Forest fires represent a significant threat that necessitates the implementation of rapid and accurate early detection systems to mitigate environmental and economic damage. This study develops a forest fire detection system based on the ESP32 microcontroller, employing the Mamdani fuzzy logic method to analyze environmental parameters, namely temperature, air humidity, and gas concentration, as indicators of fire risk. The system is powered by renewable energy sources, including solar panels and lithium batteries, to enable autonomous operation. Sensor calibration was conducted to enhance the precision and reliability of measurements. System testing was performed under various real-world environmental conditions to evaluate its performance. The results demonstrate that the system accurately classifies environmental status into three categories: Safe, Alert, and Danger, with a 100% accuracy rate. Additionally, the system integrates real-time early warning notifications through the Telegram platform, facilitating prompt responses to potential fire incidents. The adaptive nature of the fuzzy logic algorithm allows dynamic adjustment to fluctuations in environmental parameters. Overall, this research confirms the effectiveness of combining Internet of Things (IoT) technologies with fuzzy logic for proactive and reliable forest fire detection.Kebakaran hutan merupakan ancaman yang signifikan sehingga memerlukan penerapan sistem deteksi dini yang cepat dan akurat untuk mengurangi kerusakan lingkungan dan ekonomi. This study aims to evaluate the level of passenger understanding regarding prohibited items in air travel and to assess the effectiveness of information dissemination efforts at BLU UPBU Kelas I Utama Juwata Tarakan Airport. A qualitative descriptive method was applied through observations, structured interviews with aviation security personnel and passengers, surveys using questionnaires distributed to 50 respondents, and documentation analysis from logbooks at Passenger Security Check Points (PSCP). The findings reveal that only 22% of passengers correctly understand regulations regarding prohibited items, while 44% were unsure, and 34% lacked knowledge. In particular, misunderstandings were significant regarding the carriage of lighters and sharp objects, which are consistently the top three confiscated items during security checks. Furthermore, 76% of respondents stated that they find it difficult to access safety-related information at the airport. Current communication methods, such as videotrons, posters, and social media, have not been fully optimized for delivering essential safety messages. The study highlights the need for improved educational strategies using visual aids, digital platforms, and direct communication by airport personnel. These findings underline the importance of more inclusive, accessible, and proactive safety campaigns to increase compliance and ensure safer airport operations

Miscommunication between Aviation Security officers and tenant officers and airline officers at the security check point of Juanda International Airport, Sidoarjo often occurs due to the poor quality of information provided by fellow Aviation Security officers at SCP-1. As a result, officer activities are hampered. This affects staff satisfaction. On this basis, the researcher conducted a study to determine the effect of service quality on staff satisfaction. This study was conducted using a quantitative method where primary data collection was obtained by distributing questionnaires to 100 respondents. Sampling was carried out using the non-probability sampling method. The collected data were then analyzed using simple linear regression, partial test (T test), and coefficient of determination. The results showed that service quality had a significant effect on staff satisfaction at Juanda International Airport, Sidoarjo. This is evident from the statistical analysis carried out, where the calculated t value (9.087) far exceeded the t table value (1.994), with a significance level of 0.00 which is smaller than 0.05. Thus, it can be concluded that the Ha hypothesis in this study can be accepted. In addition, the results of the T-test calculation show that the service quality variable has an influence of 54.8% on the level of staff satisfaction

Are Pathogenic Purity and Sexual Purity shaped by different Psychological Mechanisms?

    No full text
Purity is one of the moral foundations that are formulated in the Moral Foundations Theory by Jonathan Haidt and has been a subject of research in several studies. Considered as a single “moral foundation”, purity relates to concerns about contamination. Usually considered as a homogenous concept, we hypothesise that there are at least two forms of purity norm which are shaped by distinct psychological mechanisms, namely pathogenic purity and sexual purity. To test this hypothesis, we designed a questionnaire with 60 scenarios that depict either sexual purity violations or pathogen purity violations. We predict that at least two factors should emerge that with items conceptually relating to pathogenic purity and sexual purity

Media consumption, health anxiety, and somatic symptoms amid COVID-19

Research has suggested that repeated media exposure to community crisis can lead to increased anxiety with downstream effects on health (Garfin et al., 2020). During the 2014 Ebola outbreak in Western Africa, although risk of infection was low in the United States, a nationally representative study showed that heightened media exposure to Ebola-related stories was associated with increased distress and worry (Thompson et al., 2017). Of particular concern during a public health crisis is the potential emergence or exacerbation of health anxiety, which includes elevated perceived likelihood of illness, anticipated negative consequences of having an illness, and attentional deployment toward bodily sensations (Abramowitz et al., 2007). In addition to psychological distress, research has also revealed an association between health anxiety and physical symptoms, such as stomach pain and headaches (Fergus et al., 2019). However, few studies have examined whether health anxiety serves as a mediator between media consumption and somatic symptoms, particularly in the context of a global pandemic. Further, by using both current and retrospective reports, it may be possible to examine the ways that changes in media consumption, changes in health anxiety, and changes in somatic symptoms are related across time, and before and after the onset of a pandemic. In the current study, we seek to examine the relationship between media consumption, health anxiety, and somatic symptoms in the wake of COVID-19
