    Application of Several Post-Harvest Processing Technologies to Several Types of Coffee Plants (Coffea sp)

    So far, post-harvest processing of people\u27s coffee is usually always a drying process using sunlight, the drying process is usually carried out for 15 to 17 days until a moisture content of 18 to 20% is reached. But if the rainy season takes up to 3 weeks more and this results in the quality of the coffee being not good because it is moldy and smells bad. In post-harvest handling, especially the drying process remains a problem in the field. Post-harvest processing of coffee in the small and medium coffee industry usually uses several methods, including: honey process, honey wet hulling process, natural process, full wash process, semi wash process and wine process. In addition to the processing after harvest, the type of variety harvested also greatly affects the quality of the crop. Arabica and Robusta coffee plants provide different tastes, aromas, levels of acidity for coffee lovers so that there is competition for market interest which also encourages farmers to plant Arabica and Robusta coffee. The purpose of this research is to get the best post-harvest coffee processing method according to the taste expected by consumers. From the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the processing method greatly influences the taste of the coffee, both Arabica coffee powder and Robusta coffee powder. The best post-harvest processing of coffee according to the taste expected by consumers with the honey method for both Arabica and Robusta coffee. This is influenced by the mucilage in coffee beans containing mucilage which gives rise to its own taste in the final result of coffee powder

    Effects of the Gradual Incorporation of Cajanus Cajan Leaf Meal in the Diet of Laying Hens of the Lohman Brown Strain

    In order to enhance the leaves of Cajanus cajan in the diet of laying hens of the Lohmann Brown strain, a study was carried out at the zootechnics laboratory of the National School of Agronomics and Forestry (ENSAF) of Congo-Brazzaville during the period from January to June 2019. The general objective of this work is to contribute to the search for alternative ways to improve the feeding and productivity of laying hens in Congo. During this study, 40 pullets were divided into four (4) batches of 10 subjects each, subdivided into two sub-batches of 5 pullets of similar weight. Batches corresponding to four food treatments: CC0%, CC5%, CC10%, and CC15% where the flour from the leaves of Cajanus cajan was incorporated respectively at 0%; 5%; 10% and 15% by gradually replacing soybean meal. The food was distributed twice a day and the water ad libitum. It appears from this study that the 10% and 5% treatment gave better results compared to the Control. Statistically, no significant difference was observed between the 5%, 10% and 15% treatments compared to the control. The average live weight observed in animals fed with CC5% experimental food (1803g); CC10% (1904.5g) and CC15% (1904.5g) against 1769.65g for the control. The average daily gain (ADG) was more interesting in the subjects fed with the food containing the flour of the leaves of Cajanus cajan CC15% (17, 79g), 10% (15,30g/J) than in the subjects fed with the CC0% control feed (13.50g/d) The incorporation of up to 15% of Cajanus cajan leaf meal in the feed of laying hens improved the production and coloring of the egg yolk and this in the 10 and 15% treatments

    Risk Factors for Loss to Follow-up of ARV Therapy among HIV/AIDS-infected Patients at Paniai Regency Public Hospital, Central Papua Province

    Background: Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection and AIDS are worldwide issues. In 2018, there were 37.9 million HIV-positive persons worldwide. In Indonesia, 88% of patients (244,142) who had received antiretroviral (ARV) were reported to have been lost to follow up, with up to 23% (55,508) being lost to follow up. Data from Paniai Regency Public Hospital, which is recorded up to 2021, out of 486 who have had ARV therapy, there are 169 (34.8%) loss to follow-up. Objectives: This study aimed to determine risk factors for loss to follow-up of antiretroviral (ARV) therapy among HIV/HIV-infected patients in Paniai Public Hospital, Paniai Regency, Central Papua Province. Methods: This type of research is analytic with a cross sectional study approach. The population is all HIV/AIDS patients receiving ARV therapy with a total sample of 190 people. Data were retrieved from medical record fields. Data were analyzed using chi square, at a significant level of 5%. Result: The results showed that the factors associated with loss to follow-up of ARV therapy at Paniai Regency Public Hospital were education (p-value 0.000; RP = 3.344; 95% CI (2.023 – 5.528), and occupation (p-value 0.000; RP = 2.338, 95% CI (1.663 – 3.288), while factors that were not related to loss to follow-up of ARV therapy were gender (p-value 0.310 or p > ? (0.05); RP; 1.227; 95% CI (0.869 – 1.731) and duration of treatment (p-value 0.473; RP = 0.811; 95% CI (0.531–1.238)

