Gül Koklayan II. Mehmet Tablosunun Gentile Bellini’nin Tablosu Temelinde Kültürel Açıdan Önemi
This paper examines the painting of Mehmet II, which was painted by Sinan Bey/ Şiblizade Ahmed based on the painting by Gentile Bellini. Those works of art show Mehmet the Conqueror in the same perspective by using different materials and styles of painting. Mehmet II is depicted as the Conqueror of Constantinople in this painting and the painting also includes concepts of Ottoman culture. This paper illustrates the ways in which particular Western elements of art commingled with traditional Turkish art imagery to depict the Sultan’s power over Constantinople. Both paintings represent different aspects of Mehmet the Conqueror. Both painters convey their own cultural consciousness and impressions in their paintings. Even though, Gentile Bellini and Şiblizade Ahmed made a similar artistic creation, they present different perspectives of Mehmet II within their own cultural framework. In addition, this paper shows how a local artist was inspired by a foreign artist. Furthermore, the two paintings are explained based on the objects and features used. In conclusion, this study shows that both paintings are also arranged within their own long memory and different social, cultural, and historical point of views to materiality.
A conceptual framework of the service delivery system design for hospitality firms in the (post-)viral world: The role of service robots
This study aims to develop a conceptual framework of the service delivery system design for hospitality firms in the (post-)viral world. Several theoretical approaches such as resource-based view, value chain analysis, stakeholder theory, PESTEL analysis, positioning strategy, and service delivery system design were adopted. The paper identified three service delivery system designs (robotic, human-based, and mixed) and analyses their requirements, advantages, disadvantages, and potential target markets. According to the suggested model, hospitality firms need first to explore the expectations of tourists. Then comes the analysis phase (based on a holistic perspective, and consisting of RBV, Value chain, Stakeholder, and PESTEL analyses), which helps hospitality firms to identify how they should differentiate and position themselves in the market. Following, companies decide on what kind of service delivery system they should offer to their target customers, and position themselves in the market according to the chosen system

The Role of Natural Antioxidants Against Reactive Oxygen Species Produced by Cadmium Toxicity: A Review
Cadmium (Cd) is a significant ecotoxic heavy metal that adversely affects all biological processes of humans, animals and plants. Exposure to acute and chronic Cd damages many organs in humans and animals (e.g. lung, liver, brain, kidney, and testes). In humans, the Cd concentration at birth is zero, but because the biological half-life is long (about 30 years in humans), the concentration increases with age. The industrial developments of the last century have significantly increased the use of this metal. Especially in developing countries, this consumption is higher. Oxidative stress is the imbalance between antioxidants and oxidants. Cd increases reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and causes oxidative stress. Excess cellular levels of ROS cause damage to proteins, nucleic acids, lipids, membranes and organelles. This damage has been associated with various diseases. These include cancer, hypertension, ischemia/perfusion, cardiovascular diseases, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes, insulin resistance, acute respiratory distress syndrome, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, asthma, skin diseases, chronic kidney disease, eye diseases, neurodegenerative diseases (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and Huntington disease). Natural antioxidants are popular drugs that are used by the majority of people and have few side effects. Natural antioxidants play an important role in reducing free radicals caused by Cd toxicity. Our goal in this review is to establish the relationship between Cd and oxidative stress and to discuss the role of natural antioxidants in reducing Cd toxicity
Determining Effect of Plyometric Exercises on Various Motoric Characteristics for Woman Volleyball Players
The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of plyometric training on the agility, vertical jump and 20 meter speed tests performance and volleyball performance of female volleyball players. The study was carried out on 14 female athletes from the 13-14 age group of Izmit DSI Sports Club whose sports age was 3.5 ± 0.70 years. Athletes were randomly divided into two groups as experimental (n=7) and control (n=7). Volleyball-specific technical-tactical trainings and plyometric training program were applied to the experimental group for 8 weeks, 3 days a week and 90 minutes in scope. The control group continued only 90 minutes of volleyball training. Prior to plyometric training, both groups were given agility, vertical jump and 20 meter speed tests as pre- and post-tests. First and last test values of the groups were determined and descriptive statistics were made by using SPSS 22.0 statistical package program. Wilcoxon test was used to compare the first and last measurements of the groups, and Mann-Whitney U test was used to compare the data of the control and experimental groups. According to the data obtained, when the experimental group first test and last test were compared, it was found that there was a statistically significant increase in vertical jump and illionis agility test results (p0.05). There were statistically significant differences between the two groups in the comparison of the final measurement values of 20 meters speed, vertical jump and illinois agility test between the groups (p<0.05). As a result, it can be said that 8-week plyometric training has a positive effect on the speed, agility and vertical jump performance of volleyball players in the 13-14 age group
