Syntactic aspects of hypergraph polytopes
This paper introduces an inductively defined tree notation for allthe faces of polytopes arising from a simplex by truncations. This notation al-lows us to view inclusion of faces as the process of contracting tree edges. Ournotation instantiates to the well-known notations for the faces of associahedraand permutohedra. Various authors have independently introduced combina-torial tools for describing such polytopes. We build on the particular approachdeveloped by Doˇsen and Petri ́c, who used the formalism of hypergraphs to de-scribe the interval of polytopes from the simplex to the permutohedron. Thisinterval was further stretched by Petric to allow truncations of faces that arethemselves obtained by truncations, and iteratively so. Our notation applies toall these polytopes. We illustrate this by showing that it instantiates to a no-tation for the faces of the permutohedron-based associahedra, that consists ofparenthesised words with holes. Dosen and Petric have exhibited some familiesof hypergraph polytopes (associahedra, permutohedra, and hemiassociahedra)describing the coherences, and the coherences between coherences etc., arisingby weakening sequential and parallel associativity of operadic composition. Wecomplement their work with a criterion allowing us to recover the informationwhether edges of these “operadic polytopes” come from sequential, or fromparallel associativity. Diagrammatics: Design Intelligence Strategy in Design Research and Science [predavanje po pozivu štampano u izvodu]
As a specific ‘diagrammatic documentality and inscription’ (logic and dynamics), ‘design intelligence strategy’ has been proposed as a possible modality of architecturally constructed research framework and digital cognitive/memory extension applied in order to facilitate dealing with any kind of documentary or creative practice with data and scientific problematization within the field of design research and science. It has been given the status of a ‘diagram'—an active principle and manner or (meta-, inter-, and intra-cognitive) register of knowledge production, critique, evaluation, and advancement, world construction, data compression and articulation—all towards problem-solving through its specific diagrammatic visual semiotics and inferencing. This study explores the eleven-degree set of properties by which it has been constituted: 01. meta-level processing, the post-disciplinary metacognition strategy; 02. diagrammatics and diagrammatic thinking strategy; 03. timelines and palimpsest strategies: macro-historical and micro-historical inferencing; 04. topological thinking; 05. networking strategy; 06. spatial thinking: datascaping and mapping (data-architecture strategy); 07. memory palace strategy; 08. quantum logic decidability; 09. dynamic complexity and adaptability strategies; 10. data forensics: information reliability and validation; and 11. creative interactive thinking. • • • The title “Frequencies“ refers to the theoretical and experimental research of the measuring system that makes multisensorial spatial awareness, invisible communication, and data transfers more comprehensible and through which different objects and their activities within the environment could be identified. Relevant information has been mapped on the multi-frequency band scale (or diagram), which has specifically been constructed to facilitate all the planned inquiries and explain them. The scale (or control platform and unit in the applied form) records the complete spectrum of the chosen physical parameters in order to register frequency overlapping, instruments and devices that operate in particular ranges, as well as their location (global position) and activity. Registered properties and objects are tracked so as to be used as inputs for spatial and architectural design matters and integration; they become one of the important architectural design motives. Frequency metrics (and information) give precise indices to phenomena that are otherwise identified only through subjective descriptive forms or that stay out of the range of detectability by the human sensory system. • • • [Exo] design and technical solution represents the part of the Design Research Lab initiative, and is related to previous theoretical studies that include the following: 01. engineering, technology, arts and sciences integration, and broader cross-disciplinarity – their history and contemporary lines of development (Source: Ciric, D. 2017. [celestial dynamics]: new atlases). • • • The subtitle “Intelligent Sensing—Architectural Integration” implies the system’s full sensory and/or sentient capacity that will be developed in the final phase. It targets one of the methods of environmental data acquisition, which relies on a system of sensors embedded into the instrument. This system enables the architecture of the instrument to act and move based on a detected, measured, filtered, processed, analysed, categorised, and articulated spectrum of signals and parameters from the environment, having other two methods that use processed data (data automatically acquired through installed software and data collected from reliable internet sources) and that have been used thus far as complementary or alternative. • • •. Based on acquired data, each actuator of the instrument (either responsible for the range or the targeted objects and frequency domain, or one specific object) transforms the selected information into the kinetic response, showing the present activity within the environment. In the final phase, the system should be able to archive, inform about, and control the invasive impact of various conditions and objects that are tracked by its system of sensors and displayed by its command-and-control and kinetic mechanism. • • • The notion of an ‘instrument’ (in comparison to notions of ‘installation’ or ‘machine’) implies specification and higher degree of sophistication, design/engineering precision, and specific form of responsiveness that follow functional, operative, analytical, structural, or aesthetic registers of its design and scientific function.Erratum: U katalogu izložbe "Balkan Architectural Biennale 2019: (De)Coding Balkan" je naveden skraćeni naslov dela (prvi deo naslova) koji je, prema smernicama Ministarstva, naveden kao naslov zapisa. Spaces of transition: testing high standard housing in late-socialist Belgrade