    The Relationship between the Leadership Role and the Performance of the State Civil Apparatus in the Biak Numfor Regency Public Hospital, Papua Province

    Background: It is essential of hospitals to have high performance, and they are also required to have good human resources, which are required for the job of a leader who can guide his people to achieve good performance. Objectives: The purpose of the research was to establish whether or not there is a relationship between the role of leadership and the performance of the State Civil Apparatus at the Public Hospital located in the Biak Numfor Regency of the Papua Province. Methods: This is analytic study utilizing a cross-sectional methodology. Total population of 291 all State Civil Servants of Biak Numfor Regency Public Hospital with an accidental sampling selection of 168 persons. This study was carried out at Biak Numfor Regency Public Hospital in November 2022. A questionnaire was used to collect data, which was then analyzed using the chi square and prevalence ratio. Result: The results of the study obtained factors that were significantly related to the performance of State Civil Apparatus at Biak Numfor Regency Public Hospital, namely: leadership role as educator (p-value 0.000; RP = 2.43 (1.497-3.945), as manager (p-value 0.001; RP =2.369 (1.436-3.910), as an administrator (p-value 0.001; RP = 2.411 (1.4447-4.016), as a supervisor (p-value 0.001 RP =2.43 (1.497-3.495), as an innovator (p- value 0.000, RP = 2.583 (1.535-4.346), and as a motivator (p-value 0.001; RP = 2.369 (1.436-3.910). Meanwhile, the role of leadership as a leader is not significantly related to the performance of State Civil Apparatuses in Biak Numfor Regency Public Hospital ( p-value 0.001; RP = 1.405 (0.854-2.312)

    Contribution to the Taking into Account of Environmental Factors of Vulnerability of Reinforced Concrete Buildings in the City of Douala-Cameroon

    The environment of the city of Douala (humid, porous, sandy-clay soil), plays a determining role on the vulnerability of reinforced concrete constructions, by effects of corrosion of degradations, and destructions of the structures (buildings). Relative Y, the method tree of the causes and the tests pH-metric, granulometric and permeameters , allowed us to seek, to check and to analyze certain environmental factors impacting on the constructions, weakening the concrete and pari cochet , the resistance and the durability of the buildings. To this end, the pH tests of groundwater, springs and industrial discharges, containing chloride ions (Cl-), sulphates and carbon dioxides from heavy rainfall and flooding, attack by an electrochemical mechanism the reinforcement and framework of the constructions. Thus, the results obtained from the tests, demonstrate how the dangerous acids present in water, penetrate into the reinforced concrete to destroy it. The resulting chemical reaction of hydration absorbs the water and swells the concrete to reach the steel, weakening it and destroying the protective film (passivation). The action of water on concrete is declined by absorption, hydrolysis, dissolution, solvation and crystallization. Also, the corrosion rate of materials remaining strongly inherent to the high humidity and PH level ? 6, directly influencing the electrical resistivity conductivity and diffusion of oxygen and carbon dioxide in concrete. As such, the relative humidity (RH) or high water content in concrete and the environment of the site receiving the construction project, produces permeability decreasing effects in the presence of oxygen. These effects contribute to stimulate and increase the corrosion process. Because, water, soil and industrial pollutants, affect the works Given, that it is demonstrated that a quasi-permanent moisture content ? 55% in a porous material such as concrete, leads to the loss of 20 to 30% of its cohesion. Hence, the various forms of degradation and loss of loads suffered by the constructions. To this end, the binder content, mineral additives and the water/cement ratio (W/C), are to be considered for the evaluation, resistance and durability of the constructions. Also, most of the methods used to determine the permeability of porous materials are based on Darcy\u27s law. This is because, in its basic form, the fluid flows through a disc-shaped sample under a pressure gradient. Consequently, in addition to the requirement of carrying out geotechnical studies of materials and soil in accordance with the standards of construction and urban planning, pH metric tests are necessary for the effective consideration of environmental factors to achieve the resilience and durability of reinforced concrete structures. It will be in particular: ( i ) to identify and analyze the impacts of water and soil on reinforced concrete constructions; (ii) to verify and analyze the compliance of the said constructions with the geotechnical and urban planning standards (realization of geotechnical studies and the use of adequate quality materials and qualified manpower); (iii) to contribute to the considerable reduction of the vulnerability of the works to the attacks of the sulphates , for a better safety and durability of the constructions

