Çocuklarda dijital palpasyon kullanılarak perkütan trakeostomi yerleştirme bölgesinin tanımlanma doğruluğu
Percutaneous tracheostomy (PT) may be required frequently in long-term ventilated intensive care patients. Although the overall risks are low, serious complications may occur, especially in children. Hence, this study aimed to assess physician accuracy in identifying PT insertion sites by digital palpation in children aged between 5 and 13 years. METHODS: Participants were asked to identify the needle entry point (interspace between 2nd and 3rd or 3rd and 4th tracheal rings) for PT using digital palpation. Then, a single operator scanned the neck of each child with a linear high-frequency transducer. An accurate estimation was defined as a mark made between the upper and lower borders of the tracheal rings within the midline. RESULTS: In the study including 104 patients, the PT insertion site was accurately identified with digital palpation in a total of 50.9% of patients, compared with sonographic findings
Exploring the link between the international students and the economic growth of Turkey
A compact literature will find pragmatic or normative true consensus on relationships between international students and economic growth whether it is new or not. In this context, the authors see that accumulated systematic knowledge is mostly seen in the literature on the United States of America, Great Britain, and Canada. Those are the countries that most international students have been studying. At this point, what motivated the authors is that the topic needs to be extended to the Turkiye context. To that end, the objective of this study is to examine basic indicators of Türkiye's recent growth in the economy at a glance and its link with international students. Particularly, the background part outlines an overview of exploring questions of what influences economic output, ultimate determinants of growth in the economy, the significance of gross domestic product (GDP), and indicators of economic growth by comparing GDP in current prices with the real GDP systematically referring to the literature. The characteristic of qualitative document analysis methodology dominates this study
Konum Tabanlı Görünür I¸sık Haberle¸smesi
Visible light communication (VLC) takes its place among wireless access technologies as an alternative to radio frequency (RF) systems. Although VLC has significant advantages over RF systems (not being affected by electromagnetic interference (EMI), having a wide spectrum range, energy efficiency, etc.), it also has its own problems. One of these problems is the high correlation between channels in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) structures. In this paper, a receiver structure with adjustable azimuth and elevation angles is proposed for MIMO VLC. The position of the receiver is determined by means of the receiver signal strength indicator (RSSI) parameter. The best angles were set for the MIMO receiver using positioning data. Repetition coding (RC) and spatial multiplexing (SMP) are used as MIMO schemes and bit error rate (BER) performance is obtained. The proposed receiver structure provides SNR gains at different locations in both schemes
Lysozyme Imprinted poly(hydroxyethyl methacrylate) Cryogel Membrane with the Assistance of polydopamine
The surface imprinted technique was utilized in creating the synthetic lysozyme recep- tors on the poly(hydroxyethyl methacrylate) [p(HEMA)] cryogel membrane with the assistance of polydopamine under alkaline conditions. Following the design of the arti- ficial receptors, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron mi- croscope (SEM) and the swelling test were used for the characterization studies and the lysozyme adsorption capability of the adsorbent was evaluated in the aqueous solution. The maximum adsorption capacity (Qmax) of lysozyme was found as 108.9 mg/g and the adsorption of the target protein on the adsorbent was monolayer and showed a good fit to the Langmuir isotherm model. The IF factor was 3.26 and the adsorbent was highly selective against creatinine and bovine serum albumin (BSA). Furthermore, the adsorbent maintained its stability after 5 adsorption, desorption, and regeneration cycles
Energy and exergy analysis with emissions evaluation of a gasoline engine using different fuels
Petroleum-based fuels are used extensively as a result of the rising energy demands. Studies on fuels that will replace these fuels are now ongoing. In this study, performance, emission values of 4 different fuels at 4 different torque values were evaluated, and energy and exergy analyses were done utilizing combinations of gasoline, natural gas, and methanol. The tests employed a Lombardini LGW 523 2-cylinder 4-stroke engine. Four different fuels (gasoline, gasoline plus 50 g of natural gas, M20, and M20 plus 50 g of natural gas) were tested at a constant 3000 rpm with four different torque values (5, 10, 15, 20). In tests, it produced the lowest specific fuel consumption and the best emissions when combined with 50 g of natural gas fuel. The purpose of this study was to show that as torque increased, values for fuel, network, exhaust, absorption water, and energy destruction increased, while rates of lost energy decreased and rates of energy destruction increased
An integrated Multi-Criteria Decision Making and Multi-Choice Conic Goal Programming approach for customer evaluation and manager assignment
Companies adopt a customer-centric approach to maintain their competitive position or dominate the market. In this context, managers are pivotal in navigating the competitive markets in accomplishing these goals. Setting targets and conducting performance evaluations are vital for managers’ long-term success. This study aims to optimise customer evaluation and manager assignment in the defence industry. An integrated approach utilising the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) is employed to conduct a comprehensive market analysis and conduct this evaluation. A bi-objective integer programming model is formulated to maximise total integrated scores and potential returns. The efficient number of visits is determined by combining Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) and Multi-Choice Conic Goal Programming (MCCGP). This study offers an objective alternative to traditional survey-based evaluations by proposing a novel decision support system for Goal-Based Performance Appraisals (GBPA) of managers. The proposed approach yields performance values that are considerably more reliable than questionnaire results. Moreover, the proposed decision support system can effectively benefit employees across diverse sectors, extending beyond the confines of the defence industry
