Assessing the Mental Health Conditions of Filipino High School Teachers

This study explored their socio-demographic and socio-economic profiles, along with emotional, social, and behavioral mental health indicators. It assessed differences in these indicators across demographic groups and examined how mental health parameters correlate with these factors. Employing a descriptive- correlational research design, data were collected from high school teachers (N=34) using a validated survey questionnaire. Descriptive statistics, mean and standard deviation, and t-test Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) were carried out to analyze the data. The study reveals a predominantly young (71% aged 18–30), female (71%), and single (76%) teaching workforce, with moderate income levels (59% earning Php 21,000–30,000 monthly) and mid-level experience (65% with 1–10 years of service). While mental health levels were generally normal, moderate stress emerged in areas like reactivity and relaxation, suggesting job-specific pressures. Notably, no significant mental health differences were found across demographics, indicating resilience or balanced support systems. High job and communication satisfaction contrasted with moderate compensation satisfaction, revealing a potential retention risk. Strong correlations linked lower stress to higher job satisfaction and better communication, while social/organizational factors positively shaped compensation perceptions—highlighting non-monetary influences on remuneration satisfaction. Recommendations include: (1) institutionalizing mental health support (counseling, mindfulness training); (2) enhancing communication transparency (anonymous feedback systems); (3) integrating compensation strategies with cultural investments (recognition programs); and (4) teacher-led peer support networks. Future research should investigate workload impacts and test targeted interventions to break stress-communication cycle

This study aims to assess the accuracy of syndrome management in diagnosing cervicitis caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG) or gonorrhea and Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) or chlamydia in pregnant women with vaginal discharge complaints, by comparing the accuracy of symptom-based syndrome management with an etiology-based laboratory approach. A Systematic Literature Review was conducted, searching five databases: PubMed, Cochrane, Google Scholar, and Garuda. The inclusion criteria included studies on pregnant women, comparisons between syndrome-based and laboratory-based management, and the presentation of diagnostic accuracy (sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value). The quality of the studies was critically appraised using the QUADAS-2 instrument, and results were synthesized narratively. From the literature search, 673 studies were identified, of which 2 met the eligibility criteria for final analysis. The analysis revealed that syndrome management had low sensitivity (18–45%), moderate to high specificity (69–83%), low positive predictive value (10–24%), and high negative predictive value (77–92%). Syndrome-based management was found to be less accurate in detecting cervicitis, especially in asymptomatic cases, potentially leading to under-treatment or over-treatment. In contrast, laboratory-based etiology approaches such as NAAT demonstrated higher accuracy and are recommended as a more reliable diagnostic method

Methane Leak Quantification on Edge Devices Using Deep Learning

Oil and gas domain deals with a varied set of problems ranging from methane leaks to prognostics and health management. This study demonstrates a solution to identify whether there is a methane leak or not and classify on what level the leak occurs based on different flow rates (5.3 g/h – 2051.6 g/h) at 5 distances (4.6 m - 15.6 m), using various spatial and temporal preprocessing techniques and deep learning models. For this study, we are using the GasVid methane leak dataset which consists of videos taken from infrared cameras on 2 different separators with a frame rate of 15 frames per second. Firstly, we applied a series of preprocessing steps, including contrast enhancement, Gaussian blur, three different background subtraction methods, namely moving average background subtraction method, KNN Gaussian mixture model, and Gunnar Farneback optical flow analysis. To save computational resources, temporal down-sampling was applied on the video frames. Thereafter, experiments were conducted using the 3D CNN model by modifying hyperparameters. It was found that on comparing the Adam and Lion (EvoLved Sign Momentum) optimizers, the Lion Optimizer increased accuracy by more than 34% and achieved state-of-the-art accuracy of 41.36% on 4.6 m videos. Further, the moving average background subtraction method\u27s performance surpassed other background subtraction techniques. In addition, applying spatial preprocessing and down-sampling raw videos were compressed from 2.3GB to ~200MB which is a reduction factor of 11