    The first reading of Asian-Canadian narratives like Joy Kogawa’s Obasan, Hiromi Goto’s Chorus of Mushrooms and Shauna Baldwin’s What the Body Remembers might lead the reader to think that there is but one single dominant theme that one can call it “diasporic melancholia”, yet this is way too confusing. One can underline the overwhelming presence of the two notions of “exile” as well as “silence”. This paper seeks to shed light on the theme of “silence” not only as a consequence of the “diasporic melancholia” characterizing the different characters exposed in contemporary Asian-Canadian literature, but also as a feature distinguishing such ethno-racial stereotypes as “deaf culturalists” and also brings to light an Asian-Canadian quasi-Shakespearean syntax attempting to characterize ethnic minorities’ hybrid identities

    Butyrate Induces Production of Heat Shock Protein 27, 70 and 90 and Protects Against Carbon Tetrachloride Hepatotoxicity in Rats

    The liver plays important roles in the body including blood cell formation, metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins and lipids, detoxification, bile production and excretion, and hepatic regeneration. It is however prone to various hepatotoxins that cause damage and diseases including consumption of alcohol whose toxicity is at an alarmingly increasing prevalence globally. Since both butyrate and heat shock proteins (Hsps) can protect various body systems against several perturbations, we investigated whether butyrate protects the liver against carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) hepatotoxicity via production of Hsps. Rats were treated with sodium butyrate (SB) for 8 days then CCl4 on the 8th day and sacrificed 1 to 2 days later. Sacrificed animals were autopsied, liver samples taken, fixed in formalin and routinely processed. Tissue sections were stained with haematoxylin and eosin or anti-Hsp90, Hsp70 and Hsp27 monoclonal antibodies to assess morphological changes and expression of Hsps. Pretreatment with SB reduced the severity of CCl4 induced hepatotoxicity which was associated with expression of Hsp90, 70 and 27. It is concluded that the protective potency of butyrate against CCl4 hepatotoxicity is mediated, at least in part, through overexpression of Hsps

    Oxidative Stability of Fish Oil And Impact of Oregano Essential Oil on The Prevention of Lipid Oxidation-Study By FTIR-Spectroscopy

    The thermal stability and fatty acid composition of oregano fish oil (FIO) was studied by comparing; pure fish oil, fish oil with 1% oregano oil, fish oil with 2% oregano oil, applying FTIR (Fourier - Transform Infrared) - spectroscopy and GC /MS (gas chromatography - mass spectrometry). The physico-chemical parameters analyzed (value of peroxides, value of iodine (g) and value of acids (mg/g)) have resulted in significant changes in different components of the composition of the year of origin fish, the value of peroxide (mmol/ kg) for pure fish oils, oils with 1% oregano oil, and with 2% oregano oil. Then the iodine value (g) for pure fish oils, oils with 1% oregano oil, and with 2% oregano oil as well as the acidity value for pure fish oils, oils with 1% oregano oil, and with 2% oil oregon. FTIR spectroscopy is an analytical device (method) which clarifies the basic principles of the mechanism of stereo-chemical changes in the analyzed substances, as well as to understand which of the chemical components are responsible for increasing the thermal stability of fish oil. In this study, in addition to the above-mentioned parameters, it was found that temperature (°C) is adequate for increasing the stability of origin fish oil, because this phenomenon corresponds to the processes when oxidation reactions and Maillard reactions form compounds with maximum antioxidant activity (lipid stability)
