The myth of form
The myth of form contains an architectural paradox. Without form, there is no architecture. The hypothetical question of form vs. thanatos justifies the myth of form in architecture. The autonomy project of architecture is a myth that has its different fields: cognitive, practical, and, ultimately, subjective. The subjective is inseparable from the field of architecture, both in terms of creation and perception. If there is no form in architecture, architecture disappears as a field. A formal approach to architecture uses proportional analysis to find repetitiveness in intensity. The tip of the iceberg is the autonomy of architecture. In architecture, the formal has its own strict rules; by contrast, avant-garde practices questioned the rules. The following text aims to observe the city in its totality through the cracks of the narrative myth of form

Likovna transkripcija i digitalna reprezentacija arhitektonskog prostora [42. Salon arhitekture, 2020]

Reflections on the learning objectives for sustainable development in the higher education curricula – three cases from the University of Belgrade
Purpose This purpose of this study is to explore the integration of the sustainable development concept and goals into the curriculum of higher education studies using the example of three faculties of the University of Belgrade. Design/methodology/approach A qualitative content analysis has been applied on two levels: the evaluation of the sustainability of courses starting from the criteria defined using the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System (ASHE, 2017), and the analysis of the outcomes defined in the curricula of subjects within the three faculties using the UNESCO learning objectives related to selected sustainable development goals (SDGs) as a criteria. Findings While the largest number of courses were analyzed from the Faculty of Architecture, the highest proportion of sustainability courses was found in the Faculty of Security Studies. Both study areas reflect a stronger interdisciplinary orientation, although it should be strengthened in the case of the Andragogy study program. Based on the experience of the Faculty of Architecture, the courses implemented by linking theory and practice may significantly contribute to achieving the LOs and to implementing the education for sustainable development. At the University of Belgrade, strategic documents are missing that would encourage and oblige the faculties to apply the concept of sustainability. Originality/value This is the first study to apply this type of curricula analysis at the University of Belgrade. It is performed by teachers from the university, coming from different disciplinary fields but oriented towards an interdisciplinary perspective. Although performed in three specific study areas within a single university, the identified gaps and trends may be useful for planning interventions toward accelerating the implementation of SDGs in the higher education curricula
The Possibilities of Preservation, Regeneration and Presentation of Industrial Heritage: The Case of Old Mint “A.D.” on Belgrade Riverfront
This paper aims to explore industrial heritage of Belgrade that is located in the city center
and therefore, has considerable potential for future architectural and urban development of the
Serbian capital. The whole Belgrade riverfront area along the Sava and the Danube Rivers has a
large number of abandoned industrial buildings that have significant value and need to be preserved
and revitalized. This paper represents a research project conducted by lecturers at the Faculty of
Architecture in Belgrade in the course History and Theory 1—Visual Culture in Architectural Theory
and Practice. In order to provide productive research, we have employed the case study method based
on the old Mint “A.D.”, which we have chosen as a characteristic example of Belgrade’s industrial
heritage architecture. An important goal of this research is to provide professional information
and raise public awareness about the importance and potential of industrial heritage for the future
economic, cultural, social and tourist development of the city. This paper analyzes possibilities to
comprehend the problems of the city’s industrial heritage protection regarding its historical and
urban context, its genesis, authenticity, identity, cultural, architectural, economic, social, productive,
creative and environmental values. According to that, the main goal of this research is concentrated
on the sustainable preservation of specific cultural tangible and intangible values, spirit of the place,
city identity and historic cityscape values that characterize industrial heritage in the social, cultural,
natural and built environmental systems

Space Digitization as a Tool to Enhance the Identity of Historic Public Space
The 21st century is the era of new technologies, Internet, overall digitalization, and
the applications that represent a major advance in science and technology. On the
other hand, these innovative technologies have had a very challenging impact on
various social activities. People are spending more time in a virtual space, instead
going out, socialising or enjoining outdoor recreation. Despite this, digitalization
has also led to new ideas and directions for creativity, such as the creation of
various applications that can encourage human mobility and interaction in the
open space of a settlement. Accordingly, these applications can supplement and
upgrade the values of existing open spaces, adding them a new, ‘digitized’
dimension. This opportunity especially comes to light when these open spaces, such
as public squares, streets or quays, contain the elements of culture and heritage
that make up their identity.
The aim of this paper is to examine the level which the digitalization of heritage,
history, tradition, and culture is presented in open spaces in Serbia, including
public squares and promenades, as well as heritage sites outside settlements.
Based on this, a list of the nationally promoted digitized culture and heritage is
formed, while few best-practice examples are elaborated. The focus is on their
connection to real space and its identity. Therefore, all enlisted items are mapped.
In that sense, the final contribution of the research is to understand the role of
these innovative applications in the revitalisation and activation of open public
spaces based on this new dimension of their identity
The Role of Identity in Shaping Resilient Open Public Spaces Surrounding Small Urban Streams
Open public spaces surrounding small urban streams are faced with a growing number of problems in the last few decades as a result of climate change. Frequent floods and droughts made most of these areas non-functional, abandoned and devastated for the better part of the year. Majority of the spaces surrounding small urban streams currently are not capable to adapt and transform in accordance with new ecological challenges.
In order to create public spaces that live year-round, it is necessary to design them according to principles of resilient design. The socio-ecological resilience, an interdisciplinary concept based in ecology, offers a conceptual ground for the principles for creation of resilient spaces, i.e. spaces that are resilient to the changes and utilize natural disturbances for the improvement of space. According to this concept, one of the most important qualities of resilience is preservation of identity in times of natural disturbances and recovery.
In this paper we will analyse the question of identity of open public spaces surrounding small urban streams in the context of resilience, based on the case of watercourses in Belgrade. The goal of this research is to identify the elements that shape the identity of open public spaces and to determine their role in the future revitalization of these spaces, in order to realize year-round uniform quality of space
