Arhitektura kupole: mapiranje nebeske dubine
It is without doubt that style, as one of the primary artistic categories for Ancient Greeks, is also their legacy to European architecture. The Parthenon represented an example of both the meaning and the scope of style for generations of Modernists. It should not be forgotten that the aims of architecture always went further - beyond stylistic balance - they surpassed and even exhausted themselves, all in an attempt to grasp the idea of the whole. That one and the whole gave, and still give, the basic direction to architecture. The question of modernity has always referred the actual reality to this. Can we observe it differently? Can we design outside of necessity to grasp the whole? Can we understand that necessity differently today? Could an architectural act be part of the whole while maintaining its own wholeness? The answers might be found on the path of their morphological origin, the path taken by many a ‘forgotten’ Modernist. Modernism was indeed invited to answer these global questions for the first time. The story of globalization in architecture was never anything but a story of the whole within itself, to which the modernist idea of the general within the particular belongs. The modernist attempt to answer this question refers to the ornament, but from todays perspective it seems that the answer always lay in the geometry. The origin of such striving of architecture is visible in Ancient Greece, even if not exactly at the point to which Le Corbusier turned in his Voyage d’Orient. Seemingly, all roads do lead to Rom
National Land Use Code [studija]
In this publication, the results of activities on modernisation and improvement of spatial and
urban planning methodology are presented. This ensures a kind of standardisation in order to
harmonise the categories of land use, as well as the use of planning symbols. At the same time,
a standardised framework for the digital preparation of planning documents is created, and
clear and transparent criteria for the implementation of planning documents are introduced. This will also improve the public participation in the process of preparation and implementation of planning documents and enable better archiving of planning documents in order to facilitate the use of data from the planning documents. The ultimate goal in the future is to unify the data from the Real Estate Cadastre and planning documents, so that they become open to public and available in an electronic form in such a way that information about the possibilities and
limitations of construction can be obtained for each cadastral plot. Furthermore, the data about
the prohibition of construction, if it is the matter of protected area under certain protection regimes or if it is the matter of land where no construction is planned, will be made available in a clear and unambiguous manner. This will create a transparent system in the planning and
construction process, all with the aim to timely prevent and completely eradicate irregularities in
the Republic of Serbia, such as construction without corresponding permits or construction that
is in contradiction with the relevant permit and planning documents.

Contextualization оf Flow аnd Void in Aesthetic Reading оf Architecture: ”Mostar” Interchange in Belgrade
The new cultural phenomena resulting in global technological, political and economic changes, are creating the potentials of the new meanings and interpretations of contemporary context, trough architecture and aesthetic object dematerialization and perceptual effects overproduction. Contemporary context of global informational, communicational, spatial networks requires a processes of constant flows and dynamics. Therefore, urban structure elements are transformed into the qualities that have fluid character and on the other affirming sensuality of empty and unused space. The aim of this paper is to explore the new qualities and potentials of produced state, relying on aesthetic reading of spaces of flows and voids, created as a result of the needs of the contemporary context. Aesthetic potentials of flows refer not only to the physical movement, but also the perceptual experience of movement and visual experience created in movement. Voids, as omitted and functionally undefined phenomena are the space product of flows, which as such open possibilities of subjective experience and use. In contrast to dynamic experiences that flow products, void overlaps multitude of experiences in one place. The paper is based on the study of ”Mostar” Interchangespace in Belgrade, former symbol of the city modernization and networking, today understood as a specific urban landscape of space flows and its associated voids. In addition, in this research contextualization is interpreted by reading the new sense of perceptively, sensory and experiential values of this area. Aesthetic potentials are interpreted through the collecting and overlapping pictures of visual perceptual experiences, analysed by technique of collage and video.
Problematika bývania v šesdesiatych rokoch 20. storočia v Belehrade: sprostredkovanie individuálneho a kolektívneho
Architecture and ambience of the low-rise high-density single-family housing estate Petlovo Brdo in Belgrade, Serbia (1967-69), relate everyday social production of space in socialism as a contemporary vernacular outcome of the notions of the folkloric and the peripheral. Socio-spatial balance between the individual and the communal, pursued by the estate’s architects Elsa and Branislav Milenković, is achieved by variation of seven apartment types in four house types and their diverse grouping in immediate neighbourhoods with pedestrian circulation. Architectural design upholds modular coordination, apartments’ use-value as a function of layout disposition, environmental mindfulness and aesthetic of domesticity and small scale urbanity
Preservation of authentic expression of prefabricated concrete facades - case study: residential building in block 29, New Belgrade
Concrete and brick were typical materials of building fabric of multifamily residential buildings from Belgrade, from the 1960s until the 1980s. This was the period of intensive building construction, supported and financed by the state, when new parts of the Belgrade were erected, and New Belgrade was one of such new residential settlements. High intensity of construction that was typical for the period in question was followed by the application of various prefabricated construction systems that offered possibilities of creating diverse design solutions.