This article explores housing models and hybrid typologies advanced as part of an urban renewal programme in Belgrade (Serbia, former Yugoslavia) in the 1980s. We argue that these typologies were tested against the socialist-modernist model of mass residential construction that had been dominant since the 1960s. Our research identifies the design methodologies employed in the insertion of collective housing typologies into an elite residential quarter of traditionally-planned detached family houses, in the case of high-standard housing project Dedinje II/2 (1979-1986) designed by the architect Zoran Zupanjevac. The article particularly focuses on local adaptation of the transnational concept of designing spaces of transition between community and privacy. Instrumental in this adaptation, we aim to show, was the educational experience and professional practice critical of radical modernism gained by the architect in the USA, UK and Austria. In particular, we find that the project reflects the transfer of knowledge and experience across cultural, geographic and political contexts. The resulting typologies, we contend, not only represented an example of a pluralist approach to late-socialist architecture but provided models for re-thinking housing in the transition to the market economy of the post-socialist period
Hotel "Hilton" - inovativna prostorna i tehnološka intervencija u urbanom tkivu Beograda
During its decade-long realization, the design of the "HILTON" Hotel in Belgrade has undergone all professional and investment procedures of the turbulent Serbian architectural field. Each of the events in the process of its creation has brought an additional layer and interpretation, but more importantly, it has become a public act. This is exactly what essentially makes a quality of this realization: visibility of the building's changeability, both as a process and as its spatiality. The building defines the strength of the city block and at the same time brings a new interpretation of the street through a new/traditional loading into the urban matrix. Moving away from the constants of the existing context, in order to delicately redefine it, this building, like a movement in an interspace, both is and is not: a corner building, a massive repetition of the uniform openings and space. The street is integrated by the envelop into the inner space in order to connect the public contents, thus achieving a new layerness and depth of the public space, but also creating a clean space for the repetitive programme of the hotel accentuating the structural elements which move away from the typological patterns. The vertical degradation characterized by the tree-like support of the usual, becomes a memory of the building. The innovative technological concepts are in a dialogue with it by sophisticatedly sublimating all characteristics of the building in its architectural variability: between the (re)definition of the context and the technological intervention.Projekat hotela "HILTON" u Beogradu, tokom decenijske realizacije, prošao je sve profesionalne i investicione procedure burnog srpskog arhitektonskog polja. Svaki od događaja u postupku njegovog stvaranja, doneo je dodatni sloj i interpretaciju, ali postao je i javni čin. Upravo to čini suštinski kvalitet ove realizacije: vidljivost promenljivosti objekta, i kao procesa, i kao njegove prostornosti. Objekat definiše čvrstinu gradskog bloka i istovremeno donosi novu interpretaciju ulice kroz novo/ tradicionalno učitavanje u urbanu matricu. Izmičući konstantama postojećeg konteksta, da bi ga delikatno redefinisao, ovaj objekat, poput kretanja u međuprostoru, i jeste i nije ugaoni objekat i masivna repeticija ujednačenih otvora i prostora. Anvelopom se integriše ulica u unutrašnji prostor da bi se povezali javni sadržaji, ostvarujući novu slojevitost i dubinu javnog prostora, ali i projektuje čist prostor za repetitivni program hotela sa akcentovanjem strukturalnih elemenata koji izmiču tipološkim obrascima. Vertikalna razgradnja koju karakteriše stablolika potpora od uobičajenog, postaje memorija objekta. Heat flux transmission assessment of a vegetation wall influence on the building envelope thermal conductivity in Belgrade climate
Vegetation integration in architectural buildings is one of the sustainable approaches for the building's facade development. The vegetation walls in architecture are innovative concepts of green building. This paper deals with the experimental and theoretical examination of vertically greened walls in the process of facade envelope optimization. The objective is to determine the contribution of the vegetation walls to the improvement of the energy properties of the envelope through experiments and models. The research analyzed the energy specificity of the vegetation walls and their contribution to the improvement of the thermal properties of the facade coating in Belgrade climatic conditions. For the research purposes, an experimental model was developed on which the relevant temperature values and thermal conductivity coefficients were measured. Measurements have shown that vegetation affects the reduction of the surface temperature of the envelope and affects the value of the thermal conductivity coefficient of the facade envelope. The research has shown that the facade wall containing plants has a significant influence on the temperature balance in the facade of the building. The methodology presented in this paper is based on the analysis of the climate characteristics in the measuring area, measurement of temperature values in the experimental model and comparative analysis. During the experiment, the vegetation elements were treated as elements that influence the facade envelope overheating reduction. It has been concluded, from previous researches, that by using the vegetation walls, the south-oriented wall has a lower thermal absorption and a lesser value of heat flux. Data analysis enabled the assessment of the thermal insulation efficiency of the wall using vegetation during the summer period. Metodologija integrisanog istraživanja u procesu digitalne dokumentacije arhitektonskog nasleđa
