Inspecting primary school students' environmental attitudes based on ecocentric and anthropocentric perspectives

    Get PDF
This study aimed at (i) identifying primary school students' attitudes toward environmental issues based on the perspectives of ecocentrism and anthropocentrism and (ii) inspecting students' attitudes (i.e., ecocentric and anthropocentric) toward environmental issues in relation to gender and grade level. Data were gathered from 40 students through the administration of an interview questionnaire along with pictures concerning questions in the questionnaire. Results demonstrated that most of the participants who held positive attitudes reflected anthropocentric attitudes toward water, paper, and electricity consumption, reusing, and playground preferences whereas ecocentric attitudes toward plants, bugs, and other animals. Besides, half and slightly more than half of the participants with positive attitudes expressed ecocentric attitudes toward residence preferences and environmental pollution, respectively while nearly half of the participants with positive attitudes expressed anthropocentric attitudes toward the mentioned issues. It was also found that with the exception of one environmental issue, participants' attitudes toward environmental issues were not significantly associated with their gender. Additionally, no relation was found between participants' environmental attitudes and their grade level

    Get PDF
In this article, semi-symmetry of almost C (α)-manifold is investigated on some special curvature tensors. First, the behavior of the almost C (α)-manifold is investigated when the special curvature tensors discussed are flat. Then, for these special curvature tensors, the behavior of the manifold in the semi-symmetric condition is observed and for some special curvature ten-sors, important properties such as the semi-symmetric almost C (α)-manifold being Einstein and η−Einstein manifold are obtained

The use of purple carrot powder in the diet of laying quails improved some egg quality characteristics, including antioxidant capacity

    Get PDF
The goal of the current experiment was to investigate the effect of dietary concentrations of purple carrot powder (PCP) on performance, egg production, egg quality, and the antioxidant capacity of the yolk in laying quails. A total of one hundred and fifty 22-week-old Japanese laying quails were allotted to 5 dietary treatments each with 6 replicates of 5 quails. Quails were allocated to five dietary treatments (0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, and 0.4%) with PCP addition at an increasing level from 0 to 4000 mg/kg diet respectively, which were fed ad-libitum throughout the duration of the experiment. No differences were detected between dietary treatments for any of the performance parameters or egg production. Eggshell weight and eggshell thickness (P < 0.05) were linearly affected by PCP dietary, reaching maximum levels at 0.4% of PCP supplementation, while the percentage of damaged egg and egg-breaking strength remained similar for all experimental groups (P < 0.05). Quails receiving PCP diets showed a yellowness (b*) (P < 0.05) egg yolk color than those fed the control diet, without affecting the rest of the color parameters and egg internal quality. Increasing PCP levels in diets reduced linearly yolk TBARS (P < 0.01) and increased linearly DPPH (P < 0.01). The addition of PCP, a safe and readily available agricultural by-product, as a component of the diet of laying quail was effective without adversely affecting quail production. Moreover, the inclusion of PCP in the diet might benefit laying quails’ eggs by improving some quality traits and enhancing the yolk’s antioxidant capacity, which could improve their shelf-life and acceptability

Mosque and sermon in opposition to Ottoman power (16th Century)

Osmanlı padişahına tabiiyetin göstergesi ve hâkimiyet simgesi olan cuma camileri, aynı zamanda “Memâlik-i Mahrûse-i Şahâne”deki nizama işaret ederdi. 16. yüzyılda Safevilerin ortaya çıkışı ile birlikte Osmanlı iktidarına karşı Safevi taraftarı kendi tebaasından ciddi bir tehdit baş gösterecekti. Safevilerle beraber siyasallaşan heterodoksi, bu yüzyılda, cuma namazına ve Hulefâ-i Raşidin’in isimlerinin hutbede zikredilmesine muhalefet etmişlerdi. The Ottomans, who established a legal political structure from the very beginning, struggled for existence in a “critical geography where historical power struggles were intensified”. Preserving legitimacy was the most important reason for this struggle. The concrete form of legitimacy for a Sunni empire was the mentioning of the names of the sultan and the first four caliphs in the Friday prayer and sermon. Friday mosques, which were a symbol of loyalty to the Ottoman sultan and a sign of dominance, also represented order in “Memâlik-i Mahrûse-i Şahâne”. In the 16th century, the emergence of the Safavids posed a serious threat to Ottoman power. Heterodoxy, which became politicized with the Safavids, opposed the Friday prayer and the mentioning of the names of the Rashid caliphs in the sermon. To prevent Safavid propaganda in Ottoman society and the politicization of “ilhad”, “Sunnism” was preserved as a “state policy” with more sensitivity, especially during the period of Yavuz Sultan Selim. During the period of Kanuni, an edict was issued ordering the construction of mosques in all villages in 1537. The community that attended the Friday prayer in mosques and declared its loyalty to the Rashid caliphs and the sultan in the sermon was placed in the same metaphysical context as the central authority, and also became politicized. Separating from this religious and political community (ahl as-sunnah wal-jamaah) was called “ilhad”, and its politicized form was called “rafd”. While “ilhad” was more concerned with the theological aspect of the issue, “rafd” was related to its political aspect. As the 16th century progressed, this opposition, which can be traced in the Mühimme registers, diversified with the oppositions arising from the combination of rafidism, the protest political stance brought by the belief of the lost Mahdi associated with it, and the reaction of the nomadic elements against the established order. In the period of the Celali revolts, Kalenderoğlu Mehmed's attitude against Friday prayers and sermons resulted in his defeat to Kuyucu Murad Pasha, and his fleeing to Iran, where he later accepted Kızılbaş beliefs

