Get PDFDer Sammelband Digital Cultural Heritage besteht aus dreißig Beiträgen, die mit einem breiten geographischen und zeitlichen Rahmen einen umfassenden Überblick über die aktuellen Entwicklungen in diesem Forschungsfeld anbieten. Einige der Themen, denen im Band besondere Aufmerksamkeit gewidmet wurden, sind die Fragen der Konservierung und Präsentation von (digitalem) Kulturerbe, sowie Möglichkeiten zu dessen Anreicherung mit Hilfe digitaler Werkzeuge. Obwohl der Band reich an Fallbeispielen ist, fehlt es ihm jedoch an Leserführung und einem umfassenden konzeptuellen Ansatz.The edited volume Digital Cultural Heritage is a collection of thirty contributions dealing with cultural heritage in the digital context. Covering a broad geographical and chronological scope, it presents the reader with an extensive overview of the current work in the field. Some of the topics that were given special attention in the volume are questions of preservation and presentation of (digital) cultural heritage, as well as possibilities for its enrichment with the help of digital tools. While rich in examples, the volume, however, lacks reader guidance and a rounded approach to the topic

Das Buch behandelt literarische, filmische und künstlerische Werke der letzten zwei Jahrzehnte und zeigt formale Werkzeuge für die Darstellung von Narrativen eines bewaffneten Konflikts des geleugneten Verlusts und von abgestumpfter Trauer. In diesem Band werden Werke analysiert, in denen Geister nicht im wörtlichen Sinne, sondern als eine Form von wahrnehmenden Ausdruck verstanden werden. The monograph Haunting without Ghosts, written by Juliana Martínez, conceptualizes and exemplifies the narrative form and aesthetics of ‘spectral realism’ in the Colombian arts. The book traverses literary, cinematic and artistic works from the last two decades, presenting the formal tools for expressing narratives of an armed conflict of disclaimed loss and truncated mourning. In short, it analyzes works that do not take ghosts literally but as a perceptual form of expression.

Diese Studie über ukrainischen feministischen Protest ist ein wichtiger Beitrag zu den heutigen Diskussionen über Aktivismus vor, während und nach der Zeit der Maidan Protestbewegung, und über die Beziehungen zum sowjetischen Erbe. Jessica Zychowicz makes an invaluable contribution to the anglophone study of Ukrainian feminist protest and the cultural dissensus about Soviet heritage and post-Maidan state politics. The cultural production considered in Superfluous Women highlights both the ambivalence of Ukrainian society and the failures of the state’s attempts to sustain a “monopoly on ‘truth’” (p. 264)
The Divine as Non-Binary: The Ambiguous Transpoetics of Three Trans, Genderfluid and Genderqueer Figures from Hindu Mythology
Get PDFThis trilogy of poems presents a trans-positive perspective on the characters of Shiva, Vishnu and Shikhandi, all figures of import in Hinduism. The first poem focuses on the half-male, half-female form of Shiva, Ardhanarishwara; the second focuses on Vishnu’s female incarnation, Mohini; and the third focuses on Shikhandi, the warrior princess-turned-prince who was a key figure in the defeat of the Kauravas in the Mahabharata. Accompanying these poems is an exegetical essay offering an analysis of the divine as non-binary in Hinduism in general, as well as providing a critical framework for the poems themselves. In summation, this _Perspective combines queer theory with applied transpoetics and Hindu mythology to offer a unique glimpse into gender alterity in Hinduism through a combination of critical and creative practice
“You Can’t Combat Nothing”: Allie Brosh’s Hyperbole and a Half and Reframing Mental Illness Through Webcomics
No full textAmidst the powerfully democratizing, public spheres of Web 2.0, life writing has taken on new geographies and forms of mobility through webcomics. As an experimental mode of self-representation, webcomics are part of an urgent, digital turn in autobiographical writing, where speaking to one’s personal experiences also takes place within the social economies of the Internet. This paper analyzes webcomics as a compelling new dimension of autobiographical illness narrative, using Allie Brosh’s webcomic blog, Hyperbole and a Half, as its case study. Launched in 2009 on the free blog platform, Blogspot, Brosh’s deceptively simplistic aesthetic and comically dark representation of mental illness has since amassed near-cult following online. Drawing on the discipline of life writing and from comics studies, I aim to position Brosh’s webcomics within the field of graphic medicine and to explore how they might expand conventional understandings of illness within this contextual frame. Brosh’s work is a significant precursor to hybrid forms of illness narrative still emerging from digital spaces — this paper asks how webcomics capitalize on both the affordances of the Internet and the aesthetic of comics to connect audiences across vast distances with collective experiences of everyday illness

Innovatively combining theories from neighboring disciplines in this way, Poletti develops a number of specific ways of reading mediated lives and selves in their inescapable relationality
