UB-FA MIAD School of Interior Architecture [BAB 2023]
The monograph UB-FA MIAD School of Interior Architecture has its primary purpose in education in interior architecture design, presenting the educational model of the University of Belgrade - Faculty of Architecture (UB-FA). It covers the period of the first accredited interior architecture program launched in 2014 at the University of Belgrade. The publication makes a significant contribution by providing a retrospective view of the development of the specific field of interior architectural design at UB-FA, emphasizing the importance of educating interior architects – master engineers in interior design. The seven-year experience during the first accreditation cycle of the Master's study program in Interior Architecture (MIAD) is presented through subject curricula, students' achievements, and results during their studies.
The publication presents the Educational Model of UB-FA MIAD, illustrated with specific tasks and teaching outcomes, accompanied by the authors' review of the educational process and the possibilities for improvement. The evaluation aspect of the teaching process and learning outcomes is a particular focus, demonstrating students' achievements upon completion of their education.
The tendency to enhance the educational model in the field of interior architectural design, in line with the necessary flexibility that follows the trends of contemporary society, represents a significant contribution to a wider field of architectural design. A specific goal of the publication is to promote the UB-FA Master's study program, which focuses on the current field of interior architectural design. Illustrating the learning process and its multi-layered and diverse approach to characteristic topics in architecture and design, the UB-FA MIAD School of Interior Architecture aims to motivate students to pursue formal education in the field of interior architecture.Публикација УБ-АФ МУАД Школа архитектуре унутрашњег простора осветљава развој едукације у области архитектонског пројектовања унутрашњег простора у области виског школства на простору Србије. Global village in architectural theory and practice: Softening liminal conditions
The term global village first appeared in literature around 1960s and continues to develop in various scientific disciplines as a spatial phenomenon that is not defined by borders, but by global culture and the development of contemporary techniques and technologies. Considering the presented concept, the principle of "disappearing borders" is problematized within architectural research through offering an alternative claim about the softening and layering of existing barriers. Barriers in architectural theory have not disappeared, but their existence is continuously transformed from a static element into a permeable and unstable barrier, following the complex needs of modern-day society. Taking into account the previous statement, it can be concluded that the border phenomenon develops typologically and semantically, introducing new classifications of border areas into the theory of architecture. Global culture development can be interpreted as almost dehumanizing through the diminished merit of individual identities, thus creating a specific need to modify the environment and make it personal through the establishment of architectural (physical) boundaries. The proposed hypothesis will be examined by the method of case study and graphic analysis of the meander building facade in New Belgrade’s block 23. The facade is the subject of analysis because it represents a permanent, tangible and recognizable physical barrier between inside and outside, private and public, personal and collective. The paper presents an alternative view of the concept of global village borders, their manifestation and transformation in architectural theory and practice

Learning from Godard: Cinematic Montage as Architectural Research Method
This study will examine the possibility of conducting architectural research through the temporal form of the montage technique – cinematic montage. The subject of this investigation is unquestionably a canonical topic of the architectural discipline – the window. Methodologically similar to an eight-part audio-visual essay by Jean-Luc Godard titled Histoire(s) du cinéma, this design-driven research will study in detail the architectural qualities of various windows within the cinematic space. As a final result, the experiment will present a short film sequence, which an extensive analytical diagram will follow. In this manner, the juxtapositions made in the film sequence through cinematic montage will be revisited and reconceptualised in the diagram space through the drawing process. By analysing the simultaneous design procedures in film sequence and diagram, this research aims to generate new knowledge within the architectural discipline.Learning from Godard: Cinematic Montage as Architectural Research Method, presented at CA²RE AARHUS: EXCHANGING (23–25 March 2023) in Aarhus, Denmark, organised by Aarhus School of Architecture. Panel members: Matthias Ballestrem (Bauhaus Earth Fellowship Program), Peter Bertram (Royal Danish Academy), Marie Frier Hvejsel (Aarhus School of Architecture)
An attempt to locate the Russian spatial planning system within the European planning families
Since the end of the 1980s, several studies have been conducted aiming at understanding the heterogeneity of spatial planning traditions across Europe. Over the years, such studies became more comprehensive and included many European (and not only the European Union) countries. Nevertheless, some parts of Europe (e.g., the Western Balkans or the post-Soviet countries) usually remained excluded from the mentioned studies. To mitigate this gap, the paper focuses on the case of Russia. Using a twofold methodological approach, the paper firstly examines the attributes of Russian spatial planning (through a multi-layered analysis of the socio-economic and institutional settings, the evolution of spatial planning over a century, and contemporary planning instruments and procedures of plan-making), to then compare the attributes of the Russian spatial planning system to the core features of the European planning styles. As a result, the elements of multiple distinct spatial planning styles can be traced in Russian spatial planning: land use management and regional economic planning seem to prevail, whilst comprehensive integrated and urbanism traditions are less represented but not absent. Bearing in mind the complexity of the exercise, this contribution should be considered a preliminary attempt to enlarge the existing comparative studies beyond European countries
From Ordinary to Extraordinary
From Ordinary to Extraordinary The approach of the research design studio is based on the (re)examination of the relationship created by the newly designed architectural interpretations, vis-a-vis the framework of its spatial and programmatic frameworks. The implication of this approach goes beyond the simplified architectural form, but rather emphasizes the design process, borrowing from the qualities of identity from its environment of origin. The studio assignment is a part of a year-round project marking 140 years of friendly relations between Serbia and Japan (1882-2022), gathering experts from both countries, promoting cultural activities and good neighborly relations.

The science of networks : network graphs in urban navigation design problems - movement systems and paths generation [XXVI GA 2023 metaverse]
Within the aim of testing generative computational design methods for design problems at the wider spatial, regional, and urban scale, a specific generative design task has been defined. It has been placed within the interdisciplinary field of urban planning, analytics, and design, computational and data sciences, as well as gaming and spatial experience and scenario construction, targeting particularly one of the territorial systems – mobility and transportation. Due to the fact that such infrastructure represents one of the most developed networks with constant internal and external growth, network science came as a supportive framework for bridging the gap between certain areas of spatial disciplines and data and artificial intelligence disciplines. • • • Generative design problem definition branched along the two tracks. The first one addressed the question of the design of the spatial system of urban and regional mobility, with special regard to its dynamics (growth and restructuring); the Grand Paris Express has been taken as a field of operation. The second addressed the subject of movement path generation within such system, according to the defined criteria, movement scenarios and objectives, and navigation and mobility parameters. • • • The design work (algorithmic artwork), related to the explained project and design task, presents a response to the first of the named tracks—construction of the network pertaining to the spatial system of Paris rail-based urban and regional mobility, which acts as a basic environment for specific network operations and dynamics (such as growth and restructuring), spatial analysis and analytics, as well as the design of various agent activities. The work illustrates topological transformations of the designed network, the way in which it has been labelled and clustered, making it operable for planned spatial operations.Deposited material contains elements of other authors' creative and intellectual work.
