The Trail of the Light
No full textThe Trail of the Light is a project focused on composing a musical piece to enhance the impact of a selected short animation. Utilising the Theme and Variations method, I created a composition that seamlessly aligns with the animation’s visuals. The resulting music fits well with the animation, representing a significant milestone in my musical journey. A notable aspect of this project was recording at AIR Studios, an experience that exposed me to world-class recording quality. This project contributed greatly to my growth both as a composer and as an individual. It improved my ability to communicate effectively with visual media and collaborate with others at every stage, from composition to recording. RINGING: A Perspective of Art and the Artist
No full textThis project encompasses the writing, directing, shooting, scoring, editing, acting, sound designing, and both stereo and Dolby Atmos mixing of a 17-minute experimental short film titled Ringing which narrates the story of a musician experiencing hearing loss. Drawing its visual style from films such as Metropolis, Nosferatu, and other German expressionist works, this project seeks to offer an innovative approach to independent audiovisual storytelling. During the creation of this film, significant challenges included developing a malleable storyline that could be restructured without chronological order to create new narratives. Additionally, the project faced the difficulty of honoring its inspirational sources while advancing newer methods of storytelling. The use of monochrome visuals, combined with experimental sounds from synthesizers, was crucial in achieving a cohesive aesthetic. With no dialogue, this film aims to transcend language barriers, allowing audiences from diverse cultures to appreciate it equally. Las Memorias de tu Jardín
No full textThis culminating experience project focuses on the creation of a six-song album composed, produced, recorded and mixed by the author. The album is designed to serve as an homage to those affected by neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer\u27s and Parkinson\u27s within his family, keeping their stories alive. The inspiration behind this project stems from the deeply personal experiences of the author\u27s relatives who have battled these diseases, set against the backdrop of their home country, Mexico.
Each song in the album incorporates a unique blend of sonic elements carefully chosen for their relation to the environment and context of the referred people, including musical instruments and techniques from different regions of the country.
This holistic approach to music composition and production seamlessly integrates cultural and personal elements, creating a touching and multifaceted soundscape, while honoring the lives and memories of his loved ones.

Queration
No full textThis project is a business plan, divided into three adjacent services, targeting B2B live music industry clients.
The first service, Queration, is a venue-fan and promoter-fan communication app, sold to venues and promoters, who then make it available to concert attendees. It offers four core features: The app provides information about the event and venue. It allows to survey fans anonymously about their concert experience, their music consumption habits and their opinions on the artist performing. There is a function for emergency alerts to be sent to venue security. It also offers the possibility for fans to directly communicate with the event organizers.
The second service, Queration+, is an optional add-on to the Queration base app, offering a digital queuing system to fans, facilitating crowd control and minimizing the time fans spend outside of venues.
The third and final service, Queration Trends, is separated from the previous two and sold to all artist-affiliated music industry parties. It presents the survey data from Queration, as well as the location and queuing data from Queration+. No full textFor my Culminating Experience, I co-founded and co-wrote a business plan for Popsical Records, a sub-label under Disrupción Records. The business plan includes an Executive Summary, Company Overview, Business Environment and Customers, Marketing Strategy, Financial Projections, and a Proof of Process which outlines what we have accomplished under Disrupción Records this year.
Popsical Records is an independent record label based in New York City with the goal of transitioning singers with a classical vocal background to the pop and soul genres. As a play on words, Popsical combines the words pop and classical to highlight our connection to refining singers with this skill set. Singers coming from this background often demonstrate a high degree of proficiency but often lack awareness in areas like contemporary songwriting, branding, image, and mainstream trends. Central to this success are the superfans, or stans, whose passionate support drives global engagement and visibility. This research investigates the challenges Korean entertainment companies face when introducing new, westernized artists to the Western music market and explores the critical role of superfans in this process. Through focus groups and qualitative analysis, the study identifies key factors contributing to K-pop\u27s international appeal and examines the specific hurdles in replicating this success with new groups. Additionally, this paper delves into the recent westernization practices that K-pop has undergone, analyzing their impact on the genre and its fanbase. The findings highlight the expectations and influence of superfans on the success of new K-pop groups, assessing whether the traditional K-pop model can effectively resonate with Western audiences. The research aims to analyze how the music industry in Puerto Rico has evolved, focusing on the transition from the prominence of salsa in the 1970s and 1980s to the dominance of reggaeton today.
The study examines various factors that contributed to the success and subsequent decline of salsa, and how reggaeton has managed to become a globally influential genre. It highlights the economic impact of these genres on Puerto Rico\u27s entertainment industry, analyzing public consumption patterns, industry strategies, and the role of key artists. The research also includes interviews with industry professionals and quantitative data from platforms like Spotify and Pandora.

Globalisation vs. Glocalisation: Exploring Streaming, Policy, and Progress in the Australian Music Industry
No full textThe last official figures of domestic music consumption within Australia were published by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) in 2016. These figures stated that Australian music only represented 13.4% of music consumed by Australian audiences. The Australian music industry is currently experiencing uncertainty. In a constantly globalising world with more music access and an overwhelming dominance of English-speaking markets, Australia’s consumption of their local music is almost non-existent. The Australian music industry is being inhibited by globalisation, and overrun by American content, when it should be glocalising and celebrating its own music. Using data from both Spotify and ARIA charts to analyse the consumption of Australian music within Australia, and interviews with Australian music industry professionals, this investigation finds that Australians are listening to a very small amount of local music. Additionally, through an exploration of music policy – using examples from Australia and around the world – this research establishes that music policy is key in increasing the consumption of domestic catalogue, is a driver in cultivating music industries, and its role should be reassessed within the Australian music landscape.https://remix.berklee.edu/graduate-studies-global-entertainment-business/1392/thumbnail.jp
Artistic Reinvention Within The Global Jazz Soundscape
No full textIn her Culminating Experience Project, “Artistic Reinvention Within The Global Jazz Soundscape,” where 35 musicians came together, Turkish flutist & composer Yağmur Soydemir explores her personal identity and artistic aspirations: Turkish musical traditions rooted in her cultural heritage, Western Classical Music, of which she has 20 years of deep study, and Global Jazz concepts, alongside a fusion of various genre influences. During her time at the Berklee Global Jazz Institute, her mentors provided an unprecedented level of artistic freedom, allowing her to reconnect with her country’s traditional music, gain a new perspective and an artistic voice that integrates all aspects of her identity into her compositions and flute performances. As a woman in jazz, a foreigner, and an immigrant in many countries, her vision and hope through this project is to undertake a journey of self-exploration and artistic reinvention.
