The Security and Defence Cooperation in the Visegrad Group – Actual and Alternative Formats of Cooperation
In the last 30 years, the Visegrad Group (V4) is identified as the most noticeable and constant format of regional cooperation between states in Central Europe and a significant collective player. All four countries from the V4 are able to function as separate actors in different policies and activities, but their perception as a group of countries is more emphasized in the presentation of V4 as a successful model of cooperation. In a various occasions its existence has been challenged by other forms of regional cooperation, but the V4 remained stable through the years. In recent decade, all four member states of the Visegrad Group have experienced the possible creation of parallel regional alliances that could offer them a new platform if any of them decide to leave the Visegrad Group. The paper sections focus on the security aspects of cooperation. It locates the beginnings of their regional cooperation and the possible effects of future cooperation alternatives regarding their security policy. The paper also analyzes their mutual relationship and their relations with other forms or models of security and defence cooperation in Europe, emphasizing the changes that happened in the last decades in the fields of security and defence. The paper also deals with the successes and failures of their security cooperation so far and the future security challenges for the V4 countries
Quality of Cherry and Large Tomato Fruits Influenced by Varieties and Rootstocks
Currently, the main challenge is to improve crops’ performances under a wide array of suboptimal growth conditions. In tomato production, grafting is one of tools increasing fruit quality. It depends on variety and rootstock selection. In this aim different combinations of rootstock-variety of tomato were studied in order to determine the induced changes on tomato quality. Experimental design including six rootstocks-Variety combinations was conducted. Four tomato varieties (Sweetle, SanPaulo, Angel a cherry tomatoes and Pulia a large tomato) and two rootstocks (Maxifort and Integro) were combined.
Physical characteristics (shape, weight) and chemical composition (Brix, pH, polyphenol, protein) characterization of different combinations were compared. Results showed that large fruits presented the lowest firmness, polyphenol, protein and Brix values. Variety influenced significantly all the studied parameters. However rootstocks influenced significantly firmness, shape index, width, CE and polyphenols at P<0,05.
All tomatoes fruits have the same protein contents approximately 717 mg/100g FW revealing the high quality and important nutritional value of geothermal tomato of western south of Tunisia. Sweetel variety grafted on Maxifort presented the highest polyphenol content

Agricultural Credit Accessibility Determinants: Evidence from Ghanaian Smallholder Farmers
Agricultural credit is an essential input along with modern technology for increased in farm productivity hence serves as an intervention to eradicate rural poverty and increase in agricultural growth. It is believed that smallholder farmers growth in farm production will depend on the availability of agricultural credit. The study assessed on the heterogeneous effect of the factors on the source of agricultural credit (formal and informal) and the gender composition. The study utilized the quantitative research design, a total of four hundred (400) participants were randomly sampled from 4 selected districts and municipalities in the Eastern region of Ghana (Asuogyaman, West-Akim, Suhum and Birim South). A statistical test like the binary logistics regression model was used to predict whether or not smallholder farmers’ access to agricultural credit in the formal and informal source of credit and the gender composition is influenced by the determinants considered for the study. According to the findings of this study, it can be concluded that a lot of factors influence the smallholder accessibility to agricultural credit.
The model showed a significant relationship between the determinant and accessibility of agricultural credit. This asserts that smallholder farmers’ accessibility of agricultural credit depends on these determinants for the purpose and the study area. The study, therefore, suggests that suppliers, borrowers and other interested stakeholders should be able to improve and intervene in the financial inclusion as well as that stakeholders in the agricultural industry such as MOFA, NGOs, FAO etcetera should include in their sensitization programs ways of enhancing farmers to adopt better farm management practices since they are variables influencing farmers used of agricultural credit

Peri-Urban Agriculture and its Impacts on Smallholder livelihoods in Arusha, Tanzania
Urban population in Tanzania is increasing alarmingly, creating an increased demand for food by both peri-urban and urban dwellers. Meeting this demand has been challenging, and thus, this research examined the existing farming systems in peri-urban areas and how these farming systems contribute to smallholder livelihoods. Data were collected using mixed research methods, namely, an in-depth interview with an extension officer, a focus group of 8 farmers, and a household survey of 150 farmers. Initially, the data were analysed using descriptive statistics and then the association between variables were explored using chi-square and Spearman’s rank-order correlation analysis. The peri-urban farming area per household is small with a quarter to one acre but their farming systems had both livestock and crops. Although there are no specific policies on peri-urban agriculture, households have changed their farming practices due to government and private sector interventions. It was revealed that peri-urban agriculture provides food and is the main source of income for the smallholders that helps cover health and education costs. The livelihood forms of capital varied across the study area with some having more forms of capital than others. Given the significance of peri-urban agriculture among smallholders in the study area, it is recommended that coordinated support mechanisms are developed to enhance the production and marketing