Nowadays efforts to improve the quality of existing residential buildings through the implementation of energy rehabilitation measures, raises the question of the need for preservation of original appearance. When such need exists, usual energy renovation measures such as addition of external thermal insulation and finishing layers are not considered appropriate. Therefore, such buildings seek for other type of intervention on the existing building fabric.
Having this in mind, this paper presents a case study of one of the residential buildings from the Block 29 in New Belgrade, designed by the Serbian architects Milosav Mitić and Mihailo Čanak during the 1960s.Thanks to its architectural values, today this blockhas the status of previous protection.Three main types of materialisation prevail on the building’s façade planes: concrete prefabricated elements with ceramic tiles as finishing, elements with exposed concrete and bricks applied on the walls. Today this building is approximately 50 years old, so the prefabricated facade elements are not in good condition and needs to be
repaired, but the building as a whole also needs to be energy renovated. Taking it all into account, problems and potential solutions of energy renovation and repair of prefabricated concrete facades that preserve their original appearance are examined on the example of the selected residential building

The impact of architectural and urban patterns on the behaviour of an exhibited angular size-illusion
This paper continues a research in which it has been confirmed that the angular size-illusion underpins a contradictory effect related to a seeming size-decrease of focused architectural and urban objects as the observer approaches them. It explores the impact of various architectural and urban patterns on the behavior of an angular size-illusion noticeable during movement. To obtain sustainable conclusions, real locations are selected and simplified. Simplification criteria are defined respecting the preconditions necessary to trigger such an illusion. Also, two groups of parameters are formulated, both as illusion quantifiers and illusion qualifiers (such as descriptors and determinants). By analyzing the illusion quantifier's conduct, the established valorization criteria allowed the methodological investigation of influences of illusion determinants on the descriptor's behavior. The outputs-based conclusions are generalized in a form applicable to contemporary architectural and urban practice, making it possible to estimate and control the behavior of the illusion in reality
Nail metal connector plate - experimental determination of load-bearing capacity of timber member connections
This paper demonstrates the results of experimental determination of load-bearing capacity of structural timber member connections realized by nail metal connector plates which represent a new type of mechanical fasteners in load-bearing timber structures. The application of this type of metal connector should eliminate weakness of the standard metal connector plates produced by sheet perforating and pulling the teeth perpendicular to a sheet plane. The aim of the conducted experimental study was to determine the load-bearing capacity of connections realized by nail metal connector plates, in accordance with the provisions of Eurocode 5. Experimental testing was conducted by loading of multiple samples up to the limit bearing capacity of connection realized by nail metal connector plate. Discussion of the test results included the analysis of the limit bearing capacity of connection for different values of connection displacements, comparison of the obtained results with characteristic load-bearing capacity of standard type of metal connectors and with load-bearing capacity of nails calculated in accordance with limit state theory. Review of the determined limit bearing capacities of realized connections was given in the conclusion, together with the comment on test results, for the purpose of improving the application of metal connectors in modern systems of timber structures
Redefinisanje prostora savremenog konteksta grada - kretanje i percepcija kao vidovi dostupnosti
The aim of this paper is research of the potential and redefining of space of the contemporary urban context, by recognizing movement and senses as principles of accessibility and affirmation of the neglected values of the city in regard to design aspects. A global context of networking transforms a modern city into processes of busy lifestyle, which neglect diversity and senses. Flows and networking, as the carriers of this context, despite their goal to create a connection between the global and the local and establish equality of all users, generate local separation and segregation, eliminating specific local traits and individual needs, thus neglecting individual units of space, social groups and subjects. The consequences of the city developing in this way are spatial fragments not connected to a network and not defined, and on the other hand neglected in a way that leads to specific environmental and sensory values, which under contemporary conditions propagate subjectivity, different impressions and effects. This spatial potential becomes recognized, distinguished and accessible through design methods and principles of inclusive design. The paper uses the methodology of the subject Access to All, a part of the Master studies programme at the Faculty of Architecture, as well as students' research on the topic of inclusion and equal accessibility of the city's potential through projects and design. Ovi prostorni potencijali postaju prepoznati, naglašeni i dostupni putem projektantskih metoda i principa inkluzivnog dizajna.
Razvoj tehnika građenja u stambenoj arhitekturi Beograda tokom 19. i početkom 20. veka
Due to the radical political, economic and social changes of the 19th century Belgrade saw a complete transformation from a ruined Ottoman town into a modern European one. Liberation from Turkish rule and stabilisation of political and economic conditions influenced the population growth and intensified building activity. Like other European capitals, Belgrade was being transformed architecturally and in its urban plan, gradually losing traits of an Oriental town. The adoption of new building techniques in the 19th century was a way for local civil engineering to harmonise with engineering practices of the developed Central European countries which had by then already adopted masonry structure. The article studies the transition in building forms from Oriental ones, largely charatcterised by timber-framed systems, to a brick-based construction system. This paper is part of a wider, more comprehensive research on building techniques in Belgrade’s residential architecture, undertaken to define the typology of construction systems, in order to evaluate the quality of residential comfort in the buildings of Belgrade.
