Atlas: A Dual Journey in Music Production and 360 Degree Space Visualization

    No full text
This project culminates in producing an extended play (EP) for the musician Synnx alongside a single track integrated into a Dolby Atmos format with an accompanying 360-degree video. This fusion creates a multidimensional artistic experience. The Atlas EP features complex orchestral arrangements and elements reminiscent of an epic cinematic soundtrack, conveying profound emotional depth and exploring complex themes. The endeavor required significant effort in both audio and visual dimensions, resulting in a thoroughly immersive space scene. Several challenges arose throughout the project\u27s development, including time constraints, technical difficulties, and communication issues with collaborating musicians. These obstacles were successfully overcome, creating a unique combination of music and visual art. This achievement underscores the creator\u27s proficiency in music production and visual artistry. Chi-Hsi intends to experiment further with innovative methods of integrating visual elements with musical experiences in the future.https://remix.berklee.edu/graduate-studies-production-technology/1366/thumbnail.jp

    Sandbox Sessions

    No full text
Sandbox Sessions, a collaborative effort with Alex Schindler, is an aspirational offering of natural scenery complimenting After Effects visual mastery all over major social channels. The great outdoors and natural elements will present audiences with the metamorphosis of the natural environment into a visual arts canvas, ultimately directed by these profound, yet graduated, effects. These effects in turn respond to elements that ground and center the music, elements like actually laying down on the ground and lovingly capturing the dance of sunlight on leaves, or the intricate patterns of flowing water. An innovative response to one of the big challenges we face, and a marvelous reminder of the interrelation between art, technology, and the natural world, and the power of social media to reach ours.https://remix.berklee.edu/graduate-studies-production-technology/1371/thumbnail.jp

    Vocal production

Vocal production – a research and development of an original approach to vocal production This project aimed to enhance the author’s approach to vocal production through a combination of research on vocal production and practical experiences gained from both producing vocals for others and being vocally produced by others. It involved a comprehensive exploration of the various stages of vocal production. Starting from the preproduction phase, which involves refining melody lines and lyrics and getting ready for a session, to the engineering and tracking vocals where the author selects the appropriate microphone for the singer and manages Pro Tools sessions, to leading and overseeing a vocal session, and finally the mixing stage where the author developed a vocal processing chain. Additionally, the study delved into the experiences of singers and focused on their needs to deliver the best vocal performances in the studio. The primary objective of this research was to deepen the author’s understanding of vocal production processes and refine methods for his future work as a vocal producer.https://remix.berklee.edu/graduate-studies-production-technology/1376/thumbnail.jp

    Wrapped

    No full text
This paper aims to demonstrate the inspiration, purpose, and development of my score for the animated short film Wrapped . I will communicate my compositional process, influences, approach to the mock-up, preparation for the recording, and postproduction. I will explore each element essential for effectively combining music with visual media and the significance and impact it has on a given picture. Through this, I intend to share my process and attitude towards the craft. Wrapped is an animation depicting the gradual and dramatic decline of the world through a timelapse. The filmmakers Roman Kälin, Falko Paeper, and Florian Wittmann describe their work as follows: “The deterioration of one is the foundation of another\u27s life. The world, with its never-ending interplay of eating and being eaten, takes on new dimensions when the unexpected forces of nature clash with the existing structures of our civilization. What was meant for eternity, melts away in seconds. The only constant is change.” Wrapped is a dramatic and meaningful animation that offers a thought-provoking message - ‘time is of the essence’. Given the current global climate of extreme turbulence and change, this seemed like an entirely appropriate topic for my Culminating Experience project.https://remix.berklee.edu/graduate-studies-scoring/1249/thumbnail.jp

The Final Days Of Lycoming Mall

    No full text
The Final Days of Lycoming Mall is an energetic workplace comedy set in one of the dullest spaces in the United States: a dead Mall in northern Pennsylvania. It tells the story of three of the last remaining Mall employees and the risks they have to take to build better lives for themselves. Ben, a relocated T-Mobile employee, is desperate for direction and needs community. Frank, a cashier at his Mom’s restaurant, needs to start his adult life and reconnect with the woman he loves. Sofia, the manager at Burlington Coat Factory, needs to conquer her fear of failure to become the leader that she is capable of being. All of these struggles come to a head when the Mall’s CEO sells the Mall to a storage company, an action that would displace all of the remaining employees. Set to an infectious 1980’s synth-pop score, the show highlights the importance of taking control of your career path and illuminates the glory days of Mall culture before they fade into memory.https://remix.berklee.edu/graduate-studies-cmat/1020/thumbnail.jp

“Gateway” explores the integration of live music with digital media, advancing live performance through technological innovation. This project, part of my Master’s thesis at BerkleeNYC, combines my background in classical piano with digital tools to create an immersive audio-visual experience. It investigates the relationship between human creativity and artificial intelligence, merging organic and synthetic elements. “Gateway” aims to expand the conventional boundaries of musical performances by incorporating real-time audio-reactive visuals, which enhance the engagement and experience of the audience. The endeavor synthesizes my educational experiences at Berklee, challenging the traditional approaches to music performance and pushing forward the use of visual technology in artistic expression. Feedback from audiences underscored the project’s reception, noting the effective blend of music with visual elements. “Gateway” represents an exploration into the potential of new technologies to transform artistic expression and sets a foundation for ongoing innovation in multimedia performance.https://remix.berklee.edu/graduate-studies-cmat/1040/thumbnail.jp
