    Investigation of the effects of diclofenac sodium in rat ovary on the number of preantral follicles by stereological methods in prenatal period

    For healthy future generations pregnancy is a period in which maximum amount of attention should be given. In this period, choice, duration and dosage of medication as well as the changing physiology of the mother should be taken into account. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are a group of drugs that have analgesic, anti-pyretic and antiinflammatory effects. This group of drugs can be used in the treatment of the ongoing rheumatic diseases or which occur during the pregnancy period and the complications that occur due to pregnancy. We aimed to show how it affects the number of ovarium preantral follicles of newborn fetus on rats by using Diclofenac Sodium which belongs to this drug family group. Diclofenac Sodium (1 mg / kg, IM) was injected for 15 days from the 5th day of pregnancy to pregnant rats in Diclofenac Sodium group and saline (1 ml / kg, IM) was injected to the pregnant rats of the sham group at the same time period. In the 4th week after birth, ovarian tissue preparates of rat pups were stained with hematoxylin-eosin and ovarian total tissue volumes and preantral follicle counts were evaluated under light microscope. There was no statistically significant difference between groups for ovarium total tissue volumes and preantral follicle numbers (p>0.05). Lowest value of follicular intensity was observed in Diclofenac sodium group among study groups however no statistically important difference was found (p>0.05). Results obtained in our study may be related with administration of drug in not a high dosage (1mg/kg).     Detection of alfalfa mosaic virus (AMV) in potato production areas in Hatay province of Turkey

    Hatay ili patates alanlarında 2009 ve 2010 yıllarında yapılan çalışmalarda Yonca mozaik virüsü (Alfalfa mosaic virus: AMV) ile enfekteli olabileceğinden şüphelenilen simptomlu patates bitkileri belirlenmiştir. Patates alanlarında AMV'nin varlığı ve yaygınlığı ile diğer konukçularını belirlemek üzere 2014-2015 yıllarında farklı çeşitlere ait patates tarlalarından şüpheli bitki örnekleri alınmıştır. İncelenen patates tarlalarında özellikle yabancı otlar üzerinde yoğun olarak AMV potansiyel vektörü olan Aphis fabae Scopoli, A. gossypii Glover, A. solanella Theobald, Myzus persicae (Sulzer), Macrosiphum euphorbiae (Thomas) ve Rhopalosiphum padi L. türleri belirlenmiştir. Sarı desenler, lekeler ve daha sonra şiddetli kloroz gösteren patates yaprak örneği serolojik (DAS ELISA: Double antibody sandwich-Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay) ve biyolojik indeksleme (mekanik inokulasyon) yöntemleri ile incelenmiştir. Ülkemizde Hatay ilinde yetiştirilen patateste son birkaç yıldır AMV'nin enfeksiyon oluşturduğu belirlenmiştir. Yabancı ot türlerinden Physalis angulata örneklerinde 2014 yılında %15.3 oranında AMV enfeksiyonu belirlenmiştir. Simptomlu patates bitkilerinde AMV enfeksiyonu 2014 ve 2015 üretim dönemlerinde %5.4 ve %4.6 olarak bulunmuştur. AMV'nin patateste düşük seviyelerde enfeksiyon oluşturmasına rağmen, özellikle Amik Ovası'nda yetiştirilen yonca, domates ve biber gibi diğer kültür bitkileri ile yabacı otlar veya bu kaynaklardan patatese virüsün vektör yaprak bitleri ile taşınabilmesi nedeni ile Hatay ilinde patateste AMV enfeksiyonu belirlenmesi önem taşımaktadır. Hatay ilinde patates bitkilerinde son birkaç yıldır görülmeye başlayan AMV enfeksiyonu için il dışından gelen enfekteli tohumluk yumruların kaynak olduğu düşünülmektedir. AMV'nin yıllara içinde patates alanlarındaki durumunu izlemek için patates, yabancı otlar ve diğer konukçuları ile ilgili çalışmalar devam etmektedirSymptomatic potato plants were found to be infected with Alfalfa mosaic virus (AMV) during the studies in potato growing areas in Hatay province in 2009 and 2010. Suspected plant samples were taken from different potato cultivars and weeds in 2014-2015 due to determine of the presence and prevalence of AMV and its other hosts in the fields. Potential vector species as Aphis fabae Scopoli, A. gossypii Glover, A. solanella Theobald, Myzus persicae (Sulzer), Macrosiphum euphorbiae (Thomas) and Rhopalosiphum padi L. were intensively found on weeds in the potato fields. Potato leaf samples showing yellow spots and patterns, and then severe chlorosis were detected by serological (DAS ELISA: Double antibody sandwich-Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay) and biological indexing methods. AMV was detected in Physalis angulata by the rate of 15.3% in 2014. Although, AMV infection was found in low levels in symptomatic potato plants in 2014 and 2015 (5.4% and 4.6%), AMV is important in Amik plain due to the virus can be transmitted by vector aphids to weeds and other crops mainly growing in Amik plain such as alfalfa, tomato and pepper or from these sources to potatoes. AMV infection began to be affected potatoes grown in Hatay during the last few years. Seed tubers infected by AMV are thought to be the source of the virus infection of potatoes growing in Hatay-Turkey.     Evaluation of the genetic diversity of pomegranate accessions from Turkey using new microsatellite markers

