• • • [gen neo-baroque] koncept reference generiše kroz nekoliko fotografskih nivoa. The aesthetics of a true good, sublime, emergent, and/or absolute … the pure and true material fact of beauty of an architectural object and its detail, without the need to prove and explain itself but only to be discovered and presented as it is or has been seen and captured, along with all the visual precedents contained in its appearance and form. In a moment when all positions are traded, to remind one of a higher value and unprecedented beauty becomes subversive. • The photograph is regarded as document, an evidence of unexpected, unpredictable beauty, both emergent and inherently contained within the object of architecture and its surrounding. • • • [ethics=aesthetics] concept calls for an absolute judgment, a case in which what we can say about something (ethics) equals to how we see something (aesthetics); in which an absolute agreement might exist between the fact, its visual imprint, and explanation (regardless of the medium); a case that might answer the question of how aesthetic excellence draws audiences into ethical relationship with what is presented. Such congruence of layers—multiple verification of the photographed object—produces what can be called hyper-evidence: an amplified truth of the captured object, that even as such (a fact in itself) still appears like something contrived and altered with regards to the referenced object (some kind of its different reality—a reinforced illusion of reality achieved through photographic manipulation). • • • [gen neo-baroque] concept will express references at several photographic levels. The first one is related to historical referencing to Garnier's baroque opera house as belonging to the architectural typology of objects of spectacle, along with metamorphic Esherian transformations of nature to artifice/culture and vice versa, and generative forms. The second one introduces technologies that enable geometric architectural solutions to be built and realized, including cladding, which as a surface contributes to the captured visual effect. Similar to the move from first primitive forms of music, through the medieval, classical, and baroque music to serial, repetitive contemporary difference in composed motives and to generative algorithmic compositions, the concept implies historical move towards the captured form of visual events along the object’s surface. Relationship between the temporal component and natural light on one side and curved fragmented metal surface on the other renders strong bright colours and mirroring effects as a part of the interplay between various notions from the history of arts and sciences. The photography acknowledges the main aesthetic event as the one that is placed on the architectural envelope through which internal generative logic of the architecture of the Philharmonie de Paris and external natural system are confronted and blended as exemplified

Hybridization of space is a complex, multi-layered concept that can be interpreted and applied in various ways. The conditions of heterogeneity and increasing density in contemporary cities lead to rapid transformations and the creation of new types of space as a response to the constant changes in urban conditions. The need for synergy and greater efficiency causes the intensification of activities and the mixing of programs in spatially problematic situations such as: urban spaces with high density, transit spaces, industrial zones, coastlines, and urban voids. The formation of hybrid space within the context of regenerated territories is one of the urban planning mechanisms for social-economic, investment, and cultural development of the city. In this regard, this paper attempts to consider the concept of hybridization in relation to the aforementioned spatial situations, by examining the goal of hybridization, the dominant aspect of hybridization, and the effects of its application, along with practical examples that illustrate these situations. The research results suggest that hybridization is justifiably considered one of the catalysts for creating sustainable urban environments

Assessment of Efficiency of Last-Mile Delivery Zones: A Novel IRN OWCM–IRN AROMAN Model

    No full text
The importance of managing goods delivery in urban areas has reached its peak in recent years, driven by the constant and rapid growth of online commerce. Under such conditions, where smaller quantities of goods are ordered, yet the number of shipments continues to rise, the question of last-mile delivery (LMD) efficiency becomes increasingly relevant. This paper addresses the issue of last-mile delivery zone efficiency through the application of a new methodological approach. First, the concept of measuring last-mile delivery productivity is defined using a specific example from an urban environment. Next, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are established to enable a proper assessment of urban zone efficiency in line with the LMD concept. The main contribution of this study is the development of the IRN OWCM (Interval Rough Number Opinion Weight Criteria Method), which is used to calculate the weights of the criteria. To assess suitable delivery zones in terms of efficiency based on the defined KPIs, the previously developed IRN OWCM method is integrated with IRN AROMAN (Alternative Ranking Order Method Accounting for Two-Step Normalization). The results identify delivery zones that are suitable in terms of meeting standardized user needs. The developed model demonstrated stability through additional verification tests and can be adequately applied in cases when it is needed to minimize subjectivity and uncertainties

The paper results—over the timeline—in the evolution of theoretical and practical reflection on morphological studies in a local context, and provides a new theoretical perspective for understanding intellectual heritage and for guiding future actions, contributing to critical visions and disciplinary discussion within Serbian Network of Urban Morphology (SNUM). The research has both practical and theoretical impetus and is based on the assumption that research on locally specific approaches on the renewal processes is an important puzzle in understanding the global research agenda in the subject area and accordingly seeks to show the roots and precedents in the context of Serbia.Editors: Małgorzata Hanzl Anna Agata Kantarek Artur Zaguła Łukasz Musiaka Tomasz Figlu

Urban Design Competitions and Space Syntax: А Methodological Approach

    No full text
This article investigates the use of space syntax in urban design and architectural competitions, focusing specifically on its role in shaping design arguments and influencing competition proposals. Drawing on the author's experience in five distinct case studies, this research highlights how space syntax can inform and enhance design decisions under limited time, constrained resources, and a lack of comprehensive fieldwork. The research affirms that space syntax not only enriches the design process but also enhances the ability of architects and urban planners to make informed, strategic decisions that are grounded in spatial logic and human behavior.Editor-in-Chief dr Djordje Djordjevic Topic 2: Forward Engineering -Computer-Aided Design, Computational Design and lnformation Modellin

Engaging Local Communities` Knowledge and Ideas for Natural and Cultural Heritage Integration: The Case of Action Plan for Sustainable Sombor, Serbia

    No full text
The protection and sustainable use of natural and cultural heritage for enhancing urban identity and local community’s quality of life, as well as positioning Serbian cities within the global eco-cultural tourism network, remain underappreciated in national and local development agendas. Following growing interest in tourism that integrates tangible and intangible heritage with natural assets, there’s a need to reassess this approach, especially for small and medium towns facing decline. Across Europe, there’s a heightened acknowledgement of heritage protection’s role in sustainable urban development, leading to numerous national and pan-European initiatives over recent decades. These efforts initiated the creation of new methodologies and different types of pilot projects for their validation. Their common denominator is that the capacity of all involved in conceiving and executing heritage-based policies should be enhanced. This paper outlines the methodology, development process, and content of an Action Plan focused on the integration and sustainable use of the natural and cultural heritage of Sombor. Developed collaboratively with local stakeholders, the primary objective was to ensure that it is deeply rooted in contextually relevant knowledge and authentic ideas, thereby facilitating its implementation in a more efficient and effective manner. Additionally, it aimed to foster connections among local initiatives, enhancing their capacities for further collaborations

Reuse of vacant office buildings: Analysis of quantitative spatial characteristics of office buildings according to typology

    No full text
Reuse of vacant office buildings represents an increasingly common practice in many cities worldwide. There are numerous examnples of successful reuse, but on the other hand there are examples of reactivation attempts which were not realized even with significant investments. The reasons for unsuccessful attempts are usually found in the lack of understanding and analysis of the many different aspects within the complex adaptation process. In cases involving large buildings, and especially regarding abandoned office buildings, conversion with the aim of reuse is often a better solution than demolishion and construction of a new building on the same site. In order to realize a successful conversion, an adequate choise of a new building purpose is one of the most crucial initial steps. The presented research, regarding the most significant spatial characteristics of buildings according to their typology, was done in order to establish which typologies are "spatially compatible" and thus determine the appropriate new purposes for vacant buildings