Career expectation level is shaped by many social, cultural and environmental factors. In order to the professional career expectation level to be high that is necessary to meet the needs, wishes, and desires of the individual that do not conflict with the business line, profession, and environment of the individual. For this reason, knowing the factors affecting the professional career perception of the individual who is educated in any sector and determining the level of professional motivation within this framework emerges as a very important requirement in terms of sectoral development and employment. In this respect, what expectations the individual has from the sector s/he wants to work in and the direction of these expectations are important in the context of motivation and career goals. In this research, it is aimed to examine the change in the career expectations of students who receive cookery education within the scope of the effects of COVID-19. The research was designed in the screening model. The universe of the research consists of students who continue their education in Aksaray University Güzelyurt Vocational School Cookery Program in the between 2019-2021 academic years. As a data collection tool in the research, Aymankuy and Aymankuy's (2013) research questionnaire for tourism and hotel management students was used. The data were analysed through frequency analysis and Wilcoxon Signed Ranks tests. According to the findings, it has been seen that the expectations of the cookery program students for their profession are high, but this expectation was lower than before the pandemic

In the present paper, we first study the Gaussian Leonardo numbers and Gaussian Leonardo hybrid numbers. We give some new results for the Gaussian Leonardo numbers, including relations with the Gaussian Fibonacci and Gaussian Lucas numbers, and also give some new results for the Gaussian Leonardo hybrid numbers, including relations with the Gaussian Fibonacci and Gaussian Lucas hybrid numbers. For the proofs, we use the symmetric and antisymmetric properties of the Fibonacci and Lucas numbers. Then, we introduce the Gaussian Leonardo polynomials, which can be considered as a generalization of the Gaussian Leonardo numbers. After that, we introduce the Gaussian Leonardo hybrid polynomials, using the Gaussian Leonardo polynomials as coefficients instead of real numbers in hybrid numbers. Moreover, we obtain the recurrence relations, generating functions, Binet-like formulas, Vajda-like identities, Catalan-like identities, Cassini-like identities, and d’Ocagne-like identities for the Gaussian Leonardo polynomials and hybrid polynomials, respectively

Regions of robust relative stability for PI controllers and LTI plants with unstructured multiplicative uncertainty: A second-order-based example

    Get PDF
his example-oriented article addresses the computation of regions of all robustly relatively stabilizing Proportional-Integral (PI) controllers under various robust stability margins α for Linear Time-Invariant (LTI) plants with unstructured multiplicative uncertainty, where the plant model with multiplicative uncertainty is built on the basis of the second-order plant with three uncertain parameters. The applied graphical method, adopted from the authors’ previous work, is grounded in finding the contour that is linked to the pairs of P–I coefficients marginally fulfilling the condition of robust relative stability expressed using the H∞ norm. The illustrative example in the current article emphasizes that the technique itself for plotting the boundary contour of robust relative stability needs to be combined with the precondition of the nominally stable feedback control system and with the line for which the integral parameter equals zero in order to get the final robust relative stability regions. The calculations of the robust relative stability regions for various robust stability margins α are followed by the demonstration of the control behavior for two selected controllers applied to a set of members from the family of plants

    Transient tachypnea of the newborn

    No full text
Transient tachypnea of the newborn is a physiological lung parenchyma disorder that is frequently seen in term and late preterm neonates. It occurs due to insufficient clearing of the fetal alveolar fluid. The clinical status is expected to return to normal within 48-72 hours. Although there is a limited effect of vaginal contractions and starling forces on the pathophysiology of the clearance of fetal lung fluid, the key mechanism is the osmotic gradient formed by the amiloride-sensitive sodium transport via EnaC from pulmonary epithelial cells, which facilitates the transepithelial movement of alveolar fluid from the pulmonary epithelium. Clinically, in patients with tachypnea there is observed to be groaning, flaring of the nostrils when breathing, intercostal and subcostal contractions, a need for oxygen, hypoxia, and occasionally, cyanosis. Oxygen is required in treatment and, in some cases, continuous positive airway pressure