    Turkey has many valuable genetic resources for pomegranate; however, there have not been many studies on the identification and characterization of these important genetic resources. New microsatellite markers were used to characterize a set of 78 pomegranate accessions from Turkey. Using six SSR primers, a total of 41 alleles were characterized with an average of 4.6 alleles per locus and mean probability of identity (PI) value of 0.366. These data indicated a high level of polymorphism in pomegranate germplasm. Five synonymous groups could be detected among 30 accessions. This microsatellite-based key is a first step towards a database for markerassisted identification of pomegranate accessions in Turkey. The present study provides essential information to devise a pomegranate core germplasm collection without duplication of plant material, to sustainably manage pomegranate breeding programs, and to establish conservation strategies for preserving local pomegranate genetic resources

    Efficiency of PGF2a and PMSG applications on some reproductive parameters in Awassi ewes synchronized with FGA in breeding season

Aşım sezonunda FGA ile senkronize edilen ivesi koyunlarında PGF2? ve PMSG uygulamasının bazı reprodüktif parametreler üzerine etkisi.Amaç: Çalışma, üreme sezonunda fluorogeston asetat içeren vaginal süngerler ile senkronize edilmiş İvesi ırkı koyunlarda, süngerlerin çıkartıldığı gün uygulanan PMSG ve PGF2?'nın fertilite parametreleri üzerindeki etkilerini karşılaştırmak amacıyla düzenlendi.Gereç ve Yöntem: Araştırmada 75 baş koyun kullanıldı. Koyunların tamamına 20 mg FGA içeren vaginal süngerler 10 gün süreyle uygulandı. Süngerlerin çıkartıldığı gün FGA I (n:25) grubundaki koyunlara herhangi bir enjeksiyon yapılmadı. FGA II (n:25) grubundaki hayvanlara 125 mcg cloprostenol, FGA III (n:25) grubundakilere ise 500 IU PMSG ile 125 mcg cloprostenol kas içi olarak uygulandı. Bulgular: FGA I, FGA II ve FGA III gruplarında östrüs başlangıç zamanları sırasıyla 52.36±2.91, 38.53±2.53 ve 31.30±1.96 saat olarak belirlendi. FGA I, FGA II ve FGA III gruplarında östrüs oranları sırasıyla %88, %72 ve %88, gebelik oranları %64, %60 ve %84, konsepsiyon oranları %72.7, %83.3 ve %95, abort oranları %18.75, %33.3 ve %28.6, ikizlik oranları %12.5, %6.6 ve %28.5, doğum oranları %81.25, %66.6 ve %71.4, yavru verimleri ise %115.3, %110 ve %140 olarak saptandı. Gruplar arasında östrüs başlangıç zamanı açısından istatistik fark belirlenirken (P0.05). Aim: This study was conducted in Awassi ewes synchronized with FGA sponge in breeding season for comparison of PMSG and PGF2? administration effects on fertility parameters at the time of sponge withdrawal. Materials and Methods: In this study, 75 Awassi ewes were used. The vaginal sponges (20 mg, FGA) were applied to ewes for 10 days. At the time of sponge withdrawal, any injection was not applied in FGA I group (n:25). Cloprostenol (125 mcg) was applied in FGA II group (n:25), and PMSG (500 IU) and Cloprostenol (125 mcg) were applied by intramuscular injection to the ewes in the FGA III group (n:25). Results: The estrous start times were determined as 52.36±2.91, 38.53±2.53, and 31.30±1.96 hours in the FGA I, FGA II, and FGA III groups, respectively. In the FGA I, FGA II, and FGA III groups; the estrous rates, pregnancy rates, conception rates, abortion rates, the twinning rates, birth rates, and the litter size were detected as 88%, 72%, 88%; 64%, 60%, 84%; 72.7%, 83.3%, 95%; 18.75%, 33.3%, 28.6%; 12.5%, 6.6%, %28.5; 81.25%, 66.6%, 71.4%; 115.3%, 110%, and 140%, respectively. There was statistically significant difference between groups in terms of estrous start time (P0.05)Conclusions: It was concluded that the sexual cycles could be solely synchronized by FGA sponges during breeding season, and the adding PGF2? and PMSG to the program during the time of sponge withdrawal did not affect on other fertility parameters except estrous start tim