Investigation of Word Vector Models Trained with Turkish Hotel Comments by Sentiment Analysis
One of the important research areas of Natural Language Processing and text classification is sentiment analysis. Studies in this area are growing rapidly. This technique manifests itself in all kinds of applications of digital life. There are many techniques developed for sentiment analysis, but recently, word embedding methods of natural language processing have become widely used in sentiment analysis. Word2Vec is one of the most useful word embedding methods that can convert words into meaningful vectors. In order to create word vectors with this method, large word pools are needed. Pre-trained models make it possible to achieve more accurate results in sentiment analysis. In this study, Turkish hotel reviews of approved users were collected by data scraping methods for examination of sentiment analysis. Obtained from the original data by training with Word2Vec word vectors were created. With these vectors, a classification model has been developed with Gated Recurrent Unit which is a kind of Recurrent Neural Networks. The vectors formed by assigning random values to wider corpus-trained word vectors were re-examined with the same deep learning method and the obtained classification successes were compared. According to the results, it was observed that the broader corpus independent of the private area increased the success of classification
Tourists’ perceptions of the tour guides: the case of gastronomic tours in Istanbul
The aim of the present study is to understand tourists’ perceptions of the professional tour guides in gastronomic tour experiences. This study adopted a qualitative case study approach utilizing user-generated content by analysing travellers’ comments on the TripAdvisor website. The data was collected between 28 February-18 April 2019 from travellers’ reviews of experiences they had between January 2017 and February 2019. The findings reveal four core themes: attributes, knowledge, communication skills (educators, involving tour members and maintaining their attention) and value-added experience. Moreover, a model explaining the relationship between the themes is also provided. Since no previous empirical studies exist on the tourists’ perceptions of the tour guides in gastronomic tour experiences, with providing an in-depth understanding of the subject, this study fills a gap in the current literature
Shamanism: Anatomy of an Ambiguous Concept
The concept of shamanism began to be used in the 1950s to express a larger universe by expanding meaning with the studies of religious scholars such as Mircea Eliade. However, this enlargement, on the one hand, has important traces of its narrow meaning in the past, while pointing to an ambiguous area. In this context, it can be mentioned that the meaning of the concept of shamanism expanded and some problems arising as a result. This study focuses on the semantic change and perception created by the concept of shaman/shamanism, which is very important in terms of the his-tory of religions, anthropology, and archeology
Thin-Layer Drying Modeling in the Hot Oil-Heated Stenter
Although the drying processes have an important place in the textile industry in terms of drying or various textile finishing applications, they are considered as an expensive process in terms of energy and time consumed. Therefore, it is of great importance to simulate with mathematical models the drying behavior of a stenter (ram machine), one of the most preferred convection dryers in the textile industry. For this purpose, in this study, modeling was attempted of the drying behavior of 67 % Cotton + 33 % Polyester containing Thessaloniki knit fabrics, using experimental data obtained from drying processes performed in 9 different drying operations in a 10-chamber hot oil-heated stenter and 12 different empirical and semi-empirical thin-layer models that are frequently used in the literature. R2 values from regression analysis were evaluated as the primary factor in the model fit selection. According to the results obtained, it was understood that the Diffusion Approach model with R2 values ranging from 0.9991 to 0.9999, Two Term Model with R2 values ranging from 0.9995 to 0.9999, and the Modified Henderson and Pabis model with R2 values ranging from 0.9995 to 0.9999 gave the most appropriate results upon simulating drying behavior. In this regard, this study, which contains explanatory information on the drying behavior in a stenter, is thought to be useful to researchers
