known about the long-term impact of the pandemic on PA. Purpose This study examines the perceived impact of COVID-19 on PA, the factors associated with these perceptions, and association with current PA behaviour. Methods National representative sample from the island of Ireland completed the Children Sport Participation and Physical Activity (CSPPA) study in spring 2022. Questions included the 'perceived impact of COVID-19 restrictions' dimensions of PA and PA participation. Rasch analyses were used to determine item validity. Logistic regressions were used to determine risk and protective factors in the perceived positive impact and associations between the impact of COVID-19 and PA. Results The scale was deemed reliable (alpha = 0.86, p < .001) among the final sample of 12-20 year olds (weighted n = 2888). Perceived positive impact was lowest in school sport as PA levels increased and impact on fitness were highest among adolescents who were daily active (OR = 3.8, CI 2.7-5.3). Discussion The pandemic had long lasting effects on adolescents' PA and health. Ways to overcome the lack of school sport during the pandemic is needed at post-primary school level. Making changes to school sport may be protective over low PA levels when considering the return from the pandemic