    Econometric analysis of effects of nitrogenous fertilizer usage on tomato yield in Tokat, Turkey

    This study aims to investigate the effects of nitrogen fertilizer application on tomato yield by using econometric models. The data obtained by questionnaire from 53 farmers who produce tomatoes in Tokat province constitute the main material of the study. The Simple Random Sampling Method was used to determine the sample size with a 90% confidence interval and 10% margin of error. Nine models were tried to determine the best model to explain the effect of nitrogenous fertilizer usage in tomato cultivation. The data in the models were used to calculate the growers’ optimal fertilizer amount of use (physical optimum and economical optimum values were calculated) and the results were compared to the ones suggested by the experts. As a result, through the statistical studies, quadratic model was found to be the most suitable one. It has been determined that tomato farmers use less (10.54 kg da-1 ) or excess (23.48 kg da-1 ) N fertilizer than the level at which economic optimum is achieved.This study aims to investigate the effects of nitrogen fertilizer application on tomato yield by using econometric models.     Effects of some applications on modified atmosphere storage of bacon avocado variety

    Bu çalışmada Bacon avokado çeşidinin modifiye atmosfer paketleme (MAP), 1-Metilsiklopropan (1-MCP) uygulaması ve MAP+1-MCP uygulamasının muhafaza performanslarına etkisi belirlenmiştir. 1-MCP uygulanan ve/veya modifiye atmosfer torbalarına konan meyveler 6°C’de sıcaklıkta ve %90-95 oransal nemde 3 ay süreyle depolanmış ve depolama süresince ayda bir depodan çıkarılan örnekler analizlenmiştir. Muhafaza süresince ağırlık kayıpları, meyve eti sertliği, asit miktarı, pH, SÇKM miktarı, kabuk ve et rengi, fizyolojik ve mantarsal bozulmalar ve görünüş belirlenmiştir. Elde edilen bulgulara göre modifiye atmosferde muhafaza ve 1-MCP uygulamaları başarılı bulunmuştur.In this study, performance of modified atmosphere storage packaging (MAP), 1-MCP and MAP+1-MCP applications on the Bacon avocado variety was determined. The fruits which are applied 1-MCP and/or placed in modified atmosphere bags were stored at 6ºC and 90-95% relative humidity for 3 months in cold stores and were analyzed every month. The weight loss, fruit flesh firmness, titratable acid content, pH, total soluble solid content, fruit skin and flesh color, incidence of physiological disorders and fungal decay and appearance were determined during storage. According to the results, modified atmosphere storage and 1-MCP application were found to be advisable