Hyperbolic Horadam hybrid functions
The aim of this paper is to introduce the hybrid form of the hyperbolic Horadam function and to investigate some of its properties such as the generating function. Another aim is to define hyperbolic Horadam hybrid sine and cosine functions and their symmetrical forms. For newly defined functions, some properties such as the recursive relations, derivatives, Cassini and De Moivre type identities are examined. In addition, the quasi-sine Horadam hybrid function and three-dimensional Horadam hybrid spiral are defined
A Look At The Kemal Tahir’s Novel Of Wolf Law In The Context Of The New Historicism Theory
The novel, which is one of the important branches of literature, interacts with many fields of social sciences with its young and dynamic structure. Historical novels are one of the most sought after novels among the novels that have been divided into various branches over time. Historical novels have always attracted attention since they first appeared. This narrative genre, which blends two important disciplines such as history and literature, has also been used as a means of conveying ideologies and has gained a special place. In Turkish literature, the number of works given in this type of novel is increasing and the interest of the reader is increasing day by day. The New Historicism theory, which we consider in our study, has brought a new perspective to the works dealing with history and has revealed a structure that gives the opportunity to question official history through these novels. In this article, the work of Kemal Tahir, known for his stance against the official history of Turkish literature and one of the novelists who produced the most works in this sense, Kurt Kanunu, which is identified with the motto "Eating one's part in the wolf is the law", has been examined in the context of the New Historicist theory and the parts in the novel that are in conflict with the official history have been the focus of our study. . In our review, the introduction part deals with the identity of historical novels and their differences with general history books. Then, a holistic view on the New Historicist theory was carried out. In the following part, information about Kemal Tahir is presented and his view of the historical novel is reflected. In the last chapter, the title of conclusion, the study was evaluated and the findings were listed
Carvacrol protects against λ-Cyhalothrin-induced hepatotoxicity and nephrotoxicity by modulating oxidative stress, inflammation, apoptosis, endoplasmic reticulum stress, and autophagy
λ-Cyhalothrin, a type II synthetic pyrethroid, has been widely used in households, agriculture, public health, and gardening to control insect pests. Despite its widespread usage, it is known to induce a variety of adverse effects, including hepatotoxicity and nephrotoxicity. The goal of this study was to investigate the protective effect of carvacrol, which has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptotic, and some other properties, on λ-Cyhalothrin-induced hepatotoxicity and nephrotoxicity 35 male Sprague–Dawley rats were randomly divided into five groups for this purpose: I-Control group: II-CRV group (50 mg/kg carvacrol), III-LCT group (6.23 mg/kg LCT), IV-LCT + CRV 25 group (6.23 mg/kg LCT + 25 mg/kg carvacrol), and V-LCT + CRV 50 group (6.23 mg/kg LCT + 50 mg/kg carvacrol). Using biochemical, real-time PCR, and western blotting methods, the collected tissues were analyzed. While λ-Cyhalothrin treatment increased MDA levels, which are indicated of lipid peroxidation, but reduced SOD, CAT, GPx activities, and GSH levels. After receiving carvacrol therapy, the degree of oxidative stress reduced as the values of these parameters approached those of the control group. Increased inflammation, apoptosis, endoplasmic reticulum stress, and autophagy with λ-Cyhalothrin administration reduced with carvacrol co-administration, and liver and kidney tissues were protected from damage, depending on the degree of oxidative stress. After considering all of these data, it was discovered that λ-Cyhalothrin-induced oxidative stress, inflammation, apoptosis, endoplasmic reticulum stress, and autophagy in the liver and kidneys; however, carvacrol protected the tissues from damage. Our findings indicate that carvacrol may be a promising protective agent in λ-Cyhalothrin-induced hepatotoxicity and nephrotoxicity
An investigation of item bias for the attitude scale towards E-Assessment
It is thought that the concept of electronic assessment (e-assessment), which has become a current issue with Covid-19, will gain widespread use in the upcoming years as a requirement of the modern age. In this respect, it can be suggested that analyzing attitudes toward e-assessment will be important in the present and the future. Considering the attitude scales for e-assessment used in Turkey, it can be observed that some relevant evidence has been demonstrated for the validity and reliability of the scales. However, although inter-group comparisons were performed in these studies, they did not investigate at what level measurement invariance is achieved; or whether any items were demonstrating differential item functioning (DIF), and reducing validity by indicating bias. This mixed-method study is significant in terms of providing further evidence of validity and it aims to examine the e-Assessment Attitude Scale, developed by Bahar and revised by Bahar & Asil, in terms of measurement invariance and differential item functioning according to the variables of gender and possession of a personal computer. The quantitative part of the study consisted of 537 undergraduate students and the qualitative part consisted of eight field experts. During the first step of the quantitative part of the study, the data obtained were tested for measurement invariance based on independent variables by checking the analysis assumptions. Due to the fact that metric invariance could not be achieved in both independent variables, POLY-SIBTEST and MantelTest were applied to the data set in the second step, and items demonstrating DIF were determined. Finally, in the qualitative part, the researchers discussed whether the items were biased or not by referring to the expert opinions on the items that demonstrate a high level of DIF according to the results of both methods, and relevant recommendations were presented to the researchers and practitioners