The paper presents an overview of the results based on the integration of traditional (analogue) and instrumental (digital) methods of heritage surveying. The thematic framework was stimulated by participation at the professional workshop in Lizori, in Italy, held in June 2018.. This specific methodological framework of integrated research, uses different tools, in the function of morphological specifications of different parts of a historical building. The very nature of architectural heritage requires the integration of different methods in order to achieve an adequate level of accuracy. The project of digitization of the Lizori village aims to present, on the one hand, an almost unknown historical heritage through multimedia presentation, and on the other hand, set up an information tool for restoration, maintenance and valorization.Rad predstavlja prikaz rezultata zasnovanog na integraciji tradicionalnih (analognih) i instrumentalnih (digitalnih) metoda snimanja nasleđa. Tematski okvir rada je podstaknut učešćem na stručnoj radionici u Lizoriju (Lizori), u Italiji, održanoj u junu 2018. godine. Ovaj specifični metodološki okvir integrisanog istraživanja koristi različite alate, u funkciji morfoloških specifikacija različitih delova istorijske građevine. Sama priroda arhitektonskog nasleđa nalaže integraciju različitih metoda u cilju postizanja adekvatnog nivoa tačnosti. Projekat digitalizacije zaseoka Lizori ima za cilj da, sa jedne strane, predstavi gotovo nepoznato istorijsko nasleđe kroz multimedijalnu prezentaciju, a sa druge strane, postavi alat za informisanje za restauraciju, održavanje i valorizaciju
Housing of the Future: Housing Design of the Fourth Industrial Revolution
The housing problems of the 21st century that include continuous urbanization, overpopulation, pollution, energy deficiency, land shortage and lack of affordable housing cannot be solved by applying housing solutions of the 20th century. The paradigm shift initiated by the disruptive new technological development of the fourth industrial revolution is offering substitution to the conventional understanding of housing design, its production processes and radically change the way we live and work. This paper examines and describes new prospects, opportunities and limits of housing design by the use of innovative advanced 3D printing technologies with CAD/CAM systems that introduce new possibilities to the process of housing design, fabrication and construction. These new possibilities in housing design include research in form, function, structure and materials, and have profound influence on both architectural research design, its production process and significantly reduce overall investments, time and resources, materials and labour use, decrease pollution and energy use

The theoretical framework of the proposed research continues the architectural line of thought known as 'geoarchitecture' and 'geographic project of architectural theory' (Gissen, 2008) by extending it from 'geoscopic' towards a cosmoscopic perspective. Assimilating the domain of the first notion, the latter regards architecture, landscape, environmental, territorial and urban planning - their concepts, design processes and spatial strategies - as not only embedded in geospatial, physical and geopolitical facts and concerns but more broadly outlined by cosmospatial, cosmopolitical and cosmopolitan attributes. These directions have been exposed to critical observation along with the claim that they constitute the inevitable formative background for the analysed spatial situations and processes together with the legal, economic and governing networks, and the claim that therefore they constitute, embody, and advocate presented ideas and values by spatially enforcing their aims while relying on international and supranational modes of regulation. The central part of the research focuses on the concept of exclusiveness, particularly spaces/places and territories of exclusive status and the ways these specific situations enable or provide, justify and enforce exemptions and exclusive rights for certain spatial behaviour following some natural and/or socially constructed criteria. Paralleled with the type of exclusiveness legally assigned to them (the zone), an insight into the key governing principles regarding their current status, use and future development as natural, cultural, architectural, strategic, economic or technological good, is addressed. Since these spaces operate beyond the conventional regulations, spatial control and ordering, the concept of extrastatecraft (Easterling, 2014) is introduced to supplement the explanation and to bridge the overall cosmopolitical framework with the chosen states and conditions of exception. The established theoretical platform is going to be supported by distinctive cases demonstrating or applying the argued conceptual convergence while pointing to the territorial and architectural consequences and design properties emerging from its precepts. Extrastate and conflicting or overlapping state interests and activities through the strategy of exclusion are traced across the spatial scales (outer space, airspace, Earth surface and interior) in order to be, finally, recognised as design concepts and strategies of 'free space' and 'island condition''