    Dil bilgisi öğretiminde sentezci yaklaşımı ele alan bu çalışma, iki ana bölümden meydana gelmektedir. Çalışmanın birinci bölümünde, dil bilgisi (gramer) ve ana dili öğretiminde dil bilgisinin işlevleri hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Bu bağlamda, temel dil becerilerinin geliştirilmesinde ve öğrencilere zihinsel esneklik ve disiplin kazandırmada, dil bilgisi öğretiminin durumu analiz edilmiştir. Bu bölümde son olarak, davranışçı ve yapılandırıcı dil öğretim yaklaşımlarının dil bilgisi öğretimine bakış açıları üzerinde durulmuştur. Çalışmanın ikinci bölümünde, dil bilgisi öğretiminde yöntem sorunu ele alınmıştır. Bu bağlamda, teori ve uygulamada ortaya çıkan çelişkiler belirlenmiştir. Bu çelişkileri ortadan kaldırmaya yönelik öneriler, sentezci yaklaşım çerçevesinde değerlendirilmiştir. Sentezci yaklaşım, davranışçı ve yapılandırıcı eğitim sistemlerinin dil bilgisi öğretiminde ileri sürdüğü görüşlerden hareketle oluşturulmuştur. Bilindiği üzere, bu iki eğitim yaklaşımının dil bilgisi öğretimine ilişkin bakış açıları uygulama noktasında, açık ve net değildir. Bu çalışma, dil bilgisi öğretiminde uygulanması gereken sentezci yöntemin özellikleri üzerine yoğunlaşmaktadır. Çalışma çerçevesinde öne sürülen sentezci yöntemin ayrıntıları şu aşamalar çerçevesinde analiz edilecektir: Ontolojik Farkındalık Oluşturma Aşaması: Ele alınan dil bilgisi konusunun dilin aktif kullanım sürecindeki gerekliliğine yönelik ontolojik bir nitelik taşımaktadır. Bu yapının ya da kuralın dil içindeki görevi nedir? Yapının mevcut olup olmama durumu, dilin anlam yapısında hangi değişiklikleri meydana getirmektedir? Birinci aşama, bu farkındalığı öğrencilere kazandıracak giriş etkinliklerinden oluşmaktadır. Konu Anlatımı Aşaması: Konu anlatımının gerçekleştiği aşamadır. Dil yapısı ya da kuralıyla ilgili içerik bilgisi bu aşamada verilmektedir. Kavram haritası gibi, bilgiyi organize eden şemaların kullanımı bu aşamada gerçekleşmektedir. Kavratma Aşaması: Hazırlanan çalışma kâğıtlarıyla konuyu kavratmaya yönelik uygulamaların yapıldığı aşamadır. Pragmatik Aşama: İşlenen dil bilgisi konusunun metin ortamında kullanılmasını ifade etmektedir. Konuşma, yazma, okuma ve dinleme etkinlikleri için önerilmektedir. Dil bilgisi öğretimiyle ilgili yukarıda sıralanan öğretim modeli, hem davranışçı hem de yapılandırıcı yaklaşımın özelliklerini taşımaktadır. Sentezci yaklaşım kullanımı, bu paylaşımcı yapılandırmanın terminolojik ifadesi olarak tercih edilmiştir.This study, discussing the synthetic approach in grammar teaching, consists of two main parts. The first part, which is an introduction to the study, provides information on grammar and the functions of grammar knowledge in native language education. In that regard, this part also includes a review on grammar teaching in relation to the development of basic language skills and the acquisition of mental flexibility and discipline by students. Lastly, it focuses on the perspectives of behaviourist and constructivist language teaching approaches on grammar teaching. The second part addresses the problem of method in grammar teaching. In this sense, the study determines the contradictions in theory and practice and evaluates the suggestions to eliminate such contradictions within the framework of the synthetic approach. The synthetic approach is based on the concepts put forward by the behaviourist and constructivist education systems on grammar teaching. As is known, the perspective of these two educational approaches towards grammar teaching are not clear and evident. This study centres on the characteristics of a synthetic approach that should be followed in grammar teaching. The details of the synthetic approach, which is introduced in the study, are reviewed in the following stages: The Stage of Creating Ontological Awareness: The grammar subject covered has an ontological nature regarding the necessity of the process of active language use. What is the role of such structure or rule within language? To what extent is the lack or presence of such structure important in the semantic functioning of language? This first stage includes introductory activities that raise ontological awareness among students. The Stage of Lecturing: This is the stage where lecturing takes place and the content knowledge on language structure or rules are provided. The schemes that organize the knowledge, such as concept maps, are employed in this stage as well. The Stage of Comprehension: This stage involves the practices that enable students to comprehend the subject through the prepared work sheets. The Pragmatic Stage: This stage is where the grammar subject covered is being practiced in a text. It is recommended for speaking, writing, reading and listening activities. The above-mentioned stages of teaching regarding grammar teaching bear the characteristics of both the behaviourist approach and the constructivist approach. The expression of synthetic approach is used as the terminological expression of this shared construction

    Toxicological effects of selected ınsecticides on Delphastus catalinae (Horn) (Coleoptera, Coccinellidae), a Predator of Bemisia tabaci Genn (Homoptera, Aleyrodidae)

