Насеља у брдско-планинским подручјима: између глобалних трендова, потреба и реалних могућности развоја

Spatial planning, architecture, sustainability of plans and strategies, the availability of services and even the development of infrastructure can not be a guarantee for the sustainable development of a settlement. These aspects can not stop demographic movements on the village-city relation, nor have they ever been able to do so through history. But a crucial role and place in all of this has a policy which represents the cohesion factor to a large extent and can influence the creation of a favorable business environment, advancing any further development processes. The relevance of the existence of a clear and reasoned development policy should be reflected primarily in the provision of adequate living conditions of the remaining population in that area where in a certain way can also stimulate part of the population that does not have a pronounced tendency to migration. The adoption of new socio-economic trends and patterns has triggered a whole series of changes at a wider social level. Settlements in the mountainous areas, that most often belong to the category of the least developed, as a consequence of global trends are characterized as spaces of special natural, in some cases created, values and their future is, accordingly, most often related to tourism. By analyzing the development plans and strategies, the impression is that all settlements belonging to this category should base their economic potential on the development factors of tourism activity. The question arises as to whether something is so realistic in practice and, above all, necessary. The research seeks to point out some modalities and examine the possibilities of revitalization of settlements in mountainous areas, bearing in mind the large number of these settlements in the Republic of Serbia.

A new dialogue between the past and future - the archaeological site of Viminacium, within the new national and international frameworks

    Get PDF
The main subject of the paper is the archaeological site of Viminacium, in Serbia, being, from 2015, on the UNESCO Tentative List, as a part of the monument Frontiers of the Roman Empire – WHS FRE. The aim of the paper is to present its wider context with protection and presentation processes which can not follow consistently stated principles of authenticity and integrity. Historical destructions caused the ruined state of the ancient structures, while open pit mining, conducted on the site, has made in situ presentation of many buildings impossible. These processes decrease the authenticity of the site and limit the possibilities for its preservation. However, on the other hand, they also create a reason for the establishment of a new concept for its presentation. The paper introduces Viminacium as a part of an ancient cultural route, the World Heritage Site, but also of a cultural landscape, aiming to improve its position within national and international frameworks, resulting in an increased visitor flow

Transnational Cooperation in Europe: The Example of Integrated Spatial and Transport Development along the Hamburg-Athens Corridor

    Get PDF
As defined by the European Commission, the Hamburg–Athens Corridor is one of the most significant European transportation axes. It is one of the key areas for international investments in transportation hubs and lines; however, it coincides with the Western Balkan and Eastern Mediterranean migration routes. Global issues, hence, make the Hamburg–Athens Corridor a key strategic area in Europe. As paper presents the results of the initial phase of the European project on transnational cooperation in the domain of integrated spatial and transport development along the Hamburg–Athens Corridor, the overview of the results is given as follows. Firstly, the paper presents the main trade, economic and demographic statistic indicators in order to clarify the strategic position of Europe against transcontinental relations. Secondly, major findings on infrastructural, economic and demographic parameters relevant for the countries along the Hamburg–Athens Corridor are indicated. Finally, a close interaction between transport and spatial development in the cities along the corridor is briefly presented. Such a multi-scalar perspective gives a hint on the dynamics of transnational cooperation (in broader terms), as well as the cooperation process among many stakeholders from various domains, mainly transportation and spatial planning (in narrow terms)

Enhancing Local Identity through Fostering Research‐based Education in Architecture

    Get PDF
This paper emerged from the strong belief in the importance of research-based education for enhancing local identity in modern architectural practice and education of young architects today. It proposes an alternative teaching approach, introduced at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Belgrade, in the academic years 2014/15 and 2015/16. The main argument presented in the paper is: In order to strengthen the role of architectural history in education and in the profession, content-based teaching should be replaced with pedagogical experimentation, having an emphasis in converting from teaching to learning

    No full text
The objective of this study is to establish a methodology for temporary protective structures, that is, the guidelines for planning, design, and implementation of future protective structures. The basic method of this paper was the observation and analyses of temporary protective structures as well as the evaluation of the results achieved in implementation of these rules in completed structures, within the Hilandar Monastery complex on Mount Athos, in Greece. Mount Athos was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List for its cultural and natural values. The Holy Mount Athos is a unique monastic complex in the world and only males are allowed past the entrance. Having performed the evaluation of certain types of temporary protective structures, the given results were offered as recommendation for their design and implementation. The most significant accomplishment of this paper is verification of the designed, calculated, and completed protective structures through practical application within the Hilandar Monastery complex, in accordance with all the factors of site management
