No full textIn ihrem Tagungsband „Hegemonie und die Kraft der Bilder“ versammeln Alice Pechrigl und Anna Schober vielfältige Stimmen, die dem Themenkomplex von Bildern und Machtetablierung aus verschiedensten Perspektiven begegnen. Ziel der Herausgeberinnen ist es dabei, einen Betrag zur weitergehenden Theoretisierung des Problemfeldes abseits von Einzelstudien zu leisten. Das Ergebnis ist ein zwar skizzenhaftes, aber inspirierendes Kaleidoskop von Texten, das dem Forschungsfeld vor allem aus kulturtheoretischer Perspektive neue Anstöße gibt.In their conference proceedings fpr “Hegemonie und die Macht der Bilder“ Alice Pechrigl and Anna Schober gather various authors to tackle the topic matrix of images and their relation to the establishment of power from diverse angles. The aim of the editors is to contribute to the further theorization of the research field apart from exemplary case studies. The outcome of this endeavour is a rather sketchy, but nevertheless inspiring kaleidoscope of texts that provide new impulses to the field of research, especially from a perspective of cultural studies and theory

Die Geschichtspolitiken und nationalistischen Ideologien, die von der Kroatischen Demokratischen Union (Hrvatska demokratska zajednica - HDZ) und der Bewegung für die Demokratische Slowakei (hnutie za demokratické Slovensko - HZDS) entwickelt wurden, werden vor dem Hintergrund der historischen Vermächtnisse, politischen Kontexte und der Auflösungsprozesse der Tschechoslowakei und Jugoslawiens analysiert. Neben einer Reihe von Unterschieden zeigt der Vergleich erhebliche Ähnlichkeiten, die eine Erklärung für die Anwesenheit oder Abwesenheit eines demokratischen Defizits in jenen Ländern bereit hielten, die als Junior-Partner in den sozialistischen Bundesstaaten Jugoslawiens, der Tschechoslowakei und der Sowjetunion gegolten haben.This book examines how the ruling parties in Croatia and Slovakia in the 1990s made use of history in politics in order to gain and maintain power. The politics of history and nationalist ideologies developed by the Croatian Democratic Union (Hrvatska demokratska zajednica – HDZ) and the Movement for Democratic Slovakia (Hnutie za demokratické Slovensko – HZDS) are analysed against the backdrop of historical legacies, political contexts, and the dissolution processes of Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia, respectively. Apart from a number of differences, the comparison reveals considerable similarities that could be useful in explaining the presence or absence of a democratic deficit in countries that held the position of ˈjunior partnersˈ in the socialist federations of Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, and the Soviet Union

No full textStefanie Kreuzers Traum und Erzählen in Literatur, Film und Kunst entwirft eine Typologie traumhaften Erzählens im intermedialen Vergleich. Ausgehend von Ergebnissen aus der Fiktionstheorie, sowie aus der Neurobiologie und der experimentellen Traumforschung untersucht die Autorin literarische, bildkünstlerische und filmische Werke systematisch im Hinblick auf Merkmale traumhaften Erzählens. Medienspezifika kommen dabei ebenso zum Vorschein wie die Tatsache, dass Traum und Kunst sich in vielerlei Hinsicht analog verhalten. Es gibt keinen unmittelbaren Zugang zum subjektiven Traumerlebnis und trotzdem können uns künstlerisch erschaffene Phantasiewelten wertvolle Anhaltspunkte dafür liefern, wie das überaus komplexe Phänomen des Träumens funktioniert. Stefanie Kreuzer’s Traum und Erzählen in Literatur, Film und Kunst draws up a typology of dream-like storytelling by means of an intermedial comparison. On the basis of results offered by fictional theory and experimental dream research, she analyses literary texts, artwork, and movies in a systematic manner, aiming at characterizing dream-like storytelling. The specifics of each media type, as well as the fact that dreams and art are similar in many ways, come to light. There is no unmediated access to the subjective dream experience – nevertheless, fantasy worlds created by art can offer us valuable insight into the functioning of this extremely complex phenomenon: dreaming

Der Sammelband liefert einen umfassenden Überblick über den aktuellen Stand deutschsprachiger und internationaler Game Studies Forschung. Er ist aufgeteilt in die drei großen Themenbereiche „Spiel“, „Nutzung“ und „Kontexte“, die von erfahrenen Autor_innen anschaulich und umfassend reflektiert werden. Dabei beschränken sich die Autor_innen nicht auf medienwissenschaftliche Zugänge, vielmehr zeichnet sich der Sammelband durch seinen hohen Grad an Interdisziplinarität aus.The relatively new discipline of game studies has already experienced first consolidation movements and has developed canonized disciplinary approaches. This volume provides a comprehensive overview of the current state of German and international game studies research.