    Fenpropathrin+pyriproxifen, acetamiprid, diafenthiurion, pyriproxifen ve chlorfenapyr etkili maddelerini ihtiva eden seçilmiş insektisitlerin toksikolojik etkileri laboratuvar koşullarında Pamuk beyazsineği, Bemisia tabaci (Genn.)'nin avcısı Delphastus catalinae (Horn) (Col., Coccinellidae)'nın larva (L3-L4) dönemlerine karşı kuru film ve püskürtme yöntemleriyle test edilmiştir. Saf su püskürtülmesi şahit kabul edildi. Fenpropathrin+pyriproxifen, acetamiprid ve diafenthiuron'un her iki yöntemde avcı, D. catalinae'nın larva ve ergin dönemlerine zararlı olduğu, Pyriproxifen'in ise püskürtme yöntemiyle zararsız ancak kuru film yöntemiyle erginlere zararlı olduğu belirlendi. Pyriproxifen'in kuru film yöntemi uygulamasında canlı kalan az sayıda D. catalinae erginlerinin bırakmış oldukları yumurtalar açılmalarına rağmen yumurtadan çıkan larvalar ergin dönemlerine ulaşamadılar. Sonuç olarak chlorfenapyr'in her iki yöntemde D. catalinae'nin ergin ve larvalarına zararsız olduğu, buna karşılık fenpropathrin+pyriproxifen, acetamiprid, diafenthiuron ve pyriproxifen etkili maddelerini ihtiva eden insektisitlerin beyazsineklerin D. catalinae ile yürütülen biyolojik mücadele programında kullanılamayacağı ortaya konmuştur.Toxicological effects of selected insecticides, fenpropathrin+pyriproxifen, acetamiprid, diafenthiuron, pyriproxifen, and chlorfenapyr were tested by direct spray and dry film methods in the laboratory against adult and larvae (L3-L4) of Delphastus catalinae (Horn) (Col., Coccinellidae), a predator of whiteflies, including cotton whitefly, Bemisia tabaci (Genn.). Water was used as untreated control. Fenpropathrin+pyriproxifen, acetamiprid, and diafenthiuron were harmful to larvae and adults of D. catalinae in both methods. Pyriproxifen was to be seemed harmless to adults in direct spraying technique; however it was harmful to the adults in dry film method. Eggs laid by a few adults which developed pyriproxifen treated larvae failure to hatch in dry film method. In conclusion, chlorfenapyr was innocuous to larvae and adults of D. catalinae in both methods. Fenpropathrin+pyriproxifen, acetamiprid, diafenthiuron and pyriproxifen would be incompatible with biological control of whitefly by D. catalinae

    Dâhilde işleme rejimi teşvik sisteminin bitkisel yağ endüstrisinde uygulanması : Türkiye örneği

    Bu çalışma, bitkisel yağ üretimi ve dış ticareti yapan işletmelerde dâhilde işleme rejiminin uygulanabilirliği ve etkilerinin araştırılması amacıyla yapılmıştır. Bu amaçla 26 bitkisel yağ işletmesine yüz yüze ve/veya posta yoluyla anket uygulanmıştır. Anket çalışmasının yanında yağlı tohum ve bitkisel yağlara ait üretim, ihracat ve ithalat verileri yardımcı veri olarak kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde frekans tabloları, yüzde oranlar kullanılmıştır. Ayrıca sektörün güçlü ve zayıf yönleri ile sektördeki fırsat ve tehditlerin belirlenmesi amacıyla GZFT analizi ve bazı değişkenler arasındaki ilişkileri belirlemek amacıyla korelasyon analizi kullanılmıştır. Ankete katılan 25 işletmenin (%96) dâhilde işleme rejiminden faydalandığı belirlenmiştir. Dâhilde işleme rejiminin uygulanmasıyla birlikte işletmelerin hammaddeyi kolay ve ucuz temin eder olduğu, kapasite kullanım oranının arttığı, pazar payı ve ihracat değerlerinin arttığı belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca, bitkisel yağ sanayindeki önemli gider kalemlerinden biri hammadde olup, en önemli sorunların hammaddenin kalite ve miktarındaki yetersizlik ve girdi fiyatlarındaki yükseklik olduğu tespit edilmiştir.This study was conducted to determine applicability of the Inward Processing Regime (IPR) in enterprises which are vegetable oil producers and exporters. The data was obtained from 26 vegetable oil producer and exporter enterprises by using survey method. Frequency tables, indices, and percentage calculating were used to analyse Data. Also, SWOT analysis was used to determine the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in the sector, and relationship among some variables were examined with correlation coefficient. According to research findings, 25 of the enterprises (96%) utilised the IPR. Since the enterprises started to use that system; availability of cheap raw material, rate of capacity utilisation, market share, and export value all have increased. In addition, raw material was found as an important expense item, and the most important problems were qualified as raw material inadequacy and high input prices

The present study provides essential information to devise a pomegranate core germplasm collection without duplication of plant material, to sustainably manage pomegranate breeding programs, and to establish conservation strategies for preserving local pomegranate genetic resources.Turkey has many valuable genetic resources for pomegranate; however, there have not been many studies on the identification and characterization of these important genetic resources. New microsatellite markers were used to characterize a set of 78 pomegranate accessions from Turkey. Using six SSR primers, a total of 41 alleles were characterized with an average of 4.6 alleles per locus and mean probability of identity (PI) value of 0.366. These data indicated a high level of polymorphism in pomegranate germplasm. Five synonymous groups could be detected among 30 accessions. This microsatellite-based key is a first step towards a database for markerassisted identification of pomegranate accessions in Turkey.
